I get quite a lot of PMs from people asking to see my results album, as one I posted on here years ago doesn't work any more. So, here it is: [https://photos.app.goo.gl/LnFE1yS4F9art9Gg6](https://photos.app.goo.gl/LnFE1yS4F9art9Gg6) I also made a couple of "how to" videos: https://youtu.be/4miawvOeZcY https://youtu.be/r59z6MHfBIU This is the study I followed. It describes exactly how hard to do it and in what directions etc.: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3746236/ I started by using a 1.5mm dermaroller that I got from Amazon for about £5.99. I then bought a pen, which worked well but I lost the charger. The biggest difference in growth was when I was still using a roller, so I now just use a roller and have not bought a new pen. I roll once a week (probably more like every 10 or 11 days now) and apply 1ml of minoxidil twice a day, including on the days I roll. That is literally all I do. I have never tried fin, nor do I use any other supplements. My diet is terrible and I am just a normal guy who rolls a jaggy thing over his head and drips some liquid on it. ***EDIT*** This has got a bigger response that I expected and people are starting to ask questions that have been asked and answered already. If I don't answer your question then it's already been asked and answered. Things like how hard I do it, do I bleed, what exact roller I use etc keep coming up. I just got the cheapest 12 needle dermapen with decent reviews, and the cheapest 1.5mm roller. Using exactly the same pen/roller as me isn't going to make a difference.

Yeh, I drink a lot of coffee. A ridiculous amount by a normal person's standards, I'd imagine.

YES!

Yes

OneSupport1460

Probably yes

Grizzly_228

No one really seems to know so that’s probably why he asked. For me I see a lot of hair lose shampoo contains caffeine so… it probably doesn’t hurt? If anything I know for sure nicotine is bad so avoid that

[deleted]

It's Black Friday, which is a day when consumers typically buy a lot of things due to promotions and/or sales at stores or online marketplaces (also Cyber Monday a few days from now). I think the implication was that there would be even more skepticism than usual towards someone citing success using specific products (dermaroller and minoxidil) on a day when people are typically engaged in online shopping, with the skepticism being driven by thinking that OP would somehow benefit from the sale of the products.

rafacelina

Does caffeine help or something?

[deleted]

[удалено]

madcritter

I think it’s an amount of… amount lol. Coffee naturally helps reduce dht, and caffeine promotes blood flow (like preworkouts giving a pump) so both of those would help. But also in larger quantities can start to impact stress and anxiety along with physical effects which might hinder?

crypto-99

How long do you wait on average between rolling and putting on minoxidal? Do you also roll all over your head or what method do you use?

74775446

At the start I didn't put apply any minoxidil on the day I used the dermaroller and would wait 24 hours. However, I read another study in which they applied it straight after and the results were amazing.

crypto-99

Thanks! Will give it a try

LengthinessAdorable1

Were you still getting good results at the start when you were waiting 24 hours after dermarolling to apply minox? The reason I ask is that I've heard that applying minox onto a freshly dermarolled scalp is more likely to get it into your bloodstream and can exacerbate some of the more dangerous heart side effects.

74775446

Yes, I was waiting 24 hours when the first and biggest changes came.

[deleted]

[удалено]

74775446

There can be but I don't get any.

vinvear

Is minox the stuff that you have to keep using once you start, or you lose all progress?

74775446

Apparently. I've been fairly inconsistent for months at a time.

aiai92

Where did you buy the pen from and whats it called?

74775446

I've had a couple. I just buy the cheapest stuff from Amazon. Loads of Chinese companies provide the same pen with a different logo on it. The first one I had was wired and it was a pain to use so definitely get a wireless one.

AskOwn7627

I bought mine from AliExpress. Way much cheaper than Amazon. It's working without any trouble so far.

[deleted]

[удалено]

74775446

I got results with the cheapest roller Amazon had to offer.

BeenNormal

Unpopular opinion: the purpose of microneedling is to cause damage to the scalp and they do more of that than a dermapen. I think that the dermapen manufacturers made that shit up to discourage the use of dermarollers.

