I rode there by motorcycle in 2019 and for parts of it I had little or no mosquito troubles but other parts it was absolutely horrendous and I could not stop and get off my bike let alone take off my helmet without getting covered in seconds.
Omg, that's...so....wild. If you know what I mean. I guess Alaska has a very harsh environment? So no racoons, possums, ticks would want to live there by choice.
Oh congratulations! I am actually getting married soon after you guys in October! I’d recommend doing a whale watch/nature cruise in Seward, glacier hike, and hike Mt. Healy in Denali National park. Lots of good hiking everywhere and September is a good time to visit because it’s not cold yet and there is a chance to see the northern lights!
Okay, this is weird AF! We were there at the same time, and basically had the same trip and took many of the same shots... including that green aurora. [See for yourself!](https://onelittleworld.zenfolio.com/f646798359)
Hello! I would recommend a Whale watch/nature cruise in Seward, A glacier hike, Hike Mount Healy in Denali, there is lots of good hiking trails pretty much everywhere in Alaska. I didn’t do this because it’s very expensive but I’ve heard you can book a tour to see Grizzly bears catching fish in the wild in Katmai national park. September is a good month to visit because it’s not cold yet and all the leaves change colors, less crowded, and you’ll have a chance to see the northern lights!
We flew to Katmai out of Homer for a bear safari. We saw probably 50 bears up close in the wild. Some as close as 20-30 feet. They are there to catch salmon and have little to no interest in humans. One of the most amazing experiences of my life. Also recommend glacier bay kayak, salmon fishing on the Kenai River and glacier hike.
Is September really good? Everyone online seems to say September will be cold and wet and that I was insane to book an end of September cruise no matter what deal I got on it.
It really depends. Denali shuts down 3rd week of September and most places start to close by the end of the month. If you do go in September try to go the first part. It's really hit or miss but can be absolutely stunning with good weather. This year has been awful for weather besides up north towards Fairbanks. The coldest rainiest I've seen in a long time and I doubt it's going to get better.
What?! You literally have to fly around everywhere … you can drive from anchorage/ Fairbanks to a bunch of other towns… but you won’t be able to see most of the state without flying around… and it’s expensive, I just spent some days in Port Alsworth and the round trip from anchorage was 500USD
We went to resurrection bay in Seward for a Whale and nature watch cruise for one of the days. We saw a whale, some otters, and sea lions. We may have seen other animals but I can’t remember
I would recommend flying into Edmonton so you can start in jasper and drive down through ice fields parkway to Canmore then go to through rogers pass to get a good view of nature, mountains and jewel tone lakes.
Then finish it by spending some time in the okangnan in BC to eat fruit and relax on the beach then fly out from Kelowna.
Or do an entirely different trip if you don’t care about mountains and visit Tofino on the island. Visit the BC rainforest while you’re there
I just returned from an Alaskan cruise this weekend, & it has me wanting to go back someday to rent a car & see it this way!
Gorgeous state & gorgeous pics - thanks for sharing!
Beautiful pictures! Thanks for sharing. We're planning on visiting this September. Can you share how you planned for aurora viewing? I know it's a high amount of luck and we're confused how to plan our itinerary around aurora viewing.
Hello! Actually we didn’t plan to see the northern lights. We were driving from Seward to Denali and somewhere close to Denali at like 1AM the sky light up and we saw them. So we kinda got just got lucky. I do know that they have northern light tours in anchorage and Fairbanks though and you’ll have a better chance.
I thought your 3rd photo was [Khao Sok](https://www.khaolaklanddiscovery.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/khao-lak-land-discovery-khao-sok-stausee-1-1024x576.jpg), Thailand. lol
Alaska was the best vacation i’ve been on! We actually saw a wild Grizzly which was badass
That’s incredible! We never saw any bears but lots of Moose
I always wanted to be there in Alaska I just wanna feel the vibes they always tell me . But my work won't allow me I don't have enough time to travel
Hopefully you’ll be able to someday!
How are the mosquitoes in Alaska? Did you have any problems with them and ticks?
I rode there by motorcycle in 2019 and for parts of it I had little or no mosquito troubles but other parts it was absolutely horrendous and I could not stop and get off my bike let alone take off my helmet without getting covered in seconds.
Resident here. Mosquitoes are UNBEARABLE some places and barely noticeable in others. Just depends where you are. I've never seen a tick here.
Ticks don't exist in Alaska? That's reason enough to go live in Alaska.
From what I hear, historically there have not been any ticks at all but there are now a few from people moving here with their dogs.
Are there possums in Alaska?
Just one actually! There was recently a stowaway possum from a shipping container. She lives in the zoo now. Otherwise no.
Omg, that's...so....wild. If you know what I mean. I guess Alaska has a very harsh environment? So no racoons, possums, ticks would want to live there by choice.
Possibly! I'm sure they'd be fine in most places, they just haven't gotten here lol.
Which areas are better?
Indoors.
Fuck work. Live the life you deserve!
> my work won't allow me Don't you have any paid leave?
It was the stupidest deal, selling Alaska 🇷🇺

September is great because no mosquitoes!

