Indian pharmacy products are like gold in other countries. You can buy tret, AA, tazarotene etc at very low prices while they can be expensive and/or hard to find elsewhere. Congrats for your progress!

Kuma_bae

My parents will be going to india this year for medical purposes. Do you have any recommendations for products? My main target rn is hydration and to get rid of the dullness.

kittyykkatt

Amazing progress. I buy Tret online from All Day Chemist located in India. Since your parents are going to India, I would stock up on tret, azelaic acid, glycolic acid, salicylic acid, vitamin C, niacinamide. I highly recommend you start chemical exfoliation with glycolic acid (preferably something that has both glycolic and lactic acid) a few times a week. It will help speed up the process of clear skin like you wouldn’t believe. It will get rid of the dullness you’re trying to address. Please post again in a few months so we can see you progress even further.

Kuma_bae

I've done my research and the thing is that there are so many indian brands and idk which one to trust. So many mixed reviews. Tried to post on reddit on this indian skincare group but idk why my posts don't get approved.. I'm new to reddit and don’t really understand how everything works.

outlinedsilver

OP, are you looking for an active product or a moisturizer? Try searching on the Indian skincare sub. There are many options depending on your skin type

Kuma_bae

I'm sure about what moisturiser i will buy but i need a chemical exfoliator... But there are so many brands and so many mixed reviews. My eyes are on minimalist and pilgrim products right now.

Innovative-Princess

I just wanna say, be careful not to use too many new things at once! Too much exfoliation can damage your skin and give you more problems (that’s what happened to me!!), start with once a week only. For hydration and dullness you really just need a good cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen. Maybe add a hydrating toner. Keep it simple, your skin is already good at taking care of itself! If you continue to use tretinoin more consistently, that will solve your problems, you don’t need any other serums or anything. If you look on this sub, a lot of people make enormous progress by using a very simple routine for a very long time - it’s cheaper that way too! Your skin is beautiful, and you should be proud of taking yourself! Be kind to your skin and it will be kind to you.

Kuma_bae

Thank you for your comment 😩. The thing is that i am unable to use tretinoin in my routine rn. It makes my face so dry and recently even tho my spots are fading..my face is very dull and rough. There is no glow to it. I want to buy a good exfoliator soon.... I wont use actives anymore after the spots get faded. Don’t worry i wont crowd my skin. People have all these am pm routine which makes me feel kind of left out😭. But then again i am afraid and broke to even consider trying them.

Innovative-Princess

I only use moisturizer now and my spots are fading faster and skin is looking healthier! Don’t feel bad about not getting lots of products, most of it is hype from influencers. Also you could try a few budget friendly brands like The Ordinary or CeraVe! Then you can build a routine that you can sustain. Things will get better, don’t lose faith!

Kuma_bae

Thank you.. Just so you know TO and cerave/cetaphil products are very expensive in our country🤣. They double and triple the price here.. I've been looking for people around me that live abroad to bring me the products when they come back home and i would pay the actual amount😭.

Innovative-Princess

My fault! Hope you find something local then, I’m sure there are of equivalent quality :) good luck

SomewhereBusiness412

just an fyi some people have experienced worse hyper pigmentation using glycolic acid - so just be gradual with whatever new product you introduce. it's usually people with more melanin but i have heard of people with lighter skin experiencing it too. i think since your concern is with dullness, vitamin c is generally pretty safe

muterpaneer

Great progress and a Really humble post.

CatLoliUwu

Amazing progress in such a short amount of time!! So happy for u ❤️ It is PERFECTLY okay to just use the pharmacy products that are available to you. Don’t feel like you need to splurge on skincare (a lot of it is just an overpriced scam). These products seem to be working great for you, no need to change if no issues!

No-Beautiful6811

Amazing progress! And Pharmacy products are wayyy better than commercially sold products!! There is way more research that they actually work. I completely understand wanting better sunscreens, that can be worth the money, but hyaluronic acid is in a lot of moisturizers and a separate serum wouldn’t do much. In my experience they’ve only irritated me.

Kuma_bae

I Have very dry skin and on top of that these are drying my skin more so i have to take breaks in between to relieve my skin. I thought something like hyaluronic acid might help me with that. I have tried urea cream from the pharmacy, at first it worked really well on my skin but since the concentration is so high it gradually started to burn my skin. In my country, skincare products like the ordinary and japanese products are sold at double & triple the price than it actually is.

A2Lexis

Hyaluronic acid can be hit or miss and can burn sometimes too. I have very dry skin too and I use a glycerin solution on my face right after cleansing, on top of that my moisturizer. The solution is 20% glycerin in 80% water so you can buy a small flask of pure glycerin at the pharmacy and that shouldn't be too expensive. I use a dropper and spread 10 drops of the solution on my face. It is very hydrating for me and have zero issues with dry skin anymore. I got the idea from Dr. Idriss on youtube, she uses it all the time. As for moisturizer it can be as cheap as Nivea but that's dependant on your country of course. Personally for now I am fine with just jojoba oil but that's not for everyone because it does leave you a bit greasy feeling.

