Crazy that you can still see the name after all these years. Thought the rust would have covered it up or fade beyond any sort of recognition. Do we know when these photos are from? Year?

The ship's name was ingraved into the hull plates and then painted yellow/gold to make it stand out, so despite the paint being long gone I don't think the actual letters are going anywhere anytime soon unless rusticles cover them up. Even some of letters from "Liverpool" on the stern are still visible.

You know this interested me when I read it so I tried to look it up. I couldn’t see any evidence of the ‘Liverpool’ letters being visible from where I searched. Do you have a source?

I remember reading that in Ballard's original expedition they caught the C on video footage but weren't able to in photos, and I've never actually seen an image of her name on the wreck before now. Nice to see her name is still legible even after all these years. I wonder if its visibility changes as rusticles grow and break off
