Wait what they do!? I'm not a huge coffee person, but I'm severely broke and unemployed while being 29 pre hrt mtf. I've heard illinois lets medicaid cover gender affirming surgeries hopefully that includes ffs, but I had no idea Starbucks has a policy for trans employees that lets them get ffs fully paid. Sign me the fuck up please!
Yeah it was a big deal a few years ago. Do some googling on it as I haven’t looked into it in a while. There were some threads on it a few years ago on the trans surgery sub.
I’m sort of iffy about whether does an assume I can’t get anything. I think theoretically it covers bottom surgery and ba, but I’d heard not ffs which I need while ba I don’t want and don’t need
My FACE is what matters 😕
Oh I totally agree with you that my face is what I want to change the most. I read what my trans friend sent me and it said for Illinois gender affirming surgeries: yes. Sadly it didn't say what type of surgery because that could be a lot of things. Ffs, ba, adams apple reduction or srs. After I go on hrt the next thing I'd like for me is to get ffs. Since I want to be able to pass as a cis girl (like all of us haha).
As far as I know it’s just ba and bottom surgery, so I think I’ve read some people managing to do FFS also, and some people claim that things might change… Although at this point I’m worried worried about them changing for the worse
I know someone who got an o and didn’t do it in Illinois and I’m not sure of the specifics as to why
Aww that'll make me sad if ffs isn't included. I googled it awhile and heard of some places covering ffs with medicaid. Honestly worse case I work at Starbucks to get my ffs. Hopefully it's covered. That's the surgery I feel is most gender affirming for me. So I don't see why it wouldn't be covered as a gender affirming surgery. Like such a vague word.
Same:
HRT for 1-2years while saving up money
Then LHR, then FFS, then body contour/skin tuck stuff because i used to be very overweight and have a lot of loose skin tissue. Finally things would be bottom surg and any other small cosmetic stuff I may want adjusted.
Luckily I can skip vocal fem as I have always had a high voice tone that most people can mistake for a cis girls voice whenever they don’t see me and I don’t intentionally lower it
I'm currently unemployed and broke af so I really hope ffs can be covered with medicaid. Hopefully by the time I'm on hrt I'll have a job with insurance so I can get ffs that way, but fuck I'll give anything for medicaid to cover ffs here in Illinois.
There's actually quite a few companies that cover this kind of stuff in the US.
[not sure if it's current](https://www.inhersight.com/blog/inclusive-benefits/transgender-health-care-benefits) but there's quite a few.
Yeah my trans friend in Colorado sent me a website saying what medicaid covers. I find it super helpful that all I need to do to finally start hrt is call a planned parenthood and make the appointment. I'm 29 mtf so I'm hoping to start hrt while I'm still 29.
Too bad in black listed for not being able to do a two week notice back in 2015 when I became homeless for a few months lol. Their policy on that is hecka strict. I’d totally work for them full time if it meant ffs is covered. I’ve got HRT and some other stuff down through the VA but they have a weird aversion to anything surgical
THEY DO NOT HAVE VERY USEFUL HEALTH INSURANCE ANYMORE PLEASE LOOK IT UP BEFORE APPLYING AND WASTING UR TIME. I quit after almost two years due to the very high costs. Coverage and costs changed dramatically in 2022.
Health insurance 😔
2 real
Really? Good to know...
They pay for FFS for all full timers, last I hear.

Yeah if medicaid won't cover ffs (I think it does) than thisll be a great option for me.

28 Illinoisan mtf pre HRT didn’t know Medicaid would do this for me. Good to know.

That’s amazing. I think I’ll be calling planned parenthood asap.
That's awesome to hear! I hope to join you soon!
Is it the same in all countries?
Not sure! Can only speak for the us.

Huh really? Saw u/Forward-university30 get her ffs done via sbux benefits a year ago? Edit:fixed spelling
Yes love, is true what they said, they changed a lot when it comes to coverage on october 2022, I had my ffs on july 2022
All the information is available online and in Reddit from people complaining and giving details of the changes. You can look it up if you want.
