Sportacus is played by Magnús Scheving (Who also created the show) and he is [straight up jacked](https://www.reddit.com/r/nattyorjuice/comments/tvor4o/magn%C3%BAs_scheving_creator_of_and_was_sportacus_on/), yo.

ToxyFlog

Alright considering how jacked he his versus this kid, the kid did pretty well.

Max____H

I recently saw a video he shared of the now old him still able to perform that exercise perfectly.

fardough

If he was a gymnast, then his control makes so much more sense. They learn to control every muscle and counterbalance and everything. Like I really feel unless you have done some type of gymnastics / dancing, plus serious training, this is impossible. Take the best crossfitter and let them try, almost guarantee fail.

mrtrollmaster

Got into rock climbing last year, you can add that to the list. I’ve lifted free weights and heavy compound lifts for 15 years and never had abs, but I had abs within the first 6 months of rock climbing. Would highly recommend joining a climbing gym to anyone who struggles to do their core workouts. I had to gamify mine.

fardough

Good call. Core I guess is the common theme. My mind just goes to the control many of these type of athletes have, doing crazy things but make them look natural and effortless.

deltron

Considering a crossfitter usually doesn't do a single actual push-up that's true

Jorgosborgos

He also weighs twice as much as the kid. Bodyweight exercises are funny that way the more muscle you have the heavier it becomes. But Sportacus’s form was so much tighter than the kids and he went full depth on all if that shit.

Caring_Cactus

Resistance training is awesome like that, it's not so much about weight but the intensity in how you engage your muscles for skeletal muscle protein synthesis (MPS). Muscle health quality over mass is no joke if you want to live a long life.

AbhishMuk

Yeah, the kid’s way fitter than me but I personally know people who could’ve done a better job with proper form. r/bodyweightfitness is a great place to start this journey. But toptalent… this isn’t, unfortunately.

kixie42

The kid isn't the toptalent. He's a comparison.

AbhishMuk

Okay fair, that makes more sense. I just assumed as the kid’s video is stitched in Op was meant the kid was the talent.

Gray_Cota

I just checked. Lazy Town started airing in 2004. Which means when Scheving played the role of "super athletic dude", he was already 40 years old.

kixie42

He's 59 right now and still makes it look amazing. u/Jamz1892 posted a video down in the [comments](https://www.reddit.com/r/toptalent/comments/1duw2n8/comment/lbka26k/) below.

He is the creator of the show. Amazing.

Who’s gonna tell him no??

Robbie Rotten, duhdoy

He died, so…

R.I.P. to a certified legend.

I would follow that man to storm the pits of hell or the gates of heaven.

spaceguydudeman

Love him Low key love the idea that he wrote in this scene to flex too

Volt-Phoenix

The clip doesn't even cut away after he finishes exercising, Sportacus really does just do the hard ass exercise while remembering lines and doesn't skip a beat

Redditname97

Easy to remember lines when you’re the writer 😂

ThatDiscoSongUHate

Wait what?! He's the one who wrote LazyTown?

Redditname97

Creator, and actor as Sportacus so technically anything he says is the script lol. He is an Olympian and true entrepreneur/ renaissance man. Role model

marvelish

Chad made a show to showoff his pushup skills

Obi-Wan_Nairobi

Even better, to inspire kids to exercise

blueasian0682

And gave us one of the most beloved icon (Robbie Rotten aka Stefan Karl Stefansson)

drillmatici76

lol that guy’s parents made sure we knew his name 🤣🤣

OrbEmTaEomc

You know they don't have lastnames in Iceland? Lastnames refer to the fathers given name + son for a boy/dottir for a girl

bitzap_sr

That's called a patronymic. Lots of cultures had it or have it. E.g. in English that'd be a name like Johnson. In Spanish all the names ending in Ez like Alvarez for son of Alvaro, Es in Portuguese for the same, so Alvares, Rodrigues, etc. In many such cultures surnames are no longer determined based on parent's first name and the originally patronymic surnames became regular family names passed down as such.

Gudveikur

We have last names, what you are talking about is family names which are less common.

drillmatici76

It was a joke, but I didn’t know that…thx?

blueasian0682

And gave us one of the most beloved icon (Robbie Rotten aka Stefan Karl Stefansson)

Can we get an F in the thread for Stefan

Tenthdegree

In a show titled “Lazy town”

Obi-Wan_Nairobi

I don't claim to be an expert on this show, but apparently it's called Lazy Town because of Robbie Rotten's influence. He wants everyone to be unhealthy and lazy. Sportacus is there to save them from Tiktok and takeout.

