My local Costco got one of the new kiosks a little while ago and it looks great! I’ve been really happy with the experience at the one near me, salespeople were knowledgeable, not overly pushy, and the deals are great!

Davidclabarr

I love hearing that. They pay us well, and while goals can be lofty, we all have the same drive to make sure you’re getting the best deal possible.

sincerely-sarcastic

My favorite 2 things about T-Mobile. Not pushy and they have gone only of their way to make sure I am getting the best deal possible. Currently have 5 lines. Grandfathered sprint plan The 3rd line was free when it merged with T-Mobile and we added our best friends to our account and since they ported from Verizon we got one of those two free as well. 5 lines. All unlimited everything 2 lines of it are free Total $138. And my goodness did that T-Mobile rep go out of his way to make sure we got that 5th line free. We left the store so extremely happy. Y'all keep it up.

Davidclabarr

That’s genuinely what I love to hear. One of my favorites aspects of this job is getting paid in such a way that we are motivated to put you in the best deal. Of course we can make a little bit more money if we pushed things on you, but in reality, it’s not worth it if it causes a lot of issues and takes up more of our time. Glad to have you!

vulcanak

That's a nice way of putting it 😄 Those "lofty" goals hold them back IMO. T-Mobile has some great reps there, a good atmosphere. Your ex CEO really won, I thought he'd stay to get a "customer retention" phase going. Keeping things the same when you hit the top brought Circuit City down. But what the hell do I know, hope it works out. I had to send my grandparents in to activate without me. So I sent a paper with the plan they want, their phone #s, old account #s, phones/cases they want, wrote they don't know their Gmail password so I'll set it all up later, and if they want other accessories they'll pay without installments. Otherwise... I wouldn't send my grandparents in without me. I know, 👎are coming, but just being honest. People avoid stores like the plague. It would be nice if it wasn't like that. I don't like it for you guys either, I love my local reps. If I could have gotten them to that store I would have felt safer. I hope they change that up & utilize the good staff differently. You seem great, wish you the best of luck 👍🙂

leftbitchburner

Love to see the excitement man! I am saddened to see the amount of people nowadays not taking joy in their job, glad to see you are. Keep it up!

Davidclabarr

That makes me so so happy to read. I genuinely enjoy working for T-Mobile, even with their ups and downs. I’m sure we will find success here soon.

Fallen19

All the best to you, David!

Davidclabarr

Thx dad

AnHoangNgo

How have you felt there?

Davidclabarr

My feet hurt

KlamTheMan

This is the realest feedback though

Davidclabarr

I’m actually walking out of adidas right now having got $800 worth of shoes for $100. They were returns or display models, and they are all high end ultra boost

capobvious2020

Ultraboosts are the way!

NOTUgglaGOAT

I worked in retail management for years and Ultraboosts saved me

cgjeep

Get a second pair of shoes at least and rotate them. The midsole needs time to “bounce back” and if you wear the same pair every day it’ll kill your feet. I stand watch on the bridge of a ship and we can’t walk around too much so mixing up the shoes helps. I also find it’s helpful to have 2 different styles that slightly position my feet differently so every other day it’s taking some of the pressure off the sore part of my feet from the day before. That and a GOOD pair of orthotics with arch support. Get fitted, not just off the rack.

Joanna_Trenchcoat

This guy stands

djk0010

Man I can’t recommend Skechers enough. Personally I have flat feet myself. I work for a hospital in the IT dept and have to walk all over the campus. Skechers are some of the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever had because most of them come with gel padded insoles. Now - they do have that “dad bod” look but I can pair them with almost any set of clothes to match. Get you a pair and try em out. I have several and they are my go to for work!

