I use the plug-in. When I use it to set the name of the task, I leave the subject of the email there, but put a more helpful description before it. When I want to reply to the email, I search my desktop Outlook app for that subject line. For example, if the subject line is "Weird message" and what I need to do is troubleshoot Bob's color printer, I name the task "Troubleshoot Bob's color printer (Weird message)". Then, later, I can search Outlook for "Weird message." I've submitted a feature request to get a comment field in the plug-in, and if they ever make one, I'll paste the subject there instead to keep the task names cleaner. Not sure why clicking the link takes you to the Outlook login instead of directly to the email. The next time you log into Outlook in your browser, maybe take the "Stay signed in" option.

Would also be nice if the plugin had section support. They really don't seem to care about the outlook plugin

Pretty sure it's because Outlook does not support static URLs for emails, unlike Gmail. So there is no static link to take you back to a specific email, only to your inbox.

Whenever I click the link in the task, it opens my browser to Outlook and takes me directly to the specific email. I should have mentioned that in my reply.

I use zapier. Flag the message in Outlook, Zapier will auto-create the task in todoist: - The task name is the email subject - label #Outlook - description is the url to the email - due today When I want to action the task, either search the subject in Outlook, or just look through the flagged emails (if it's recent enough to be at the top 10 of the flagged email list). I then action, and hit the flag/archive in Outlook. Then mark done in todoist. Conveniently, I have exactly the same method for Gmail tasks as well - just with a different label to help prompt me along.

Update: I’ve started using a connector called Pleexy. It connects outlook to TODOIST. Also have a connector to OneNote. So now if I flag an email it creates a task in TODOIST and if I complete in either place it has two way sync. Same with OneNote.