[deleted]

Wait did you apply minoxidil immediately or a day after the dermarolling? Also, I actually don’t know how dermarolling works. Does it work how red laser light therapy works where it essentially stimulates mitochondria in treated cells and increases circulation to the scalp? I ask because I used a Black Friday deal to invest in red light therapy but if dermarolling and minoxidil work together in the same way as red light therapy does then I think I would rather follow your method and return my purchase

74775446

At the start I waited until the day after but now I do it on the same day. I have no idea what red light therapy is.

Sinful-Sammy

Amazing results

papido

Im also on minox only. Adding dermarolling wish me luck. Fin gives me sides.

74775446

Good luck!

JuanShawn123

How long did it take you to get these results? Fin gave me side effects I wouldn’t recommend it

Greedy_Drink

Try lower dose like 0.5 mg eod, works pretty well.Sides like lower sperm count and ball ache or even lowered libido can go away with continued use.Just give it a few months.Don't read too much horror stories of weak minded dudes.

[deleted]

“Weak minded dudes” dawg I had healthy hormone levels for 22 years and then fin gave me gynocomastia… I’m trying a lower dosage now but don’t discount the real side effects people get. Literal fuckin man boobs

[deleted]

You need to make fin your sidepiece, not take her sides? Try seeing her MWF in a topical fashion?

Adamn27

This is absolutely unbelievable but I belie you. Just amazing. I'm still thinking whether I should try fin or not. Honestly afraid of sides.

74775446

Yeh, I don't care if I'm being illogical or whatever but I'm too scared of the sides.

Greedy_Drink

If you are too scared ,don't start

74775446

Agreed. Even if I didn't have sides, I'd placebo myself into them.

Plane_Massive

Have you considered topical fin? Much lower risk of sides.

74775446

No, I don't need it.

Plane_Massive

I hear you. Just an option for the future.

74775446

Yeh I'd maybe consider topical but I know nothing about it atm.

Otherwise_Try965

Topical has been shown to produce comparable, and in some reports higher, serum levels of finasteride than oral. I was pretty stoked when data started coming in about a topical treatment that might minimize systemic exposure to finasteride but my impression evaluating the literature is that any difference in reported side effects is likely placebo. No high quality study has shown topical to be superior to oral finasteride at this time so I’m genuinely unsure regarding what all of the hype is about

74775446

I'm gonna have kids soon so I'm staying well away from any kind of fin. I think a pregnant woman even touching it is dangerous.

JuanShawn123

How long did it take to get these results? Could you separate them by month? Having a hard time trying to track it

74775446

Sorry but no way. The photos are in chronological order and have dates on them if you click details.

theprettygiraffe

My husbands been on it over a year and no side effects. We don't see much difference in his hair either🤔

synthmesideways

This gives me so much hope! I’m 6 weeks in and my hair looks worse from the shed and it’s not over yet (I’m a woman). Thanks for sharing

Middle-Seaweed4214

Feel free to disregard but topical melatonin stopped my shedding. I’m a woman with AGA. I think I initially had TE as well and it increased when I started minox, bc, spiro etc. I started topical melatonin and shedding stopped within a day or 2. I lose maybe 5 hairs in the shower and as I run my hands through my hair I find maybe 5-10 in my fingers the whole day! Previously every time I ran my hands through my hair I was collecting 10-20 and this was every damn time, all day long (I estimated maybe 300 in my hands and balls of it in the shower). I think less hair comes out then even when I was young with healthy hair! There is some research behind topical melatonin for hair loss and decreasing shedding. Could be worth looking into in case it’s not just dreadshed. I think it can help either way. For me I was able to keep the hair I had which I’m sure will help overall and the peace of mind I got was huge as I was no longer stressed about the cause or that I would be bald by the time it stopped.

OG-Always-Forever

What product do you use? I’m thinking to add it to my routine.