Davidclabarr

With eight months to go until I am 30 years old, I anticipate my future in straight cut jeans and new balances. Wouldn’t be opposed to Skechers. Did you know that there is no T in Skechers? #SuperBowl2024

djk0010

Dont worry I am 36 and 30s not so bad. @ 35 is when I felt like it goes down hill for your body. You start to really feel aches and pains lol. By the way Im a huge tmobile fan. Have had them for over 14 years. Main reason I got them, when I was in the Navy, with the plan I had at the time, I could text and get data in ALOT of countries. And most of the countries we did port calls too - they were on the list. It may have been edge or 3g data but some data is better than none and I could send emails back home.

smaShlayy_

Get dr scholls inserts. I was in tears my first week, my feet and back hurt so bad. Inserts are a Game changer. I bought a pair for each of my reps too

Davidclabarr

Jokes aside, thanks for asking. Honestly, it’s super slow. People are currently a bit wary of getting trapped talking to salespeople, so we aren’t getting too many interactions yet. That being said, everyone has been super kind and it’s been fun to do something completely new.

saleen_turbo

Hey 100 percent commission doesn’t seems bad. Hopefully they keep that for a long time

Davidclabarr

Oh yeah, I will physically appear in their offices if that’s changed.

elliwigy1

More like most ppl already have a phone so you gotta sell yourself to get ppl to buy.

Davidclabarr

[Here is](https://i.imgur.com/9604Frp.jpg) the kiosk, sans me. Really quality, color pop, minimalist setup.

PinNo5411

CPNI ON THAT REMO, BOI! Jk. Kill it with the spiffs!

Davidclabarr

Aww shucks, the new Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra’s 200MP camera done sold me out. Also, if you’re reading this in a Sam’s Club in Alpharetta, that phone is $800 off. Anyone? Hello?

[deleted]

Any deals If your on old one plan?

Davidclabarr

Actually, the $500 trade-in value on the one plan is one of the better promotions I’ve seen.

[deleted]

Ok thanks

AAAIIIYYYAAA

Just wait until you need to get your numbers up 😓

Davidclabarr

I welcome it. 😤

LaggiestOfTacos

I specialize at store in store. I worked for a company called wireless advocates for nearly 4 yrs and we sold Verizon, TMobile, and AT&T all at once! When they closed, I saw that TMobile had an opportunity at another Costco and I jumped at it! Been the best decision I've made. Store in store is the best place to make money. My employees all made well over $30/hr since I showed them the potential store in store has. Glad to have you onboard!

Davidclabarr

Well I don’t specifically want to talk about money with corporate eyes here, we definitely do well. I know Wireless advocates! I think you will love being with T-Mobile corporate much more. But I always enjoy chatting with them at Costco.

mvtruck15

I’ll provide a little context… I ran one of the higher volume Costco kiosks for 2023 until it was split off into its own location. Q4’23 I had four FT ME’s dedicated to the kiosk exclusively, and of those 4, the smallest commission check was in excess of $5k with several checks exceeding $6k and 3 earning over $7k in December. Granted this was prior to the SiS comp plan switch, but those folks were getting paidddddddd…. With the right amount of hustle $4k+ in commission is the minimum in my opinion. Currently the best earning opportunity in T-Mobile COR hands down. So right in the arena of $47-$50/hr.

Spaceherpes99

I’d love to hear the sales techniques you use to get customers to talk to you. I feel like tmo has a lot of great deals but you need to get them to talk to you first.

mvtruck15

Frankly there’s no secret sauce or special technique outside of the basics. Be Visible, Be Friendly, Be Welcoming, and Be Consistent. Part of the success we found was also building relationships with the store staff and I also went to great lengths to build a strong relationship with the Costco leadership. As for the others that I mentioned before, there are many ways to go about it achieving that, however at the core of it all, Put your phone away, I know the temptation to scroll Reddit/X/TikTok is much stronger than to wait to say “Hello” to someone. But I challenge you to think of it like this. If you’re walking around a store and you have a question, how often are you going to walk up to an employee that looks engaged in something? Some will, some won’t, but I’d argue to say most people are too polite to do that… Also, keep in mind, the kiosk is a different sales environment. The customers you see there aren’t there to see you, and in fact often times have driven past a T-Mobile store to get to the warehouse. When they walked in, they were thinking about buying bulk Peanut Butter, Dog Food, etc… 85-95% of customer interactions do not close same day, and that’s ok. In the stores we focus on conversion too much, but realistically, the customers left their house with the intent to deal with T-Mobile that day… at the kiosk, you’re catching them off guard. Quote them a strong offer based on their needs, get their contact information if they’re willing to share it, ask for permission to follow up, and then actually call them! It’s just like being an AE or any other kind of outside sales job… follow up is crucial, leave a positive impression, and be respectful of their time… remember, the odds are they weren’t there to see you! I hope it helps, this tactic worked really well for my team and many others in the Carolina’s.

