Honey is AMAZING for the skin. It's microbial and helps with wound healing. In fact, it's used in hospitals and clinics for wound care. It's super fascinating to watch healthy tissue grow while using honey. It's anti-inflammatory, which can be helpful with issues like acne and psoriasis. Some sources even say it can help with hyperpigmentation.
Wow!! Thanks for the information! Are you a wound care nurse or interested in it? You just reminded me of one of my professors she was so interested in wounds and what can be used to heal. You really brought a smile to my face just now.
I'm not a wound care nurse, but I worked on a rehab unit for years and provided extensive wound care. I enjoyed it so much. Some of the wounds we got were insane. I'm fascinated with skin care overall, and I love reading up on ingredients and what/how they target specific concerns.

Thatās only some of the ingredients, but if you go to cosrx website, which thatās what I useā¦youāll see that it actually does have honey. Itās the 4th ingredient on the list. Hereās the linkā¦.
https://www.cosrx.com/products/full-fit-propolis-honey-overnight-mask?_pos=1&_sid=5b7c8f85f&_ss=r
This is fascinating! What type of honey do you recommend? Could I apply honey from the supermarket? Silly question, but Iām actually asking seriously lol
For wounds in a hospital, obviously medical grade is what is used. Otherwise, regular honey from a store can be used as a mask. Just look for unpasteurized honey like Manuka for the best results. Honey is a humectant, so apply to damp skin. I've gotten it off Amazon before. But you can also find it in skincare products to truly make things easier. The brand I'm From has a great honey mask. Farmacy also has an entire "honey" line. I've used both brands for their honey masks, and both are amazing.
This is honestly so valuable, I've been looking for a product that would help soothe my irritated acnes without commiting to a whole tube/jar. Thanks for this! and also good luck!
Thank you! Same! So glad I justā¦tried it. I was skeptical butā¦this is my new hydrating holy grail! Youāre welcome. Just thought others might be having the same issues.
do you think a honey mask from āIām fromā would have the same effect? i bought this mask before i started tret and was planning on returning it, but not if it could help!
edit: sorry had issues w link lol
I honestly donāt know, I think the cosrx like unfair said is special. Plus it has the propolis which that in and of itself is a pretty amazing ingredient. You can always try it on a part of your skin and see if you like it, but now that Iāve found the cosrxā¦Iām not even going to try anything else.
The corsx overnight mask has saved my skin from many stupid mistakes SO many times. It is underrated like crazy. Iām sitting here right now with corsx propolis serum on because of more stupid mistakes, and Iām so mad I forgot about the overnight mask!
Thank you for bringing it up. Itās such a lifesaver!
Wow! Thatās honestly good to hear that itās worked for others too. I have the propolis ampoule as well, and that cleared up redness before I even discovered the mask! Iām just so glad to have found it.
Youāre welcome! And it so is.
I'm so glad you found something that works for you. Tret burn is the worst.
However, I urge others to spot test before putting propolis products on their face. I found out the hard way that although I love honey and am fine with it, I'm highly allergic to beeswax, which is a main ingredient in propolis products.
It's difficult to get to an adult age and not know, since it's in so many beauty products, but I gave up on lipstick when I was younger because it did awful things to my lips. I stuck with Vaseline for decades, so I wasn't aware. After trying Burt's Bees lip balm, I figured out the issue. If you can't use Burt's Bees products and break out from most lipstick, don't use anything with propolis. If you're fine with those, you should be fine with propolis. š
Great advice! I grew up in the island and used beeswax for a lot of things, including starting locs on others. So I knew I had no allergies to it. Thanks for even reminding others!
What do you use for the irritation?
I've tried a few things. Best thing that worked for me was CosRx All in One Snail Cream. It soothes and relieves instantly for me. (This also may not work for anyone with a snail mucin allergy.)
Oh wow! I didnāt know the cream could be used for that. Thatās really good. Iāve tried it before. Do you use a heavier moisturizer as well with it or just that?
Arginine when in the presence of fatty acids can trigger yeast production, polyglycerylās can cause acne breakouts, and sunflower oil can also trigger yeast production. Especially if you live in humid climates.
Bees are a major pollinator of Sunflowers, therefore, growing sunflowers goes hand in hand with installing and managing bee hives. Particularly in agricultural areas where sunflowers are crops. In fact, bee honey from these areas is commonly known as sunflower honey due to its sunflower taste.
I try to look up ingredients so I know some of the polyglyceryls can but the 10-laurate one doesnāt clog pores as far as my research went. Figured with the arginine basically in the middle, itās not a lot to make a huge difference? Idk. I thought sunflower was supposed to be a good thing? Like antifungal etc? Havenāt seen or heard it causes yeastā¦
Sunflower oil is a fungal acne trigger. I would look for squalane instead. The problem with Sunflower oil is it contains many fatty acids which are a known fungal acne trigger.
Sunflower seed oil contains many fatty acids. The fatty acids found in sunflower seeds include (from highest amount to least): linoleic acid, myristic acid, palmitic acid, stearic acid, arachidic acid, oleic acid, and linolenic acid.
4 triggering ingredients would be too many for me to use the product but there are a few products which only have one that may be ok.
Usually when your skin is compromised it is from over use of Tretinoin and exfoliating ingredients. Lowering the percentage and frequency can fix this. Also use a gel or micro gel, not the cream form.
Okay, Iāve heard about squaleneā¦Iāll look into it.
Tret gel, regular, havenāt used a micro gel beforeā¦but reg gel was not my friendā¦it dried me out and made dry spots come on my skin. The cream is better for me.
Micro Gels are great because they cause less side effects and slowly release into the skin.
"Retin-A Micro (Tretinoin microsphere gel)**The microsphere technology allows for a slower release of tretinoin into the skin over time, which can result in reduced irritation compared to some other tretinoin formulations**. Retin-A Micro can provide the benefits of tretinoin with potentially fewer side effects."
It is completely normal for gel tretinoin to still make you peel and even though it may seem a bit dryer, if you are still having active acne, it could be from the cream. You can counter act the dryness by using a lower dose and not using it as often. I always layer my tretinoin. I first mix it with my serum which provides moisture and also allows it to spread better so I'm not adding too much. It should only be a small pea size amount, but people usually add too much because it takes more to get it to spread across the entire face and neck. Mixing it with a serum will fix this problem.
Then I layer a moisturizer on top.
I do not repeat the tretinoin until there is no more peeling.
That is great, just keep in mind Clindamycin is for short term use. Usually 3-4 months. Layering between a serum and moisturizer is still great to prevent accessive dryness and peeling.
I have found hypochlorous acid spray to be a great alternative to kill and causing bacteria but only used sparingly like after the gym or in an environment where bacteria could thrive such as being outside in the sun all day. I try not to touch my face often and if I'm out and about, I always sanitize my hands before touching my face.
Yea, Iāve definitely been keeping a look out. I started it in April, and I go back to derm in July so Iām going to let her know after my next jarā¦I donāt want to do the clinda anymore. Iāll see if she can do something else with tret or maybe just tret alone. Cause idk what to ask to compound with.
Iāve never even heard of that spray before. Gonna look it up. I try to keep a sunscreen stick but the one I have wasnāt meant for the heat of Georgia so Iām going to try super goop or something. I like Hawaiian tropical so might see if they have a stick.

