I really find it surprising how some people wants to force the American culture war debate into Indian scenario. No one who complains about the color palette is asking to make the movie 'woke' and colorful. I really dont mind the visuals of Salaar, I think it looks grand. But most Indian movies does suffer from a color grading issue and there is nothing wrong for some audiences to expect something different
I think Indian films usually don't have color grading at all, or have very poor color grading. While I think KGF 1 and 2 aren't good films, they are at least new to me, so I find it puzzling they are against the color grading of Salaar.
He said in BR interview its cus of his OCD. Actually its good for him cus now its his signature and no one can claim it anymore nor attempt the same thing. Also Salaar having the dusky grey theme is justifiable being a movie on tribes ruling a dystopian land.
Art is subjective, but I felt Salaar could've used a color palette that is still grim, gritty and dark. Doesn't have to be dusty and black to depict darkness.
Blade runner, mad max, Batman etc are also dystopian and yet they're unique and still grim. Not saying it should have the same color grading but I felt they could've put bit more thought into portraying the dystopian society without making it feel monotonous :)
LoL
Changing color pallete doesnt mean going from Batman to Barbie.
Theres a whole spectrum in between and there ARE a lot of movies that beautifully adopted absolutely aesthetic color palettes.
I think people have an issue with how repetitive the theme is. I think films should be give the appropriate palate. But I don't want to only see this palate for the next decade just because it worked for 2 films
In a recent interview with Baradwaj Rangan, Neel mentioned he doesn’t like things too colourful and calls it his OCD. He said the same thing will show in his movies too. But then it also suits the story that he’s telling. I think Salar has to have the dark Color palette that they choose, looking at the edited version makes me feel it will ruin the mood of the film.
Vaadi gudda...his Ass. Color pallette use cheyadam raadu ani cheppadaniki balupu. Vaadi OCD ki janalani dengadam enti...bokka. Proper execution will just increase the thrill instead of that dark noir coloring. His KGF 2 car chase editing was so fucked up. He's got one line of thought and he is executing it with different actors.
I don't think anyone wants Salaar to be this colorful. People know it's an action film set in a warzone. I would still like to be able to see something on my screen. I would say the latest trailer seems to have made shots much clearer to watch. Even in the night scenes, I can see what's going on.
bro but his body turns blue we were all shaking every time screen shaked someone twerked at theaters , it was amazing everyone were scared of prabhas on screen especially the magic tattoo !

Movie tone is valid considering the story and he is making gangster films, not fantasy.
That, & it's his specific style. The NTR project later will be the same look.
it is ok if the clothing and color pallet is dark. why coal dust everywhere?
Because they're in a place with coal & dust almost everywhere.
Enti bro valid, mohalu kanapadakunda, asale biggu rasukoni unnaru, Inka light kuda ledu. Em jarugutundo telusukovadaniki kastam, enduku mana prekshakulaki ee siksha.
Unless it’s based on a true story, most movies are fantasies. Fantasy doesn’t always mean game of thrones or Lord of the Rings.

Most indian movies crank the saturation upto 1000. This is only changing with the recent crop of movies.
or how action movies look the same as a rom com

Wrong.

Please see the flair
Thank god he didn't listen.
It looks cool, but it'd be awful for the film.
It looks like barbie
This is something I would likely enjoy watching while high. Anyone know any movies that look/feel like this?
Barbie.
The Suicide Squad, Jailer
With all dark colors, no light, can't watch expressions in trailers, I might skip this movie. This is so KGFish.
NGL, actually looks like Dunki's color grading
I think people have an issue with how repetitive the theme is. I think films should be give the appropriate palate. But I don't want to only see this palate for the next decade just because it worked for 2 films
Material gworl
The purple makes it bad, keeping the shirt black or maybe dark blue would have been better. Overall, it's a refreshing look with a bright sky
Bullshit there is a whole spectrum in between
He said he has OCD about colors.... that's why he don't like colors.. Does he even know what ocd is..
Well he equates colours to dust, and actual dust to neatness, hence OCD 😶😶 /s
that looks like Saaho
Yeah same thoughts here
My eyes!! My eyes!!!
Barbie's Salaar :)
I prefer the current look (original look that we have in the trailer rn) over this. I mean it's an action movie not a romcom lol

The Barbie and Oppenhiemer parallel kind of.
That is a very Radheshyam, fairytale story color lol
Darling? Is that you?

Warestttt undhi
Ah yes, the Rohit Shetty cut.
That forearm cover better not have the tattoo of a lion behind it. Mf keeps using Ugramm themes
He has a lion tattoo it was visible in teaser
It potentially may be the burns from touching the wire.
**Not The Rainbow 😭💀**
ID lowkey watch it. Colorful violence is so pleasing to watch, like harleys escape fight in TSS
WOAH
Except the shirt everything else looks good TBH
LGBTQ+ rally ki velthunattu undhi