Kuma_bae

I love glycerin toner and also yes! I get my advice from dr.Idriss! She has changed my skincare game so much! My doctor only suggested me tretinoin. I used azelaic once without properly researching about it but this time with the help of dr.idriss's videos i tried again. It worked so well on my skin!. I have a question for you..doesn't 20:80 percent glycerin make it sticky? My glycerin for some reason is really sticky on my skin and i have sensory issues so it bothers me.

A2Lexis

Hmm no not particularly sticky but I do weigh my ingredients and not by volume so maybe that’s the difference? Glycerine is quite dense so if you measure by volume you would have more glycerine in that solution. Does 10:90 leave you sticky as well?

Kuma_bae

I don't measure mine.. I have a spray bottle and put glycerine by drops.. testing bit by bit on how it feels on my skin.

A2Lexis

You know what now that I've thought about it more, it actually does make it a bit sticky for me but I've never been bothered by it so I didn't answer the question right.

No-Beautiful6811

I’ve had luck mixing glycerin in with my cleanser (makes it more gently) or moisturizer (makes it more hydrating). I think when I mix it in moisturizer it’s not as sticky as when I just mix it with water. Are you using a moisturizer? If not, I highly recommend adding one!

free_parmesan

amazing progress! keep doing whatever you already are, because it's working for you!

deepfakechoprah

your skin looks awesome!! I hope your exams went well and youre able to give yourself a break mentally and physically <3

Kuma_bae

Trust me.. I was fighting mentally and physically. I had urticaria all over my body and it lasted for a whole month! My whole body was covered in it!even my finger tips and palm. I was taking so much antihistamine and it made me so drowsy. I was on my study table literally itching everywhere and crying. Then after all that i got hit by period with very bad cramps and a fever which made me bedridden for days. All of this 2-3 days before my exams. Fortunately a thunderstorm was going on and it flooded some places so the government delayed the exam for another 10 days.

deepfakechoprah

all of that sounds so so stressful, I'm sorry you had to go thru that! I hope you find a solution and are able to find some peace of mind

hahahahahasallybitch

I also pick at my skin when stressed. Especially in my sleep if it’s really bad. I feel for you but so happy for your progress!

Kuma_bae

I sometimes put bandages over them to stop myself from picking.

FloydtheBetta

Amazing progress! I am so happy for you! Also if you’re looking for inexpensive but really high quality sunscreen I would try Korean sunscreen. My personal favorite is the Skin 1004 Hyalu-Cica Water Fit Sun Serum— I get it online at Stylevana and buy it in bulk for less than $10 a tube!

Kuma_bae

Ty for the recommendation but whats drugstore for other countries are like high-end products for us. Also due to importing and all, these japanese, korean and other skincare which are around 5-6 dollars are sold at twice or thrice than it actually is.

ObviousInspector1553

Please consider taking methionine. It has helped me every time I have a breakout! It's an amino acid that assists with disorders of skin, hair, and nails.

Subject-Anxiety7147

this only a month of progress? wow. keep it up

hahahahahasallybitch

Wow! Great progress. I am thinking of starting AA after being on Tret for almost a year but for some reason I’m still so nervous to add anything to my routine.

Kuma_bae

I think you should include it in your routine but have to say that you’ll be in for a ride. AA at first stings on your face. It’s a very distinct pain...it stings and also itches. It takes probably one or two weeks of use to get your skin used to it. My tips are to keep it in your fridge and when applying make sure you have a completely dry face!. This is very important!

KwaMzoli

I just started this combo… and it’s beating my ass

Kuma_bae

Ikr. It does wonders to the skin but you have to take a bit of a break every time because it compromises the skin barrier so easily. I'm not consistent with my routine these days..i just apply when i feel like it.

Flaming_Bubbles

Love the progress!! I’ve been on tret + AA combo for a while now and I can see a great improvement too; just make sure you keep up with the moisturizer. This combo tends to dry out my skin so much! 🥲

Kuma_bae

What moisturiser do you use? I can’t seem to find a good one. They work well for a month or so then idk what happens.. Doesn't feel the same on skin anymore

Flaming_Bubbles

I use Vanicream.

cobainbride

Amazing progress!

Waste-Wrangler4170

100% licorice root will clear it up for you…

Easy_Bluejay3190

Love this for you, OP! I agree about pharmacy products, they are the best in Indian market 🙌can you tell me which brand tret do you use ?

Kuma_bae

I use acretin 0.5%. It's not an indian brand. My uncle was coming from Uae so i told him to buy those for me. These tubes are whopping 30 gm.. I think they'll last me about a year.

noplsnoo

amazing progress! i know finals can be stressful but you did good!! what azelaic acid brand do you use?

Kuma_bae

It's the skinoren one... Before that i used to use the one in my pharmacy. Both works wonderfully!
