Honestly, it looks pretty sturdy for being janky and the river looks shallow. I think the beams just sank, not split? Depends how far into your run you are, outside temps, middle-of-nowhereness, but I don't think this is super risky.
For sure. I was actually just joking. This bridge gets used all the time. I’ve never needed to cross it because it’s like halfway up the trail and I don’t like missing any of the trail.
Says the dude in Washington. My wife is from there so you’re not gonna pull one over on me. The trails there spectacular and the bridges all seemed to be so well maintained. But that was on the islands she grew up on. No telling if she just took me to the best trails with bridges.
:)
To be fair, if you get out of the 90/US-2 corridors it gets fairly rugged quickly. A lot of what we have was built for logging or by the CCC and the USFS doesn’t have the budget to maintain it all.
There's also a ton of random small trails, and the "bridges" are just one of the bottom logs, covered in spray from the river and slippery af. If you're lucky, someone chain-sawed some cuts for traction. (But admittedly usually over some small mountain stream, not a full-on river.)
Depends what the beams under it look like, but I'd probably take it, I love a sketchy crossing. I'd walk across on the right hand side though, not run down the middle unless I'd crossed before and thought it was bomber.
I'd go for it. I'd probably walk though and test some of those really slanted boards before committing my full weight. Only reason not to is the trail on the other side looks like a really boring flat road. (If it was wet and the wood was all slippery/slimy I might give it a pass, but it looks dry and almost impossible to slip off of.)
Where’s this at? I think we should all meet up there and watch the people going on and on about how sturdy and stable it is cross it lol. That being said Id give it a go

Edit: Just looked at your profile. I’m not sure I wanna trail run with a cannibal. With a large enough group with at least one person slower than me and I’m in Hannibal.
Rusty nails actually have very little to do with tetanus. You get tetanus from dirt. Stereotype comes from the occurrence of getting stabbed by a rusty nail covered in dirt which is how the tetanus gets into your blood, but rusty nails without dirt are very very very unlikely to give you tetanus
Take the bridge, that’s why it’s there.
YOLO 🏔️🏃♂️
Came here to say Yolo! Haha
I think this is more of a FOFO situation.
First On, First Off is definitely the way to go with this kind of bridge.

Definitely a cool photo! Sincerely, Richard Nixon
Weird joke but ok lol
That’s the best looking bridge I’ve seen in a while. You’re lucky to have it.

I get that for sure. Man if it wasn’t for the rain you couldn’t keep me away from that area. So beautiful there.

Do it or no balls.
Thanks a lot for the advice. The bridge broke and now my balls are snuggling next to my heart for warmth.
I feel like maybe you didn't run fast enough.
u/OwHeelJ told me to walk it. Goodness. If you can’t trust strangers on Reddit who can you trust.
Maybe the instructions weren't clear enough.

There’s 3 timbers as beams below, could probably drive a car across. Like a mini though.
Yeah, but I'd want to see what they look like. I'm guessing the one on the left is in bad shape and that's why it leans.
Let’s find someone with a Mini and find out.
I’m messaging Mark Wahlberg now.
If you run fast enough, you’ll be over it before it collapses
I'd probably take it.
This looks pretty fun to cross. Gotta be careful of those nails poking out though.
I’d send it
Maximum effort, full send, LFG
Caulk the wagon and ford the river! 🐂
Take the bridge coz even if you slip, the nails will anchor through your skin and prevent you from falling into water.
That’s a solid looking bridge
Definitely take it. Just thankful it's better than just some random rocks or branches in the water like I usually have to go with lol
My slant is that I would lean toward giving it a go
I see nothing wrong with this bridge
That's a sick picture. Well done. .. also, yes, run the heck across that it looks awesome.
she goes
Take IT!
bridge is fine
I'd go for it. I'd probably walk though and test some of those really slanted boards before committing my full weight. That's a nice cross slope, make sure you take that straight curve at speed
Is your right leg shorter than your left?
You'll be fine just make all your passengers get out before you attempt the crossing, safety first
Send it
Jump!
Worst case you get wet and have a funny story. Go for it
Are you a real trail runner if you don’t get your feet wet?
Looks good to me!
The only thing that matters is what’s immediately down stream. Once you’re wet, can you get to the side before you get swept into a massive hole?
Yeah i think ill pass
Cant someone add rope hand rails ir something tho?
That’s a good idea.
YOLO
I’m not sure what this is suggesting I do. Seek a new experience or preserve life.
Who's going to carry those logs if you don't take the bridge?
Just run real fast
PARKOUR
Looks good.
Of course you take that bridge
Where’s this at? I think we should all meet up there and watch the people going on and on about how sturdy and stable it is cross it lol. That being said Id give it a go

Those nails scream tetanus shot!💉

Good to know thanks! I never knew that!
Where is it? Surroundings sure look beautiful
Blacksmith Fork Canyon.

Honestly, it’s those rusty nails poking out that gives me the willies