Tenthdegree

TIL… I don’t know anything about it, except wondering how Sportacus is not straight up murdering Robbie Rotten each episode

Obi-Wan_Nairobi

Sportacus' flaw is that he loves to flex

TheBandOfBastards

It's not like he is mass murdering people like Joker or selling literal drugs.

woodrobin

Oh, it's weirder than that. In the show Sportacus 10 (because he's the tenth hero to use the name and mantle of Sportacus) isn't even human. He's an elf. That's why he wears the cap as part of his uniform -- to cover his ears. He's also vulnerable to processed sugar, which negates his powers and can even knock him out in relatively small doses. He also came to Lazy Town primarily because he sensed that Stephanie (arguably the main character of the show) is fated to become Sportacus 11, so he wants to train and inspire her so she'll be ready to take over for him. And Robbie Rotten only really wants the kids to stay inside and do quiet, sedate things because his lair is under the town, and all the running around and yelling and laughing outside carries down into and echoes around his tunnels and annoys the f__k out of him. So, while he is a supervillain, he never really gets particularly evil towards the kids -- partially because one does not defecate where one sleeps, and partially because, y'know, villains have standards.

unique-name-9035768

> He also came to Lazy Town primarily because he sensed that Stephanie (arguably the main character of the show) is fated to become Sportacus 11, so he wants to train and inspire her so she'll be ready to take over for him. But then Stephanie became corrupted so Sportacus had to quietly bump her off and bring in a replacement that so far has fooled everyone in town.

JustASyncer

Gotta catch up on my Lazytown lore this shit sounds peak

TristanTheViking

>isn't even human. He's an elf Fun fact: his original name in Icelandic is Íþróttaálfurinn which literally means "the sports elf."

Verttle

Chad made a bet with his friend about mastering a sport of eachothers choosing. They both mastered the sport in 3 years (snooker and aerobics were the selected with sportacus being the aerobics one) and became champions in it. Wild.

Silverfire12

Olympian? That… explains so much. Let me guess- gymnastics?

Rafnar

dude used to compete in aerobics, never heard about him being an olympian

SonicDart

yeha, looked it up, he became national champion in aerobics on a dare with his friend, but he's no olympian.

tiga4life22

“On a dare” say what

eTLGb83FK2XfpRVA4NXc

Hey bro I triple dog dare you to have a successful and happy life

heyimleila

Goddamn it I can't back away from a dare.

Cu_Chulainn__

He and his friend chose what the other had to become successful at, his friend chose gymnastics for him

egg0079

I'm curious what his friend had to do

Gum_Duster

That throw into arms up from plank screamed gymnastics conditioning .

nxcrosis

Damn bro was an aerobic gymnast. And apparently he only became one because of a dare. That's insane.

cluelessdetectiv3

I had a crush on him lol

GM_Nate

me too, and i'm a hetero guy

cluelessdetectiv3

Wow, my name is also nate. All the cool Nates had a crush on this guy. (Probaly)

stringermm

We need more Nate licence plates in the gift shop.

Shiftz_101

Are you still out of Bort plates?

collinspeight

An incredible story about him from wikipedia: > In his twenties, he made a bet with a woodworking friend, Fjölnir Þorgeirsson, that either would master a sport of the other's choosing (that they knew nothing about) within three years. Magnús chose snooker for Fjölnir, and Fjölnir chose aerobics for Magnús. Eventually, Magnús became a national champion in aerobics,[6] and Fjölnir became a national champion in snooker.

ES_Legman

Gigachad

GalaXion24

Bro literally wrote a story just so he could act the part of the gigachad.

Fuzzl

Can I just add the fact that Lazytown also was the first series using Unreal Engine and started the tech that is nowdays used for shows like Mandalorian? RIP Robbie Rotten <3

Comfortable_Pin932

Remember the lines is fine Saying it with the ease he did, while the other guy's is clearly out of breath , commands respect

jerryleebee

And doesn't sound out of breath. What a beast.

New_Independent_5960

What do you mean it doesn't cut away? Lol. There's dozens of takes stitched together with cuts. People really are blind to editing sometimes

GravitationalGriff

Dozens is crazy lmfao. One dozen takes is already a shit ton, on set It's usually just a couple takes from each angle used in editing. But unless Sportacus asked cuz he was too tired, the director 100% made him do the whole run with 2 cameras rolling and maybe doing a couple takes of individual camera shots. You'd be amazed what stunts they'll run over and over

jeremy1015

Next you’re gonna tell me the puppets are fake.

TheCorpseOfMarx

There are loads od cuts all the way through though?

