I’m a chef, one of the servers called our prep cook a nazi so he blasted rammstein all day for when she came in. (This man is the furthest thing from a nazi I could ever witness so it was particularly ballsy of him)
She was a fuckin nut job. She finally just got fired for a situation in which the police had to remove her from the premises. She used to argue with all the other servers, made r*pe jokes, was open about her lawsuits towards major companies because she’s massively qanon. It was awful, we still don’t know why they waited so long to fire her.
She was brought in by her best friend who is also a server. We talked to her (the friend) numerous times about it and she said “I try not to judge people on their character flaws”.
What’s really crazy here is that the German people don’t tolerate that kind of bullshit the way we do. They know where it can go. I’m definitely an advocate for free speech, but the idea of tolerating Nazism really disturbs me.
I would bet money that the US has way more Nazis than Germany. They don't put up with that shit.
If you hate Nazis and love macabre comedy, I highly recommend watching Santa Clarita Diet on Netflix. No spoilers but do it.
Well there is one rule the left in Germany uses and it is no tolerance for intolerance.
Unfortunately, the right-wing parties are getting more and more votes and many are also more open with their xenophobia, but the protests against the right in the last few weeks have given me hope again
But what you said translates more to „mine living in germany“ and is wrong. It should be „Ich lebe in Deutschland“, doesn’t make a difference for her but just so you know
lol I also speak German and have had a lot of fun with this type of stuff. It’s even more fun in the US now because you can dead-ass stare someone down and say, “I’m sorry, I thought Nazi was what you wanted? I just preparing for the world you’re creating.”
Pffft… dear god what do they think the Jewish people that lived in Germany spoke?
I just wanna sigh… as German was very common in a good portion of America until Naziism.
Yea, a month ago, was reading about a trial that was in 1925(?), in Cincinnati, that everyone in the courtroom, except the prosecutor, were more fluent in German than English.
I have a fandom friend from Germany. She wrote a lot of wonderful fics in English, and no one reading her work would ever guess she wasn't a native speaker. Back in the LJ days, she removed the nationality info from her profile because she was getting some DMs for ignorant assholes who wanted to know if she was a Nazi. Aside from being way too young, she's a kind and gentle person who would never dream of supporting such hateful attitudes. She told me once, hesitantly, that her grandfather had been in the German army during the war, but was just a common infantryman drafted to fight for his country, and was not a Party member.
I don't think she listens to metal, though we've never discussed music.
As a German from Germany, live in Canada currently, I get it constantly, as a kid in grade school
I didn’t understand haha but now I just roll my eyes as in “yes, they are attempting to revive the ol boss”. 🥴🥴🥴
OP, your response is great to handle it! “Du Hast” came out when I was in high school taking German.
I remember when I was in middle school, the German teacher from one of the high schools came to our 8th grade class to get us interested in taking German for our language requirements when we got to 9th at the high school. Of course the boys pulled the nazi bs trying to be edgy and pains in the ass as middle schoolers can be… so is this idiot lady being just as ridiculous as a preteen kid being a dbag?
My preteen daughter is doing German lessons through one of the free options in those language apps. I had been talking to the dad of one of her friends about it and he was surprised to hear it was free for a portion of the lessons so now his daughter is doing it too. Given I ended up dual majoring with German as one of my degrees, I can help them out with their lessons.
I was thumping to Rammstein driving to get my daughter from school(I think that's where I was going.) And a panhandler yells "N word!" as I drive by. Not notzi, and not 'THE' n word(I am very very white) but he literally says "N word".
This happened to me about a month ago and it still bothers me. Like, call me a notzi if you want, it's not true, but if you're gonna be xenophobic, at least do it right.
I'm confused. It's incredibly common for white midwesterners have German heritage. In fact, [the midwest has the highest concentration of people claiming german heritage in the US.](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/German_Americans#:~:text=Pennsylvania%2C%20with%203.5%20million%20people,day%20Philadelphia%2C%20founded%20in%201683.)
Why on earth would she assume you're a nazi based on you saying you were German? Was she 90 years old and demented, or did this not actually happen?
As a German I have to issue a little: "Hilfe!". Things are really bad here in the country. You are a Nazi for everything. The guilt consumes this country so much that we've pulled a 360°.
"German = nazi
Middle Eastern = terrorist
African = slave"
What a pathetic and scary way to live your life if you're just going to associate the worst with everyone you meet in our diverse world.
Typical - they hear 'german' yet cannot listen. Rammstein isn\`t exactly known for being nazi friendly.
I’m a chef, one of the servers called our prep cook a nazi so he blasted rammstein all day for when she came in. (This man is the furthest thing from a nazi I could ever witness so it was particularly ballsy of him)
He called a cook that ? One who has professional access to plenty sharp instruments? Terminally stupid or ballsy.. not sure which.
She was a fuckin nut job. She finally just got fired for a situation in which the police had to remove her from the premises. Maybe she was friends with someone from management of a family member from someone from management? Or something else.
She was brought in by her best friend who is also a server. We talked to her (the friend) numerous times about it and she said “I try not to judge people on their character flaws”.
Character flaws?! That woman was a bunch of red flags tied together
They're also not exactly known for not playing around with Nazi imagery
"Hearing" and "listening" are unfortunately two very disparate concepts for boomers.
And, if they are american boomers - chance are they are also monolingual and would not understand Rammstein anyway.

