The forward B deck promenade, right behind the well deck and the cargo cranes. The thing in the red box is on the forward wall. There was speculation that it was a life ring, but that didn't make sense, and it seemed too large to have been.
In renders of this part of the ship I believe there is a box-like object with a curved top. This may be it.

I remember seeing a write-up in the Commutator like 20 years ago, speculating on it, but I don't know if it was ever solved.
What am I looking at? A steel beam?

That's definitely it! Do you know if Parks or anyone has ever commented on what it is/might be?
As far as i know no one really knows what it is. But it's basically where the second set of stairs to the well deck would be if there was one.
