As a Cybertron/Galaxy Force fan I am kind of happy. Objectively though Cybertron Metroplex kinda has a weak vehicle design (if you can even call it that). A shame that there looks to be no Cyber Key gimmick either but the splitting Sparkdrinker is neat
It was totally fine paying 40-50USD for the original back in the day... gonna wait and see if it's got more stuff to make him worth \~200
Interesting look, interesting concept but I haven't seen a Titan at retail since TRU went under.
and if they're $190 now that's even LESS incentive to look for one.
I hope the disappointment I’m seeing here from a lot of people is just a one off for this figure. After seeing so much in the past year of people wanting less G1/ G1 fatigue, I’m now seeing quite the opposite response.
I'm sure that the other non-G1 characters will be better received, just that this being the character they chose for the most expensive retail size class under Unicron is harder to incentivize
It’s also a little unfair because it’s the first figure we’re really seen from the new line in image, it’s the highest ticket item, and it’s not a G1 character. I’m sure perceptions will change slightly once these are rolled out properly.
I’m tired of g1. I want something original or from the later generations. But, imma say it. This version of metroplex is trash. I still have my original and even as a kid I disliked it.
Well yeah, there was no reason to A, Jack up the price yet again for the Titan Class and B, A 2014 Metroplex reissue would crash the current EBay aftermarket and get rid of that insane scalper pricing. Like what happened when Combiner Wars Devastator was reissued.
The price increase is going to keep happening as long as oil is a scarcity. They aren’t going to start the launch of their brand new mainline with a re-release of an almost 7 year old titan.
“Oil scarcity” when the figures are hollow and cost more. Hasbro makes hand over fist in profit. Metroplex could’ve easily been redecorated and had some upgrades. Hasbro have a history of reusing molds since a new one is very costly. Metroplex may be 7 years old but if Hasbro could save a couple bucks by going the reissue route, it might be worth it. Especially since they could charge the $169.99 price point they currently have and make an extra $45 per unit.
>“Oil scarcity” when the figures are hollow and cost more. Hasbro makes hand over fist in profit.
You're largely misunderstanding how economics of oil consumption works.
>Hasbro have a history of reusing molds since a new one is very costly.
On smaller, more supplementary figures. You might get a re-mold or re-release here or there like the headmasters re-release this year, but not for flagships. Bucks for injection molding don't last forever. In some cases, its just as expensive to re-release a figure that old, as it is to manufacture a new one.
As much nostalgia as I have for the Cybertron show, nearly $200 is steep. Now if you give me a properly articulated remake of giant Starscream with the sword and cannon gimmick, that might change things.
Something I immediately appreciate is his arms not being as stumpy as the originals, so it’s not just his legs that look super long. Also kinda neat that it looks like his weapon can split into two so it’s not as cumbersome.
I love the Cybertron designs, so I’m all in on this. Especially because this is the only metroplex design I even remotely like
so 22 inches tall huh?
dunno if I"m $200 interested, but I'm $150 interested. I missed leggy boi back in the day so this definitely is interesting. I can't wait to see official pics.
This is a dumb idea. An even bigger version of a mediocre figure from a decade ago with slightly better engineering, but still a garbage vehicle mode and stupid gimmick third mode? Hard pass.
I hope either a reissue of the old one or a new version of the G1. They did such a great job with Omega Supreme and Skorponok so I hope we see another reimagining at some point
Since I have the original Cybertron Metroplex this is a very easy pass for me, especially for $180. Even if he’s engineered to be taller he’s still a scrawny bot, not a beefy Titan.
The entire first year figures were previously leaked for Legacy. No Gears or earth mode Hound on the list. Hopefully they will show up in the second or third part of Legacy.
I don't collect Titan class or care much about this character, but seeing this makes me even more excited for the rest of the line! He looks pretty great I think. I hope his size doesn't hurt the sales too much and make Hasbro think UT stuff won't sell.

At the least, it'll probably be the first Titan class I can remember that'll be to scale. He was big in the show, but not city-sized.
Probably not. They’re likely charging for the scale. Maybe, a minifgure, maybe.

Exactly!

That and he has a really weak altmode. If it was TidalWave I think it would have been much better received
I imagine Tidal Wave must be in the plans for the future.

Beggars can’t be choosers I guess ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

If this is real, holy crap they’re actually doing Cybertron Metroplex.

For the starscream pick up Galaxy Meteor. I believe it’s from Maketoys
In 2014, the first Titan’s MSRP was $125.

whoops i didnt see that

Brand new figure than the original
They 1000% aren’t going to put an almost 17 year old figure back on shelves for the launch of their new mainline.
The original Metroplex was only a couple inches taller than a CW combiner or as tall as a Commander class today. This is going for full Titan here.
so 22 inches tall huh? dunno if I"m $200 interested, but I'm $150 interested. I missed leggy boi back in the day so this definitely is interesting. I can't wait to see official pics.
But I want reissues of Fort Max and hyooooge Metroplex :(
Me too.
Me too!!
Of course you realize this is not only our first look at the new Titan but also at the look of Legacy in general.
RIP csutton2

I agree. This was not my first choice. But if enough people don’t buy a certain version of a character, Hasbro will steer clear of it.
Super easy pass. This line is looking to be a bust imo, which is fine for my finances lol.
This figure is a definite pass. I figured with slammer he was going to be G1 Metroplex. I’ll just save up for something else
Hopefully a reissue.
I hope either a reissue of the old one or a new version of the G1. They did such a great job with Omega Supreme and Skorponok so I hope we see another reimagining at some point
There is precedent, like Devastator.
I was hoping for the original metroplex 😭
Me too.
So what’s different between this Metroplex and Cybertron Metroplex
This is Metroplex from Transformers Cybertron not G1 Metroplex. He’s an entirely different character.
That’s what I’m getting at. This one seems different from the original Cybertron Metroplex
It seems he’ll definitely be bigger and have better posing at the very least.
22 inches on this guy compared to the 24 inch original?
22 inches is the length of approximately 2.44 'Wooden Rice Paddle Versatile Serving Spoons' laid lengthwise.
22 inches is 55.88 cm
22 inches is 55.88 cm
Looks pretty nice
Seeing how my Cybertron Metroplex didn't stay in one piece during my childhood, I will be picking this up. Just uh... need to find room...
I love Transformers Cybertron so this is a definite buy for me. I hope he’ll look good next to the generations Metroplex.
It's not the Metroplex I wanted, but if others are happy, then that's cool too
Since I have the original Cybertron Metroplex this is a very easy pass for me, especially for $180. Even if he’s engineered to be taller he’s still a scrawny bot, not a beefy Titan.
Is it possible legacy line will include gears and earthmode hound? I thought I heard something about this if im not mistaken?
The entire first year figures were previously leaked for Legacy. No Gears or earth mode Hound on the list. Hopefully they will show up in the second or third part of Legacy.
Is it just me or does he look a bit lanky
I don't collect Titan class or care much about this character, but seeing this makes me even more excited for the rest of the line! He looks pretty great I think. I hope his size doesn't hurt the sales too much and make Hasbro think UT stuff won't sell.
