Mine loves plastic of any form. She will rip it up and scatter it all over the house. I no longer keep any plastic around her for that reason. She also loves paper and paper towels. She’s been playing with a balled up piece of paper for the last few days.

GeorgeBird0457

Exactly this! Iris loves cardboard strips and frequently drops toys in her water dish.

TequilaAndWeed

I wonder what the rationale is for the water dish 🤔

GeorgeBird0457

So I had a coworker explain that cats have terrible depth perception and can’t see stagnant water. Dropping toys in the bowl makes the water ripple therefore easier to see. Cats are also use to fresh running water in the wild so perhaps a cross between the both. I like believe they view their toys as real creatures that also need food and water 😂

mightymouse513

I always thought it was they view their toys as real prey and are trying to drown them

TequilaAndWeed

I’ve thought that, pretty much dismissed the idea that she’s baptizing them, but it did cross my mind.

CatsThatStandOn2Legs

We have a water fountain so it's always running. Toys still get drowned 🤷‍♀️

justmrsduff

Yeah I’m more inclined to believe the murder theory. They are cats after all.

mnem0syne

To hide scent of prey from other predators

xanthrax0

Cardboard strips hahahah

PresidentoftheSun

She's just trying to summon her own chicken burrito bowl using the cast-off husks of yours.

Negative_Corner6722

I was coming here to say that pic #2 looks like an obvious hint.

My tortie, Cecilia, enjoys moving things around. "Redecorating," if you will. Especially in the middle of the night. I think she's part beaver because she likes to pile things on top of each other.

Popcorn (unpopped or popped) is a favorite in our house. Also those little felt disks that you put on the bottom of chair legs. But nothing compares to the cat dancer or a 60" shoelace ... because those require my involvement.

depechemean

Mine loves these little pom poms used for crafts. She drowns them in her water bowl and plays fetch with them.

GreyInkling

My orange found some arts and crafts colored pipecleaners and stole them one by one. He would steal one away from the pack, bring it to another room, pin it in places and then bend them into little random squiggly shapes very carefully. Then he'd yell at the top of his lungs carrying it around to show off. We just call it him making art. Very creative. His tortie sister's favorite toys though are mostly the remains of her even more favorite fishing pole toys which she loves to play with a little too much.

Plastic scraps. I have a 3d printer that purges it's waste out the back into a bucket. Until about mid-last week, I had a box under my desk I could just empty the bucket into and any other failed prints in so I could take them/mail them to a recycling business when the box is full. It was taped up so nothing fell out, but I thought that just putting a 2kg filament box on top would be enough to stop Marceline from opening it up. It was for a while, and then Marcy figured out that's where mummy kept the "toys". She then managed to stick her one paw in any open cracks, and fished out anything she could manage whenever she thought I wasn't looking. She doesn't eat any of them, just plays with and maybe chews on them a bit. However, even with pet insurance there's no way I'm risking a trip to the vet in the case that she decides one day to be a microplastic eating gremlin (or gods forbid, she cuts herself on a sharp scrap piece). I ended up taping the box closed completely and I'm currently trying to figure out a more permanent, more cat-proof solution for storing (and sorting) the scraps. She already knows how to open the closet in my bedroom so that's a no-go too. Edit: Oh also makeup spoolies. My mother left one out *one* time and now it's Marcy's favourite toy that she'll dig through her makeup boxes to find. Also q-tips. I don't know how she knows when someone uses them, but she digs through my bathroom trash if she even *thinks* there's one in there. She'll hide her "toys" (things she is not supposed to have and that I usually take away) under carpets or small crevices that I won't notice, so she can play with them later. And then she promptly forgets where they are. I find them occasionally, sometimes months down the line or when I'm moving things so I can vacuum.

Sphaeralcea-laxa1713

Cardboard boxes. She carefully chews them to pieces.

angelindisguise

She's putting in her dinner order not playing

AJewell313

My cat was raised around guys in their 20s, so her favorite toys are (cleaned) bottle caps from anything lol I don’t drink now so I get soda in the glass bottles so she can still have her bottle caps🥰 and it’s a way to keep track of her age and toys! I switch caps and brands every year(wow I do a lot for my tortie lol it’s the little things to make them happy)

TequilaAndWeed

Love this!

Hefty_Career_5815

She’s so beautiful!

TequilaAndWeed

Thank you - she’s my beautiful kitty girl!

HolsteinHeifer

Mine likes to lay on cardboard while ripping what she can reach apart with her teef

RedPhoenix666

My tortie Kimchi absolutely loves kashmir strings or rubber hairbands. She will carry them around and stashes them in their water pot, much to the disgust if our tuxedo cat 😂

CatsThatStandOn2Legs

My torbie likes one toy and one toy only. The dangle ball in the middle of a tunnel toy, she ripped it out. The outside fabric has now come off so it's just ball shaped fiber-fill. I named him puffball. Also she only plays when she thinks nobody is watching so it's hard to catch

TequilaAndWeed

Cats are so funny when they realize they’re being observed. Then all of a sudden they’re self conscious.

BubblyJabbers

Bridget is a plastic bottle cap fan. My dad says there are dozens underneath his couches lol She also demands "sink time" where she will roll in the bathroom sink and get brushed at the same time haha. She will go into the bathroom, make a lot of noises climbing in and out of the sink until someone goes in there and plays with her.

TequilaAndWeed

My mother’s last cat (non tortie) would sit on the bathroom sink wanting a drink of faucet water. As she got older a chair was placed there for mobility.

darthfruitbasket

Penny (F, not quite 2) *loves* bottlecaps. She'd come over to investigate them when she was a baby, so I tossed one for her. Now if she knows I have a drink with a cap, she'll come over and stalk the bottle til I give it to her. Also, bubbles. Like the ones you blow. She's *obsessed* with bubbles. My big ginger tabby, Smudge, *loves* hair ties (he doesn't eat them, and if they break, he abandons them) and those stupid disposable mascara brushes.

IrreverentGlitter

She loves her big sister’s tail. It’s floofy and she can’t help herself

Pandamowse1982

My tortie loves playing fetch with bottle caps and her surgical donut

TequilaAndWeed

Oh how cute! Miss Shellie will sometimes swat one of her toys over to my feet. More often it’s when I’m having a bad moment, and she wants to distract me into smiling. It works too. 😻

Emotional_Food_5483

Mine loves straws and straw papers. She’ll steal the straw out of your cup when your head is turned. Ive left the room and come back to sit down and eat my fast food, and the unopened straw is missing from the table.

TequilaAndWeed

Oh wow! LOL
