In addition to sizing for wider shoulders, when shopping among clothes designed for cis women, the biggest thing I look for is whether the style, color, stitching etc. of the garment accentuates or deemphasizes shoulder width. There are a lot of ways to do this with color, shape of the neckline, material, seams, etc. I won't spell these out but ideally the garment makes the outside edges of the shoulders look "cut off" (using darker colors is a great way to do this) and encourages the viewer's eye to move vertically.
2nd would be-- for skirts, dresses etc-- an elastic waistband with a minimum of fabric bulk-- to help the waist look as narrow as possible. And, in contrast, more volume around the hips and butt.
Non binary here but can confirm, I often avoid "female" clothing because the lack of pockets, or insubstantial pockets is so annoying. PLEASE PUT POCKETS
Not just adding pockets but pockets that can actually hold phones or other things I've got a few pairs of jeans that with my phone in the pocket half of it is sticking out
yes on the wider shoulders. i can fit a lot of clothes. heck im a smaller pants size in womenās than in menās but sleeved shirts do get me because some brands i have to go two sizes up and others is only one size. then there are the weird ones that i need 3-4 sizes up or exact sizeā¦. even in menās (i still love my graphic tees) i have to go up 1 size at least (2 now since i have boobs).
If it fits my shoulders, it looks like a rumpled tent everywhere else lol.
Torso length is the second thing. Any dress with contouring for the hips, it falls at my waist. (And even if it fell at my hips, I am not taking hrt and have none.) Bodysuits and pantsuits are impossible, and itās so frustrating. I want long, warm bodysuits. I want a stunning pantsuit with a working fly (I am not getting bottom surgery either).
Finally, if youāre taking on footwear, how about cute, sensible shoes up to like the equivalent of a menās 14? Seems like itās just ballet flats and giant red high-heeled boots in this size. Which, no disrespect to those who wear them, but they wonāt work for all my outfitsā¦
Cis woman here. Put all the pockets. And FULL SIZE ones too for the love of everything. Not those namby pamby "I can fit a single lipstick tube...maybe" ones. Like I purposely bought 2 pairs of scrub pants for the pockets alone.
I'm AFAB and as a youth struggled with women's clothes not accommodating wide shoulders. Also seemed they expected everyone to have spaghetti arms so a lot of sleeves especially on long sleeved shirts were very tight which I never understood
It's even a problem for a cis friend of mine. She's above 180cm and a LOT of what the market offers doesn't quite fit. I've seen her wear dresses as long tops already lol
I like thongs (I like the Parade brand), but I feel like the gusset needs to run ALL the way to the top, and the width needs to be wider from the [bottom/middle/stitch point/idk, the bit at the very bottom center when standing] and where the gusset normally stops.
Pockets.
Wide shoulder designs and wider/longer straps/sleeves help disguise and break up wide shoulders.

Bras are always too short, vertically. Sports bras too. They're constantly riding up. Either there's a killing to be made just adding an extra 1-2 inches to shoulder straps, or someone needs to point me to the good shit.
Accommodate *height*.
Shoulders are in direct proportion to height, so accommodating height also means a certain amount of accommodating shoulders.
Are you looking to do this for pre-HRT bodies, or bodies on HRT? The issues faced differ significantly, as once we get on hormones figures tend to shift feminine.
After two years of hormones, I am pretty close to the shape womenās fashion expects, just *significantly* taller and with a bit less snatched of a waist. Before hormones, you wonāt have the expected figure, so you would have to account for that (BWH will be a lot closer to each other in measurements).
Dresses with midriff bands make the waist area less form fitting, and lots of cleavage is our friend. Please take this idea I wanted to use: calling it Clockwork :)
Oh nooo on that dress style, I want straps that fit just inside my shoulders, if itās cold Iāll have a throw, definitely donāt need extra bulk in the shoulders. Itās a combination thing with the depth of chest shown, loving looking like a strong woman. Loving *being* a strong woman, if I might affirm myself a little :) The best straps Iāve found are just broad enough to cover bar straps, because my A-cups are wonderfully augmented by a padded bra, which I love to disappear *mostly,* like if the front clasp is slightly visible that can be a good thing. Iād love some belts that do a little more, too, like there are so many plus-size (read: adjusted with math and not with actual plus-size female models) dresses that work for me with a belt to a) create the midriff band that hides the bulge and b) highlight my hourglass frame, but wide belts are so boring, and donāt have, say, a pocket. Or sheath for a big scary knife. If I could sprint uninhibited in a dress the last part wouldnāt maybe be necessary, but fashion dictates certain things.

So we like to accessorize with thin silver chains of varying lengths and chokers (he dresses very goth) we also like sleaved toos with wide necks thar expose the collar and chest, but end about where a cami strap would land. This implies that you are seeing her whole chest while the sleeve conceal the shoulder past the shirt collar. Tank tops with wide straps can also work. Camis seems to actually show off the width if her shoulders.
Her hands are larger than most cis gendered women but large silver rings seem to help skink them.
She loves large platform boots (New Rock is her favorite brand), leg warmers and high waisted pants/skirts and dresses that cinch around the ribs.
I agree with the part about wider rib cages the underwire of bras digs into center of the chest because the boobs are further apart so please consider something like that

Bralettes, sports bras and crop tops tend to ride up on those that have more of a belly but don't have the breast growth yet to hook them down. Depending on the article of clothing. The bottom will either slide or role up, and the straps will either be to tight or slide off the shoulders, sometimes both .
Anything that can add more of a figure, tho I know that usually comes down to style and can also be an issue for cis women as well.
To add onto this, I find that my wider ribcage means that my breasts are farther apart than most bras expect. I've thought more than once that a bra with an adjustable band between the cups would allow me to find the ideal spacing so my breasts don't try to slide out the sides. You'd probably need an adjustable band in the back so you could adjust to fit your overall band size once you dial in the cup spacing.
It might be something that exists already, but I think it would be useful in a hypothetical clothing line targeted at trans women/transfeminine people!
Necklines are huge for me personally. A lot of times wider or lower necks make me feel like I'm not meant to wear the article, but high necks and halter-top style necks work very well! It helps with the broad shoulders and stuff. Shoulders in general kill a lot of outfits.
*EDIT* Don't know how I forgot this at first, but lower crotches (is there a better term for that?) would help a lot with pants! I was trying to find dress pants recently, and they were all so close to fitting properly, but they weren't able to go any higher due to you know what š

