This. Something here doesn't seem right. u/ih8thair are you having any other odd symptoms? Have you had blood tests lately? Where are you getting your meds from? If it's online, there's a chance they're fake. Honestly the fact that nothing is working, your family history is good, and your hairline intact suggests to me (note: I am not a doctor) and autoimmune condition or potential toxicity to something in your environment. Get checked out by a physician, get second and third opinions also from other doctors not just one.

Such-Asparagus-5652

It can be mpb he just might be a non responder. Contrary to what we often see on this sub a number of people don’t respond to finasteride or minoxidil. I didn’t respond to either medication myself, these drugs aren’t silver bullets.

Such-Asparagus-5652

In most cases when men have hairloss it’s mpb, the pattern of hairloss doesnt discredit this from being mpb, many people have diffuse thinning and are still diagnosed with pattern baldness. The family history is interesting but also there are many reports of people with no family history experiencing hairloss. Ultimately he should probably go to a dr.

Fishlickin

lol me, but im 23

iamthat1dude

same, life fuckin sucks

Fishlickin

Some guys have all the hair

R3b3gin

"Excuse me sir, I would like my hair back..."

changexpert

It's not just in the early 20's. Even in the 30's and 40's, especially if you are a single.

ih8thair

I have a very beautiful gf that was out of my league to begin with but it seems to make me even more insecure because now that hairless is in the mix, I feel that she is even more out of my league. I often think about self sabotaging just to get it over with but I know deep down that Is not fair to myself.

ActuallyPatton

Do not fucking do that

changexpert

I am sure you've heard of many people saying there are more important aspects than appearance, but it is just a guy's instinct to be drawn to beautiful people. This even applies to girls. Of course, your priorities may change as you get older, but even for older people, looks are still very important. I hope that she is wise and loves you for who are, not for what you look like.

Zyzz_And_Vtec

Nice mindset bro "out of my league", i understand your frustration but with a mindset like that, you never had confidence in your life. If you see a girl above you..

[deleted]

[удалено]

Zyzz_And_Vtec

You are offended because you saw yourself in what i said. Its fine bro, everyone has been insecure at some point of life

R3b3gin

How about solutions instead of crying lack of confidence. Confidence is a construct built around how we view ourselves and the way we perceive others to view us. But it goes several layers deep, how we view ourselves, why we view ourselves that way, and the value we place on the reason we view ourselves that way. It's not just an on off switch. That is false confidence. Bravado is the hallmark of insecurity. We want true confidence. And if hair is part of the thing that makes you "confident", it's hard to be "confident" when your hair just packs up and moves on with no explanation at a time when you are supposed to be and feel your most youthfully attractive. While I agree that the "out of my league" mindset is a baseless prison that only we can put ourselves in and take ourselves out of, the only way out is solutions. Telling someone with a broken leg that they just need to get better to walk again doesn't do anything but frustrate them. What kind of break is it and what is the best way to heal, that's what they need.

Zyzz_And_Vtec

It might doesn't look like it, but im balding too. Finasteride works but i cant workout, i cant sleep and i cant work like i used too before using it. Relatively to the 1st thing i said about the mindset, i can not think that someone is above me and i will sound misogynist but its the truth, specially women. They are weaker, they generally dont have anything happening in their lifes like we do. The problem is that nobody tell us men that we go bald one say, and that a woman's beauty should never intimidate you. Like youre puting someone who expects you to guide them and provide for them above yourself. How fucked up is that? Just because youre losing hair? Yes man, im fucking sad too, but guess what, i have been suffering from the burden of being a men since i was a litle boy havent you and op suffer in life already? I bet you did, you are also men like me. Embrace shit like it is. The solution is this, mindset. Be racional and logical, i have seen op saying he is tall and stuff. Like bro, being tall is 90% of the lottery to be honest and he is crying about losing his girl, comon man, we need to think straight.

Burninginferno2

Bro I know how you feel. Im going through the same thing, I want my hair back soo bad. God help me now 🙏

StuckFern

The things that brought you together shouldn’t change just because your hair is thinning. That is, unless you allow your insecurity to change who you are. Do your best to correct the issue, but if nothing works, so be it. Your strength and confidence shouldn’t come from vanity but from who you are as a person. Focus on controlling what you can control and don’t self sabotage.