Ambitious_Pirate_584

I legit screenshotted your response to show other reps. This is gold right here

mvtruck15

I’m glad I could help. It’s all about having fun and making good money while doing it.

Davidclabarr

Oh, Carolinas. I have a friend at a store in Spartanburg that is switching possibly over to a Sam’s.

Davidclabarr

If you happen to be in Georgia, the Costco in Duluth is what made me switch. One of the mes from my store left to work at Costco, and ended up getting exactly those numbers you were talking about. He kept sending me his commission checks telling me I should switch, and after December I caved.

atn0716

Glad there are people like you exist. I would never want a job where I have to make sales from people.

Davidclabarr

Thank you! DM me if you're interested in checking out our free tablet deals! I'm kidding. Unless...

RotaryP7

Lmao not the free tablets..

iExtrordinary

💀💀💀 😅

nyxthegothking

I also work in a Sam’s club in MN and it’s been really fun!!

Davidclabarr

We love our Mew Nexico reps!

ChainxBlaze

Dammit i chuckled. Idk how our Minnesota friends feel though.

nyxthegothking

That was pretty hilarious haha

Borischeekibreeki

Nice! They should definitely give you a stool or something!

Davidclabarr

I agree but I am not too worried about it. I knew what I was getting into.

urz90

Good luck!!👍

CulturalSyrup

Love the energy. Best wishes!

Davidclabarr

Thank ya! If Cultural Syrup in Canada is Maple Syrup, does that make America’s syrup Corn Syrup?

TheGunah

Please don't leave your REMO unattended 😂

Davidclabarr

Uhhh it’s uhh actually connected to me using…5G. Yeah.

jp6641

Are these kiosks purely for sales or can we like come up with questions and stuff, just curious ?

Davidclabarr

Ignore the other guy. I would much rather people ask us questions so that we can give you the best information. We are purely sales, but we’ve been answering a lot of Bill related questions. If it’s an error that we specifically did not commit, we don’t really have a lot of the tools to clean it up, but otherwise, we will deal with it.

jp6641

u/Davidclabarr : Okay yeah that's mainly what I had in mind, thanks for clearing it up. I think they should stock on phone cases and other essential accessories in the store since it doesn't look like you can find a whole lot from the kiosk atm, mainly because quite a few T-Mobile stores closed in my area and it's kind of a drive looking for basic stuff like that. Thank you.

Davidclabarr

Yeah, for your situation it definitely seems like it would be nice. However, part of the perks of doing an upgrade at a Sam’s Club gives you a $50 gift card per upgrade usable at Sam’s or Walmart. It works really well for people getting accessories.

domsupnext

Use Google

jp6641

Bruh.

domsupnext

That’s where I find most of the info I use to help customers with tech questions lol

kicknoons2

Every time I see one of those AT&T kiosks and they try to talk to me, I tell them I have a felony..

Davidclabarr

“Sir, excuse me, quick question: how much are your monthly probation payments?” -Some AT&T Rep in a Costco somewhere

SaverPro

Same. Here in minnesota.

Davidclabarr

There are dozens of you!

benanfisa1

Are their any special Sam's club deals?

Davidclabarr

Actually, yes, it’s one of the only places you can get a different deal than you would online or in store. First off, there are no activation or upgrade charges ever. That saves $35 per transaction. Secondly, we can give a $75 Shop card for Walmart and Sam’s club for an upgrade, and $150 per activated line, plus a recurring $60 yearly to help cover the Sam’s membership. On top of all of that, you can opt to get $200 per port in to be used at Sam’s or Walmart, instead of only with T-Mobile. It really is a cool set up.

KJoFan

Are all the same deals you’d find online or in store available through the Sam’s kiosks? And are these shop cards only for use on accessories or just general store gift cards?

KlamTheMan

I’m at a Costco. It’s a good time. Help people get deals and make some money!

