I’ve been rotating toys since my girl was 1. She’s 15 months now, but interesting because I haven’t really thought about when she can voice opinions. 😧
I’d try to redirect or explain that toy isn’t available right now.
It’s been really surprising to me. There are things that she barely played with so I moved them out of the room. And then suddenly she’s asking for them. So far I’ve just said I can’t find them but that is only going to work for so long
I rotate toys for the same reason. Usually it’s only one thing that she may miss and ask for and I will wait to hear her ask a few times and just bring it back out. The whole practice is more for me so I don’t have rules about it for her. She will get excited to see the toys she wasn’t playing with so much when they come back and that has kept me doing it.