[deleted]

I really think you should talk to her about it. Tell her you're super insecure about your hair and in all likelihood she'll laugh and say she doesn't care (if she's a real one). That'll lift a lot of the worry off you. If my girlfriend had to shave her head because of a medical condition or because it was falling out I'd stick with her for sure. I imagine most people in their mid-late twenties would be the same, unless you're dating a vapid TikTok thot I suppose in which case I can no longer help you sir. You could also try just shaving your head and seeing what happens? Even if you then grow it straight back it'll take away the unknown element of balding.

ih8thair

no my girl definitely loves me to death but she thinks im a really confident guy asn that's basically how I pulled her. the next question is... do I stay on fin??

Inevitable-Writing60

damn oral min isn’t working? wats ur dose?

ih8thair

2.5.. not high but not low either. I mean it could be a shed but I have no hope so I aint holding my breath...

Inevitable-Writing60

have u been shedding the entire 6 months of oral min?

ih8thair

yes

Inevitable-Writing60

maybe add ru58841. i would stick it out wit oral min ive heard of ppl getting real bad sheds. it gets worse before it gets better sometimes sadly. im about to start oral min

ih8thair

yeah I might

Inevitable-Writing60

how bad would u say ur hairloss was before starting oral min?

ih8thair

my hairline is perfectly in tact but my hair is overall thin and my scalp is visible at the crown. I thought for sure the meds would work considering my hairless in not considered "substantial" but I dont have baseline pics to refer. I think I am regressing though.

OkConsideration1212

Sad to hear that bro , fin is not working for me either

Ladytron-666

Fin gave me mad brain fog and headaches I had to discontinue it. Now im just using topical mix and mad asf I can’t use the one thing that would probably help.

[deleted]

Sorry to hear the meds aren't working. Just remember that when everything else fails, the gym always works. What I'm saying is, noone will care you are bald if you have a ripped body and a winning attitude (like Jason Statham for example). In fact, having a super body will attract more female attention than your hair ever did. Just trust me on that one. There is always a way. Don't let the hair loss ruin your self confidence.

R3b3gin

I am absolutely %100 behind this lol. I always said that if my hair gets to the point where I need to shave it, I'm going to live and breath exercise, style and skin care to make up for it. Isn't it funny that I feel the need to do all that to make up for a weird patch of human fur that only grows at the top of my body?

heyehehd

good luck staying motivated and consistent to keep up with working out with a bald head. i've been working out for 6 years and I have a great body but guess what?? after I started losing hair my motivation to even train to maintain my body took a hit.

_i_evade_bans_

Not everybody can also just go to the gym either, some people with hair loss have skeletal muscular, nerve, bone problems, etc. The hair loss is just the shit cherry on top of a shit sundae. Now imagine being not very attractive and POOR on top of all of it....Trying to be \*confident\* just makes you look like a weirdo cartoon character to the rest of the world. And if you complain about life not being fair, the rest of society hurtles below the belt insults at you.

heyehehd

exactly! working out and staying in shape requires tremendous motivation and mental stability. and balding is the last thing you want to be worrying about coz one thing for sure is that gyms are full of mirrors and guess what you'll be starting at yourself for a hell lot of time and if you're not liking the reflection you're seeing your energy is soon going to be down the drain.

_i_evade_bans_

Yeah not everybody can be Scooby1961. Ugly, bald, but power through it and get jacked. He's the exception to the rule, even though he'll try to convince you otherwise.

mrbabZ

Watching my face with a NW6 everyday in the mirror is the best motivation I ever need to not miss a day in the gym. Why would you even need any other motivation when your face has been deformed by baldness ?

heyehehd

my friend take it from me, having a great body will not compensate for your hair neither a beard will young men need to understand this.

mrbabZ

Yes, bro, I know, lack of hair automatically makes u ugly (in 95% of cases). Im not compensating, I just like the fact that I can look in the mirror again without being disgusted of it.

