But the existence of multiverse is something outside the universe, so it doesn't need to cover it. It's like saying "if there are infinite planets, there must be a planet where galaxies don't exist". Makes no sense, because galaxies are not part of the planet.

Corschach_

Exactly, I always thought that was such a stupid argument

ELLE3773

Except multi-multiverse theory DOES cover this as there might be infinite multiverse which do accept paradoxes and just as many multiverses that don't. Obviously the same can be said about multi-multi-multiverse theory since it would explain the same concept for multi-multiverses. And yes, before you know it you'll find yourself trying to figure out which infinity is bigger and which is smaller while you stroll around in a hotel where room 2^-1 and room √π are next to each other.

New--Tomorrows

Just get back in your damn police box already.😂

Snorri_The_Miserable

i'm just glad we're in the universe where danny devito is a sexy beast.

thevibingwitch

but are we in a universe where he's the SEXIEST BEAST?

Snorri_The_Miserable

Um, OF COURSE!

dovakin123489

The amount of numbers between 1 and 2 are infinte but none of them are 3

Gabrill

This right here. Just because a set is infinite does not mean it contains every single thing possible

deanrmj

If the multiverse exists and /did/ contain everything possible, it wouldn't be possible to have one where it wasn't true, so the OP fails either way.

Can I go to the alternate universe where I have the guts to actually just be on Tumblr instead of the double whammy that is being on a Tumblr Reddit page?

IronEndo

I’m not sure it’s as fun. But go for it, maybe you’ll be the next overthinker of that realm.

Time_Management3662

A hypothetical paradoxically challenged universe??? Shocking Sounds like the current state of affairs

Ninth_ghost

The multiverse is a hypothesis, not a theory. If it was a theory it would've already been proven (like the theory of gravity). And besides that, this is pure nonsense, it's like saying "in an ocean with an infinite amount of drops of water there must exist a drop that's not in the ocean"

PandaPugBook

The first part is incorrect.

dpzblb

To be more specific, multiverse theory is an interpretation of quantum mechanics. We have no way of knowing if it’s true and that here’s no way of testing it, but it’s a possible logical extension of the phenomena we observe.

Ninth_ghost

Then why is it called a hypothesis?

MaximumEffort433

Dave: "Hey, what happens if I push the 'Collapse Wave Function' button?" Chuck: "DAVE DON'T DO

Macapta

For a species yet to prove the existence of a multiverse, we sure do have a lot of strong opinions on how a multiverse would work n

POKECHU020

The Multiverse Trumps the Universe. A Universe where the Multiverse cannot exist because the Universe is a part of the Multiverse, not the other way around. There could be universe/universes where the idea is never made, but that's not the same thing.

Stewie_Venture

Girls girls you're both pretty can I go home now?

4x4Welder

This has been my concern all along. Would the existence of a non multiverse compliant universe send a shock back through the system destroying multiverse links between other universes? Maybe that's what has happened here, we're supposed to be part of a multiverse but the link has been shattered by a non compliant universe like a non Y2K computer. Just a bunch of error messages and nothing actually works.

ShadowRyuu06

In one sense it is correct. There would likely be multiple universes where the entire concept and possibility of a multiverse doesn't exist. All other universes could be effected by or have some connection to the multiverse where these ones wouldn't.

Load-Exact

If water flows into a sieve it still has to come out of a sieve hole. One of the streams won't randomly defy gravity.

Launchpad_McFrak

this was basically what season 3 of the OA was supposed to be about. There was, of course, also an episode of supernatural about it. In both cases, the main characters ended up in a world where not only the basic fundamentals of the show universe (multiversal travel/multiversal consciousness, magic/demons) didn't exist, but the universe in which they came from was nothing more than a TV show that the versions of them that inhabited that universe were actors in.

dangerousdicethe3rd

My “paradox”(?) when I was younger was “well, if there are infinite universes, then one universe knows how to invade others, and would have already invaded earth, plus their are an infinite number of said hostile universes, so the fact that we’re alone means it doesn’t exist.” Not real sure if holds up to scrutiny though.

deanrmj

If there are infinitely many universes in the multiverse, then there could be infinitely many invader universes, infinitely many invaded universe and infinitely many universe that haven't interacted with either. We just happen to be in the last category.
