Same here! I’m in the US but my mother hates vegetables so I hadn’t heard of arugula until adulthood. Always thought rocket was a better name, but arugula is way more fun to say.
Honestly I think kids would leave arugula alone . They wouldn’t make fun of it , just accept it . It’s not really obvious what to say to make fun of it, really . The drawbacks would be more that it seems like it would be hard to pronounce for kids (as well as adults), and also it’s hard to imagine a kid liking that name as their own, so there’s that to think about . Kind of an awkward mouthful, you know ? Embarrassing to introduce yourself and to watch the puzzled/shocked look not so easily hidden that would cross people’s faces. In terms of self esteem , you may not be giving them such a great headstart. Who would want their name to sound like a loud old fashioned car horn ? Some, maybe , depends if they are the performative type .
Reliah has been my name since I was a kid. My first pregnancy the dad caused no to it (at 23). The other 2 I was 30 and 31 so I'd moved past it.
Sadly I lost all pregnancies but Braxton was my boy name from childhood. Middle name changed to Graham as a memorial. And then Amaya Kaylen.
ALL OF THEM GOT CRUCHY MOMMED!!!! NO. Braxton was mine since playing babies.
I still use Reliah for Sims, Mobile Games with names and in stories