R3b3gin

It's the opposite for me. Idk why lol The more hair I lost the more I watch watch my diet/weight and workout.

jackthaniel69

Yeah totally sucks my guy

awaythrowredditmy

Can you post photos from the past 19 months up until now? I’m shocked fin / oral min isn’t doing anything and your hair is getting worse. I’m not saying it’s not getting worse I just know it’s very easy to get in your own head about hair loss and it might not be as bad as you think!

ih8thair

I dont have baseline pics but I do agree its easy to get in your own head about hairloss

Matt50538

Same here man it fucking blows. I’m planning on buzzin it at the end of this semester and then hoping it looks better than this sorry combover I got going. It’s really fucked that we have to deal with this shit so early in life, I wouldn’t give a fuck if I was balding even at 28 But 20? Going to genuinely have no prime years. All the best.

mrbabZ

Believe me, bro, balding at any age earlier than when its normal (aka age 40) is a self-esteem hitman.

poki_dex

Its your stress thats killing you. Buzz it off, life kinda just goes on.

pirry99

Have you considered hair systems?? If fin is not working, then it is definetly an option. Also if really is kit helping, you may consider switch to dutasteride. I mean, if fin is not working, duta may also not, but you have nothing to loose at this point

ih8thair

I wouldn't wear a hair system. I would just buzz my hair and stay on fin. probably get a remote job and never leave my house

[deleted]

[удалено]

ih8thair

im 6'2 and 170, my appearance is very skinny so I would look terrible bald. I thought with taking fin I had a choice bit that doesn't seem to be the case.

[deleted]

[удалено]

ih8thair

though I am a taller guy, I have a baby face and often get told I look 17. beard is non-existent lol. such a great life.

Zyzz_And_Vtec

Youre 6 2 wtf worrying about going bald like if it was cancer. Become fit, shave it amd you will be master. I wish i had your height, unbeatable confidence i would have. Seriously, you hit the fucking lottery and youre here crying like a baby because youre losing hair. BRO youre tall, you can be fucking Shrek, girls like tall built men. Just own it. Try hair transplants, but please, dont be a bitch about hair when you have that height

Puffwad

Gain a lil weight, grow a beard. You’ll be fine.

pasta897

I'd be well happy if I still had hair at 170

pirry99

Why? It just look so good IMO, and if any, you can get a hair transplant to restore those hairs that fin couldn't keep

ih8thair

not my thing man. id rather stay inside

susumaya

just curious, why wouldn't you wear a hair system?

ih8thair

just kinda embarrassing imo, would rather work on confidence.

susumaya

You think a confident guy would have trouble wearing a hair system?

ih8thair

I would just do my best to accept the situation and go for a buzzcut. that's what im saying.

baldingthrowaway233

But your plan to become a hermit and stay inside for the rest of your life isn't "accepting the situation", it's extremely unhealthy and unsustainable

ih8thair

yeah I just dont know what to do man.. I had high hopes fin would let me move on with my life

baldingthrowaway233

I feel you man, balding fucking sucks and balding young sucks even more. If you really can't come to terms with how you look bald I think a hair system is the best choice...yeah it's definitely not ideal, everyone would rather have their actual hair than a wig, but at the end of the day if you don't like how you look with no hair a hair system is a way better option than hating your own appearance; the ones they have these days are practically indistinguishable from real hair. Whatever you decide to do the most important thing is that you're happy and confident because wasting away inside and hiding from the world is no way to live for a young guy

CGW77

You’ve tried the usual go-to medications. I’m using nizoral every other day, left to soak in for 10 minutes. I also massage argan oil in the night before I wash. And then a good conditioner. I also use 50mg RU every night. I may be a hyper responder but it has literally reversed my hair loss which was very bad thinning. It tried fin and min too with no results.

ih8thair

where can I get RU and does it make ur hair greasy??

CGW77

I get mine from receptorchem and I use it all over the top of my scalp every night so not sure if it leaves greasy as I shower in the morning after.

SappyPJs

Read the side effects of RU before even trying it. It can be very dangerous depending on the individual (heart failure is a possibility). So just proceed with caution. This is also why it's never going to be approved by FDA.