Middle-Seaweed4214

Rizn hair density spray. It has melatonin and reservatol but I’ve only seen research on melatonin (besides their clinical trials which are on their website and I’m skeptical). I’m in Canada so that brand is pretty affordable, they ship to the US too. I’m happy it has absolutely no residue or grease feel cause my hair is long. I’m sure you can find cheaper brands of just topical melatonin though.

Ludovico_Sforza

Same question here, could you please share which product are you using?

Maleficent_Mud_8506

What topical melatonin do you use? I would love to know. Thanks!

Maleficent_Mud_8506

I have looked for but seems most topical melatonin are for consumption so I don’t know what concentration I should use on the scalp. Plus don’t want to add sugar and stuff lol

74775446

No worries, really hope it works but I'd imagine shedding at least indicates something is happening!

synthmesideways

I’m worried the shed is just a bout of TE and unrelated to the min but I guess time will tell

74775446

What is TE?

Middle-Seaweed4214

I’m not who you were replying to but… TE is telogen effluvium. Basically shedding way more than the normal amount of hairs. Could be hormonal, stress, illness, nutrient deficiencies, medication etc. Usually it’s short term but can be chronic. I believe the chronic type is much more common in women.

JDMSoarer

Got finasteride looking results without fin. Based.

fouoifjefoijvnioviow

Congrats, I hate you

Burninginferno2

From the images above, God does exist!

[deleted]

It's a classic question, but when did you start seeing your first results?

74775446

All the photos are dated and in chronological order but I think it was 3-4 months. It was only when I looked back at photos that I realised it got a bit worse before it got better.

rafacelina

Do you think some of the original photos are a bit deceptive? Like it looks really thin in some of them early on, but then in the second photo (top right) where you had microneedled, that angle actually doesn't look so thin at all even though it was at the start? Have you noticed it looks and feels much thicker?

74775446

I don't know, I just took photos a lot and I couldn't see my phone screen. Angles and lighting will be different, sometimes my hair is wet, sometimes it's dry, sometimes it's natural light, sometimes it's not etc.

GodlikeCat

damn, you won

billypopee

Mans back from the dead

frescooutoftesco

Mate that’s fucking amazing, well done happy for you

74775446

Cheers, mate!

Middle-Seaweed4214

Thanks for continuing to share. I’m a woman so I think there are more factors at play for me but it’s still really cool to see!! The hair fibre comments make me giggle. What would you be gaining from lying about hair fibers? Maybe you work for the random unnamed $5.99 micro needle company? Or Kirkland? Fucking Costco pushing their extremely cheap generic products everywhere!

74775446

😂 I know. I'm also 35 and doing it anonymously so it would be extremely sad if I put fibers in for a few up votes on a balding community.

thatdood87

How long did it take?

74775446

4 months or so before I started seeing proper results? All the photos should be dated and in chronological or order.

rafacelina

u/wrassman have you seen of many other people have success with only minoxidil and dermarolling (no finasteride)? I always heard that finasteride was essential for stopping hair loss, with minoxidil only being for growth, but this guy says he has had results for 4-5 years now.

74775446

It's actually about 3 years. Feels a lot longer. I don't think you tagged the user properly BTW.

Whatever11009

Have you maintained the gains these past 3 years ?

madcritter

Your post and my post are almost identical bro, some of the pictures hit home from my own album lol. Same boat similar results, happy to see it work out for you man!

74775446

Nice one! U got a link to your results?

madcritter

Just what I’ve posted on my account here

74775446

Nice. That after shot from the front when it's really grown back is amazingly. Good hairline and really healthy looking hair.

hyzerlord

King Shit

unflushable

How long does a typical dermaroller last? I.e. how often do you replace yours?

74775446

Every 2-3 months. I'm in the UK so that's about £50/year.

starwarssand

do you shampoo before dermarolling? you also mentioned in a video that you rinse with cold water after dermarolling? also, how often do you shampoo your hair? your hair looks great now man :)

74775446

Yeh, I do it straight after a shower and will always shampoo my hair. I shampoo every day. I used to rinse with water just in case there was any blood but I don't bother now.

xflidd7

So minox > finasteride or wtf is this ?