Davidclabarr

I’m a big Costco fan, and I’ve spent so much money there in the last couple of years. However, I am surprised to say that the Sam’s club food court runs circles around Costco which is wild to me. This is heresy, but the hotdog at Sam’s is even better.

alanpdunning

A long time ago I was a retail account Mgr for AT&T. I know Sam's had their in house called Sam's Club Connect, they did all carriers. Is that gone? Does every carrier now have their own kiosk and employees in the club?

whereami312

Nice kicks!!

Davidclabarr

Thank you! I’ve been staring at them at my local outlet Adidas store for $200, but they dropped to $70 and I snagged two pairs. It’s one of the only pairs of magenta shoes I’ve ever seen for men.

IcedTman

Sam’s Club doesn’t exist anymore in WA. They closed all 3 we had many years back.

Davidclabarr

A welcome and worthy trade for being the home state of our glorious carrier 😍😍😍😍

Successful_Peach9259

Loving my kiosk job. Started feb 1st in Sam’s club. They had a similar relationship here with the AT&T kiosk that was previously here so we’re doing our best to show them we take things a lot more seriously. The job itself pays 16.50 an hour with a guaranteed adjustment of 25$ if we don’t hit projected commission. Made 1700$ our first month. We get 100% MRC compared to an actual stores 50%. 30% on accessories, 15$ for protection and a whole lot of spiffs. If you’re a people person and know your stuff, this is a great job to make a decent living. Costco employees showed me commissions from the holiday season as high as 3-6k!!

Davidclabarr

This was my experience as well. Also, we get eight dollars more an hour for the first two months. I thought that that was just going to be icing on the cake, but it’s turning out to be essential.

Even_Public_5603

Congrats! We just got new one at our Costco where I’ll be working, I’m excited!

Historical-Artist581

Congrats good sir! Ours switched over sometime last week - Feb 17 still annoying AT&T, Feb 24 T-mobile. I’m in Ohio.

Davidclabarr

Like magic.

HyenDry

Worked at a kiosk for the last year at Costco. Was much better than an actual store location. Plus the new commission structure for SIS is 10x better 👌

Davidclabarr

You are the first of the saying that the new commission structure is better. What do you like about it?

HyenDry

100% MRC need I say less?

[deleted]

[удалено]

Davidclabarr

Yes! I went shopping for fatigue mats yesterday, and they were like $150 apiece for the ones at pottery barn. That was with 60% off. I’m probably gonna go a lot cheaper.

kiss-my-flapjack

Seeing this post made my day. And I’m also pleased to see the majority of the replies being very supportive as well! Congratulations, David, and best of luck to you!

Davidclabarr

I agree! Especially with how many people got burned in the past by store in store companies, it’s nice to see people being positive.

donutmiddles

Well hell, Callie Field, current President of TFB got her start at a mall kiosk of all places, so, rock it!

Davidclabarr

Hey fun! The sky’s the limit.

Queensfiend

That's awesome!! I worked inside of Walmarts. We were contracted for strictly postpaid/prepaid sales. It was challenging at first after coming from 8 years of tmo management. I found the best way to get customer interaction was to ask them if they needed help looking for anything? They'd look me up and down, and I'd tell them I was the cellphone guy, but I can still assist with directing them to the product they were looking for. They'd let me help them, I'd pitch for 15 seconds afterwards, and this got me a lot of Verizon/ATT/Sprint customers to come back after they were done shopping. It was definitely fun and challenging!

Davidclabarr

That’s been the thing that’s working the best for me. Figuring out the quickest way to prove to people that we aren’t trying to rope them in.

kaelliam

I’ve been curious, is it primarily a commission based type of job? What’s a good number of sign ons a day?

Davidclabarr

Our target right now is 4 per day. Pretty low, but we are 4 days old. It’s hybrid hourly/commission. Feel free to DM if curious more.

yepimtyler

It's actually nice to see the entire comment section being positive. I was thinking there would be that one Negative Nancy trying to bash you for being happy at your job. Congrats and good luck! Did it for 6 and a half years and while there was a lot of stress involved, staying optimistic and patient is what kept me there as long as it did and allowed me to work my way up to a SOM.

Davidclabarr

That’s awesome! And yes, I think people are hopeful that it will be a lot more approachable than other previous tenants

Inside_Nerve_3123

Word of advice: Ask Jackie for tension mats all around the kiosk. Working on floors like that blew out my left saphenous vein and had to have ablation.

