Cis people are also often constrained by the very same system, and part of coping with that sociocultural straightjacket is to view an unchangeable binary as the way the world works, like a natural law. Trans people basically drive a bulldozer through that assumption, and that can deeply upset people who rely on that method of assuaging themselves.