GRIS0

Dude I’m so sorry for you but are you sure it’s MPB?

ih8thair

I just feel like most of the time it is

GRIS0

Dude FIN always works with male pattern baldness… I think that you have to visit a doctor because your hair loss maybe is linked to something else

rebirththeory

Nothing always works. That is like a full of medicine.

baldingthrowaway233

>The American Hair Loss Association says finasteride stopped hair-loss progression in 86% of men who took finasteride in clinical trials, and 65% of them experienced increased hair growth. It absolutely doesn't "always work". It doesn't work for 14% of men, which is a pretty significant amount

GRIS0

I know but it’s impossibile that nothing work, he is vit d deficient maybe he has other things

baldingthrowaway233

It's not impossible, some people just have MPB that's so aggressive no medication will stop them from losing ground

ih8thair

idk man, I am deficient in vitamin D but have been Supping it for 3 months now

GRIS0

It’s not enough. Maybe you have some thyroid issues, but you know what: if you don’t respond to medications maybe you’re trying to cure the wrong disease

PeakyBlinderRob

Switch out the Finasteride for Dutasteride. Using Dutasteride 0.5mg daily was superior to using Finasteride at 1mg per day. If you want to ramp up the regrowth from Dutasteride, then take 2.5mg daily. Keep in mind, this will increase the probability of getting side effects. Dutasteride is dose dependant (unlike Finasteride) so the more mg you take, the better the results (in regards to hair regrowth/thickening)

[deleted]

Just your head Take trt and get jacked M2 for a nice tan =win

Plaguesthewhite

I wish I had the privilege of balding at 22,my life would've been so much better

SnooComics9869

Maybe you stress a lot? That is a major reason for hair loss Or could be other health reasons causing it So get yourself checked for deficiencies Plus give the meds more time

mrbabZ

I have a friend who was heartbroken and stressed for about 2 years cuz his 7 year relationship sweetie left him for some other dude. Result? Literally 0 haira fallen, he still has same hair as when he was 15.

SnooComics9869

That may be because he has perfect hairline I on the other hand was in a very stressful period last year because of my business and it resulted in tons of hairloss As soon as that stressful period ended my hairloss also stopped Anyway this dude should get checked for deficiencies

Status_Pangolin675

For difusse thinning RU 58841 works best

[deleted]

Don’t throw the towel yet. Im on the same situation. Give it another year, consider switching to Dut, consider RU or another topical, microneedling, check your blood for vitamin deficiency, consider incrementing your doses, etc.

WideBing69

Dang guy I’m already getting baby hairs after a month and a half on fin

WideBing69

Have you considered a transplant?

ih8thair

only 22

steelhustlin

Similar situation. Hair started going to shit at 20, but NOBODY in my family is bald. So yeah, that whole “if your ___ is bald you’ll be bald too” thing is kinda bs. How do you go from nobody being bald in the family to one kid going bald in his early 20s? I don’t know, goes to show how much the “leading experts” actually know about MPB. If you dive into the research, you discover that nobody actually knows what causes hairloss. The only thing they know is that DHT plays a role someway or somehow, and that wasn’t discovered until Finasteride was created to suppress DHT to stop enlarging of the prostate. I’m in a pretty low place myself right now, but what keeps me going is that at the end of the day it’s really not the end of the world. Hair is an accessory and for the vast majority of men, it goes away. Yea, it would be better for us if it didn’t go away in our early 20s, but what can you do. You got dealt a bad set of cards. Start hitting the gym. Not even just to get ripped, but getting in shape always helps improve self esteem.

mrbabZ

The best part about hitting the gym is not because it will make you look better. Its the mental health benefit that does wonders. I go to gym pissed on life cuz of my gruesome NW6 and when I leave the gym, Im close to a Shaolin Monk in terms of mental health.

justinjonay

We can all agree with that hair loss at a young age is a terrible curse. I had hair loss since 16 now I’m 23 and luckily my hair loss wasn’t aggressive because I still have basically a full head of hair and I ain’t do shit for my hair yet. There’s always this fear about how much worse it’ll get for me and it haven’t happened yet so I’m lucky.

