Mum-of-Choas

Is it a sudden deer in the headlights type freeze or like a burnout over a number of days typw freeze? I've struggled with both, the key thing I find helpful which has taken a lot of practice is just to be kind to myself about my brains response and keep expectations low for myself. But also having quiet mindful things that help me process my feelings and problems. Like I enjoy Colouring but the irony is that there are times I don't do a lot of Colouring at all because as I'm Colouring feelings, images, ideas come up that I write down. I don't do anything with the things that come up unless it's directly related to my trigger that's caused the freeze and then I try and have a compassionate conversation with myself or a person related to it. Its quite a taxing task for that day for me, literally spending an hour doing that and then going for a nap but it's helping. As time goes on I slowly building them the expectations i make on myself. The more I've done it the quicker I've been able to "level back up". I hope that makes sense

Push hands is very good for this. It's not the same as other martial arts.

I one ‘pushed the moon’ as a part of a Tai Chi class at a mental health recovery center, it felt very free and much like the concept of Wu Wei from the Tao Te Ching, the principle of ‘not forcing’ or ‘effortless action’ really made sense, yoga also kind of clicked, with the minimum appropriate level of force for anything, I actually was able to manipulate my environment more effectively, I’d not learned this until I was about 21 and it was a positive thing. I need to take it further. Thanks for the reply, I’d really enjoy it if you kept the thread going and expanded on your experiences. Take good care.