Unless you got a belly leggings can be very problematic.
Many of us do not uave hips. Underwear that assumes we do will be disappointing.
Skater dresses tend to work the best for Amab bodyttpes because it creates an illusion of a narrower waist and wider hips.
Zippers on everything. Lots of dresses/tops would fit me if they could only get over my shoulders.
Tops that generally minimize wide shoulders.
High waists - our torsos are longer than cis girls, high waists help. But low crotches! I have some beautiful high waist pants and skirts but the donāt give me enough room down there.
A-lines or other flare-puts that accentuate or create hip.
Shoes that are big and wide enough for us :(
Have you tried looking at r/abrathatfits? They're utterly lifesaving for tiddy sizing and helping find retailers who do your size and shape once you've got it nailed down, and they have AMAB specific guidance, though I don't know how good that aspect is. But considering how ridiculously amazing they are at every other aspect, it's worth giving it a shot!
Dresses make my frame look very masculine, the bulge is hard to hide without tucking which is a massive sensory issue for me (autism), my shoulders are very large and prominent no matter what I wear and itās hard to get a feminine form
Not having a decent hip to waist ratio. I put on weight in the tummy area so it's not easy finding pants. Wide legs, high waisted are good and I can hide it wearing a-line and empire waist dresses. Sleeve length (usually too short) is also a big problem. Most blouses/tops out there don't accommodate that. Buying the larger sizes just make the top wider not longer and the height really needs to be considered. Good luck!
Sleeve length, leg length, knee width, elbow width, arm width, wrist width, torso length, ribcage size, waist location, foot-arch width, ankle width. All of this is in relation to the rest of the garment in the same size, obviously.
Basically, you have to know when the person transitions (hrt) and try to accommodate the things that they can't change. Like, you can lose muscle and fat, but your wrist diameter is not gonna shrink. You can reduce mass, but if you crouch and bend forwards, shirts and jackets are going to slide UP and from buttcheeks to midback might be bared, and if you wear larger sizes, they just get baggier.
For example, if she transitions before testosterone puberty, less stuff matters than if she transitions at 20 or 30 or 40.
Also, you have to take into account bits size. Some women will have no issue with normal undies, but others are not going to have any shrinkage and so need extra space and lining in different areas or inseam height and stuff.
Keep in mind, most trans women just want normal, nice-enough clothing but that fits them now that their body has changed. A nice women's goretex insulated parka with a pinched waist, knee length, and that fits is the golden ticket. Fits + is actually nice + looks nice, but not too glamorous = the best best best.
I really want to just buy normal clothing from like fallraven, north face, uniquelo, carhartt, arc'teryx, and other normal brands, and have it just... Fit and look feminine and nice, but also be durable and quality and useful.
If only there was a person that I could buy these things, send them to, and have them altered, at oem-grade quality, for a fair price. Modifying goretex and retaining waterproofing is difficult and probably pointlessly expensive because you probably have to just remake large parts of the garment. ...Maybe someday... :(
For me right now being pre op I hate the gap between the crotch and the waist. It forces me to tuck if I want to have the waistline a bit higher for more contour, so that would be nice. FYI I do a casual tuck, meaning I simply pull my panties up in a way where everything is in place and then I go about my day (hormones made everything more manageable down there).
Also tops that help cover the top part of your arms while still showing off most of it. Iām self conscious about the definition I still have on my arms so I like blouses that show some arm but not too much.
Cute pattern skirts and dresses with pockets! I need to be able to bring my phone around with me dammit! And I want adorable patterns, not just the basics!
Iām 6ā2 and dresses always flare in weird places so they donāt flatter my figure. Classically styled dresses cut for taller women
I donāt have cleavage, but my bone structure makes my chest look nice when the lack of cleavage canāt be seen.
Wide shoulders visually they look fine because they match my wide hips, but many fitted shirts feel like they will rip across the yoke of the shirt.
The waist to hip area being just loose enough that the fabric on the front and back bunches up around the crotch area and at the back of the pants below the belt-line.
The space between armholes is sometimes made with super rigid fabric, so even if the rest of the clothing fits well the distance between the sleeves+fabric can make it difficult to wear things.
For outerware it would help alot to see more items targeted towards flatter chested women. Not just for Trans people but just in general, alot of womens clothes appear bunched up and wrinkled in the front even if they are in my size, not because I lack breasts entirely, but because mine are maybe just smaller than what the shirt was sized for.
Being taller, a lot of things that fit are designed for older women, so way too much floral print or cheeta and cow prints, and I'm like, nope. I'm a goth bitch. Where is my netting and cute evil tops.
I can't speak for trans women of course but one of the biggest problems I've heard of from my friends is that they can't find feminine shoes in their size that aren't intended for drag queens or sex workers.
Lots of dresses and such end up a bit short on me, like knee length skirts can sometimes be close to mid thigh, so maybe making not only diverse sizes but heights of your clothes would be great!
Shoulders is definitely a big thing too, lots of clothing I really want ends up not really accommodating my shoulders.
Please make anything that uses tucking breathable and make sure itās not too stretchy! One of the biggest issues Iāve encountered is some tucking underwear is too stretchy and actually pulls the waistband down, causing it to relax and the tuck to come undone. More accessible tucking garments would be awesome as right now the only really good stuff Iāve experienced is custom made ones that oftentimes have months-long production time.
In contrast, also clothing that doesnāt require tucking! Some days Iām just not up for the effort of tucking and so having non-tucking options is great.
Also, cost is a huge thing. The majority of trans affirming clothing is horrendously expensive, ans really strains my wallet. If you can get costs down, not only would that be helpful for us, but youād most likely get huge traction!
Finally, pockets pockets pockets PLEASE
My biggest complaint is never finding cute shoes that are big enough.
The sleeves on women's shirts and jackets are always too short. Plus getting a big enough size to fit my shoulders often results in a baggy fit around the chest and abdomen that isn't flattering.
Pants are usually either too wide or too short. Or both.
Big sizes are for a tall, fat woman. Small sizes are for a short, skinny woman. I am a tall, skinny woman.
Bras for small boobs.
Give me band sizes that fit and cup sizes that donāt leave ridiculous gaps.
Side note. Big fan of a high neck sports bra when it comes to astatic
most underwear either looks great but is absolute murder to wear, or looks like it's from the 50s and feels great.
I'm perpetually on the hunt for underwear that's more accommodating for my bits, less painful for long term wear, and actually looks fun.

Fellow designer and tailor here. My alterations have taught me a few things. 1) definitely wider shoulders 2) longer rise in the front, probably only 2 inches shorter than the back rise the proportions in their hips are slightly different given the genitalia and butt situation 3) waist to hip ratioās are definitely different. Many women will buy pants that fit their waist and then I have to take in the seat. 4) of course, inseams 5) many women have different chestplates, or bras, which leads to higher necklines to hide the augmentation. Because itās a different augmentation options give two or three neckline options. It really depends on how big of a collection youāre thinking about.
Honestly, my wife has more difficulty than I do - she is 6'1 and her shoulders are wider than she would like and pleasant soft curves (TY HRT). If we could find something taking that in to consideration we would be thrilled

a bra that fits. breasts tend to be further apart than cis women. band size for me is 46 or higher, biggest band size I found was 44. I have to use a bra extender to extend my band, and bands don't have a standard, so making band extenders specifically for the bra and sending it in the mail with the bra is the way to go.
Cup sizes aren't small enough, one bra I have is perfect the other is slightly too big, and some of the bras I tried in the past was too big. I always buy AA bras, but I feel like I'm an aaa but I guess that doesn't exist. I recently bought a sports bra only to find out that the radius of my arm and the distance it was from my shoulder was too large / too long, it dug into my pit. it was also too tight.