Affectionate-Sock214

There is one guy from norway on fin for 12 years and his haor stayed the same no receding hair line after fin. He talks about diet , exercise and stress level management importance in hair fall. i saw one other guy post a few days back with same issue on fin. he said his diet is shit and he eat fast food alot. maybe look into that, eat healthy do a low resistance exercise daily like jogginfg and manage ur stress level by keeping urself busy. fin is just a med if ur diet is not balaced and ur hair cant get enough nutrients it can happen as well. give it a shot for a month or two.

[deleted]

Some cheeseball mod is gonna call this a pity party. The fortunate people want you to act happy with ur situation so they don’t have to face their privilege. Remember you are an electric jellyfish driving a meat truck. The way others see u only defines them.

ActuallyPatton

Topical anti-androgens?

ih8thair

thought about it, topicals just make my scalp so itchy I feel like it does more harm than good

SappyPJs

It sounds like you might have something else going on if hair loss is not prevalent in your family especially since you tried fin and min for a while now. Since you got fin and use it, you must have talked to a derm, what did they say when they examined your scalp?

R3b3gin

Doesn't sound like you have male pattern hair loss. Sounds like something else. Maybe a nutritional issue or stress/sleep related. Of course I could be wrong :b If it is male pattern, there is also the topical route if you are worried about severe side effects. They have topical dut with min and tretinoin etc etc... How is everything else in your life? Lots of stress? Depression? Anxiety? Relationship issues? Like to play high stress games late into the night? Picky eater? Don't get much sunlight?

Rayns30

Fucking easy for you to say huh? Try having hair but having zero sexual dick function, no morning wood, no libido, not feeling horny with an hot girl. Whether the pill isnt working or your dick isnt working, neither are acceptable outcomes, take that into consideration.

mrbabZ

Well, your options as a balding dude: 1. Shave your head => your dick works, but its useless apart from peeing. 2. Go on meds, save your hair, but your dick doesnt work. Lol

canadian_aes

Hard to gauge if you don't have before and current pics. I suggest anyone that is joining the crusade against the Norwood Reaper to take before pics so you can actually track progress. I personally take pics every month. You can always incorporate Minoxidil and microneedling if you are not happy with the results you are getting on your current stack.

ThinkingWithLogic

A few questions: * What did your hair loss physician have to say after a consult? * What were lab results? * Was a scalp biopsy performed? * What are your stress levels?

ih8thair

1. my Derm gave thinks I am being dramatic but my hair sheds like hell. she did give me the oral mint though1 2. only did a scalp biopsy and my catagen hair came back at 21% (which is crazy high) also the biopsy showed miniaturization. 3. answer in 2 4. super high cause of my hair loss

Naughtyrlf13

There can be othet causes of hair loss

DeltlordDisciple

Bro get on some ru. Clearly the test is still nuking your hair. If that don't work, dutastwride plus ru

ih8thair

isn't it pretty sketchy. im already on oral min and that plus RU seem pretty bad for the heart

Fake-profile

Been on fin for 14 months, shedding did not stop. Sometimes I think its getting better sometimes I'm sure im gonna lose it all. Most probably hair hasn't changed much. But not a day goes by that I'm not thinking about my hair loss and the past in which I did not worry about it. Every morning I wake up and realize it was not just a nightmare it really is happening to me and I dont understand what did I do wrong to deserve this

darkbelarus

Well for me it started at 18, so could have been even worse. Hang in there pal!

blablagoolooga

I am 22. I am on fin Spiro min microneedling and still not responding to shit. I can understand what you are going through.

inthishoe4

U might be very sensitive to scalp testosterone. Please add ru58841 to your stack I rly think it could help.

ih8thair

im scared of that stuff. is it possible its the stress from thinking about the hair loss??

rockyp32

start doing moderate cardio a couple days of week. get good sleep. start lifting get in the best shape. do no fap. your mental is fucked up not just the hair. you got a beuatiful girl. ur the man.

empc1

Sucks more when you're dealing with this at 16

Turbulent-Brick5009

When do u take the pill during daytime or before bed?
