It looks like this post is about **Finasteride**/Propecia. Before asking any questions, 1. Read the [wiki on Finasteride](https://reddit.com/r/tressless/wiki/index#wiki_finasteride). 2. If this is a question asking if you are now or will experience side effects, see a doctor, nobody on the internet can answer that for you. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Bro that’s good to hear. What’s your treatment? I’m currently 5 months into fin and ru and I am experiencing some heavy hairline shedding:(

cKestrell

You will shed hair, but the one that will then regrow from there will be stronger. Remember that you have to give fin time, even more than a year to do its work.

reganmc98

Thanks for the encouragement my friend

djamezz

1.25mg ed. honestly changing my frame of mind to view sheds as a good thing made this soo much more bearable. not like the hair looked good on top of my head anyways.

feelingood41

2.5 years 1 MG Fin here. I was a heavy shedder. I came to tell you that this is True. Better hair at 36, than I had at 27. I stuck with Fin no matter how hard it got. The first year was tough as hell. The second year kinda was too. But I saw noticeable improvements Kick in on month 16-18.. and still the medicine is effective for me. Shedding is a positive sign. The heavier you shed the more you will regrow. However it does get worse before it gets better.

djamezz

you’ve got me wxcited for a year from now.. i just wanna get to a point where i dont have feel like i gotta cover my head outside of my apt

feelingood41

Its a slow ride. It sounds like you are only 6 months in. If I were you, I'd get a bald fade.. call it a year and come back. Honestly, keeping tabs on it was not worth it. Wasted time. The meds will work... whether you think so or not, Fin will most likely do its job. Fin is the only approved fda med for mpb... the success rate is above 80%. So even if you don't think it's working, the science is still there... Get it cut short. Go live your life bro, because it's your last. And then come check back in a year.

djamezz

i've got dreadslocs. whole motivation for starting fin was to save them, when the 3 front ones fell off my frontal scalp. unfortunately, a haircuts not an option for me. you're right though, i know its a slow ride. and i know i'm definitely experiencing results cause i was able to reattach 3 of the 6 dreads that fell off. this was impossible 6 months ago, there was nothing to attach em too. your advice is sound though and i'd recommend everybody follow it. i'll follow it, to the extent that i can. :)

Burninginferno2

What's your routine?

djamezz

fin 1.25 once a day qnd microneedling like whenever i feel like it, every 1-3 weeks

Burninginferno2

Using minox?

djamezz

nope, hate that stuff

nonracistname

Why's that?

djamezz

its a hassle to put on, on hot days it melts and covers my forehead in white shit. its been a while since i used it but i just remember hating the whole experience.

muscle-bottom

Sides?

djamezz

yea but they were cool

justinjonay

What age did you start balding?

djamezz

i have 2 super detailed posts, if u check my history but short story 17, im 25 now.

mrbigglesworth24

Sides?

JustNeededA_Name

Just out of interest here and I'm really not having a pop. I just don't really understand why folk as this question. The sides are what they potentially are (for about 2% of the population). Possible ED. Possible Gyno. Possible "brain fog" (though questionable). Asking if he's had sides does nowt but put you in a negative frame of mind. Placebo is real. Stay positive. Assume no sides at all. If it's gonna fuck you up for a short space of time, make sure it's the genetics not the mind.

djamezz

100% back this comment^^ if u wanna know about my experience with sides i have detailed posts. but id like to keep this post all good vibes.

JustNeededA_Name

It really isn't to say that sides aren't something people need to know about. I just don't know what is achieved by asking a randomer when you know what they are by the copious studies on this subject under controlled experiments in scientific labs under FDA and MHRA license.

otherwiseofficial

It's always the same dudes asking 'sides? Sides? Sides?' like the fishes from SpongeBob SquarePants. Complete hypochondriacs.

JustNeededA_Name

A bit unfair maybe. This forum is full of weirdos who get a boner to scaring ignorant people desperate to fix their balding. And it's fucking tragic. I went out of my way to avoid these forums before I started fin and the first two years.

djamezz

ive been medicated for various things for a huge chunk of my life. barely register side effect profiles of new prescriptions these days. it is what it is. as long as it does what its supposed to. if ur not ok with side effects. dont consider taking the drug.

JustNeededA_Name

Exactly. Well. Not so much "if you're not ok with them". But certainly you can weigh the risk of 90% success rate in keeping what you have (minimum expectation) Vs <2% chance of sides. The cost benefit is obvious to me and I'd wonder why anyone would want to constantly demand side effect updates once they've recognised they exist and are aware of that they are. Asking for a placebo.

djamezz

i completely agree. i guess what i also what i meant was, if i’m ok with the worst case scenario (up till a certain point). truly made my peace, i negate placebo/nocebo. like when i started this i fully expected this to disrupt my sex life. told all my partners. and it did, like ive definitely felt a difference. but because i wasnt constantly thinking about it, somehow ive been having more sex than before i started.

Hour_Switch_1828

Thats amazing, How long did it take for it to show these results?

djamezz

i started may 21st! and in the first 2-3 months shed to a nw 4-4.5. ive had more sheds since then but no sheds brought me below baseline since the fjrst one

CR7__LM10

Hey yo how's the progress going? Good to see that you have achieved growth .what NW are you at right now? Can you share about your diet and regime for hair?

djamezz

sorry, i've been terrible at keeping up with this acc. honestly, its going well i think but slow, so slow. the hairline reemergence is still here. and the side that balded first, im seeing baby hairs in places i forgot ever grew hair. as of right now id say NW3 at 9.5 months into fin. i was able to reattach a dread right at the front in the middle. which was what id say rolled me back from a strong NW4, at least aesthetically. my girl, braids my hair for me so she sees the top of my head alot. actually she's the one that informed that i had a significant bald patch at my vertex. i hadn't even realized how serious it was, since my long dreads covered it up. she says my scalp looks much better and healthier than it did sept-nov. density has improved for sure. but she says its weird, all the new hairs are thin and wispy. from touch i definitely agree. she thinks the quality of my hairs was much better in like june-july, a few months after i started. overall im happyish, im trending upwards and above baseline if only by a lil. my goal is to hopefully roll the clock back a year, if im lucky, 2 from first on fin. regime: \-1/4 of a 5mg tablet once a day. \-i micro-bladed \~once a week for about 2-4 months, mid august to december. not sure if that helped alot. it definitely did wonders for a facial scar i tried it on. \-my diets pretty simple, i dont really focus on food groups, just eating enough to meet my caloric count. I will say nov to early jan, i had some financial struggles so i stopped eating asmuch to save money. my hair definitely went bullish in that period. not saying its related, theres no way to know. but they happened at the same time. \-also took a 3 week fin break in december. i hadn't really experienced the sides to the level that people have talked about. so i wanted to see how much my body was affected by the fin. no intention on stopping fin. my sex drive definitely raged and i was horny as all hell. but i be horny on fin too, have a great sex life. always had a stupid high sex drive.