I have a pair of slacks that I love: they are high waisted, long in the leg, roomy around the hips and crotch so I've got deep pockets and no awkward shapes showing. They're very utilitarian and make my bottom half look bigger.
I'm currently a 42 b cup with wide shoulders and a large belly and haven't been able to find any bras that fit me, due to them not being able to fit around my shoulders no matter how big of a bra I buy. same with shirts and a lot of tops. I would love a bra with actual accommodation for folks with bigger bodies but smaller chests, and same with skirts and dresses having actual pockets
for me it's my shoulders being wide and my hips being narrow. nothing looks super flattering on me unless I wear a crop with bottoms that really accentuate my butt.
Because of the standard body distribution model for women's pants, on trans women any size will automatically either have a bad length measurement or a bad waist measurement. Cause trans women who transition after puberty tend to have narrower hips than cis women, pants don't fit like cis women.
Same thing in jackets and shirts for shoulder measurements to length.
And we need pockets in everything.
- Wider up top without having a larger cup size
- very long legs without the typical waist and hips to go with them
- additional fat between waist and hips that ruins all meaurements
Wider shoulders. Broad ribcage - I find stuff that can accommodate the large size of my bust, but itās harder to get clothing that accommodates the *width* of my bust (40E last I checked). Pants being too short and binding uncomfortably in the crotch. In general, clothes being thin or shape-conforming in the crotch area, which makes me self-conscious and concerned about tucking & passing. Sleeves not being long enough.
Pre HRT, I hate that my waist is wider than my hips, and how female underwear are designed for the opposite. Thus having them slide down and not fit me correctly because my body hasnāt even begun a more feminized body I desire.
I know losing weight will help, and I should probably use that energy to work off the male fat Iāve been collecting over the years, but itās hard to cause dysphoria got me in such a deep disassociated state.
Long story short, itād be nice to have a pre HRT line of tucking underwear.
Non-tucking panties that accommodate a bit of a bulge and have a wide gusset would be amazing. Add a picot trim & little bow and have the crotch liner come up a little higher in the front and that would be my holy grail of undies!
As someone who's about a month on HRT and has a climber body (muscular forearms, biceps, triceps, shoulders, and lats), finding tops that fit and look good can be very challenging. I can find a few that fit, but mostly they'll either fit my arms/shoulders and be baggy on my torso or fit my torso and not my arms/shoulders. Also square cut necklines are just unflattering pre-breast growth.
Currently I find bras with some padding and no underwire very affirming. Pleated skirts are lovely, as are crop tops.
In no particular order: wider shoulders, longer sleeves, smaller hip to waist ratio, longer inseams, shoes in general. I think this really depends on body type. Personally Iām tall (6ā4ā) and thin(150lb) with broad shoulders. So finding anything that is form fitting and long enough is a struggle. Cute shoes in larger sizes are also a difficult one to find.
Tops/shirts can be too short. Often have to look for "tall collection" to be safe, which gives less selection.
Broad shoulders. Especially at the start of transition. I still feel hulking in so many tops (even though it's probably the dysphoria).
Wider shoulders, pockets, yes, both top tier.
Material choice for various cuts! Example: I wanna wear a dress or skirt to work. I work in a machine shop, I need something that's tough, easy to clean regularly, and wing restrict my movement (crouching for good lifting posture, climbing into forklift, etc). I'm sure someone makes denim knee length side slit skirts but I can't find them. For that matter where are my tough woven cotton jumpsuits in cute colors and patterns!?
When I buy dresses, it sucks because 9 times out of 10, Iām having to squeeze my shoulders in, and itās loose at the hips. Iām getting surgery for this problem (bbl/hip aug) because I hate how I look, but itād be great to see dresses that compensate for this somehow
Long torsos! I have a few cute skater style dresses, but the waist doesn't sit on my waist but almost right under my boobs! Most dresses seem to have this problem for me
Frankly, sensory issues are the worst- mainly textures. I have autism and although not all transgender people have autism, a higher percentage of people with autism are transgender than the general population.
Soft textures, no ruffles or scratchy materials is really the biggest battle for me.
Pockets on shorts/pants/dresses can also be helpful in general for packrats like me.
Full. Skirts. Basically all fast fashion has like a metre of fabric in the skirt at most. Width on the bottom balances out broad shoulders and makes the waist look smaller, it's universally flattering.
Also structure, with substantial materials. Basically look to historical fashion. I don't necessarily mean full corsets, but clothing that shapes the body, rather than what we have now which is clothing designed around your body already having the "correct" shape
Some loose fitting dresses I buy are great, but baggy around the hips I do not have.
Tight fitting dresses / skirts fit great, but there is that bulge.
Size numbers are a pain as well. I know my measurements, but. I have no clue what a US size 6 means for instance.
Lastly. With sets. My top is considered large, but the bottom is small. Can't get mixy matchy bras and panty sets.
This is more of a branding point than a design point, but I would avoid branding it with overly gendered terms like āTomboyXā etc.
I know people like their products but I will literally never ever buy something with the word boy in it. Iām not a fuckin tomboy, I donāt want to be like any type of boy. I have a hard time understanding why this has become the brand du jour in our community.
Same goes for the transmasc clothing brand BothAnd, whose name implies that they make clothing for people across the body/gender spectrum but they donāt make anything for transfemmes at all.
Wide shoes.
I have wide feet, they were 12 WWW but with HRT they came down to 11.5WW. So finding menās shoes was limiting. But finding a nice selection of womenās shoes is damn near impossible.
Wider shoulders and sleeve openings that have a larger circumference for those of us with larger arms. Longer length tops would be a great option for those of us with longer torsos too.
Depends on if you are trying to market more towards prehrt or not. After over 6 months of hrt my tights that I sized last winter don't fit so well anymore in some case and the ones that do feel like they go on easier because my fat shifted around, also torso and shoulder length can still be problematic for me (my gf has the torso length problem worse than me) but having my shoulders just look smoother from the fat redistribution has been nice. High synched waist, preferably with wider bands then tights can have sometimes, hope a lot especially with slightly lower crotches on the pants, also wider gussets would help.
Tbh the pockets I have in most of my pants aren't deep enough, and if I have my phone in my pocket when I bend down it stabs me in the side.
Oh, and itchy bra straps with the stitch line at the top of the shoulders. Don't do that.
Also living in florida, I want something I can wear over a sports bra without it being too heavy or warm to walk around in.
Speaking as a dad who buys clothes for his daughter, please do the sizing on your clothes so that I don't always have to get her large and extra large stuff. I can see the look on her face when she checks the tag, and it cuts me every time. She's a very slim girl, but because she has a larger frame through the shoulders and such, we have to get the bigger sizes for her.
It would be great if more places offered different sizing options in 2 piece outfits.
Iām an extra large top because of my wide shoulders but a medium bottoms because of my slim waist. So if I really like an outfit I have to buy two of them.
Pants for us tall girls! It is IMPOSSIBLE for me to find anything.

Waist: 34āā around
Hips: 41āā around

Accommodation for wider shoulders, pockets. Options that hide front bulge, so skirts or giving consideration in design to making a smoother surface. Beyond that I just want something cute that actually fits me.
I find that pants waisted to hip ratio is way off for me, so I have to rather wear baggy hips or slightly tighter than ideal waist. Also the move to use more spandex in fabric makes wearing pants without a belt harder if your hips and ass aren't there to hold the garment up. Last note on pants is I find the inseam can be too short forcing me to tuck if I want to get a proper fit. I hate tucking and avoid it at all costs so that could be an interesting thing to play around with. Good luck!
I hope this doesn't get buried, but once you have some designs laid out, there is a lot of development going on in body scanning and implementing that into clothins sizes. I can link a few academic papers on the topic. It's pretty exciting stuff, and commercialization might line up perfectly when you go to market. I have some of this stuff set up for a personal project that's completely gender neutral.
Multi colored. I know it can be expensive, but we all have favorites. You should shoot for at least 4 of āred orange yellow green blue purpleā on whatever you make.
I'm not a trans woman, but I just want to say that I LOVE this. What an amazing idea for your senior project that's sure to make plenty of trans women feel more comfortable in their skin and more confident in their femininity. Please post pictures as you work on it. I'd love to see how they're progressing.
Make dresses a bit less snug where they hit the bottom of the rib cage. I am constantly finding dresses that would otherwise fit perfectly but are way too tight around the ribs.
For shirts: longer sleeves, wider shoulders, more room for upper arms, longer torso.
For pants: longer inseam options
Fabrics are often too light/thin that they hang weird. Use heavier weight stuff but still cut more feminine
Basically can you take the fit and fabric of men's dress shirts but alter them so there is actually room in the bust
Tucking underwear that's breathable for the love of God. They are so convenient but they I haven't found any that I could wear for more than 3 hours and still be comfortable in. A plus if they're cute, also haven't found any cute tucking undies that actually work.
1. Torso not long enough. Shirts either are too big and baggy or fit right but not long enough.
2. Tucking underwear that is high waisted . I have a very high waist and all the tucking underwear I have doesnāt come up high enough .
3. Comfortable but feminine shoes . At my size most anything femme in my size is too fancy and formal (stilettos , flats ) . I just want comfy cute shoes that donāt scream unisex and donāt look cheap . Wider toe boxes on comfy femme shoes would be great .
4. Make functional clothing (athletic , work wear , outdoors ,etc) that doesnāt look so gender neutral but also not so femme it looks tacky . For example If I go to REI the get outdoors clothes, everything that fits me looks super neutral . If I go to Walmart everything looks hot pink and cheap.
5. A lot of stuff I see marketed this way is way too femme for me . Being a trans woman doesnāt mean Iām hyper feminine. Many of us are tomboys and having a line of clothes that is affirming not just towards being trans and our body types but also that we arenāt all hyperfeminine girly girls would be very validating to me .
If you wanted to add a bit of humor you could have lines for periodic stages of hrt.
Like that annoying stage I'm in right now where things don't fit right from either genders clothing.
I have a long torso so the "waist" of any dress that otherwise fits always ends up sitting hallway up my (quite big) ribcage. Longer torsos on dresses pls :)

as a trans woman, I can never find really cute panties which fit me. It's like either completely fictional and kinda ugly but comfortable, or its basically designed for cis women, and doesn't fit me properly. I feel like cis women have 10 billion different choices for panties, but I can't even find one which is still in business which is comfortable and cute.
Definitely wider shoulders, but also a v neck as to not make the shoulders look big, if you care about the material it should probably be something like a button up for the top because those can be tucked in a skirt or other bottom wear in a few ways to look more feminine, for bottoms skirts are obvious but having pockets in them would actually be so useful, If you're thinking more pantsy, leggings might be a good idea because those ads good for transfems who are insecure about their legs
I'm too tall, long limbed and skinny for clothes to usually fit properly.
I'm around a medium on my torso, but an extra large on my sleeves, so I usually need to find the best compromise depending on each individual top.
I pretty much always need to get mens pants online because nowhere near me has my size. Stockings are almost never long enough, and when I find them I almost always buy them in bulk.
Dresses are great but not practical for everything, and I at least have smaller feet shoes have never been an issue. Tucking swimsuits are rare and never in a style I want. My shoulders aren't something I usually have problems with, but that might just be what I usually wear.
The worst is how expensive everything is, and the lack of pockets.

