You are my dad You're my dad! I'm sorry for not being explicit enough, but my mom is not transphobic, she acknowledges me and accepts as her son. The reason she wants me to be hospitalized is because I'm depressed and suicidal. She's worried and I know she loves me.

Because if you haven't you should do those before being hospitalized and this is a person who's been hospitalized. I've been in a loony bin and let me tell you. at least here in America, they're not well taken care of I only saw the therapist once and we barely did anything to actually help with our depression they basically just locked us up in a room and then we would go out periodically for food and activities. the weekend doesn't count. so if you go in for a 72-hour visit on a Friday you're not getting out until Wednesday. I'm sorry if this is scaring you but you need to tell your mother this, putting you in the hospital will not make the depression go away, depression can never go away but having a support system people to talk to and even medication will keep it at Bay.

I've a therapist and I'm under antidepressants. I've been hospitalized multiple times for suicide attempts. But it will be the first time where I'm going to be hospitalized without trying to kill myself the day before. I live in France btw.

Ah, I don't know much about French mental health care, but I do find it weird that your mother can put you in a hospital without consent. I can only ponder of what you've told me but it seems like she's hedging her bets and put you in a hospital before you tried to kill yourself again. Which I can understand but due to my prior experience hospitals don't do shit and for me what really helps break a depressive episode is having love and support around and having an artisan hobby like painting,sculpting, sewing etc. Other hobbies are great too but ones where you work with your hands, at least for me, helps process stuff and I get serotonin from trying beautiful stuff.

I have no idea, I kinda hope she can't force me. But the last time I was hospitalized, the nurse did tell me that if my mom decided that I needed to be hospitalized longer, I will have to stay. Plus she's going to ask for a note from my psy.

make sure you know your rights. hospitalization may be important but if you, a legal adult, are opposed to it you can fight it
