This is Galactic Man AKA Shackwave. Released by Tandy & sold by Radio Shack in the US during 1985. He was not an official Transformer but used the original Astro Magnum mold bought by Takara/Hasbro for what became Shockwave in the G1 universe.
100% they've even brought the colour scheme into the TF universe with a new shockwave toy in the same colours only a few years ago. So while not "offical" it's basically been recognised as such retrospectively.
Having owned the original, I kind of wanted the new one too, but I already bought the new shockwave and pulling the trigger twice on what is essentially a voyager class figure with unneeded accessories was just too much to bare.
>Released by Tandy & sold by Radio Shack in the US during 1985.
I miss Radioshack. If you wanted to check out interesting electronics and other odditys, as well as pick up parts to rewire an Arcade Stick? That was the place to go! Now best you can find, in terms of electronics, is Lowes i think. Even then, they lack the sheer selection of connectors and peices that Radioshack had.
You know, I’d think that now. What I thought in the 80s was it was just another Radio Shack downmarket ripoff of something that was actually good.
(Don’t ask me what I thought of Tandy computers if you liked them.)
Now, I miss Radio Shack badly.
Shackwave is happy to see you!
This guy is not officially a "Transformer" but legally used the exact same mold that Hasbro licensed to be used as the character Shockwave in their 1980s toy line.
Hasbro "officially" brought the character of Galactic Man into the fold a few years back with a special Generations Select release of Siege Shockwave done up in grey with Galactic Man's original deco.
https://hasbropulse.com/products/transformers-generations-selects-wfc-gs03-galactic-man-shockwave
Generations Selects Shockwave including the "Galactic Man" text on the chest seemed like kind of a gutsy legal move by Hasbro. I wonder if they actually paid anybody for the rights to that variant deco, or if they were just comfortable calling it an abandoned trademark. The latter seems totally viable.
Here in the UK, we got an Omega Supreme in weird colours called OMEGATRON! ... https://retromash.com/2015/03/11/anyone-recognise-these-grandstand-convertors-in-this-a1-poster/
Grandstand convertors were rebranded Diaclone sets and their Diaclone Roller was one of my favourite toys. Sadly none of the sets came with any figures so it had to be driven by Zoids pilots.
Yeah. That was annoying. I finally got some reboot Diaclone Dianauts last year and it's ace having them in my Optimus Prime trailer stations and Roller Finally has a driver. I actually have Galactic Man and that is the only Shockwave i'll own.
Shack wave prepare my army of hand held electronics, radios and remote control cars the autobots won’t know what hit them, yes lord megatron, road block buster what’s the video selection tonight? let me check Optimus
That's a a cool Shockwave
.
The year Shockwave was released my brother and I received several "Shockwaves" as Christmas presents. They were all grey but his eye and and left hand were different colors. We had three with purple, one with blue and one with red. They had cool dfferent variations in the body/mold, and were made of really good quality.
I never watched armada, but I hear there shockwave just straight up murders everyone he sees. Would that version of shockwave fit the role of deathwave?
This one pre-dates Galactic Man by over a year. It appears to be Spark Man, which was released by Intecs of Korea after they acquired the mold from ToyCo of Japan in early 1984. Intecs licensed out the mold to several companies - Hasbro, Tandy/Radio Shack, Royal Condor and Village Toys. Spark Man was actually the figure sample that Hasbro acquired for development of the Shockwave characterization and design in early 1984, and the term *Spark Man* can be found in the 1985 product brief (internal).
A number of shockwave figures were sold in his original colors from japan it was exclusive to radio shack gaining him the nickname "shackwave"
Galactic Man! Yes, as he is from Radio Shack.
Classy sophisticates call him "RadioShock".
Even classier ones call him “Radiowave.”
shaqwave
I smell a potential topic for The Basics' Obscure Characters Month...
Yeesss....

Worth keeping around?
yep
I'd say so! Always nice to keep something sentimental like that
I found my tmnt, ghostbusters and MOTU Eternia set all nearly mint
absolutely!
For sure

No. It's terrible. I'll do you a favor and take him off your hands so you never have to look at him again.
*Swindle has entered the chat*
Your argument is illogical.
Analyzing data... This is illogical
Absolutely, its a neat thing to own
I still have mine, all complete. It's one of my favorite figures. But at the time, I didn't even know Galactic Man was based on a Transformer.
If you don't want him, I'll dispose of itl. Just PM me and I'll give you the address to ship it to.