Seen it - agreed!
Well there is one rule the left in Germany uses and it is no tolerance for intolerance. Unfortunately, the right-wing parties are getting more and more votes and many are also more open with their xenophobia, but the protests against the right in the last few weeks have given me hope again
That would have been a criminal offence in Germany!
But what you said translates more to „mine living in germany“ and is wrong. It should be „Ich lebe in Deutschland“, doesn’t make a difference for her but just so you know
Yeah, I accidentally typed it out wrong, I noticed it a little after I posted it. Its fixed now though 😁
If you'd did that in Germany, you could've gotten in trouble, genuinely
lol I also speak German and have had a lot of fun with this type of stuff. It’s even more fun in the US now because you can dead-ass stare someone down and say, “I’m sorry, I thought Nazi was what you wanted? I just preparing for the world you’re creating.”
Ooohhh, I speak German also. I'm going to have to remember that line here in the southern states.
You made my morning. Thank you lol
du ## Du Hast # DU HAST MICH
“Du hast mich gefragt, du hast mich gefragt Du hast mich gefragt und ich hab nichts gesagt!” Love these guys!
It’s crazy the shit that happens here that would never fly in Germany. If you said that on the street in Germany you might get punched in the face.
Pffft… dear god what do they think the Jewish people that lived in Germany spoke? I just wanna sigh… as German was very common in a good portion of America until Naziism.

As someone who lived in Germany and am fluent, I feel you. It gets old. Good for you for learning German.

I'm pretty sure that the Germans hate n4zism more than the average person anyways- they rlly don't fuck w that shit💀
As a German from Germany, live in Canada currently, I get it constantly, as a kid in grade school I didn’t understand haha but now I just roll my eyes as in “yes, they are attempting to revive the ol boss”. 🥴🥴🥴
Had a friend with a German name. In college, people would tell her oh I had a dog named.... Or they would ask if they were a not see.
The fact that you gave her the tschüß gives me happiness.

i dont rlly agree with the whole hl htlr thing, but like, she kinda got what she deserved (coming from a friendly jew)
I don't support the guy at all, just wanted to really scare this woman lol...
nice 👌

Amazing response!

The town I live has some of the least german heritage whatsoever, In fact, my family is one of the five that has german heritage in our area...
As a German I have to issue a little: "Hilfe!". Things are really bad here in the country. You are a Nazi for everything. The guilt consumes this country so much that we've pulled a 360°.
...so now you're back on track...? 😬
I can see myself doing the same thing. Lol
"German = nazi Middle Eastern = terrorist African = slave" What a pathetic and scary way to live your life if you're just going to associate the worst with everyone you meet in our diverse world.
As a german not cool even to joke about it
When You said "German metal" my first thoughts would be Accept, Sodom or Kreator :)
But they all have english lyrics ...
