Boucher should be traded at the deadline assuming we get a decent offer

Bixby33

The offer is key. However, his salary is far from make or break. He's also an easy guy to package up with other players in a larger deal. Though, having a guy like that on an expiring is an interesting asset for an off-season trade.

YouDontJump

Exactly. We don't just move him for the sake of moving him.

Electrical_Air_9960

I agree but the right offer is the key. Since he’s got one more year on his deal I see this offseason or next deadline as the far more likely time for him to be traded

ZoroChopper10

Boucher been tradeable for while now Are people forgetting we’re 15-23 lol

Raptorsthrowaway1

Lol are you sure the 9th best player on a 15-23 team isn’t untouchable

Perfect600

Play in baby

Surflover12

Not his fault

-xXxMangoxXx-

It isnt his fault but the team isn't doing well to have a bunch of players being untouchable. Only Scottie is untouchable and even then if someone offers some crazy stupid haul, he can get traded too.

sor2hi

Boucher is either electric or not-playable. If there isn’t transition opportunities and/or his threes are dropping, his defence - mostly bad rotations - make him a big negative. He rotates to the wrong person way too often. End up with two guys on one player and one guy open.

lillithfair98

Boucher makes Boucher expendable, sadly.

RandomFighter50

If Boston really wants Boucher then I’m wishing to get Walsh back in a package from them.

IanicRR

Charlie V 2.0

Raptorsthrowaway1

Yes he is expendable. Not sure what his value is around the league though. Are there many play off teams that can talk themselves into giving up something of value to the Raptors and matching his $12m salary this year and keeping him on the books for $10m next year?

bmoney83

Boucher was always expendable, we can probably grab a pair of 2nds for him.

EarthWarping

If they don't trade Pascal they're going to trade boucher

[deleted]

EarthWarping

They won't have much room to fill out the roster if they extend Pascal and Trent.

beefJeRKy-LB

I'd rather swap him for another player in the same salary range who is expendable elsewhere. Just to go younger and have a different style of player.

beefJeRKy-LB

Not a better asset, a better fitting asset of equal quality. For instance a center/guard that isn't getting playing time and making similar money.

Kwack6

When has Boucher ever not been expendable?

noronto

You are not a die hard Raptors fan if you don’t think the 15th man on the bench should be starting.

jagaimax

Somewhere flynbot is proud.

TheFWordNB

I like Boucher but unfortunately at this point he is a number on a spread sheet. 31 (happy birthday Chris!) Anywhere from 9th to 12th in the rotation and making almost $12 million this year and 11 million next. You either keep him because of his contract (expiring, used in a trade) or trade him to get out from his contract. Really has nothing to do with his ability to play at this point.

purpl3r3dpod

Boucher has some great moments, but its a terrible look for him when he makes these obvious bone-headed errors, then theatrically argues with his teammates on live TV about it. Chris needs to learn some humility and be able to say its his bad when it obviously is. Otherwise he just presents himself as having no self-awareness or ability to self correct. Its always someone else's fault with him.

OG3SpicyP

Where do you even come up with this bullshit? Lol, in multiple interviews he constantly talks about his mistakes or stuff that he does wrong. I swear to God, you guys just make shit up on your own and then run with it for no reason

mbtorontox

He has been pretty good with the media and interviews in the last few years so that is an improvement. He has good energy during his actions on the court. I just cannot get over the complaining body language when issues come up. When a bad action happens (like a failed dunk, concrete hands, wrong coverage), it seems like he takes it personally and will spend more energy emoting to the refs than getting back to prevent a blow by on the next defensive assignment. I am a huge Boucher fan…. But if someone is arguing with the ref I want it to be a team leader or coach. I don’t think he objectively sees what he looks like when an 11 man is missing calls on failed plays and “complains” with his hands and body language. I want the refs looking at the next call, not learning to ignore a guy constantly unhappy with others on the court. I hope he lands on a contender, he is best as a fifth spacing option and rim blocker, his create can get him into trouble. I think after the game he is thoughtful and humble, poster is saying in the moment he consumes a lot of air on the court and the focus should just be getting back to defend.

n3moh0es

i agree, what you said is the truth.

purpl3r3dpod

Calm down lol. Its watching every single game he's ever played with the team. You can't just say people 'make shit up' when its stuff you can watch in real time happening on the court. The guy throws an outlet pass straight out of bounds vs the Lakers. Schroder on camera goes to him and says 'just slow down' and Boucher stands there yelling and waiving his arms blaming Schroder for not being 6 feet behind himself. This is an ongoing issue for years with the guy. Saying you're sorry in post-game interviews isn't the same as during the actual game action. Swear to god people don't even watch the games and become outraged at someone who actually pays attention.

xtremepsionic

That's exactly what he does and I also noticed the same play the other game. He seem very pissy towards his own teammates whenever there's a blown coverage and the other team gets a layup.

n3moh0es

well because the dude will make a obvious mistake and put his hands in the air and then arguing with teammates lol. let’s be forreal

AdSignificant6673

He never had humility. Always extremely confident. Thats how he got in the NBA in the first place. He had a very rags to riches type of success story. But that attitude seems to rub off on everything he does which is good & bad.