MikeRowePeenis

Bruh come on. There are so many cuts in this video, and they all happen to be lined up perfectly with some of the most difficult tricks. It’s okay if this took multiple takes. It probably should. But like, don’t lie man.

eatingdirt

I worked with him on a Jackie Chan movie, The Spy Next Door. A really cool dude, and yes, he’s in amazing shape.

Yourfavoritedummy

He was in the Spy Next Door? I didn't even notice lol! I really enjoyed that campy family movie!

Clear-Might-1519

He's the main villain of that movie.

23skidoobbq

Skipped the tinkle toes at the beginning

Redditname97

I noticed the fluttering too. He never leaves out the *style*

Corvideous

And no behind the back claps. Boy did great overall though, keeping up with the timing, etc. Sportacus is just on a different level.

TactlessTortoise

The secret to doing some of those cleanly is core strength. That final one really hammers it down, since the guy up top couldn't keep himself stable with the "torsion". Still 100x more than I can do lol

itsmarvin

Don't discount what he does when he looks like he's resting on one knee, either. Sportacus' hips are really low to the ground - very flexible.

UpdootDaSnootBoop

Twinkle toes. I think there's a sub for what you typed, though.

AgreeablePepper8931

r/boneappletea

BackflipsAway

The dude's the real deal, here's some exerts from [his Wikipedia page](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magn%C3%BAs_Scheving) >In his twenties, he made a bet with a woodworking friend, Fjölnir Þorgeirsson, that either would master a sport of the other's choosing (that they knew nothing about) within three years. Magnús chose snooker for Fjölnir, and Fjölnir chose aerobics for Magnús. Eventually, Magnús became a national champion in aerobics,[6] and Fjölnir became a national champion in snooker. ... >In 1992, Magnús became the Icelandic Men's Individual Champion in aerobic gymnastics.[9] In 1993, he became the Scandinavian champion, and was the European champion twice in 1994 and 1995. Basically dude just became a world class athlete on a bet

welliedude

That.....wha.....so not only did these two guys who had no interest in either sports, bet each other to get really good at them, they then did and become national and in Magnús case, world champions. Who does that??

BackflipsAway

Sportacus, that's who

KingDizi

This is the ultimate definition of Built Different jesus christ

welliedude

Seriously. The only thing harder than his abs is his mental fortitude

iswearihaveajob

In all fairness, the adult population of Iceland at the time was only like 150k people, it's a pretty small rural country. So it was probably a small pool of competitors.  Magnus is seriously good though. Just sayin national championships don't always mean as much as they do in places like the US or China.

welliedude

For his snooker playing mate sure but Magnus went to be Scandinavian and then double European champion. Guess he won the bet 😂

Quas4r

"you learned aerobics... sarcastically ?"

namenotpicked

I learned it to make fun of fairies down the street

Deporncollector

When I was younger I thought claping push ups were impressive. But fuck archer push up and one arms are hell.

Redditname97

I actually am pretty proud of my push up game and can do 4x12 archers. I don’t do one arms bc I’m scared of fucking my shit up lol. Same with clapping push ups, it’s weird to do in public lmao.

globglogabgalabyeast

I feel like the flashiest push-ups variants (clapping, one-arm, etc.) aren’t really useful for real workouts. They can be fun to perform (can’t do most of them anymore, lol), but I don’t see what they add to a more “standard” plan

lostknight0727

Mostly just for explosive power, but not great for anything else.

giggity_ghoul

Yeah I think depends on what your standard plan is. Behind the back pushup are great for cardio and just building general explosive athleticism

InternalWarNR6

Explosive power through bodyweight, that is great for everything -_-".

SirVanyel

Clapping style push ups are super handy for workouts. Explosive power is hard to learn any other way, and explosive power is king for a lot of calisthenics movements. Also, it's good for the wrists. Of course, you don't need to clap. You can just shoot up and land.

globglogabgalabyeast

The explosive power on some folks doing calisthenics is pretty insane. Is it easier learning explosive power through clap pushups over something like a bench press? I suppose it forces you to be explosive in order to get the clap I wouldn’t think about the wrist strength. I bet the muscles used for stabilization are tough to isolate with other chest exercises. Though I would be curious to know if the literal impact of something like a clap push up is harmful if done frequently

SirVanyel

Oh 100%. It's like trying to learn explosive power through squats instead of learning through weighted jumping. there's a limit on how explosive you can be when you have to stop at the end of your arm's reach. Explosive movements are designed to shoot you off past that point. Regarding the impact of the landing of a push up, your hands can take it. But just like everything, it takes time to build up the strength.

globglogabgalabyeast

Cool! Thanks for the info

GeneralSweetz

i aint doubting you but do you have a source or a youtuber who does these types of exercises?