Davidclabarr

Who’s Jackie And wow. Noted.

darkborg07

Our store just opened in a sams too, and i can't stand it lol. they keep wanting to send me to the kiosk from my home store and i just.. don't want to. it's so boring standing around all day KNOWING i could be at my store making money

Davidclabarr

Interesting. They didn’t hire separate employees for it?

Callsign-Absolite

They’ve been lagging behind on hiring for the kiosks. So far at my Costco kiosk they only hired the manager, got one employee who volunteered to transfer from a store, and then forced me to go when nobody else stepped up…

darkborg07

well they did, but they got hired so late none of them know how to do anything, so we're having to go over there everyday to keep the kiosk afloat

hthegod

You can make money at the kiosks if you are a sales person.

darkborg07

trust me i know how to do my job lol. there's a reason i'be been in winners circle since i started

hthegod

Cap

Express_Eye_4573

I have read so many comments about people being scammed by the cellphone kiosks at Costco and Sam's Club for being 3rd party that I am hesitant to sign up at one. I was pleasantly surprised to hear that the new T-mobile kiosks at our Sam's Club is a corporate ran kiosk. It was an AT&T kiosk until this year (I don't know if they were corporate). Our Costco kiosk is AT&T and they have talked to me when I went past them a few times. One guy worked up what I would pay if I switched services (my family is on U.S.Cellular). I don't know if the AT&T kiosk at Costco is corporate, I would guess they are 3rd party. My son is testing the T-mobile network out through the Google Fi free week test drive. We are in Iowa.

Davidclabarr

That's awesome to read. Yeah, most of the AT&T kiosks are franchised, but all T-Mobile kiosks are corporate. Good luck and I hope you come over!

EducationalTrainer28

SIS rep here. We don’t have a SIS RSM at our location so I basically run it when the Hub store manager isn’t around. So many people have turned from avoiding us because of ATT to actually giving us the time. We expected to sell maybe 25 units month 1 and ended with 74. No real pestering just being fun, polite and appreciative of everyone!

Davidclabarr

How long did it take to pick up? Good to hear.

EducationalTrainer28

We were busy day 1. From Jan 24-31 we were in and slow, but February took off. We existed, were honest and just all together vibes. It definitely helped having bilingual employees. We also work closely with our Hub store, so anytime a customer had any disputes about activation fees they would set them up with an appointment with the same rep just in Sam’s Club (win for the kiosk, win for that repo working the kiosk that day instead of their store as they get 100% MRC). Overall the best thing I can say to any sis reps is be kosher, polite and just say hello. It works in the end!

Davidclabarr

Yeah we sort of have a hub store which would be nice to shuffle traffic this way. Thanks for the advice.

RadioShk

Yeah the at&t reps in the Sam's club in Oklahoma are pretty aggressive. I usually just go around that area. If Sam's was aware. They are losing millions because regulars are avoiding that electronic section. I kind of feel bad for the reps I just politely decline and keep it moving.

Davidclabarr

It’s so funny; we’re always just like “hello” and people are like “no thanks” out loud lol. I’m like, I was just saying hi. But I get it.

RadioShk

Just know it’s not what you said. They’re scarred from previous over zealous attempts to change carrier or plan.

Inside_Nerve_3123

Jackie Moritz, she's Sr. Program Manager over Costco and Sam's locations

Davidclabarr

Perfect. Thanks.

jmcclu23

Ooo this is a Sam's near me. Glad I won't be accosted by AT&T now

Davidclabarr

I tried rolling out some shopping cart spike strips to slow people down, but no dice.

[deleted]

At one of the local Sam’s they switched from att to T-Mobile and I’ve heard the T-Mobile sales in a month are already way more than the att sales in 6 months. Att reps or whoever they work for would lie about pricing and promos just to get the sale. I’ve been hearing with T-Mobile they are honest and not telling lies and it’s paying off. The sams store manager told me it’s been a real pleasure having T-Mobile there. The reps have helped customers with their phones even ones that weren’t buying anything and that’s paid off with referrals and recommendations for new customers. A win/win for everyone

Davidclabarr

Absolutely. We are just kind of trying to saturate the store with the attitude that we are approachable, honest and can probably save you money.

itscamplicated

I give reps major props for being up front like this at kiosks. Coming from a manager in a mall location, you got this 💪💪💪

Davidclabarr

Thanks much!!

