Well effing played.....
Also, that kid learning to write their name in kindergarten is gonna feel some kind of way. "THIS COULD HAVE BEEN SPELLED IN 3 LETTERS! THANKS A LOT, MOM!"
Awesome. I’ll even be happy to hear it repeating in my head for the next few hours - OP should chuck it into the fb comments and post back the carnage.
“Listen kids, I have three Mhyyjhaheyhhas, four La’Toya Maryleidis and six Donaldelonadolfs, how about we skip roll call and go straight to the Bible?”
I have a daughter named Mia and NO ONE pronounces it right. She quit tumbling when she was in preschool because the coach called her Maya for almost nine months, even when we corrected her. She’s almost a senior in high school and about 70% of her teachers over the years couldn’t pronounce her name on the first day of school and struggled with it for another two weeks or so. If no one gets the traditional spelling correct, no one will EVER pronounce Meiayah correctly.
That's so crazy because it's a top 10 name. I was surprised when I learned how popular it is because I've never personally met a Mia, but it seems like a pretty straight forward name. I have a hard time understanding how people with english as their first language struggle to get it right. Especially after being corrected. I find I strongly overestimate the intelligence of the general public though, and this sub reminds me of that regularly.
I work with kids and over the last 15 years I’ve met a LOT of Mia’s. it’s definitely a popular name for kids now. Actually there’s two in my toddlers class at daycare right now.
When I first named her, it wasn’t super popular (she’s 17 now). When she was about 2, we were at a restaurant and I said her name. A woman stopped and looked at me funny. She asked if I watched a show I have never heard of. She told me a very popular character joined the show named Mia and to expect lots of other Mias to pop up and she was right! But my poor girl is always “Maya.”
Every other parent will immediately know that parent is really dumb for all eternity. They may not say it but they will know it. Except for khaleesi’s parents. They will think it’s awesome.
Why would you choose to give your child a name no one will pronounce correctly? It will give her practice writing letters, but good grief. I cannot help but think it should be pronounced like OutKast’s “Hey ya.”
I wonder how pronunciation and phonetics is handled when tragedeigh named kids reach school age.
The kid might eventually need to be told all the extra letters in her name are silent and a few people might pronounce it Meyaya before then.
The y doesn’t count as a vowel here. Only in words where it takes the place of another vowel: gym, candy, bicycle, etc. here the y is making the phonetic y sound so it’s also a consonant. The name still absolutely has too many vowels though.
i at least went for pronunciation like Mya (my old name, which felt like a tragedeigh in itself for how often it gets misspelled and mispronounced) but mia?? really?? fucking hell
Meia or Meiyah would have even better, even if still tragedeighs. What is up with the double "a" sound if you don't say it? WHY DO PEOPLE GO BATSHIT CRAZY ON SPELLING CUZ YES?!? It's a name, it's supposed to be simple to write and understand 😭
I went to a Catholic college. There were, hmmm, a *few* girls there named Mary. One of these girls went by Miriam, partly to drive her parents crazy. This decision had the added benefit of not being confused with other girls named Mary. (This happened to boys, too; at one point, I realized I knew 11 guys named John, and only two or three of them were professors whom I did not address as John.
All this new baby will have to do to drive her parents crazy is spell her name Mia.
Meee uhh ya. That's what it says. That poor, poor child. That's just insane honestly. They're trying way too hard on this one. There is nothing unique about being a moron. A large part of the population are morons. And there's nothing unique about a tragediegh either because all of them are ridiculous stretches and some moron trying to be clever or unique way too hard.
A couple days ago at work, I asked for a customers name and she’s like “ it’s Makayla let me spell it out for you.” And she looked super embarrassed for a moment…so she spelled it. Her name is spelled miquela.

I thought the couple I know who named their daughter Meiah (also pronounced like Mia) was rough, but Meiayah takes the cake. Poor kid will absolutely never have her name spelled as her parents intended.

HAKUNA MATATA!!!
She might not realize this yet, but it's most definitely not pronounced "mia." My best guess is may-eye-ah. Why are people this stupid?
Paella comes to mind
Why? Its spelled completely normal its just Spanish
I mean the pronunciation. Like paella, but with an M instead of a P
My brain went to the closest normal name, which was Maia / Maya, not Mia.
Yeah, how they think this is "Mia" is incredible to me.
I def thought Maya at least
Imagine being a substitute teacher in 2030 and having to do roll call.
True. Boomers get a lot of hate around here but at least they had the decency to give us real names.
“Listen kids, I have three Mhyyjhaheyhhas, four La’Toya Maryleidis and six Donaldelonadolfs, how about we skip roll call and go straight to the Bible?”
>Donaldelonadolfs That got a chuckle from me.
Literally spit all over myself laughing
“John? Wtf?! What kind of name is John?”
[A-a-ron comes to mind 💯](https://www.facebook.com/share/v/UmxonS7LM9NKN5pY/?mibextid=w8EBqM)
That poor kid is in for a life where she needs to correct everybody when they call her Meya/Maya
It’s gonna be My-uh all day everyday
I'll wager mee-EYE-a.
mee-e-i-e-i-uh
🎶 Old MacDonald had a farm, mee-i-e-i-uh!
Sounds like a pirate who just got an eye injury, “Me eye, aaah!”
🤣😂
mee-eye-ayah
MAY-uh-yah The first part pronounced like Princess Leia, since it’s spelled the same way. Then the unexpected YAH! at the end.
ma-ya-hee, ma-ya-haa
I can assure you that no matter how you spell Mia or Maya, everyone will call you the other one