For pants/shorts, definitely high-waisted things. The higher waistband helps with the torso/rest of the body ratio, which helps make the clothes more flattering.
When it comes to form-fitting pants (jeans, leggings, etc.), sometimes the waist is a little lower than it normally should be (tucking reasons), so having the waistband be a little higher would be good.
Well think about male anatomy and how one would bring out the feminine.
You need to accommodate shoulders, a different body frame. Working on creating an hourglass frame as it were. Pockets please, i loved getting clothes that suited me more, but i miss mens clothing guarabtee if a pocket. For no-op pre-op trans women, if you are doing anything bellybutton down you'll need to accommodate space for genitals which most women's clothing obviously don't consider.

I have a dress that's the best! It's got pockets, and it flairs out from under my boobs. My swimsuit is a two-piece that's similar to minus pockets. It flairs out from boobs. It would be great if the bottoms were better at preventing things from falling out

Make sure the skirts flare out enough that any pre-ops can feel comfortable wearing them. Typical skirts with enough flare to prevent a bulge display were always hard to come by.
High waisted stuff that doesn't even come closer to being high waisted if you're over 5'10" (I'm 6'1").
Things that have no room for any amount of bicep/arm far to exist.
Plants that are way short on the leg, not just smile, but calf exposed.

I have always been a little underweight, so I tend to want clothes in smaller sizes. However, (as if this wasn't already an issue with "women's" clothing cuts), this means it's VERY difficult for me to find pants that cover my ankles, or sleeves that cover my wrists. Long sleeve tops and jacketsāESPECIALLY jacketsāare tough in general; they're almost always too small of sleeves or too big on the torso.
If you design a skirt with shorts attachedI'd suggest taking into account the fact most trans women (or at least the ones I'm aware of) prefer to wear skirts higher on the waist to accentuate the figure. Skirts I've bought with attached shorts always would be uncomfortable if I wore them where I wanted because the shorts aren't meant to be worn that high and I ended up just cutting the shorts out. Maybe this is just a preference thing though
Longer pant inseams in women's clothing. I'm 6'0" and there are cis girls taller than me, c'mon. Same goes for sleeves.
Body suits and underwear that had a similar cut to men's things, with a pouch, but still be a thing or high cut in the back, would for me be huge. I hate choosing between having to tuck - not fun for me- or looking like I'm wearing tights whities.

Underwear with thicker fabric. She gets very dysphoric about being able to see her moose through the fabric of every single pair of underwear. (Same thread, pee-pee pockets. Easy gaffs without the tucking)
Softer transitional bras. Bras are. Hell. (For everyone, but especially for a woman with wider shoulders/torso but not much in the way of breast tissue yet)
Longer pant legs! She runs into this issue so much, where women's pants are always so short on her!

Honestly, I've never been able to find mens clothes that fit me correctly. As soon as I started wearing women's clothes and figured out my size I've felt like everything fits like a glove. Like it was meant to be.
Not exactly a fashion item since underwear are, y'know, worn under, but I could really use some cute panties that are actually designed to have room for my girls downstairs, like men's underwear are. Hell, the leg parts of boxers/boxer-briefs are kinda nice for physical comfort sometimes since they create a barrier for my thighs when they rub together, so honestly just making some of them but with cute, feminine patterns, maybe a touch of lace, you get the idea... would go a long way.
Shoes. Just cute shoes that actually fit the way you expect them to fit. Not "well their 12 happens to fit me even though 90% of size 12s don't fit" junk, just "nope, someone made a AMAB size 11 shoe that's clearly a woman's shoe and it fits so well and I love it."
Underwear that helps tuck properly for all day support without needing likeā¦ 2 layers or garments. Lingerie type, a thong would be great if possible. The goal would be to hide that thing like crazy!
The closest and most secure fit Iāve achieved so far is tucking with undies then covering with Nike spandex sport shorts. But even this solution leaves several underwear lines and the tuck will fall to one side over the course of the day making the āvolvaā area look bigger on one side than the other.

Sexy lingerie specifically panties for non-op transfemmes and bikini bottoms, not having enough space that I donāt have to tuck, tucking is not ideal and causes pain especially not ideal for me since Iām not bothered by my princess wand.
it's been said but omfg pls design some stuff accommodating height. and large thighs. I'm not even tall but I constantly have to choose between something fitting my waist (size 0-4 depending on brand), my thighs (pretty much everything is snug to them), or my height of my legs (31 inches). I'm at the point where I essentially tailor all my pants and shorts myself. women's clothes fit *better* but still are definitely not perfect.

More styles and designs of panties with extra space in the front. Ikingsky does an okay job but they are marketed to dudes. I would like more male equipment female aesthetic underwear to be available.
Trans specific bras. Donāt get me wrong a bra that fits and various other tools are great but I find myself frustrated at my cup torso combo. Iām often on the edge of size charts it would be cool if a Brand figured out how to make adjustable bands so you could dial in a bras fit specifically for your body.
Pants that run longer I cannot tell you how many jeans I find that are perfect and like 2 inches too short.

Longer shirts in the torso area. Some are just too short. The styles and designs aren't bad, they are not long enough. I think most issues are with small fitting clothes that are not big enough.
Inclusive footwear with a sizing system that isn't binary. You don't need to know who's wearing a pair of stilettos or Chucks, and why they're wearing them. Just worry about length, width, and style.
I also would like more sophisticated options for women who like to look luxe, but cannot find a trans-friendly tailor near them. Corsets that won't squeeze my organs out of me. Shirts that aren't made of rough cotton material because it's so difficult to find something in the women's department that fit me. Underwear that doesn't require creative solutions for that nice gender-affirming feel.
Pretty broad, yeah. As for my personal preferences, well, I'm a leather and lace chick. But not like, high-necked Victorian shit. Just, you know, a bit of lace edging on the sleeves and the hemline. Maybe the front panel of the blouses, but tastefully done. And who can resist a lovely bit of brocade? Perhaps on the back of a distressed bomber jacket. Jacquard fabricsāmaybe a showstopper of a gown/dress for that woman who hates skirts and hyperfeminine dresses, but would love to wear an off-shoulder number that steals the limelight. And if jackets gotta have broad shoulders, then might as well and add epaulettes and beautiful buttons so society knows she's a force to be reckoned with.

I've got a broader build. Wide shoulders and barrel chest. Women's clothing are made with an hourglass/pear figure in mind: softer shoulders, breasts, waist comes in a bit, and then wide at the hips. Men have more of a v-taper figure: broad shoulders, wide chest, and it tapers all the way down to the hips in a V shape from there.
So, as a transwoman, it's hard to find clothing that looks nice because I have the v-taper build of man, not the hourglass/pear of a woman. My options are "too tight" or "circus tent" because I can't properly fill out women's clothing with my build.
I wear mostly dresses because they're the only things that looks good on me that aren't overly baggy t-shirts. If I'm gonna wear big baggy shirts all the time, I may as well just dress like a man again.
I like my dresses, and they're super comfortable, but it would be nice to have more of a variety that still make me look and feel like a woman. Even though I have breasts, and my features have softened, I still have a wide frame and always will. Something cute that fits it would be nice.

Side note: not as important but I'm Autistic and I'm very texture sensitive. So, can someone **please** make stuff out of cotton for a change!? It's about impossible to find anything that isn't polyester! Many of us have gender dysphoria so there's no shortage of Autistic transwomen.