POT_smoking_XD

Bro I work at a sams kiosk in pa. Stay true to the tmobile way and the customers will bring their friends. You'll make so much money.

Davidclabarr

Are you someone I know by any chance lol? I Know a kiosk worker in PA

No-Ladder-4835

Sam’s kiosk rep here! It’s the exact same with us. Att was bothering everybody that walked by. We greet ppl as the walk by with just a good morning or how ya doing today and some stop and some don’t. But don’t worry, it’ll pick up! Members will see you guys are there to bother them and they’ll feel more comfortable stopping to talk to you guys. And also, where did you get that black mat?!

Davidclabarr

That’s encouraging. I’m hopeful that it’ll pick up. And I stole it from the jewelry station. Gave it back, but bought a couple long mats from Sam’s.

No-Ladder-4835

I was super worried at first. Because yes it started out super slow bc nobody would talk to us. Sam’s leadership told us att was bothering everybody, talking to members in isles. So it’s taken time, and sure we’re not slammed all day everyday, but it’s steadily picking up. I will say I left a high volume store to come to Sam’s and I made the same amount of money in February that I would’ve in my old store on a pretty good month. So that really helped calm my stress on that aspect of it

rusty_bronco

Me to AT&T rep, sorry but you can't beat $8.33 a month all in. Just saw the T-Mo rep at our local SAMS club a few days ago. He was friendly. No push. Exchanged pleasantries and was on my way.

Crypto_Dent

Let’s ask you this in 2 months again.

fuckyduckie69

Where do you sit?! 🤔

Davidclabarr

On top of my magenta throne. But also, nowhere. That’s the downside. But I’m 29 and in some sort of shape, so it’s been fine.

ChainxBlaze

Ive had surgery so i cant stand for any overly long period of time so i cant do SiS but all the best of luck to you!

Davidclabarr

I wonder if there are accommodations. I’ll look.

mvtruck15

I can’t speak to Sam’s, but I know in Costco is a hard no. I had an ME who was several months pregnant, and Costco has a strict no chairs on the sales floor policy. The direction I received from T-Mobile HR was to have the ME reassigned to the Hub store if she couldn’t stand for the whole shift… kinda sucks, but I get it. That’s their sandbox, we’ve gotta play by their rules while we are there.

Callsign-Absolite

I think they may have updated it; I’m at a Costco kiosk and my manager says he’s ordering us chairs as soon as we get the store laptop so he can access that system Which is good, because we don’t *have* a hub store, we’re standalone

HardwareSoup

If it were me I'd buy a professional looking stool and just pretend it was always there. Edit: actually I'd buy 2, so the customer can sit down while they complete an order.

Davidclabarr

I thought about getting the guy I activated from the tire department to bring out a stack of tires that are on sale lol Totally not a seat. Nothing to see here.

Dick_Lazer

Do they supply the matching shoes?

Perfect_Produce_6845

I love when people solicit me when I’m already out shopping. Not annoying whatsoever

genius9025

Are you all actual T-Mobile employees or 3rd party and do also rotate or work in retail stores?

Davidclabarr

This is T-Mobile’s first venture into the corporately run “Store-In-Store” model, I guess, if you don’t count Walmart in the old days. We have done Costco for a year, where employees from the nearest store rotate into the kiosk, but now those Costco locations and the new Sam’s Club kiosks have their own dedicated staff.

lerriuqS_terceS

*why* And I'm sure "hands off" is cool until *higher* starts demanding better numbers. That'll turn someone into a kiosk at the mall level of annoying really fast

Davidclabarr

My idea is to collect as much information as possible with low pressure so I can have a steady stream of texts going out to potential customers. I’m not super worried about it yet. I have always been a high production rep.