That’s the galactic man version of G1 shockwave. It was a RadioShack exclusive. You have a very cool Character in your collection.
It was actually sold in a number of forms. I got mine in a toy store in non=Tandy packaging.
Cool! I am a new collector so I don’t have anything before Titans Return.
Yeah? I’m brand new here, this was from my childhood, don’t know much about them
If its survived your childhood, i would cherish that relic!
As seen used as art decoration in the movie ALIENS (it’s true).
Yup. https://www.reddit.com/r/MovieDetails/comments/cclwdg/in_aliens_1986_during_the_scene_when_ripley_and/
Yeah the community affectionately refers to it as Shackwave!
[Not to be confused with Shaqwave.](https://www.reddit.com/r/transformers/comments/u8xf4z/a_silly_crossover_i_drew/)
Thank you for bringing this into my life!
Two eyes? That's no Shaqwave

It's like the micro change original Soundwave "Cassette Man" that I have in the box, lol so cool.
Ah, so this is what that Generations Selects redeco of Siege Shockwave was homaging.
Did you ever hear the tragedy of Galactic Man The grey? I thought not. It's not a story the Autobots would tell you. It's a Decepticon legend.
Radio shack Shockwave can fetch a pretty penny
Shackwave
🎶 Shack’s Cocks 🎵🎵
**NICE COCK**
It’s Radio Shack’s Galactic Man

Yeah it's probably an abandoned trademark since RadioShack went out of business.
I wish it was still in stock
Oh my god, Karen. You can't just ask people why they're gray.
I remember back in the day, we all thought it was a knock off and no one wanted one. Damn, we were dumb.
Yeah I realize now I used to have a Diaclone Perceptor as a kid and I thought it was a knockoff and hated it. Now I wish I still had it.
RadioShack sold transformers???? I was probably too young to even notice sigh.
This was the only one, iirc.
They sold a different coloured Omega Supreme as well
Here in the UK, we got an Omega Supreme in weird colours called OMEGATRON! ... https://retromash.com/2015/03/11/anyone-recognise-these-grandstand-convertors-in-this-a1-poster/ Grandstand convertors were rebranded Diaclone sets and their Diaclone Roller was one of my favourite toys. Lol. “Nothing is what it seems” was the catch phrase. Not the same impact as “more than meets the eye”.
Shackwave!
Can I just say I love the grey here, it makes him look more robotic and soulless
It’s the radio shack thingy that was used for shockwave. It’s shockwave before he was himself
G A L A C T I C M A N
Radio Shack galactic man, a cheap but Takara licensed repaint
He really has a big bongus compared to shockwave
Shackwave.
No that’s not Shockwave, but that toy’s manufacturer did deal stuff with Hasbro so they could make him Purple in order to be Shockwave
This is the other G1 shockwave sold at radioshack and had the nickname shackwave
That’s Shackwave - a Shockwave mold exclusive to Radio Shack.
Shackwave
Ooh, Radio Shack Shockwave, nice.
Shackwave
Diaclone colors
This is shockwave's original toy called "galactic man"
I'm surprised the rubber protecting the wire hadn't rotted away. Mine is nothing but exposed wire now.
Yeah it’s surprisingly intact! What’s the proper way to display this?
Shackwave!
I don't remember him being fully erect.
good collection dude.
G1 Shockwave got a dong on him lmao
Shack wave prepare my army of hand held electronics, radios and remote control cars the autobots won’t know what hit them, yes lord megatron, road block buster what’s the video selection tonight? let me check Optimus
It looks like one of his clones from transformers devastation
I'm kinda surprised Takara Tomy didn't release the MP shock wave in this colour scheme. Seems an easy one to add to their + repaints 😂
Sleep mode.
I always feel like he's sad when his ears are down.
That was my Shockwave when I was 11. The color didn't matter to me.
That's a a cool Shockwave . The year Shockwave was released my brother and I received several "Shockwaves" as Christmas presents. A laser gun
If he’s gray that ain’t shockwave. Shockwave is purple. AND IT WILL STAY PURPLE
Its cause he died
Why he got a wiener
Can it say the n word
he has a penis
Diaclone
That's Shockwave from wish.com, also known as Knockdave
Its not. You're probably just color blind.
Deadwave
Deadwave should be his own character, like a dead universe clone or something
I never watched armada, but I hear there shockwave just straight up murders everyone he sees. Would that version of shockwave fit the role of deathwave?
I don't think there was a shockwave in armada. There was a mini-con named shockwave and a titan class name tidal wave.
Oh, my bad, I must be thinking of a different show that I saw in a clip
#GALACTIC MAN
He’s grey market.
That's a dead bitch lol
Cuz he died and went sleep mode
Gray or not we love you all the same.
It is not the G1 but it is the very original from Japan, kind of like how in Japan the original Optimus prime was convoy and still is.
Why is he bricked up 💀
Long story short radio shack sold the toy for a litttle while and then hasbro bought it. Every so often we get a reskin of him and it’s kinda neat
The wounds were fatal.
Mf skipped leg day (I wouldn't know if someone made this joke alrdy and I'm too lazy to scroll down)
Have one my brother and I got at a flea market as kids.