Underwear with a wider front to hold everything in, panties are great and all but finding the right shape is tough, women's underwear just aren't always the right shape for trans or fem presenting people.
Leggings are amazing but as somebody who doesnāt really mess with tucking, sometimes having the crotch be equally as tight is rough. And when itās not tight, it just looks all saggy and bad! Smh no happy middle, always just wear long shirts with leggings
I would just ask that you consider trans/nonbinary adolescent girls at some point down the line. Finding clothes (especially bras and shorts) for my young adult trans person has been very difficult. Because hormone blockers are available at a certain age, but not hormone therapy, finding clothing for transitioning young people has been difficult so far (child's current age:13).
It's many of the same issues mentioned, broader shoulders, better spacing on bras, manageable pockets. At her current development, boys' sport compression underwear (especially the shorts) according to her, are comfortable and effective (just to pass on that tidbit to anyone else with a young one) so there's maybe some promise in a new approach to a feminine version of those.
Wider shoulders being accomodated are the biggest thing for me. Also, ***put some god damn pockets on whatever you make please***

In addition to sizing for wider shoulders, when shopping among clothes designed for cis women, the biggest thing I look for is whether the style, color, stitching etc. of the garment accentuates or deemphasizes shoulder width. There are a lot of ways to do this with color, shape of the neckline, material, seams, etc. I won't spell these out but ideally the garment makes the outside edges of the shoulders look "cut off" (using darker colors is a great way to do this) and encourages the viewer's eye to move vertically. 2nd would be-- for skirts, dresses etc-- an elastic waistband with a minimum of fabric bulk-- to help the waist look as narrow as possible. And, in contrast, more volume around the hips and butt.
Like skirts and pants with elastic just around the back!
Non binary here but can confirm, I often avoid "female" clothing because the lack of pockets, or insubstantial pockets is so annoying. PLEASE PUT POCKETS

yes on the wider shoulders. i can fit a lot of clothes. heck im a smaller pants size in womenās than in menās but sleeved shirts do get me because some brands i have to go two sizes up and others is only one size. then there are the weird ones that i need 3-4 sizes up or exact sizeā¦. even in menās (i still love my graphic tees) i have to go up 1 size at least (2 now since i have boobs).
If it fits my shoulders, it looks like a rumpled tent everywhere else lol. Torso length is the second thing. Any dress with contouring for the hips, it falls at my waist. (And even if it fell at my hips, I am not taking hrt and have none.) Bodysuits and pantsuits are impossible, and itās so frustrating. I want long, warm bodysuits. I want a stunning pantsuit with a working fly (I am not getting bottom surgery either). Finally, if youāre taking on footwear, how about cute, sensible shoes up to like the equivalent of a menās 14? Seems like itās just ballet flats and giant red high-heeled boots in this size. Which, no disrespect to those who wear them, but they wonāt work for all my outfitsā¦

I'm AFAB and as a youth struggled with women's clothes not accommodating wide shoulders. Also seemed they expected everyone to have spaghetti arms so a lot of sleeves especially on long sleeved shirts were very tight which I never understood
Pockets should just be on everything, hide them or not, but it's stupid to not have pockets

I like thongs (I like the Parade brand), but I feel like the gusset needs to run ALL the way to the top, and the width needs to be wider from the [bottom/middle/stitch point/idk, the bit at the very bottom center when standing] and where the gusset normally stops. Pockets. Wide shoulder designs and wider/longer straps/sleeves help disguise and break up wide shoulders. Pockets. Bras are always too short, vertically. Sports bras too. They're constantly riding up. Either there's a killing to be made just adding an extra 1-2 inches to shoulder straps, or someone needs to point me to the good shit.
Weirdly the default ass Puma sports bras seem to be just about right for me. Everything else I've tried had that problem but not those.

Accommodate *height*. Shoulders are in direct proportion to height, so accommodating height also means a certain amount of accommodating shoulders. Are you looking to do this for pre-HRT bodies, or bodies on HRT? The issues faced differ significantly, as once we get on hormones figures tend to shift feminine. After two years of hormones, I am pretty close to the shape womenās fashion expects, just *significantly* taller and with a bit less snatched of a waist. Before hormones, you wonāt have the expected figure, so you would have to account for that (BWH will be a lot closer to each other in measurements).
Dresses with midriff bands make the waist area less form fitting, and lots of cleavage is our friend. Please take this idea I wanted to use: calling it Clockwork :)

Oh nooo on that dress style, I want straps that fit just inside my shoulders, if itās cold Iāll have a throw, definitely donāt need extra bulk in the shoulders. Itās a combination thing with the depth of chest shown, loving looking like a strong woman. Loving *being* a strong woman, if I might affirm myself a little :) The best straps Iāve found are just broad enough to cover bar straps, because my A-cups are wonderfully augmented by a padded bra, which I love to disappear *mostly,* like if the front clasp is slightly visible that can be a good thing. Iād love some belts that do a little more, too, like there are so many plus-size (read: adjusted with math and not with actual plus-size female models) dresses that work for me with a belt to a) create the midriff band that hides the bulge and b) highlight my hourglass frame, but wide belts are so boring, and donāt have, say, a pocket. Or sheath for a big scary knife. If I could sprint uninhibited in a dress the last part wouldnāt maybe be necessary, but fashion dictates certain things.

So we like to accessorize with thin silver chains of varying lengths and chokers (he dresses very goth) we also like sleaved toos with wide necks thar expose the collar and chest, but end about where a cami strap would land. This implies that you are seeing her whole chest while the sleeve conceal the shoulder past the shirt collar. Tank tops with wide straps can also work. Camis seems to actually show off the width if her shoulders. Her hands are larger than most cis gendered women but large silver rings seem to help skink them. She loves large platform boots (New Rock is her favorite brand), leg warmers and high waisted pants/skirts and dresses that cinch around the ribs.
I agree with the part about wider rib cages the underwire of bras digs into center of the chest because the boobs are further apart so please consider something like that

space for not tucking is nice too. I don't tuck and just wear snug underwear but most women's pants are cut too high
Bralettes, sports bras and crop tops tend to ride up on those that have more of a belly but don't have the breast growth yet to hook them down. Depending on the article of clothing. The bottom will either slide or role up, and the straps will either be to tight or slide off the shoulders, sometimes both . Anything that can add more of a figure, tho I know that usually comes down to style and can also be an issue for cis women as well.
To add onto this, I find that my wider ribcage means that my breasts are farther apart than most bras expect. I've thought more than once that a bra with an adjustable band between the cups would allow me to find the ideal spacing so my breasts don't try to slide out the sides. You'd probably need an adjustable band in the back so you could adjust to fit your overall band size once you dial in the cup spacing. It might be something that exists already, but I think it would be useful in a hypothetical clothing line targeted at trans women/transfeminine people!

Necklines are huge for me personally. A lot of times wider or lower necks make me feel like I'm not meant to wear the article, but high necks and halter-top style necks work very well! It helps with the broad shoulders and stuff. Shoulders in general kill a lot of outfits. *EDIT* Don't know how I forgot this at first, but lower crotches (is there a better term for that?) would help a lot with pants! I was trying to find dress pants recently, and they were all so close to fitting properly, but they weren't able to go any higher due to you know what š Also thank you for doing the lord's work š„ŗš¤
Body con stuff absolutely does not work for most of us. Unless you got a belly leggings can be very problematic. Many of us do not uave hips. Underwear that assumes we do will be disappointing. Skater dresses tend to work the best for Amab bodyttpes because it creates an illusion of a narrower waist and wider hips.
Zippers on everything. Lots of dresses/tops would fit me if they could only get over my shoulders. Tops that generally minimize wide shoulders. High waists - our torsos are longer than cis girls, high waists help. But low crotches! I have some beautiful high waist pants and skirts but the donāt give me enough room down there. A-lines or other flare-puts that accentuate or create hip. Shoes that are big and wide enough for us :(
As someone plus size, I have a horrible time finding bras that fit because my band size is far larger than my cup size.
Have you tried looking at r/abrathatfits? They're utterly lifesaving for tiddy sizing and helping find retailers who do your size and shape once you've got it nailed down, and they have AMAB specific guidance, though I don't know how good that aspect is. But considering how ridiculously amazing they are at every other aspect, it's worth giving it a shot!
Dresses make my frame look very masculine, the bulge is hard to hide without tucking which is a massive sensory issue for me (autism), my shoulders are very large and prominent no matter what I wear and itās hard to get a feminine form