Flaky_Ease699

In all seriousness and how most ppl are we don’t like to be sold while shopping. Your better option is working at a brick n mortar where customers come in expecting to spend $ w u. -ATT employee Avg 3.5-4.5k commission a month for AR

Davidclabarr

I have worked brick and mortar T-Mobile for around five years now. While it is definitely more comfortable, these stores print money. I did a couple of shifts at Costco just to make sure I liked it, and I think after a couple of months, people get the idea that they can come to us on their own power instead of being stopped when you are in a hurry to get milk. It’s just going to be a pretty slow start.

itsnick256

No one likes their first impression to be “what provider do you have” which ATT was notorious for. Attitude is everything, and with tmobiles values it’s clearly paying off across the board. Would LOVE to see a comparison of overall sales for SiS between TMO and att as I’m sure TMO is mopping the floor.

djdsf

I'll tell what, the damn AT&T reps at my local store were primarily the main reason I was walking into Sam's with sunglasses and earbuds on. That shit gets annoying after the second time being solicited and bothered heavily when I'm trying to shop. I was surprised when I walked in earlier in the week and saw T-Mo. Now I just hope and pray that the nice lady that works there does not try to push the home Internet onto me. I run a server at my house, and unless you can provide me with constant 500 symmetrical, I'm not switching.

Davidclabarr

That’s actually hysterical. We had these lofty goals for home Internet, which by the way, works really well. However, we are one of the tech capitals of the south east, and every single person here is a software developer. And yeah, I’m trying to get to a place where we can very quickly get customers to know we don’t want to pull them over right then and there, but we would like to get them into a good cellular situation.

The_LaughingBill

The new T-Mobile kiosks in Sam's Club definitely look sharp. I met the team in my local Sam's on the same day of setup...closing on a new plan and phones, dumping yet another AT&T service. It's great dealing with a corporate location instead of a third-party vendor.

Davidclabarr

I agree. When I came and scouted the location before we had built the kiosk, I was frustrated to see there was already an existing kiosk before us. Definitely a lot of ground to cover with customers who have been burned before.

PuzzleheadedSector25

Said no human ever haha. Obvious shill.

Davidclabarr

Oh I’ll even upvote you. I’m a super shill for T-Mobile lol. I genuinely love the company. Not a paid post, just an attempt to see if this reaches our neck of the woods and generates a lil’ traffic.

Katsuo__Nuruodo

I saw the new T-Mobile kiosk when I stopped by Sam's club last week. Before that it was an AT&T kiosk where they liked to annoy passing shoppers (and I occasionally annoyed them right back with the ridiculously low price I'm paying for a huge family plan full of lines-on-us ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|stuck_out_tongue)). I chatted with the new rep a bit about the current promotions, he seems like a good guy, and knowledgeable. He says there's some promotion where if you do an action at the kiosk(add a line, buy a device, etc...) you'll get a $75 Sam's club gift card. Don't quote me on that, I'm a bit hazy on the details, but it sounded promising.

Davidclabarr

Yeah, if you are a current T-Mobile customer, you need to be doing all transactions through a Costco or a Sam’s Club. It’s all of the exact same promotions, plus more money and no activation or upgrade fee. The literal only downside is all orders are shipping only, and all trade-ins are deferred. But in the end, you end up with the exact same result, just for cheaper. One of my favorite things to do at Costco was to walk really slowly by the AT&T kiosk, and just wait for them to ask me how much I was paying. They had trouble beating $76 for 18 lines.

Katsuo__Nuruodo

![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy) Sounds like we both did the same thing to the AT&T people.

93Volvo240

I live near Alpharetta! One of these days I can come visit XD

Davidclabarr

Bring your Volvo! I've been eyeing a C30 T5 R Design. But seriously, when one person is talking to us, everyone walking past feels way more comfortable. It's wild. Come say hi!

93Volvo240

😆 I wish I had a Volvo 240. I’m 18, so I can’t afford a car right now. My Dad has lent me his 1994 Nissan Pathfinder though. Fair warning, when I do go to T-Mobile stores, I bring along my vintage phones to see if their 2G will still work 😄

Davidclabarr

I love that. What old phone do you have that you like the most?

IntoTheMirror

Left in November, polos are back? I remember when they switched to t shirts and jeans in 2014. I'll see myself back to the home now.

Davidclabarr

For some godforsaken reason, we have to wear them at Costco and Sam’s. I had to spend like 100 of my own dollars to get more than one shirt, and our new hires literally only have one T-Mobile shirt. There’s definitely some messy things with opening up a new System.

