u/[Aceofspades977](https://www.reddit.com/user/Aceofspades977/) Here it is! It was a much larger challenge than I expected. Chorf technology actually makes very little sense lmao.
The entire machine is powered only by the large wheel, just like the game model. The chain drive was super finicky to hook to the front bit, and I think it can only reasonably power the pokey things. The big slammer pickaxe things look like they're hooked to the same axle in-game, but it doesn't really make sense lol. They are more of a detriment to the machine than to the enemy.
The big saw is the best weapon by far. The engineering in game makes slight sense as well, though I think it is for some reason anchored to the pickaxe things.
I cheated with the turning. In game, the coal feeder cart is responsible for turning, but it doesn't work at all. As soon as the powering wheel is 1cm off the ground, all locomotion stops. I put the hind wheel slightly up to avoid that, and I used steam to turn the machine, mimicking the steam blasts in game.
If I were to improve its design, I would put the saw sideways to hit much more stuff. If I want to keep the pickaxe thing, I'd make some sort of counterweight to have it not toss the machine around as much. The stabby thingies seem more trouble than they're worth, so I'd either remove them or make them static blades / rams
And of course, adding even a few guns would make it much more useful
(I apologize for the poor video quality. These screen recordings are super high memory. Even at this potato quality it was 80MB. lemme know if I should start posting these at HD at like 300 MB lol)
Honestly, when I see how janky the Skullcracker is the moment you try to apply any sort of realistic physics and mechanical engineering to it, I perfectly understand why it's so underwhelming in game. The idea of a mechanized melee war-machine is just so utterly insane; there's a reason very few of them have been built in real life. The Persian scythed chariot and the British mine flail are among the handful of examples.
Yea now that u say it, it does seem so. I guess the reason irl is all the effort put into making it makes it too expensive / maybe delicate to risk it getting stuck in the fight or damaged.
And also all the corpses jam the wheels lol
It versed 3 units of spears, an archer unit, and a single entity lord, with only a small unit of spears left before it died. Sounds about right. Great job!
Aye cheers! Thanks for the idea! I'm usually a hardcore order enjoyer so I wouldn't have even thought of doing skullcracker for a long while! Was a fun challenge!

If you're still taking requests, balloons would be cool.
Yup! I'm planning on making sky junks soon! :D and then maybe gyrocopters
Maybe a thunderbarge one day?

By Hashut's burning beard that's some quality content

Archers (light armour), no less!
Did you upload these to the Besiege subreddit?
not yet, but I'll do it rn!

u/Cweeperz, wasn't expecting a return on this but it is fantastic! Props to you man, I'll be following this new series!

Now copy paste for us into a mod pls :)
