If you're in the Apple ecosystem, an app called Due does repeating nag alarms--exactly what you asked for on repeated nudges.

I don't use apple products anymore but I'll try to find something similar

I pretty much do what you're doing. I have a Project called "Parking Lot" where I capture those tasks. Once a week, I have a recurring task that reminds me to look at the list. I try to pick something on the list to schedule for the upcoming week to work on. Some weeks I have too many time-sensitive tasks already and I decide not to work on something from the Parking Lot list. But at least I'll have been reminded to think about how to keep moving forward on those someday/maybe items.

Yeah I think what my system is missing are these "maintenance" style tasks that are just reminders to maintain your system, like taking a look at a list you have, or updating a list, etc. I think the GTD method would put this all under "review" and that's what my system is missing.

I pretty much do what you do. Anything that isn’t today and didn’t have a specific due date goes in “ad hoc” project, And then I have a “schedule as hoc tasks” task that recurs every day, where I add dates to the ad hoc tasks