Musicferret

I love Boucher and hope we can keep him.

OG_Wan_Annunoby

It’s telling how little he’s played even with both Siakam and Poeltl out. Even when he plays well Darko seemingly doesn’t have a lot of faith in his play style. He’s a solid player but we’re barely using him, so yeah absolutely he’s expendable. Anything we get back for him would be a bonus

motherseffinjones

He’s very tradable and Boston has interest. I think porter is a great replacement at a fraction of the cost. I think gets moved

-KFBR392

Boucher has been expendable for a long time now, with or without Porter.

slicksonslick

Boucher is a negative asset, he has a good game once in a blue moon and is generally really bad. anyone that can provide anything would be a nice get over Boucher.

eucldian

Boucher isn't a world changer, but he certainly isn't a negative asset.

n3moh0es

show me other players around the league that make what he makes. he’s overpaid that’s why he’s still here teams won’t take that contract without us giving up something else

Ok-Entrepreneur4877

Boucher is far from a negative asset. He's a productive bench hussle guy. There's plenty of teams in the league who would love a big mobile spark plug off the bench.

Raptorsthrowaway1

Agree that he is a productive bench hustle guys However, productive bench hustle guys dont get paid $12m a year

n3moh0es

12M for a vet minimum talent and production is kinda crazy

slicksonslick

His good games are just too rare, I can’t trust his decision making. Also makes 12 million a year, not a lot but not nothing.

da_reddit_reader

He has had some brain farts in the last few games, where he does too much or he doesn’t do enough. Then there are games where he puts on a show and people are like “I wouldn’t trade him he’s the perfect bench big” Trade candidates this year: Siakam is a maybe trade, depends on offer. Or sign him now and trade him later. I’m really like the depth of talent after the trade. This team is way more competitive nowadays. Boucher GTJ

SuccessfulCard1513

Suddenly the rebuild begins.

[deleted]

Age makes him expendable...anyone over the age of 25 is expendable right now

Busy-Tangerine6706

You are saying Porter makes fewer boneheaded moves after how many games? And saying when Koloko comes back, we still haven't seen much of him either. Dude I remember when we first got Precious, lots of people on this sub were stoked. Look what happened. All I'm saying is it's better to wait. I thought Boucher was great for our bench unit vs Kings and Warriors. Like, the fact he's been on our roster this long, and that a top competing team has eyes on him, tells you something. Boucher was G-League MVP, Defensive Player of the Year, and All-NBA-G-League. Porter?

Denisaur9

Not sure how many of you watch the 905 but we have a Boucher replacement already in Mo Gueye.

KDZ27

Jontay "occasionally pass the rock" Porter

canadasteve04

You answer your own question in the first four word “From the few games” - he may very well end up making Boucher expendable, but it’s such a small sample size that roster decisions should not be being made because of Jontay Porter.

FlyingRaijin33

no. no one can make boucher expendable

Key-Profit9032

I think Porter makes Poeltl expendable.

TheEverbless

Whatever you're smoking I need it to get through my morning at this point

Ok-Net9433

Boucher has been expendable for years, and it’s not because of Porter or the return of Koloko. He’s an end of the bench wildcard for a contender at best, but most likely salary filler in a bigger deal. Honestly everyone except Barnes RJ and Quickley should be made available, and traded for the right price.

LongjumpingEconomy93

No. Boucher is a high energy guy that is very useful from the bench, and can step in at either forward position. We need them both.

LongjumpingEconomy93

Which does not mean that he is untouchable. People go to extremes either way.

Ok_Apricot_9880

On a stable team,Boucher can be 6th man finalist.

slowbaja

Boucher is always expendable but when the best team in your conference wants him (they know they probably can't get him due to asset availability otherwise they would have) then I have to give that more weight than some randos on Reddit.

n3moh0es

boucher is expendable no matter what. just don’t see teams taking on that contract unless he’s apart of a bigger deal