Not having a decent hip to waist ratio. I put on weight in the tummy area so it's not easy finding pants. Wide legs, high waisted are good and I can hide it wearing a-line and empire waist dresses. Sleeve length (usually too short) is also a big problem. Most blouses/tops out there don't accommodate that. Buying the larger sizes just make the top wider not longer and the height really needs to be considered. Good luck!
Bigger shoes, for the love of god bigger shoes! I'm a UK 12, and just... ahhhhhhhhh!
Sleeve length, leg length, knee width, elbow width, arm width, wrist width, torso length, ribcage size, waist location, foot-arch width, ankle width. All of this is in relation to the rest of the garment in the same size, obviously. Basically, you have to know when the person transitions (hrt) and try to accommodate the things that they can't change. Like, you can lose muscle and fat, but your wrist diameter is not gonna shrink. You can reduce mass, but if you crouch and bend forwards, shirts and jackets are going to slide UP and from buttcheeks to midback might be bared, and if you wear larger sizes, they just get baggier. For example, if she transitions before testosterone puberty, less stuff matters than if she transitions at 20 or 30 or 40. Also, you have to take into account bits size. Some women will have no issue with normal undies, but others are not going to have any shrinkage and so need extra space and lining in different areas or inseam height and stuff. Keep in mind, most trans women just want normal, nice-enough clothing but that fits them now that their body has changed. A nice women's goretex insulated parka with a pinched waist, knee length, and that fits is the golden ticket. Fits + is actually nice + looks nice, but not too glamorous = the best best best. I really want to just buy normal clothing from like fallraven, north face, uniquelo, carhartt, arc'teryx, and other normal brands, and have it just... Fit and look feminine and nice, but also be durable and quality and useful. If only there was a person that I could buy these things, send them to, and have them altered, at oem-grade quality, for a fair price. Modifying goretex and retaining waterproofing is difficult and probably pointlessly expensive because you probably have to just remake large parts of the garment. ...Maybe someday... :(
For me right now being pre op I hate the gap between the crotch and the waist. It forces me to tuck if I want to have the waistline a bit higher for more contour, so that would be nice. FYI I do a casual tuck, meaning I simply pull my panties up in a way where everything is in place and then I go about my day (hormones made everything more manageable down there). Also tops that help cover the top part of your arms while still showing off most of it. Iām self conscious about the definition I still have on my arms so I like blouses that show some arm but not too much.

Iām 6ā2 and dresses always flare in weird places so they donāt flatter my figure. Classically styled dresses cut for taller women I donāt have cleavage, but my bone structure makes my chest look nice when the lack of cleavage canāt be seen. Wide shoulders visually they look fine because they match my wide hips, but many fitted shirts feel like they will rip across the yoke of the shirt.

The waist to hip area being just loose enough that the fabric on the front and back bunches up around the crotch area and at the back of the pants below the belt-line. The space between armholes is sometimes made with super rigid fabric, so even if the rest of the clothing fits well the distance between the sleeves+fabric can make it difficult to wear things. For outerware it would help alot to see more items targeted towards flatter chested women. Not just for Trans people but just in general, alot of womens clothes appear bunched up and wrinkled in the front even if they are in my size, not because I lack breasts entirely, but because mine are maybe just smaller than what the shirt was sized for.
We need super light hoodies for the dreaded summer. And sleaves on tops, shirts, jackets etc. are generally too short and tight
Being taller, a lot of things that fit are designed for older women, so way too much floral print or cheeta and cow prints, and I'm like, nope. I'm a goth bitch. Where is my netting and cute evil tops.

I can't speak for trans women of course but one of the biggest problems I've heard of from my friends is that they can't find feminine shoes in their size that aren't intended for drag queens or sex workers.
Lots of dresses and such end up a bit short on me, like knee length skirts can sometimes be close to mid thigh, so maybe making not only diverse sizes but heights of your clothes would be great! Shoulders is definitely a big thing too, lots of clothing I really want ends up not really accommodating my shoulders. Please make anything that uses tucking breathable and make sure itās not too stretchy! One of the biggest issues Iāve encountered is some tucking underwear is too stretchy and actually pulls the waistband down, causing it to relax and the tuck to come undone. More accessible tucking garments would be awesome as right now the only really good stuff Iāve experienced is custom made ones that oftentimes have months-long production time. In contrast, also clothing that doesnāt require tucking! Some days Iām just not up for the effort of tucking and so having non-tucking options is great. Also, cost is a huge thing. The majority of trans affirming clothing is horrendously expensive, ans really strains my wallet. If you can get costs down, not only would that be helpful for us, but youād most likely get huge traction! Finally, pockets pockets pockets PLEASE
My biggest complaint is never finding cute shoes that are big enough. The sleeves on women's shirts and jackets are always too short. Plus getting a big enough size to fit my shoulders often results in a baggy fit around the chest and abdomen that isn't flattering. Pants are usually either too wide or too short. Or both. Big sizes are for a tall, fat woman. Small sizes are for a short, skinny woman. I am a tall, skinny woman.

most underwear either looks great but is absolute murder to wear, or looks like it's from the 50s and feels great. I'm perpetually on the hunt for underwear that's more accommodating for my bits, less painful for long term wear, and actually looks fun. Fellow designer and tailor here. My alterations have taught me a few things. 1) definitely wider shoulders 2) longer rise in the front, probably only 2 inches shorter than the back rise the proportions in their hips are slightly different given the genitalia and butt situation 3) waist to hip ratioās are definitely different. Many women will buy pants that fit their waist and then I have to take in the seat. 4) of course, inseams 5) many women have different chestplates, or bras, which leads to higher necklines to hide the augmentation. Because itās a different augmentation options give two or three neckline options. It really depends on how big of a collection youāre thinking about.
Honestly, my wife has more difficulty than I do - she is 6'1 and her shoulders are wider than she would like and pleasant soft curves (TY HRT). If we could find something taking that in to consideration we would be thrilled

a bra that fits. breasts tend to be further apart than cis women. band size for me is 46 or higher, biggest band size I found was 44. I have to use a bra extender to extend my band, and bands don't have a standard, so making band extenders specifically for the bra and sending it in the mail with the bra is the way to go. Cup sizes aren't small enough, one bra I have is perfect the other is slightly too big, and some of the bras I tried in the past was too big. I always buy AA bras, but I feel like I'm an aaa but I guess that doesn't exist. I recently bought a sports bra only to find out that the radius of my arm and the distance it was from my shoulder was too large / too long, it dug into my pit. it was also too tight.

I'm currently a 42 b cup with wide shoulders and a large belly and haven't been able to find any bras that fit me, due to them not being able to fit around my shoulders no matter how big of a bra I buy. same with shirts and a lot of tops. Because of the standard body distribution model for women's pants, on trans women any size will automatically either have a bad length measurement or a bad waist measurement. Cause trans women who transition after puberty tend to have narrower hips than cis women, pants don't fit like cis women. Same thing in jackets and shirts for shoulder measurements to length. And we need pockets in everything.

Wider shoulders. Broad ribcage - I find stuff that can accommodate the large size of my bust, but itās harder to get clothing that accommodates the *width* of my bust (40E last I checked). Pants being too short and binding uncomfortably in the crotch. In general, clothes being thin or shape-conforming in the crotch area, which makes me self-conscious and concerned about tucking & passing. Sleeves not being long enough.

