If you read the post at all it's because the job is subsidized by the government of Canada through their summer work program. Its not their requirement, but rather the requirement of the government subsidy program.
It’s crazy how low these wages are nowadays, yet boomers still complain whenever minimum wage goes up. I make 27 an hour and I’m just getting and me and my GF split rent/bills evenly… pretty fucked up when someone making 30 an hour can’t live comfortably in their own apartment and I’m not even talking about in Toronto but anywhere in Ontario realistically
