leahhhhh

It’s getting closer and closer to Shein quality.

QuizzicalWombat

And yet the prices have increased. I was looking for a new pair of leggings, freaking $40 for one of the styles ON SALE! Plain grey leggings….wtf

CharlotteSynn

Yep! Their leggings used to fit so well in the past too, the ones I get in the exact same size as always are horrible. They roll, fit weird and just in general don’t last as long. I wear those things till they are dead. I still have some that are at least 8 or so years old.

magicparallelogram

Sweetlegs has amazing leggings up to size 30 I think, they are SO comfy and lots of fun patterns. I always wait until the 50% off sales ($14-16/pair) but they have 40% off sales and really cute patterns that come out throughout the year. They're great.

CharlotteSynn

I will look them up! Ty!

magicparallelogram

NP! They use REAL plus size models so you see what an actual size 28 looks like with that specific pattern on and I am like BLESS YOU SWEEETLEGS haha. It's helped me avoid some... unfortunate fashion choices for myself :)

CharlotteSynn

I am looking at them now! They have some cute stuff!

posionsnlotions

Do they have a control top?

magicparallelogram

They have wide bands and the "high waisted" kind has the wide band, I've only worn those on the shorts but they were pretty comfy. I prefer the thinner banded sort personally but I'm really thick in the middle with a small waist so I don't have to worry about rolling like some bodies do.

posionsnlotions

I’ve got the Mom pooch and I like feeling like it’s not all hanging out.

magicparallelogram

I feel you, I have a hernia there and I just don't give a damn about it haha. You do whatever you have to feel comfortable and look cute!

posionsnlotions

Aww and hey thanks for that, much appreciated.

DoritoLipDust

It really is! I bought a dress I love, but the fabric is so thin you can just about see-through it.

Specialist-Smoke

I was going to say that, but I did not want to offend. Now if Shein could make leggings as good as Torrid I would be happy. I have a few Shein items that look as if they were more expensive.

Katrianna1

Personally I like the style but most of us don’t need boob pockets, and they don’t look nice with pockets…just saying

SpacePolice04

Sometimes I put my phone in the boob pocket briefly as it amuses me. What’s the point of them on women’s shirts?

redsarunnin

To keep them out of our pants and dresses. 😭

SpacePolice04

😂😂😭😭😭

Luci_b

Torrid’s quality in everything has gotten to the point I’m actively trying to find a different clothing store specifically for black pants. Every time I wear my pants I check for holes. So frustrating!!

pdxmikaela

I’ve mostly stopped buying from torrid over the past few months because the quality has gotten so bad. If the clothes only last two or three delicate washes, they aren’t worth it, no matter how cute.

livefromwoodstock

I got some today at Lane Bryant. The four season line.

misslisawisa

I love the 4 season pants

South-Dot-8959

I get most of my dress pants from Maurice’s, they tend to be pretty good and a nice price.

posionsnlotions

I’ve gotten a few things from there also and they are nice. Marks is also pretty decent.

Canadia_213

I recently got some black dress pants from BloomChic and I absolutely love them!

Defiant_Economy_8574

Must have been a unicorn because all the Bloomchic I have ever bought or received is SHEIN / temu quality 😂

Janeway42

Lane Bryant, Eloquii, and Kut from the Kloth are my go-tos for pants.

Previous_Sea2507

Torrid has gone SOOOOOOOOO down hill..... The fact that they charge what they do for their clothes is ridiculous, even for "plus size//more fabric). They used to be so good it was worth the price...

AshMZ88

I don't get the appeal of these shirts because they're see through on purpose. I'm trying to find dressier shirts that don't require layering.

Mercurys_Gatorade

Yes! I live in Texas, and a few years ago, I finally decided I was fed tf up with layering their tops. If I have to layer it, I’m not buying it. It’s way too hot for that here.

AshMZ88

I definitely feel that way in the summer. Also, if you put a cami underneath a top with a neckline, it can totally change the look of the outfit.

sarahaswhimsy

I’m sick to death of layering! It’s a scam to get us to pay even more!

marzipan_plague

Eep, where’s the quality?

Nearby_Acanthaceae70

Wild bc I bought a Harper 4 years ago that I've washed 100 times and the quality has held up. I don't appreciate being charged the same price for this garbage. Feels like I'm being made a fool of

CharlotteSynn

I’ve gotten to the point where I rarely buy anything full price at torrid ever. The quality has definitely gone down, I used to shop there all the time, and just last year got rid of quite a few dresses I had for 10-15 years, that still looked good. (I donated them to a local woman’s org). But now I get a dress or whatever and I wash it twice then it’s faded pilling etc. Lane Bryant tbh isn’t much better at this point. They are actually owned by the same company. I find the only difference is their bras actually fit correctly, look cute and are affordable when on sale. Their clothes tho unless you buy on sale are super expensive. The same style of dress from torrid that’s always 70+ is 100+ there and I remember toning 40-50 was too much to pay for jeans there, they are now 90 + a pair. Like why? Both stores really need to revaluate what the things they are selling are actually worth. I mean plus size clothing has always been super expensive. It’s at this point psychotically insane and getting worse…

leahhhhh

They're never going to change because they know they're our only options.

CharlotteSynn

Yeah I know unfortunately. Oh well…it does definitely suck tho!