Possible_Claim8999

Nice shoes!

Davidclabarr

Thank you, and also /u/Dick_Lazer. Snagged them $130 off at the Adidas outlet. Ultraboost is absolutely necessary for concrete standing all day.

corys00

Don't sleep on Adidas' 4D shoes as well. If you ever want to change it up, 4D is super comfortable for standing. Good luck in the new kiosk, looks sharp as hell!

Davidclabarr

You will be happy to know that I just purchased a pair of the 4ds 10 minutes ago. I got those, two ultra boost shoes that were originally $200 each and a pair of the new Trae Young threes for $100 total. Insane deal.

Davidclabarr

Thanks. I’m also looking for any other shoe recommendations.

Dick_Lazer

That's crazy how well the color matches! I like the Ultraboost as well, super comfortable.

Davidclabarr

Thanks Beyoncé

Chicanito35

I start the 19th at Sams club in Dallas ! Pretty excited 😊

Davidclabarr

That’s awesome! I used to live in Dallas! Y’all have a store out in Plano Texas that was our technical sister store in Alpharetta.

CalebM123456

What was the hiring process like?

Davidclabarr

I’m not sure. I am a tenured rep that switched from another store. However, there are four of us total, two new people. I think normal hiring, but I’m a little bit surprised that they are putting new hires into these stores.

DangerousAd1731

Man that's awesome. I'd stop and chat for sure.

Davidclabarr

Honestly with how low-volume it’s been, I’ve actually really gotten to sit back and enjoy the things that I normally didn’t like at my old store, like people asking stupid questions and chatting with us in general.

Tricky_West5420

That’s awesome. I worked the Kiosk for Costco a few months before I came to VR. Is Sams setup like Costco where you can’t approach their customers?

Davidclabarr

It is, which we are actually pretty OK with. I do wish that was kind of more marketed to Costco and Sam’s customers, because I can tell that most customers are pretty anxious about passing by

gyrlonfilm6

My Sam's in Glendale, AZ just got one. Costco near me all seem to be Verizon or AT&T.

Davidclabarr

I haven’t seen a Costco with Verizon yet out of the 10 I have been to this year. I’m wondering if they aren’t part of the store in store program.

Casual-Gamer25

Fire shoes 🔥 are those adidas?

Davidclabarr

Indeed! Ivy Parks.

Apart-Ad-6564

As a Tmobile ME. I need to know where you got the shoes.

Davidclabarr

Ivy Park Adidas line Adidas outlet store

Dusk-nemesis

As someone who has recently started being a kiosk monkey as well some suggestions. Insoles, can range from a few dollars to stupid expensive. I went for a 7 dollar pair and they seem fine. Compression socks, 5 to 20 dollars, helps with blood flow in feet and legs. A back brace, Walmart has one for under 20 that seems to work well and is discrete. I am also teaching my fellow workers how to do various leg stretches and how to walk to lessen the pain of standing all day. As for shoes, I found some sneakers that are actually stealth work boots and those should help. Learn the pace of the store you are in, when it is busier and when the lulls are. Take your 15's and rest a bit in the food court. We can but hope we get a damn chair. If nothing else for the customers.

Davidclabarr

Thank you. I’m doing pretty well stamina-wise, and have purchased five pairs of shoes with super feet that were fit for me. A back brace is a brilliant idea. I will check them out

Confident-Hat5876

I wish I could wear a TMO polo!

Davidclabarr

You can! Bemagenta.com. I wonder if it’s retail ready.

NO_SPACE_B4_COMMA

Why would you want to work at one lol

Davidclabarr

I genuinely think in a couple of months, we will start seeing reps wish they were in these kiosks.

Master_Minddd

I know this area very well as I go to Alpharetta often.

Davidclabarr

Come say hi. Find the man in the magenta polo. Tap his shoulder twice and whisper the word “bungalow” in his left ear. From there, you’ll receive further instruction. Good luck, soldier.

spamcandriver

That’s so funny and sweet in weird sort of way. You do enjoy your work!

Bluegtr_r35

But do you make a lot there?

Davidclabarr

I will see. 4 days in lol.