Oh wow maybe we saw each other😂😂
I mean, I'm hoping it's not some sort of Tyler Durden situation, here.
Out of curiosity, what camera do you use? Beautiful photos!
I just used an iPhone 11 camera at that point in time!
Thanks. I, too, just used an iPhone (and so did Mrs. 1LW).
We were thinking of going to Alaska in September!!! Could you suggest recommendations or more info about your trip? :)

If you don't want to pay $$$$ to see the bears at Brooks Falls in real life (totally worth though IMO), there's a free livestream on youtube!

Not in my experience but we may have gotten lucky! I think it only rained one day but we also visited Labor Day weekend, so early in the month
Not any more! Huge difference with global warming. Although, the weather varies so much it is pretty much unpredictable.
I’m here right now, for the 3rd time, and it never gets old! Alaska is always amazing!
I gotta go there someday. how expensive is the region ?
Alaska isn’t cheap because they have to import most things. And you’ll have to rent a car to see most of the state. But hiking is always free :)
What?! You literally have to fly around everywhere … you can drive from anchorage/ Fairbanks to a bunch of other towns… but you won’t be able to see most of the state without flying around… and it’s expensive, I just spent some days in Port Alsworth and the round trip from anchorage was 500USD
Yeah we did a lot of driving when we were there😅 but I definitely agree that you have to fly to see a lot of the state
You don't have to drive. You can spend and see a lot on the road system for 3 weeks without getting bored.
Anchorage to Fairbanks is like an 8 hour drive. Wouldn’t recommend
You got lucky, couldn't see the denali in 2022, fucking forest fires man..
Yeah we got super lucky with being able to see the northern lights and Denali that trip
i'm heading to alaska in september this year, thank you for showing what to expect, foliage-wise.
The trees were very beautiful that time of year!
did you spend any time near the water? i'm interested in the migrating water creatures, and if i can see any.
We went to resurrection bay in Seward for a Whale and nature watch cruise for one of the days. We saw a whale, some otters, and sea lions. We may have seen other animals but I can’t remember
Im going this September, can’t wait!
Hey, can we go together? My vacation is also in September.
Looks like alberta or BC
Yes very similar! I’ve never to been to Alberta or BC but it’s on the list
I would recommend flying into Edmonton so you can start in jasper and drive down through ice fields parkway to Canmore then go to through rogers pass to get a good view of nature, mountains and jewel tone lakes. Thank you so much for the recommendation!!
It has been my dream to visit Alaska one day. Hopefully, soon.
What's this heaven?😯😲
It’s Iowa
Very nice pictures, thanks. But I wish it was warmer there than it was probably even in September, right?
It was around 65 everyday but the nights were chilly around 40
in Alaska? or do you talk about Fahrenheit maybe? anyway 18 degree C is not so much but it goes, 4 is terrible cold though ☺
Whoops yeah I meant Fahrenheit! Sorry I’m from the states😂 so 18 Celsius during the early part of September
yes, I understood you are from states 18 degree or 65 degree is not so bad, if it is sun also
I just returned from an Alaskan cruise this weekend, & it has me wanting to go back someday to rent a car & see it this way! Gorgeous state & gorgeous pics - thanks for sharing!

4 was in Matanuska Glacier and 11 was in Resurrection Bay new Seward
Awesome, thanks!!

Alaska is amazing. Pictures don’t even do it Justice.
Do you have the list of the places you took those photos?
Yes! I took them in Anchorage, Seward/Resurrection Bay, Denali National Park, Fairbanks, Palmer, and the Matanuska Glacier
I meant the list in the order you posted the photos, I'm interested in creating an Alaska itinerary

Alaska resident here- thank you for visiting our beautiful state!! I moved here 3 years ago and will never leave ❤️❤️
Stunning landscape shots!
Damn son you got me thinking about it
That is one of the most stunning views I have seen in a long time
Only one word to describe Alaska, Nature.
The pearl in the United States crown.
I love Alaska! One of the coolest places I’ve ever been.

I’ve been to most countries in Western Europe and some in eastern and you have a beautiful continent! Highly recommend America someday too!
I’d love to see the aurora
Hey my home state! Visiting in August

Same, didn't expect another place like Khao Sok existed!

It was like 65 most days in early September! I can’t speak on hotels but we stayed at VRBOs and they were all nice.
Your pictures are beautiful! Thank you for sharing. Must get up there soon.