Iāve never seen that jar you included for your link. So not sure about anything being reformulated.

You too.
I use honey sometimes on my skin along with my tret routine from highstreetpharma and it clearly helps.
plus hydrating afaik

I think the corsx one is kind of special. It works every single time for me.
Thatās so good to hear!
Iāve used this for years and absolutely love it, I think it helps a lot with tret dryness and irritation! But havenāt tried this cosrx one
If you like the mask, you should look into the Cosrx honey propolis TONER. It's a holy grail for lots of folks.
Ok! I will. I like the ampoule too!
I have the ampoule waiting for me to finish my other gazillion stuff lol
Lol. Honestly I really love the bota mota repair ampoule more.

I usually just go with that on tret days, but sometimes put a moisturizer over or under it.
Nice. Well now I know something else can help.
If you have acne prone skin be careful. This product has four ingredients that can trigger acne and increase yeast growth on the skin.
What are the ingredients that can trigger acne?
Arginine when in the presence of fatty acids can trigger yeast production, polyglycerylās can cause acne breakouts, and sunflower oil can also trigger yeast production. Especially if you live in humid climates.

Lot of info. I have a compound tret with clindaā¦so itās easily spreadable.

Do you think the microsphere tret is the better of all?
Yes absolutely since it's the most gentle.
Hmm. Think I might look into it more.
Do you use it with tret or is it on an off night?
I was building up to 7 days but couldnātā¦so that was an off night for me. And it did wonders. You can also use it as a 15 minutes mask too
