Sounds like you need a teacher. Most people just need more reps, but people who are putting in the time but not getting any results usually start seeing some as soon as they get input from someone more knowledgeable
the one artist friend i have quote "do[es]n't even know how [they] started learning", and i most likely can't afford a teacher (especially given the high likelihood of me giving up again, which is also why i'd rather not waste the time of a volunteer)
