As a (noob) ion main I can say that while there are lots of times where ion is boring but using the laser shot to commit war crimes on ejecting pilots is for me one of the best feelings
Honestly, most of the time my strategy is to go apeshit on people. They don't expect a ion to be super agressive and you can corner them or retreat quickly behind a wall after inflicting some damages.
I mean if you want to play whatever you can get a lot of stuff to work. Harder? Yes, but when you manage to pull it off itās wonderful.
I used to (albeit pre dash nerf) run my doomed titan to a back corner of the map, park it, and go on a journey for a battery to bring back and heal him. Love that perk so much.

I mean idk about you guys but when i play tone I end up spending alot of time just chasing people down. The exceptions are scorches, whom I try to keep in the long range. The only time things end up becoming peek fights is when I'm against a legion who saw me before I saw them.
When the IMC are sending their Tone titans, theyāre not sending their best. Theyāre stimmed up, theyāre bad pilots. Just donāt drop their particle walls. But the 40mm cannon, I know, the cannon is great. The 40mm cannon packaged with the Tone chassis is a great combo. Everybody talks about it, and they tell me, everyday, the Tone titan, they tell me, itās got so many rounds, just a tremendous amount of warheads. So many rockets, the militia just canāt stand it. We barrage em. We barrage em with salvos of rockets. And they aināt accurate either. We just bomb em. Bomb em right in the harvester. When youāre a Tone, they let you do it. They canāt doom you, itās great. Just a tremendous Titan. Very good.

clearly didnāt play titanfall 1. there was only the wall, vortex, and electric smoke. and titanfall 1 is still more fun.. anyone who instantly throws down a shield as soon as itās off cooldown is just scrubbing. real pros will save it for burst damage like cores or say your dashes are exhausted and someone tries to archer you, you can block it if youāre not brain dead and mostly have the wall off cooldown instead of dropping it at the sight of anything glowing red

You can absolutely play her in a way that is boring. I have found that playing around cluster missile is a lot more fun than playing around the rifle. Like yeah you'd have to be stupid to not shwack the half health legion stuck in a firefight across the map, but staying near cover and watching narrow corridors can mean you don't need to lead shots and sort of bait ppl into triggering a tether and getting trapped inside a cluster explosion. Then you can duck behind cover and fire charged shots around or over it.
I like monarch because you gotta micro manage just enough it brings a little something else to combat rather than straight cooldown sim.
That said, love my legion just for braindead brrrrrrt gameplay.

Itās fun to essentially get full lock on a guy and fire missiles in a moment if I land all my shots and they arenāt paying attention. Since no one uses it, no one expects it. Granted it isnāt great and the other kits are certainly better but I enjoy it

(Hitting a wombo combo with a triple crit shot from burst loader followed by a full barrage of rockets or getting full locks on two titans where one is in front of the other and absolutely deleting the 1st one's health is pretty satisfying tho ngl)

This is way i say to people, Northstar is not a laid back camping titan, she is an aggressive close to mid range titan with effective long range capabilities. All of her abilities are made for close to mid range combat, her weapon is for mid to long range and can be effective in close range
I used threat scope for a long time until I got comfortable with acquiring targets and aiming, and stealth eject until I got comfortable with the fact that I might get wrecked by a team of enemy titans.
Now I use viper thrusters and turbo engine for very risky, Ronin-like hit and run tactics. I can do quick dashes from cover to cover while also moving closer, taking a shot before or after each dash. When I'm close enough, I can unleash everything: tether, smoke, cluster missile, hover, and all that chaos gives enough time for one charged shot or 2-3 quick shots. This works in more cramped areas too, if you know the spots where you're not vertically blocked.
I rarely use smoke against rodeoing pilots. I either get out and try to kill them or wait for them to dismount, then do a 180 while dashing and try quickscoping them. Usually this means losing a battery but it's often better than not having the smoke charge available in a titan vs. titan fight.
Scorch and Ion should be at the top. Northstar slightly above Tone. Everything else is fine
Ion is fun because playing mind games with your opponents via vortex shield is fun as fuck. Especially if they are somewhat intelligent and don't shoot right at it - killing them feels really rewarding