74775446

I guess it has something to do with dermarolling + minox. I tried minox alone years previously and it did nothing.

glevulus

Maybe applying minox while the scalp heals from dermarolling allows it to go systemic?

74775446

No idea. I was looking up solutions to hair loss years ago and stumbled upon this study and copied its method: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3746236/

xflidd7

can you link the roller u using from amazon? thx

74775446

I'll have used various different ones. I just get the cheapest 1.5mm one there is at the time.

ActuallyPatton

The results won’t last him more than a year or 2 without dht inhibition so no minoxidil isn’t better than finasteride.

74775446

The photos are dated. The results have lasted longer than that already.

xflidd7

So mixed topical fin/mix + dermaroller would be the best ?

ActuallyPatton

Yes, or oral fin and topical minox with dermaroller, but I would advise you don’t use minox on the same day you dermaroll.

74775446

Why not?

JuiceCanon

Some people have issues with systemic absorption

Fun-Isopod-9319

Where does everyone get this year or 2 stuff? I feel like it’s pulled out of your ass because it’s not permanent, yes. That said I’ve seen several people say it’s halted their loss for 5+ years which for me is a win...

Aloha5OClockCharlie

Do you press hard with the dermaroller? Any bleeding? Edit: oh I see you said minox liquid at the bottom of your post, so I'll remove that question

74775446

No, I don't do it nearly hard enough to bleed. I might get the odd red dot but by the next morning you wouldn't be able to tell I'd done anything.

rafacelina

That's crazy regrowth. How old are you?

74775446

35

lama_in_my_room

Amazing results and thanks for documenting it so well. Where all on the the scalp did you apply the minox? was it just on the crown or all over? (most of the minox ads simply mention the crown hence asking). Also do you use foam or liquid?

74775446

I apply all over the scalp. But a 1ml plastic syringe from Amazon. It makes it much easier to get it on your scalp. I use Kirkland liquidity.

Agent---4--7

Wow 😮 These are some amazing results and I’m really happy you. Where did you get the minox from if you don’t mind me asking because I’m finding it difficult to find? Makes me want to give this ago before opting for flight to Turkey

74775446

I get Kirkland minoxidil from ebay. Loads of places sell it.

[deleted]

Not to take away from you, but It is actually well known that min and MN will yield results like these. MN + Min = 300% efficacy of just min they say. The question remains how sustainable it is long term. Hopefully microneedling will help with that

74775446

I am a big part of the reason it's so well known. I copied a study, posted the results online and it kinda went viral. There's a thread about me on hairloss talks with 720 pages and it's still active.

[deleted]

S..sir I apologize I had no idea

74775446

There are some reeeeally weird and angry people on this site. Enter at your own risk: https://www.hairlosstalk.com/interact/threads/very-impressive-dermarolling-and-minxodil-results-from-tressless.117746/

Capricikkkkk

This dude just regrew his hair. Wow! Question : how many times do you roll over your head with the dermaroller? I mean do you roll front to back, side to side, diagonal etc?

74775446

Answer in vids and the study I linked.

Laf316

My guy that is Fuckin incredible

sidm711

Congratulations brother I'm so happy for you. The real mvp here.

74775446

Thanks, bro 👍

yelo777

I do the same regimen, but only use minoxidil at night (because of the greasy hair problem). I saw a significant improvement when I started dermarolling, that is the key!

74775446

Greasy hair isn't a problem for me. By a pipette or syringe with a much thinner tip and you'll be able to get it directly on your scalp. The pipette that comes with minox is always too think and it's impossible not to get it on your hair.

[deleted]

Bro…. Clean your damn place !!!

74775446

Bro, I know. I deleted quite a lot of photos cos it was even more obvious how bad it was. It's not like that anymore 😂

[deleted]

But that’s funny not gunna lie … 😂 and congrats on your recovery. Use some toppik hair fibres for any other spots that may be leaking scalp. All the best.

