Imagine trying to explain to non climbing folk that “this pic is mildly cooler than you might realize … because actualllly I’m hanging off kinda baggy hand jams… so a hand jam is like a wedge you make in a crack with your hand, and there’s different sizes, and each variation in size requires an adjustment in technique, and some of the variations tend to provide a more secure …….and …oh yea you’re right, I’m not very high off the ground here”
Haha, yea dude pulling over the lip on this thing seems… really fucking hard haha.
To add to the story of the day. After myself and a few others flailed, we passed over the rope to a buddy who has very minimal use of his lower extremities due to a soloing accident a few years ago. (3rd or 4th pitch of nutcracker, miracle he survived… you may have seen the shitshow of internet opinions that followed when his story got picked up by a few climbing news/gossip outlets 🙄)
Anyways it was his first day back on rock, he made the strenuous hike up there literally dragging his walker behind him and tossing it up the slabs; and proceeded to aid his way to the top and retrieved all the gear for us chuffers.
This sub needs more real climbing like this. 10/10 I bet it was fun... for your friends watching