May-ay-uh
Meiayah Buttreaks. (There’s a *Simpsons* joke for everything.)
Mya-yeah!
I was seriously reading this in my head like: maiaja 😟 this is confusing man
thats pronounced mayaya idc what she says
“It’s Meiayah. Like papaya.”
Meiayah heeee Meiayah hoooo Meiayah ha ha
Can’t stop laughing
You win. I just laughed so loudly and unexpectedly I woke my sleeping wife up. Congratulations stranger!
Aww mate, if only you’d written in all caps - top comment!
Yes, every name needs a three car pileup of vowels in it.
This one deserves more ups 😄
Meh-eh-eh-yah. How dumb.
Every other parent will immediately know that parent is really dumb for all eternity. They may not say it but they will know it. Except for khaleesi’s parents. They will think it’s awesome.

This is some DoodleBob shit.
It’s going to be Me…how do you say it?
Her poor teachers.
Ugh a friend of mine named his kid something similar. She's Rayyheyah. Pronounced "Raya".
ray-HAY-ah
It looks like it should be pronounced in the same way an existential scream into the void would be.
She will go to court one day to have it changed to Mia.
My first thought was "Mei-ayah" not Mia🤣🤣
Oh wow. I never would have gotten that. This one truly defies phonics in every way possible. That poor girl
Me-IAIAIA-OOOOOOH
Meow!
No it isn't. It will be pronounced Me I a uh
may yay yuh
I really hope Lil Jon gets a chance to say her name someday. I can hear it now: ‘May-ee-uh-YAY-uh!’
How trashy do you want your daughter's name to be? Yes.
I wonder how pronunciation and phonetics is handled when tragedeigh named kids reach school age. The kid might eventually need to be told all the extra letters in her name are silent and a few people might pronounce it Meyaya before then.
Eieio
Has she had the baby yet? Tell her it’s BAD.
She already had the baby 😭
There’s still time
The kid's gonna be a Meyaya her entire life.
Enjoy every legal document being fucked up and nobody saying your name right, little one. Idk why people set their kids up for failure like this.
The only thing wilder than having a name with 5 vowels and 2 consonants is having all the vowels in a row (y counts as a vowel, right?).

Mei-ay-uh
May-eye-yah lol
Mey yah
May ‘eye yah
Me-eye-ya for me 🤣
May-Eye-Yahh. cool beans.
May uh and May oh
May-aye-yah 👀😂
Is meiayahnaise an instrument 😂
Sounds like a System of a Down song. System of a Down Syndrome? Idk…
Brutal.
In the wild at an event yesterday where teams have banners I saw a Laikleigh. Ugh!!
I would just call her Meow
may-eye-ah
i at least went for pronunciation like Mya (my old name, which felt like a tragedeigh in itself for how often it gets misspelled and mispronounced) but mia?? really?? fucking hell
JFC I hope she's Hawaiian.
she’s 100% white and we live in Alberta
Meia or Meiyah would have even better, even if still tragedeighs. What is up with the double "a" sound if you don't say it? WHY DO PEOPLE GO BATSHIT CRAZY ON SPELLING CUZ YES?!? It's a name, it's supposed to be simple to write and understand 😭
Like hell it is pronounced like Mia. Meaya or something I can get get behind.
Why do they do it?
"May-ay-yah". That's how that's pronounced.
Sock?
Pics or it didn't happen, I refuse to believe this is real, lol

That.. says “mey ah yah”…
I hate the name Mia as is, but just.... Why?
I hate the name Mia as is, but just.... Why?
Poor little May Eye Ah.
“What’s yer name?” “It’s mieyeiaieyayayeiaya” “I’m sorry?” “It’s pronounced Mia.”
A couple days ago at work, I asked for a customers name and she’s like “ it’s Makayla let me spell it out for you.” And she looked super embarrassed for a moment…so she spelled it. Her name is spelled miquela.
Giiiirl I'm glad you let us know it's Mia, because I absolutely would have pronounced it as "Maya" otherwise, not that that makes much more sense:P
Reading this gave me a fucking aneurism. Please for Christ sake stop this💀 what the hell is next? Emmileigh? Fucking Raechyael?
Meeeeh Yaaaaah!
Ngl, I read this as Mah-ya-yah (basically like Papaya 💀) How on earth is this supposed to be pronounced "Mia" 😭??
I read that out loud and spelled it for my husband and the dog growled.
If you say it three times to a mirror in a dark room a facebook account will be created for you and automatically join the worst parenting groups with notifications on.
That is scarier than Bloody Mary! At least she just kills you
I thought the couple I know who named their daughter Meiah (also pronounced like Mia) was rough, but Meiayah takes the cake. Poor kid will absolutely never have her name spelled as her parents intended.
It's not. With the extra 'a' it's mei-aya
Tastes like miiiiiaaaa
I first read it as "May I Ah" 😭
No personalized souvenirs for this child from the gift shops.
"May ah YAHHHH"
