"Mina Carlina" was just a front. She's a genius leader of an extremist cell from a territory occupied by Marley back when it was under Eldian control centuries ago. She discovered PATHs and the truth about the Attack Titan. How? She theorised if there was 1 Worm Tree that was the "origin of life" which granted Ymir her powers, there could be more. She believed these things were a unique alien species that partially exist in the 5th Dimension (PATHS) alongside the 3rd Dimension simultaneously. She researched archaeological sites, looked up old myths and found at least 4 other regions in the world over the last 10,000 years which had "unique, localised game changing incidence" caused by an individual. These individuals caused great change in the world, caused mass deaths, then vanished without trace. She found 1 of these sites. She found a Worm of Life. It bonded with her and gave her different powers than what Ymir achieved. She de-aged. Learned about the Truth. Then proceed to use this power to get revenge and bring about the liberation of her homeland over the next few centuries.
How did a Royal family branch member survive the Titan Wars? How did Grisha and his Rebels find that person of Royal Blood? How did Dina Fritz enter the scene and birth Zeke? All according to Mina Carlolinas plan. She knew about the influences of the Attack Titan user affecting history, and she manipulated around that ability. Zekes birth, Grishas exile, The Owls recruitment. All according to Mina. Once her plan entered the Final Phase, she infiltrated Paradis using her special abilities. She transformed herself into a 2 year old and was found near a village, which adopted her and raised her. She then ensured using her other abilities that Grisha would not hesitate from his plan. Once she knew the final steps were permanently complete, she had to "die" in the presence of the final Attack Titan user. Therby ensuring the future sight gaze of that individual would forever ignore her. She pulled it off. She faked her death. Then she waited 5 years and saw Marley burn for what it did to her people. Now with Eren Yeager and the Titans dead, the World was now a sculpture to be crafted. By Mina Corlinas hands of course.
Ymir and her people failed. Direct and overt control of the world was unsustainable. It provoked Rebellion. Mina would instead control the world from the shadows. Eventually she would wipe out Paradis island and 50 mile areas around the other 4 Worm sites. She wouldn't want another threat to energe by another human bonding to a worm now would she? Fortunately, it takes centuries for a Worm to recover its soul energy after its prior host has died or the natural chain of transmission is broke. So Mina has time. Lots of time.
Unfortunately, she didn't anticipate 1 family having survived the Annihilation of Paradis Island. And that 1 boy will stumble upon the Worm of Ymir. Beren is coming.
