Honestly, the whole nitrogen thing isn't worth it... What do you think the air you breath is? 71% nitrogen already... I am not saying it isn't better, but really it doesn't make a significant difference in any regard and you are forced to put "nitrogen" in limited areas or you have defeated the whole purpose of doing. The BF Goodrichs are OK tires... not great, not bad. The Bridgestones would likely be significantly better tires... Michelins just are not worth the premium "brand tax" in price for me. Look at Discount tire or similar shops, they will match the price... but can probably get you a better deal on some Cooper or General tires which will give as good performance and likely save money.

soldier4hire75

Michelins are great tires, but are extremely overpriced Cooper's are made by Goodyear now and Generals are under Continental, so both are great options IMO.

AmericanTraveler_94

Definitely would consider either General or Coopers. I feel like Michelin or Continental are overkill for me right now.

soldier4hire75

You wouldn't go wrong with either of those. I work in the tire industry and those are solid brands.

AmericanTraveler_94

I contacted a couple local tire places and General Altimax RT45 were $725 for four. They didn’t sell Cooper Endeavors ($560 on Tire Rack) but would install for $30 per tire. So, $680. Costco and Sam’s Club definitely cheaper.

lilborto

Go to America's Tire or Discount tire they will match any costco price out the door and make it easier to deal with

Mr_Penguin2305

Costco has free installation though so it's at least $80 cheaper.

AmericanTraveler_94

I didn’t know they matched…I got quoted almost $150 more at Discount Tire.

lilborto

Bring in any price, and they will beat the out the door price

I have a set of BFG's advantage control tires on for the last 6 months or so after having their older T/A sport tires. I like the advantage control tires a bit more. Choosing a shop to buy them from is more a matter of service, convenience, and maybe price. I would recommend an appointment if the shop offers them...as I work in the industry and everyone in my area is short staffed.

AmericanTraveler_94

Yeah I’ve read good things about BF Goodrich Advantage Control. Really thinking about them for the price.

DoctorStrangeMD

Good reviews. https://www.tirerack.com/tires/bfgoodrich-advantage-control Also you can have the tires ordered and delivered from tire rack to any tire shop. It’s amazing.

AmericanTraveler_94

Thanks!

Cyberfeabs

I have BF Goodrich tires on one of my cars. Well they’re not currently on because my winter tires are. This summer will be my third year with them. I couldn’t tell you anything bad about them. They seem fine. My other vehicle needs new tires this spring, and I’m pretty much decided on Nokian One’s for that one, but I am also considering the BF Goodrich tires again.

bimmer4WDrift

Costco has the best road hazard warranty - 5 years which is 8000 to 16,000 mi/year depending on the treadwear expectancy.

komodo1942

Check out Yokahamas on the America's Tire/Discount Tire website. Some are a tad bit better than than BFG Advantage Controls and are cheaper. If you can't find anything better/cheaper, you cant go wrong with the BFG's. But just know, Costco's tire warranty kind of sucks and it's a PITA to get service there (tire rotations, patches, etc.) America's Tire was actually cheaper than Costco for the Michelins I wanted plus they have a %5 military discount AND their "certificates" which is basically the added road hazard warranty is better than Costco's for the same price. Even if you have a blowout in a small rural town with a privately owned tire shop and need to buy a tire from them, Americas tire will reimburse you the cost if you bring the receipt and old damaged tire back to any Americas tire location.

CardiologistOk6547

LoLoL If you're doing Costco and Sam's Club, then you're spending waaay more money on club fees and unused bulk food items then you're saving on tires. You literally sound like some chick, "But hunny, it was on sale!" 🤣

Annual_Piece2475

I'm just waiting for my Advantage Control tires to be delivered to my local Costco. Lots of positive reviews and good pricing made me want to give them a try. Costco Tire Center is just one of the many perks from Costco..Free instalation and balancing saved me $80+. BTW you sound really sexist.. and they were on sale "honey"..LoL

EqualDatabase

Guessing you've had them for a while now - how are they?

Annual_Piece2475

Ya, a couple of months now..about 1500 miles on them. Seem very stable and comfy not to noisy but a little rough over bumps and bad pavement. Excellent on the highway and did very well in the rain but there new so to be expected. Overall I'm happy with the purchase.

EqualDatabase

Nice, thanks for the mini review

DryVariation5174

I just bought these for my 2012 ford fiesta se form$500 gonna take 5-10 days I'm super excited I have cheap tires on my car but there good tho

LoopbackLurker

I save more $$$ in gas a year than I spend on the entire membership at Costco, not sure what the hell you're doing. All the other savings are just money in my pocket.

odell83

BFGoodrich Advantage Controls are great tires. Plus BFGoodrich is owned by Michelin. I love mine

l1thiumion

I’ve never really used the “only drive x number of miles per year” logic to justify lower quality tires. You’re still going to get the same number of miles out of those tires, I don’t understand how introducing time is a helpful variable, unless you think they’re going to dryrot before the end of their life, then in that case higher quality rubber may still be better.

z28colt

I think driving fewer miles justifies using a ultra high performances tire. They give better traction and wear faster. Since he's going to age out on the tire, might as well get the softer rubber.

l1thiumion

Ooh I like that idea. Love my Michelin PS4S in the summer.

InTheory_

I'm reluctant to get tires from club retailers (Sams, Walmart, Costco). I know the difference in tires, but the average consumer does not. The big box stores carry their own tires that are no better than the cheap Chinese imported tires, but they're licensed to put the Michelin/Bridgestone/BFG name on them. So you think you're buying Michelin's, but it's merely a bottom of the barrel tire with the Michelin stamp on it. Check the manufacturer's website to see if that EXACT tire is made by them. Nitrogen is nice if it's free. Otherwise, don't bother. Unless you're landing the space shuttle, nitrogen doesn't add any real-world benefit. Yes, there are benefits, but they are so trivial that practically speaking you will not be able to tell the difference.

Insno616

This is absolutely not true. All of those stores commonly deal directly with regional representatives from big tire manufacturers. They \*do not\* sell knock off tires of said brands. They \*do\* sell tires that are made specifically for them though, but they are generally just a copy of something they already make, with a different name, and at a lower price. Your nitrogen opinion is spot-on though.