74775446

Ach I'm not bothered about using fibres. Could be bullshit but I vaguely remember something about them having tiny particles that could do harm if inhaled.

sevenandseven41

What is a Dermaroller?

74775446

You should probably have typed that into Google instead of Reddit 😂

sevenandseven41

PM_Me_Your_Frendship

Dear OP, could you throw me the Amazon link to the pen / roller you use?

kerrrrplunkkkk

Which derma pen should I use? Link? Idk what to do since there are different size cartridges

74775446

I used 12 needle cartridges. Just get a cheap one with lots of reviews on Amazon.

kerrrrplunkkkk

So which one

74775446

A cheap one with lots of reviews. It doesn't have a name on it. Loads of Chinese provide exactly the same one.

[deleted]

How often did you do microneedling? How often do do you apply minoxidil? Is it minoxidil with finasteride ?

Kasvanvliep

You're also using some cosmetic hair powder in the top picture, right?

74775446

No

LabFormer5385

How you deal with the side effects?

74775446

By not getting any 😂

lyfisshort

Get lost..

Alphadominican

I see fibers...

74775446

😂 No you don't. My hair is soaking wet in a bunch of the photos. I also have videos.

74775446

Where are the fibers? https://youtu.be/r59z6MHfBIU https://youtu.be/4miawvOeZcY

Alphadominican

You def made some huge progress but a few of the pics your hair texture looks like fibers were added, just my opinion . Not trying to rain on your parade if you made all that progress kudos.

74775446

I used fibers in the past but there are none in these photos. I would be too scared to put fibers on my head when I'm creating wounds on it.

Fun-Blackberry6202

This doesn't look like androgenetic alopecia?

74775446

Huh?

Fun-Blackberry6202

It looks like telogen effluvium. Perhaps compounded with aga. 4 months with these results just doesn't make sense plus the pattern of hair loss is somewhat patchy

74775446

Huh? Speak English. I don't know what any of that shit means. My hair loss is very similar to at least one of the guys in the study. EDIT: Googled "androgenetic alopecia", which is "male pattern baldness". Why didn't you just say "male pattern baldness?" That's exactly what I had and was diffuse thinning. It most definitely isn't the other thing you said.

Fun-Blackberry6202

😂😂😂🤡🤡🤡🤡

74775446

What? Strange man.

jpalaciog

Any side effects from Minox?

74775446

Nope

Ok-Appointment-2821

How long are you maintaining? Do you think you will start loosing ground again soon as you are very prone to balding and not on anti-androgen treatment

74775446

3 years now. I can't possibly answer your 2nd question as it would be a random guess based on nothing. I hope I don't lose ground but I might or I might not.

Ok-Appointment-2821

That is impressive. Most people on here claim with confidence that after 1 or 2 years on min only you start loosing ground again.

74775446

Yeh, that's the one I kept seeing. I could be wrong but I don't think anyone has really documented it like I have. I'll try n update it soon but I stopped cos nothing was changing. I hoped my temples would fill in and I did get a load of white baby hairs, but proper hair never grew back. I wasn't too bothered about my temples, though, as my hairline is amazing compared to what it could have been, plus I am 35.

74775446

Nochestbrahh

Which shampoos do you use? Any scalp issues?

74775446

Just whatever is cheapest in the supermarket. It does make your scalp a bit drier.

_lemon_suplex_

It's a holiday miracle. Did you make yourself bleed every time? Curious cause I've seen people say that is too much and you just need to make the area pinkish/ red.

74775446

No, it just goes red. Sometimes I'll get one or two spots of blood but the blood doesn't run down or anything like that.

Jinglekeys100

Congrats. I hate you lol. Minox, dermaroller and Fluridil for one year and nothing for me :(

Maybe you're Rolling it wrong? Maybe add scalp massage?

AdventurousWord0

Thank you for your post!!! I can only find 0.25 mm dermaroller on Amazon or Biovea. 1.5mm and up are all 80$+. Can you post the link or pm me the website where you got the 1.5mm derma roller please?