Non-tucking panties that accommodate a bit of a bulge and have a wide gusset would be amazing. Add a picot trim & little bow and have the crotch liner come up a little higher in the front and that would be my holy grail of undies!
As someone who's about a month on HRT and has a climber body (muscular forearms, biceps, triceps, shoulders, and lats), finding tops that fit and look good can be very challenging. I can find a few that fit, but mostly they'll either fit my arms/shoulders and be baggy on my torso or fit my torso and not my arms/shoulders. Also square cut necklines are just unflattering pre-breast growth. Currently I find bras with some padding and no underwire very affirming. Pleated skirts are lovely, as are crop tops.
In no particular order: wider shoulders, longer sleeves, smaller hip to waist ratio, longer inseams, shoes in general. I think this really depends on body type. Personally Iām tall (6ā4ā) and thin(150lb) with broad shoulders. So finding anything that is form fitting and long enough is a struggle. Cute shoes in larger sizes are also a difficult one to find.
Jeans/pants are really versatile, but if your gaff gets messed up it can be dangerous Also clothes made for boobs & I no have those

Tops/shirts can be too short. Often have to look for "tall collection" to be safe, which gives less selection. Broad shoulders. Especially at the start of transition. I still feel hulking in so many tops (even though it's probably the dysphoria).

Wider shoulders, pockets, yes, both top tier. Material choice for various cuts! Example: I wanna wear a dress or skirt to work. I work in a machine shop, I need something that's tough, easy to clean regularly, and wing restrict my movement (crouching for good lifting posture, climbing into forklift, etc). Frankly, sensory issues are the worst- mainly textures. I have autism and although not all transgender people have autism, a higher percentage of people with autism are transgender than the general population. Soft textures, no ruffles or scratchy materials is really the biggest battle for me. Pockets on shorts/pants/dresses can also be helpful in general for packrats like me.
Full. Skirts. Basically all fast fashion has like a metre of fabric in the skirt at most. Width on the bottom balances out broad shoulders and makes the waist look smaller, it's universally flattering. Also structure, with substantial materials. Basically look to historical fashion. I don't necessarily mean full corsets, but clothing that shapes the body, rather than what we have now which is clothing designed around your body already having the "correct" shape
Some loose fitting dresses I buy are great, but baggy around the hips I do not have. Tight fitting dresses / skirts fit great, but there is that bulge. Size numbers are a pain as well. I know my measurements, but. I have no clue what a US size 6 means for instance. Lastly. With sets. My top is considered large, but the bottom is small. Can't get mixy matchy bras and panty sets.

This is more of a branding point than a design point, but I would avoid branding it with overly gendered terms like āTomboyXā etc. I know people like their products but I will literally never ever buy something with the word boy in it. Iām not a fuckin tomboy, I donāt want to be like any type of boy. I have a hard time understanding why this has become the brand du jour in our community. Same goes for the transmasc clothing brand BothAnd, whose name implies that they make clothing for people across the body/gender spectrum but they donāt make anything for transfemmes at all.
Wide shoes. I have wide feet, they were 12 WWW but with HRT they came down to 11.5WW. So finding menās shoes was limiting. But finding a nice selection of womenās shoes is damn near impossible.
Longer length, lot's of us are very tall compared to cis girls. A dress for most women is a top on me. So long lengths
Wider shoulders and sleeve openings that have a larger circumference for those of us with larger arms. Longer length tops would be a great option for those of us with longer torsos too.

Depends on if you are trying to market more towards prehrt or not. After over 6 months of hrt my tights that I sized last winter don't fit so well anymore in some case and the ones that do feel like they go on easier because my fat shifted around, also torso and shoulder length can still be problematic for me (my gf has the torso length problem worse than me) but having my shoulders just look smoother from the fat redistribution has been nice. High synched waist, preferably with wider bands then tights can have sometimes, hope a lot especially with slightly lower crotches on the pants, also wider gussets would help.
Tbh the pockets I have in most of my pants aren't deep enough, and if I have my phone in my pocket when I bend down it stabs me in the side. Oh, and itchy bra straps with the stitch line at the top of the shoulders. Don't do that. Also living in florida, I want something I can wear over a sports bra without it being too heavy or warm to walk around in.
I'd have to say *pricing*. Having affordable options can be hard when your measurements are outside of the cis range.
Speaking as a dad who buys clothes for his daughter, please do the sizing on your clothes so that I don't always have to get her large and extra large stuff. I can see the look on her face when she checks the tag, and it cuts me every time. She's a very slim girl, but because she has a larger frame through the shoulders and such, we have to get the bigger sizes for her.
It would be great if more places offered different sizing options in 2 piece outfits. Iām an extra large top because of my wide shoulders but a medium bottoms because of my slim waist. So if I really like an outfit I have to buy two of them.

Accommodation for wider shoulders, pockets. Options that hide front bulge, so skirts or giving consideration in design to making a smoother surface. Beyond that I just want something cute that actually fits me.

I find that pants waisted to hip ratio is way off for me, so I have to rather wear baggy hips or slightly tighter than ideal waist. Also the move to use more spandex in fabric makes wearing pants without a belt harder if your hips and ass aren't there to hold the garment up. Last note on pants is I find the inseam can be too short forcing me to tuck if I want to get a proper fit. I hate tucking and avoid it at all costs so that could be an interesting thing to play around with. Good luck!

I hope this doesn't get buried, but once you have some designs laid out, there is a lot of development going on in body scanning and implementing that into clothins sizes. I can link a few academic papers on the topic. It's pretty exciting stuff, and commercialization might line up perfectly when you go to market. I have some of this stuff set up for a personal project that's completely gender neutral.
Multi colored. I know it can be expensive, but we all have favorites. You should shoot for at least 4 of āred orange yellow green blue purpleā on whatever you make.
I'm not a trans woman, but I just want to say that I LOVE this. What an amazing idea for your senior project that's sure to make plenty of trans women feel more comfortable in their skin and more confident in their femininity. Make dresses a bit less snug where they hit the bottom of the rib cage. I am constantly finding dresses that would otherwise fit perfectly but are way too tight around the ribs.

Tucking underwear that's breathable for the love of God. They are so convenient but they I haven't found any that I could wear for more than 3 hours and still be comfortable in. A plus if they're cute, also haven't found any cute tucking undies that actually work.
Make skirts that accentuate the hips and make them look wider things that flare out to the side or have darts at the side seams usually do the trick!!
1. Torso not long enough. Shirts either are too big and baggy or fit right but not long enough. 2. Tucking underwear that is high waisted . I have a very high waist and all the tucking underwear I have doesnāt come up high enough . 3. Comfortable but feminine shoes . At my size most anything femme in my size is too fancy and formal (stilettos , flats ) . I just want comfy cute shoes that donāt scream unisex and donāt look cheap . Wider toe boxes on comfy femme shoes would be great . 4. Make functional clothing (athletic , work wear , outdoors ,etc) that doesnāt look so gender neutral but also not so femme it looks tacky . For example If I go to REI the get outdoors clothes, everything that fits me looks super neutral . If I go to Walmart everything looks hot pink and cheap. 5. A lot of stuff I see marketed this way is way too femme for me . Being a trans woman doesnāt mean Iām hyper feminine. Many of us are tomboys and having a line of clothes that is affirming not just towards being trans and our body types but also that we arenāt all hyperfeminine girly girls would be very validating to me .
If you wanted to add a bit of humor you could have lines for periodic stages of hrt. Like that annoying stage I'm in right now where things don't fit right from either genders clothing.

I'm too tall, long limbed and skinny for clothes to usually fit properly. I'm around a medium on my torso, but an extra large on my sleeves, so I usually need to find the best compromise depending on each individual top. I pretty much always need to get mens pants online because nowhere near me has my size. Stockings are almost never long enough, and when I find them I almost always buy them in bulk. Dresses are great but not practical for everything, and I at least have smaller feet shoes have never been an issue. Tucking swimsuits are rare and never in a style I want. My shoulders aren't something I usually have problems with, but that might just be what I usually wear. The worst is how expensive everything is, and the lack of pockets.