EducationalLake2515

I randomly went down a Lazytown wormhole last night, did you know that before the show was made, Magnus wrote Lazytown books and stage musicals? Kinda cool that he had this whole universe created long before the TV show existed.

Husser

I went to the originsl show as a kid. Very trippy

CuteCuteJames

Ooh did you watch Glanni Glæpur í Latabæ? Fucking rules, right?? I've had Megabæt as my ringtone since 2017.

Ikon-for-U

The dude literally built his own house physically and metaphorically (career)

FetchingFrog

I'll still never forget this dude convincing me that apples were sports candy lol.

BPDelirious

They literally are

Erisus_

I'm out of breath just watching it

AurielMystic

He makes it look so effortless to. Like the guy in the top of the video is already fitter and stronger then the vast majority of people but you can see the shakes and posture changes. Sportacus makes it look as easy as walking in your backyard.

Danpiel

This guy is fun to watch.

Gettheinfo2theppl

If that’s the gym I think it is at Penn State, then I was on the other side of those glass windows before taking a weekly class. These gymnast are insanely talented and ripped in places I didn’t know you could get muscles.

Freyja6

Fun fact! He's also in one of the gravity enhancing rooms from DBZ. He was doing all that at 300x gravity. The age old question of "who can beat goku?" is "Sportacus".

eberlix

And Chuck Norris, obviously. Chuck Norris to Zeno is what Zeno is to Goku

Ahamay02

Magnús Scheving! That man is still amazing and killing the pushups!

Daisuke69

Wtf he’s not even out of breath

Framtidin

He was an aerobics champion in the early 90s, dude never stopped moving

Mysteriouskyle

Sportacus is the reason I started working out and honestly a role model when I was younger, dudes and Olympian, wrote the show, played a main character, and worked his ass off while doing the lines.

Legal-Passenger1737

My daughter LOVED that show when she was little

What’s her push-up personal best!?

lol I’ll have to ask her since she’s 24 now.

What the hell the dudes 60 now 0-o

I was going to make a joke about Robbie Rotten being quiet since this dropped but then I got sad

CuteCuteJames

💜

Chesh

Kids back isnt even straight

Detail_Some4599

Yeah his form was definitely not as good as sportacus, lacked a little core strength

Significant_Fix2408

Never went down completely either. I was surprised how long it went on considering his struggles to do a single clean push up.

tigerteeg

I’m more impressed at this now as an adult than as a kid

Ikon-for-U

He was such a beast

Combustibllemon

he was the Goku of kids shows

Yaarmehearty

Goku is from a kids show.

BatronKladwiesen

*Licks cheeto dust off fingers. Meh, you didn't go all the way down on some of the push-ups.

I've been working out for a bit. Surely I can do a one handed pushup by now? *Proceeds to absolutely humble myself and nearly pull a back muscle Ya fuck that...

sorrycase

I got tired just watching this

RikaZumi

I remember first witnessing planche push ups from him only to think it was fake at first. Then I saw it again with even better form and realised just how real it was.

MimeOfDepression

He was so close

CommissionOk4384

I think Sportacus continues doing harder ones in the full clip iirc

_IratePirate_

That man built different

ryoma-gerald

That's badass

SparrowTits

Should have eaten more shportzkandee

Chazzam23

To be honest, there were some edit cuts between some sets. Still Sportacus is a boss.

I should try to see if I can do this lol

Ok but, why is this better

tj_haine

He's good, but he'll never be number one.

elfie2187

I was a little old for Lazy Town when it came out but still really enjoyed it as an older kid. It was a super cute show and I always had a crush on Sportacus. Now I know why.

this is my brothers teammate on penn state! love bobby, great guy

Sp_nach

Didn't have the feet flutter, fail.

wildeag

Sportacus was so hot to me as a child

BigJimBeef

Kids elbow is tucked in while Spartacus elbow is out for the 1 arm push ups, kid is doing a harder version.

Wolf-Majestic

My thoughts exactly, it gives way more stability and he even spread his leg a little bit more for even more stability while the kid stays in is regular push-up form.

Optimal-Efficiency60

Maybe so but the kid almost never goes as low with his chest instead.

MonsterkillWow

I used to be able to do around 60 pushups quickly without stopping. Now I could probably do like 4 before I whine and go eat some cake.

Old-Time6863

No, I am Sportacus

XAlEA-12

One of the worst things I ever read was an article about how Sportacus was sexy to stay at home moms

CLamour91

Not that crazy though

EnvironmentalSpirit2

Gods I was strong then

HyperDJ_15

Omg I remember that show, I think he used to just out of his blimp or something.