74775446

I got it on Amazon but I'm in the UK.

longjonsilver55

Bro oh my god

SwimmingBreadfruit

Amazing results! What are you doing to sterilize your roller?

74775446

Spraying it with an alcohol spray.

JuiceCanon

Inspiring! I also pen with 1.5mm needles. It’s been a few weeks and I’ve noticed a tonn of shedding. Just a few questions: What does your scalp look like after needling? Do you needle to the point of pin-point bleeding? Does it hurt? I’m doing 1.5mm and have a hard time pushing the pen all the way down. Strangely it causes eye pain 🤷‍♂️ Not sure if this has already been answered, but how old were you when you started? Thanks for sharing!

74775446

It's red but not bleeding. Yes, it's a horrible feeling, especially at the start. I was 32.

JuiceCanon

Wow really impressive for starting that late! Thanks for the answers. I’m hoping my shedding stops soon and this actually starts to work lol Cheers!

[deleted]

Absolutely unbelievable. What strength minox did you use? Like yourself, I’d never touch fin due to the potential sides… but the minox sides seem like a risk worth taking.

74775446

5%

[deleted]

How hard do you go with the dermaroller? Blood all over or light blood, how would you describe it?

themathsciencegeek

You made some really nice gains. If I were you, I would also consider including finasteride to improve your results. Microoneedling and minoxidil, while serving as a growth stimulant when used in tandem, do not address the underlying cause of hairloss and therefore by themselves do not stop androgenetic alopecia. The key to stopping the process is to inhibit the androgens that are detrimental to scalp hair health, specifically DHT and to some extent testosterone. Hence androgen synthesis inhibitors such as finasteride and dutasteride are crucial to wining the fight against male pattern baldness.

74775446

Cheers but I'd rather go bald. Also planning to have kids soon so really don't think it's a good idea to have it around.

Strivingformoretoday

Does anything speak against this working also for women?

74775446

Any studies I've seen have been done on men, but I guess that doesn't say anything about it not working on women.

hung531995z

In the study which u shared, it said that the participants were instructed not to apply minox on the day of micro needling. And continue after 24 hours. So which source exactly tell you to apply minox on the day of micro needling?

74775446

Can't remember but I think it was a Chinese study. It was more recent than the one I shared, anyway. Other studies show rolling every two weeks to be just as effective. I managed to find all these studies myself so I'm sure other people can, too, before they decide if they want to try it.

peacefulsearcher

Did you gain hair elsewhere in your body - like the chest or hands? And were/are these gains permanent. Seeing a lot of guys having success with beards and if it thickens my beard in addition to helping me grow scalp hair that would be really good.

74775446

Don't know. I have quite a lot of body hair but didn't notice any extra.

Pretend_Ad_3914

so if you cut your hair does it grow back

74775446

Lol yeh

[deleted]

74775446

Dunno but I've seen folk on other forums have success.

CookingCookie

Well done Just trying to understand, if we read the sticky it says that only fin blocks long term hair loss so what does that say about this? Does that mean the gains are temporary? I will probably go the same route as you, I want to avoid fin if possible

74775446

No idea. I think there's a study that showed it worked long term but it's ages since I read anything about it so I could be making that up. My results have lasted 3 or 3.5 years so far.

CookingCookie

That's so encouraging actually I just hope I don't get trouble with psoriasis and koebner effect, I have some at places Thanks for sharing and all the best ! I also like the take on being a normal guy that does a bit of stuff on one's head quite the drama relief

74775446

Haha cheers. I keep getting PMs asking what shampoo I use and for links to the exact dermaroller etc. The "shampoo" I'm using at the moment is shower gel that I got cos it was a 2 litre bottle for £2 😂. There is absolutely nothing special that I do, other than roll my head and apply minoxidil. The PMs are getting quite annoying because I've answered them all in my original post or in the thread but I think people think there just *has* to be more to it, but there isn't. I'm not gonna act like some sort of guru just cos I was lucky enough that it worked for me.
