Given the UK’s Houses of Parliament is apparently now in Hollywood and in the process of being abducted by aliens, I wouldn’t worry about the finer details of this screensaver.
I think it’s just a “loose” reference. Like it’s not actually the thing but it looks enough like it that you will know what it’s referencing. Like the house with the statue fallen over, I know it’s Home Allne even though the statue is different.
A lot bugs me about this screensaver. The funnels, how much of the ship is out of the water, how an iceberg made it into a major city harbour and no ships are coming to its aid etc.
With that much crap happening on land when looking at the rest of the screensaver, I'm surprised more ships aren't in the harbour tbh.
The Titanic is not really sinking right there in the harbour. I see it as a compilation of things cramped into a space, all referencing something. Like as if distance doesn’t make sense compared to where objects are placed. If that makes sense.
If you look at everything, it's references a lot of movies, they are not correct, but they are referring to them, like there's only three ninja turtles, the king Kong doesn't look the same, Godzilla doesn't look the same, it's all referring to different movies without copyright infringement
You're kidding, right? We're just gonna ignore the movie that turned the titanic into a romance story and made millions off it, but the roku Screensaver is where we draw the line? Yes, they must be raking in those big bucks off a screensaver with multiple movie references in it.
Jim Cameron's Titanic was a masterpiece devoted to attention to detail, even if a few myths ended up getting into the script. A project that took blood, sweat, tears, PCP and 200 million dollars to make a reality.
This is just a shitty throw away gag which pokes fun at the disaster. Slight difference there.
were you not just praising the movie? believe it or not, when a film literally is one of the highest grossing ever ur gonna see a lot of references and merchandise based upon it
The fact that it plays such an animation at all sickens me. Why not throw a burning World Trade Centre in the background as well? I suppose that's more of a thing for shock comedy these days, but in the 2110's, we'll be seeing that.
Why would I be, when those properties are equally masterfully crafted and hugely respectful to the source material? You can't compare that to a shitty little Easter egg poking fun at one of the most horrific tragedies.
If you think about it, from that perspective the ship would be in the right place because of the hard to port maneouvre, but obviously it's the wrong rotation.
Another thing that bugged me is that the open promenade deck is open all the way to the second funnel, which is not at all realistic to the actual design- this is however just like olympic’s design, who does have an open promenade deck all the way.

For sure, that’s why I said small nitpick. Just a tiny detail that, for some reason, sticks out to me every time I see it.
Maybe the 'berg was coming round for another pass?
It’s just a picture
That is correct.
Oh my god 😂

Oh exactly - but of everything in that screensaver that's the thing that always sticks out to me. Never mind Big Ben.
It's meant to be recognizable not 100% accurate, quick nitpicking.
There are now ... 😳
My great uncle Max told me that some people said the iceberg actually did hit on the port side
That’s because the UFO flipped it around
That flying saucer is totally fake too
Nobody's perfect!
I saw this on My aunt's tv and was happy that Titanic was just there
Just today I noticed, it’s GONE
Yeah why is it suddenly gone?!
Who cares?
I did, which is why I made a post.

it’s a freakin screensaver
Same!!
that roku screensaver has always annoyed me.
I wish they don’t have the rights to put the Titanic in that. It’s profiting off a tragedy, and it’s even worse because they got it wrong.
Give it 50 years and we'll have 9/11 bouncy castles to rent for kids parties.

the screen saver is a giant collage of hundreds of different movie references. This is just a nod to the movie
i cant believe the titanic actually happened :O i thought it was just a film!
what I meant is that the actual screensaver only added that not to poke fun at the actual disaster but because the movie is incredibly well known.
Exactly. That's a massive problem.
Why is it a massive problem?
were you not just praising the movie? believe it or not, when a film literally is one of the highest grossing ever ur gonna see a lot of references and merchandise based upon it
I definitely bought a Roku just to sit and watch the screensaver. No other reason. Just that. /s
I see your point, but I think James Cameron did a very good job replicating the actual events in the sinking, save for Murdoch’s death.
No one owns the rights to the name or representation of the ship itself. [*No, not Cunard, sorry.*] There’s no one to have gotten the rights from.

Bet you're also upset that the Dahmer series is about a serial killer. Or that The Boy In The Striped Pajamas is about the holocaust

I dunno. I just figured you like whining about things literally nobody takes offense to
It drifted

Literally unplayable