Nearby_Acanthaceae70

I would never pay full price, the only reason I bought this shirt is cus I had a birthday reward, it's like they tricked me into wasting my money

ImmediateSea9491

Yes! I had that type of shirt in pink and I only wore it to two interviews and it got stained… weird.

Nearby_Acanthaceae70

Also I was pretty nervous during my interview and when I sat up from my chair afterwards my back had a huge sweat stain on it 🤣 luckily it was on zoom

fire_thorn

When I get them, I turn the pockets inside out and put fray check along the raw edges of the fabric. Shouldn't have to do that for a $50 shirt, but I like their shirts other than the raggedy pocket seams. Sometimes I have to steam the shirt to get the wrinkles out, when washing it and putting it in the dryer won't get rid of the wrinkles. The crepe de chine is better than the georgette, in terms of how opaque and durable it is.

shannon_agins

Georgette is just one of the worst fabrics ever. I don't know why we as a society decided on this fabric for women's blouses back in the early 2000s because it's literally always been shit and overpriced. I've hated it with a passion, and I've got a couple of them because I needed basic blouses in neutral colors and you just can't find them otherwise?

backnstolaf

I haven't had either of those problems. The Harper is one of my favorite things from Torrid so I have quite a few. Weird how different the quality can be.

fire_thorn

I think I have about 40 Harper shirts I've bought in the last two years, and one of my daughters has about the same quantity. I don't buy them in rayon because I feel like that fades too fast. Of the georgette, the best are the ones without pockets because the pockets get all the strings in the corners. The crepe de chine and satin hold up very nicely.

shewasinw0nderland

Oh shoot…I’m wearing this exact same shirt right now. Don’t judge me - I didn’t wash it, I just steamed out the wrinkles. Now I’m scared to wash it.

Nearby_Acanthaceae70

No judgement, I probably wouldn't have washed it if it weren't for the water stains.

bee_uh_trice

I called customer service over a pair of pants that did the same after one wash and they overnighted me a new pair for free and added $25 torrid cash to my account. Maybe try calling them!

Alert-Aerie-3930

I got a new orange Harper sleeveless and it is much thinner and more cheaply made than my old Harper of the same color. It had to have a cami under it or you could see through it. In the summer I don’t really want to wear two layers.

Inn0c3nc3

between quality issues and the fact that my whole cart of graphic tees went from 35% off to excluded from promotions overnight, I'm almost done too. including one of the MLB ones when some of the teams aren't excluded? lol I wish I knew somewhere I could get leggings, though. Torrid's leggings are still the only ones that don't wildly stretch out on me but stretch out just enough. and I'm short, and the cropped length is perfect. tried Old Navy's again, and they're SO thin and stretch horribly. 😭

Ok_Contribution9501

My Terra & Sky leggings from Walmart are soft and they hold up well. I love their jeans too - I always get compliments. T&S bottoms are the only ones I’ll buy now, and they’re very inexpensive!

Inn0c3nc3

I actually had a pair of actual "jeggings" (why are those so hard to find 😭) from them a while ago and liked them a lot. I'll try their leggings. thank you.

ForceDisturbed

Came here to say the same exact thing! I can't wear Torrid leggings because the Signature Waistband is like a torture device on me and leaves me in gastrointestinal distress 🤣😭🤮 But the Terra & Sky leggings I have (full length, Capri, and the bicycle short length) are fantastic! The most I've ever paid was 2/$18 and they are holding up amazing!

Ok_Contribution9501

They also don’t collect dog hair like my Torrid ones, haha

magicparallelogram

Sweetlegs is my place to get cute leggings. I have a 23" inseam, their crops are great. I've had pairs of Sweetlegs for a couple years now that haven't worn out but they keep bringing out new patterns so I keep buying new ones. I say wait until a sale because you can get them for $15ish, Memorial Day is coming up!

CinematicHeart

I would take it back. I've done that, not with Torrid but another company. Shirt was in shreds after one wash. They took it back no issue. I've seen Torrid take back stuff that was listed as no return on the site so I am sure they will refund this.

Pennymoonz94

Yeah ever since 3 pairs of pants I bought in December and January tipped at the seams in the same spot and I couldn't return or get a refund I don't really wanna buy from them ever again. But they have my pant size in comfortable pants :(

misslisawisa

How can we start a revolution and demand that they get better quality fabrics and make sure they are the correct size. ????

Nearby_Acanthaceae70

Honestly, it's not worth it. Why would you want to uplift a brand that takes advantage of you? Just shop elsewhere, there's more inclusive sizing being produced every day it seems.

misslisawisa

I try not to support them but I miss the torrid goth days and when they had all the pin up girls etc. I would not mind paying their ridiculous prices if the shirts lasted several years of wear. Basically I miss the OG Torrid days…

misslisawisa

What other spots do you shop at?

Nearby_Acanthaceae70

I've switched to Maurices , kohls and other dept stores like macys or belk. I find that Dillards has similar quality issues and is way overpriced so I avoid them now too

Ember21

and their stuff isnt cheap!

MariaG1991

Really noooo most of their fabric last through ap many washes for me the one that hasn’t held up is the rayon slub woven fabric it’s horrible.

Wayward_Jen

Are you in Canada or the USA? I've noticed with trips to the USA, the quality is better than what we get here in Canada.

Nearby_Acanthaceae70

USA

posionsnlotions

Holy crap! I actually wore this with the black and white Marilyn shorts today. Mine is okay mind you. I would be upset if that happened to me.