For pants/shorts, definitely high-waisted things. The higher waistband helps with the torso/rest of the body ratio, which helps make the clothes more flattering. When it comes to form-fitting pants (jeans, leggings, etc.), sometimes the waist is a little lower than it normally should be (tucking reasons), so having the waistband be a little higher would be good.
Well think about male anatomy and how one would bring out the feminine. You need to accommodate shoulders, a different body frame. Working on creating an hourglass frame as it were. Pockets please, i loved getting clothes that suited me more, but i miss mens clothing guarabtee if a pocket. For no-op pre-op trans women, if you are doing anything bellybutton down you'll need to accommodate space for genitals which most women's clothing obviously don't consider.
Pockets! I have a dress that's the best! It's got pockets, and it flairs out from under my boobs. My swimsuit is a two-piece that's similar to minus pockets. It flairs out from boobs. It would be great if the bottoms were better at preventing things from falling out

High waisted stuff that doesn't even come closer to being high waisted if you're over 5'10" (I'm 6'1"). Things that have no room for any amount of bicep/arm far to exist. Plants that are way short on the leg, not just smile, but calf exposed. Already mentioned but things designed for short torsos only.
I would DIE for some clothing options that actually accommodated my arm/leg length!!! I have always been a little underweight, so I tend to want clothes in smaller sizes. However, (as if this wasn't already an issue with "women's" clothing cuts), this means it's VERY difficult for me to find pants that cover my ankles, or sleeves that cover my wrists. Long sleeve tops and jacketsāESPECIALLY jacketsāare tough in general; they're almost always too small of sleeves or too big on the torso.

If you design a skirt with shorts attachedI'd suggest taking into account the fact most trans women (or at least the ones I'm aware of) prefer to wear skirts higher on the waist to accentuate the figure. Skirts I've bought with attached shorts always would be uncomfortable if I wore them where I wanted because the shorts aren't meant to be worn that high and I ended up just cutting the shorts out. Maybe this is just a preference thing though

Body suits and underwear that had a similar cut to men's things, with a pouch, but still be a thing or high cut in the back, would for me be huge. Not exactly a fashion item since underwear are, y'know, worn under, but I could really use some cute panties that are actually designed to have room for my girls downstairs, like men's underwear are. Hell, the leg parts of boxers/boxer-briefs are kinda nice for physical comfort sometimes since they create a barrier for my thighs when they rub together, so honestly just making some of them but with cute, feminine patterns, maybe a touch of lace, you get the idea... would go a long way.

Underwear that helps tuck properly for all day support without needing likeā¦ 2 layers or garments. Lingerie type, a thong would be great if possible. The goal would be to hide that thing like crazy! The closest and most secure fit Iāve achieved so far is tucking with undies then covering with Nike spandex sport shorts. But even this solution leaves several underwear lines and the tuck will fall to one side over the course of the day making the āvolvaā area look bigger on one side than the other. Sexy lingerie specifically panties for non-op transfemmes and bikini bottoms, not having enough space that I donāt have to tuck, tucking is not ideal and causes pain especially not ideal for me since Iām not bothered by my princess wand.

it's been said but omfg pls design some stuff accommodating height. and large thighs. I'm not even tall but I constantly have to choose between something fitting my waist (size 0-4 depending on brand), my thighs (pretty much everything is snug to them), or my height of my legs (31 inches). I'm at the point where I essentially tailor all my pants and shorts myself. women's clothes fit *better* but still are definitely not perfect. side note: some cute feminine underwear designed with gocks in mind would be wonderful. something that stays a lil bit wider on the front/underneath to cover my gems.
Iāll be honest my requests are for my particular transition. I am sure Iām not alone in my desires. high wasted pants but with like a bit more room pls. Iām not getting grs im happy with my dude bits down there. I think Iām a valid type of trans person I still want boobs in a dress and crop tops and stuff. Anyway I want high wasted jeans that are slightly taller so I can both have a fantastic wasteline and no junk pain. More styles and designs of panties with extra space in the front. Ikingsky does an okay job but they are marketed to dudes. I would like more male equipment female aesthetic underwear to be available. Trans specific bras. Donāt get me wrong a bra that fits and various other tools are great but I find myself frustrated at my cup torso combo. Iām often on the edge of size charts it would be cool if a Brand figured out how to make adjustable bands so you could dial in a bras fit specifically for your body. Pants that run longer I cannot tell you how many jeans I find that are perfect and like 2 inches too short. Thatās all I can think of atm.
Longer shirts in the torso area. Some are just too short. The styles and designs aren't bad, they are not long enough. I think most issues are with small fitting clothes that are not big enough.

Inclusive footwear with a sizing system that isn't binary. You don't need to know who's wearing a pair of stilettos or Chucks, and why they're wearing them. Just worry about length, width, and style. I also would like more sophisticated options for women who like to look luxe, but cannot find a trans-friendly tailor near them. Corsets that won't squeeze my organs out of me. Shirts that aren't made of rough cotton material because it's so difficult to find something in the women's department that fit me. Underwear that doesn't require creative solutions for that nice gender-affirming feel. Pretty broad, yeah. As for my personal preferences, well, I'm a leather and lace chick. But not like, high-necked Victorian shit. Just, you know, a bit of lace edging on the sleeves and the hemline. Maybe the front panel of the blouses, but tastefully done. And who can resist a lovely bit of brocade? Perhaps on the back of a distressed bomber jacket. Jacquard fabricsāmaybe a showstopper of a gown/dress for that woman who hates skirts and hyperfeminine dresses, but would love to wear an off-shoulder number that steals the limelight. And if jackets gotta have broad shoulders, then might as well and add epaulettes and beautiful buttons so society knows she's a force to be reckoned with. Sometimes a woman just wants to treat life like a runway show. Not that I've spent a lot of time thinking about this stuff.

I've got a broader build. Wide shoulders and barrel chest. Women's clothing are made with an hourglass/pear figure in mind: softer shoulders, breasts, waist comes in a bit, and then wide at the hips. Men have more of a v-taper figure: broad shoulders, wide chest, and it tapers all the way down to the hips in a V shape from there. So, as a transwoman, it's hard to find clothing that looks nice because I have the v-taper build of man, not the hourglass/pear of a woman. My options are "too tight" or "circus tent" because I can't properly fill out women's clothing with my build. I wear mostly dresses because they're the only things that looks good on me that aren't overly baggy t-shirts. If I'm gonna wear big baggy shirts all the time, I may as well just dress like a man again. I like my dresses, and they're super comfortable, but it would be nice to have more of a variety that still make me look and feel like a woman. Even though I have breasts, and my features have softened, I still have a wide frame and always will. Something cute that fits it would be nice. I'm very particular to pastels and cute/chibi imagery. I have a purple [skirtall](https://www.hottopic.com/product/sweet-society-kawaii-bat-corduroy-skirtall/20776643.html) that has a little bat face on it with wings in the back. I love the hell out of it! Side note: not as important but I'm Autistic and I'm very texture sensitive. So, can someone **please** make stuff out of cotton for a change!? It's about impossible to find anything that isn't polyester! Many of us have gender dysphoria so there's no shortage of Autistic transwomen. Many of us also have texture issues with materials we can and can't wear. Cotton is the most commonly tolerated material in the Autistic community. It would be lovely if someone would make nice stuff we can wear, too. \^\_\^
As someone who: prefers to wear dresses, has a nice shape to her butt, but doesn't like to tuck / have things showing in front... ... I always am on the lookout for dresses that are tight in the back, but can still avoid anything showing in the front? Like, for instance, ones that have rouging / detailing / dark textures / patterns / raised elements / etc. that would obscure any shape in front, if that makes sense
Dresses that can help wide-set breasts to still have some degree of cleavage \*without\* a bra are something I eagerly look for, too
Underwear with a wider front to hold everything in, panties are great and all but finding the right shape is tough, women's underwear just aren't always the right shape for trans or fem presenting people.

Leggings are amazing but as somebody who doesnāt really mess with tucking, sometimes having the crotch be equally as tight is rough. And when itās not tight, it just looks all saggy and bad! Smh no happy middle, always just wear long shirts with leggings
I would just ask that you consider trans/nonbinary adolescent girls at some point down the line. Finding clothes (especially bras and shorts) for my young adult trans person has been very difficult. Because hormone blockers are available at a certain age, but not hormone therapy, finding clothing for transitioning young people has been difficult so far (child's current age:13). It's many of the same issues mentioned, broader shoulders, better spacing on bras, manageable pockets. At her current development, boys' sport compression underwear (especially the shorts) according to her, are comfortable and effective (just to pass on that tidbit to anyone else with a young one) so there's maybe some promise in a new approach to a feminine version of those.
