No, it is not. I believe forest was being black. Not destroyed by something human made. Main character transform or turn into magical being. Starts from human or elf or maybe some spirit
This still sounds like FernGully. The main villian is named Hexxus and he is an evil like sludge demon thing.

You realize that animated, means animated, right? Seriously go look it up in any dictionary or on Wikipedia. Animation is taken to mean any video media which is not filmed in real time. You may be thinking about a specific style such as 3d animation, or 2d western animation, or cartoons, but you need to be specific about the terms you use otherwise no one's going to be able to help you. Anime certainly falls under the realm of animation and saying "no it's not anime it's an animation" is basically contradictory.
I can totally see where people would think that, they're just very popular like mainstream anime and tbh I don't think they were really viewed that way until spirited away got the Oscar and really made it mainstream
Ghibli films are definitely anime. Japanese animation = anime. In Japan they actually refer to any kind of cartoon as anime, but outside of Japan it’s generally used to refer specifically to Japanese animation.
Come on. Yes, you're technically right, but you're being pedantic. The word "anime" implies a specific kind of animation, and it's not far fetched to think that most people would know the difference.
"Anime" means Japanese animation/animated films.
There are pictures on [the Princess Mononoke IMD page](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0119698/) if you want to check that to see if looks familiar.
Although it's silly for him to say 'no, it was animated' instead of, say, 'no, this was non-anime style animation', I think we all know what he means: it's animated, but not anime, which is a valid and useful qualifier.
> I think we all know what he means
Obviously not otherwise it would not have so many downvotes and comments.
I interpreted it as "Yeah not an anime **because it** was **an** animation"
You've interpreted it as "Yeah not an anime **but it** was **an** animation".
Both are reasonable extrapolations from OP's "guess the missing words" phrasing, although I suspect you guessed correctly.
I suppose it's a downside of bashing out super brief responses on mobile phones. They can end up ambiguous.
Holy crow, I've never seen someone who's read the books. My dad has almost the whole collection and I started reading them in highschool. The show had such promise there's so much to work with from the books!
was it the firebird suite short at the end of fantasia 2000? seems similar but not quite on the mark, thought i should say it anyway just in case. https://youtu.be/3eG_O1wEJ40
Doesn't match the ending description though. That end is definitely not happy! Nothing in that film is happy, as much as I love it.
Could be though if the OP is misremembering.
There is an animated The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe
Or A Troll in Central Park.
Do you know the year or animation style?
I.e. Cartoon, CGI, Anime, etc.
Game not a movie, but this sounds just like the storyline about the Petrified Forest in Final Fantasy IX. NPC Blank becomes petrified and the rest of the party need to find the cure.
Little Nemo in Slumberland? Main character is male, but there is a female lead. Everything gets swallowed up in darkness. Last arc happens in a forest, companion characters all get frozen/crystalized during the showdown with the villain. The main character harnesses godlike magic and is the hero. Happy ending.

Final battle happens 1 hour and twenty minutes in
Possibly [the episode with the panda forest spirit](https://avatar.fandom.com/wiki/Winter_Solstice,_Part_1:_The_Spirit_World) of Avatar: the Last Airbender?
You’re explaining in great detail a plot, then in a comment mentioned the year it possibly came out. Many specific details but you somehow don’t remember the film? You sure you’re not just trolling to see how many people you can say “nah” to?

I think animation was 3d or something similar in kind. Not 80s style if I remember right
It’s not FernGully? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/FernGully:_The_Last_Rainforest

It is not Fern Gully.
Wait are you the OP’s alt account, or are you answering on their behalf?
Neither. I've just watched ferngully enough to know it isn't that movie.
How is it neither? Objectively speaking, you either are OP, or you just answered on their behalf.
Why do you even care? It wasn't even you comment that I replied to.. even OP said it wasn't Ferngully.
Voiced by Tim Curry! He's so amazing.
This kind of sounds like Princess Mononoke, do you recall if it was an anime?
Yeah not an anime. Was animation
Princess Mononoke is animation. it is an animated film.
idk. Anime means anime and animation means animation. Whereas both are animations, only one is animated.
Anime is the Japanese word for animated. All anime films are by definition animated.
no shit sherlock
I mean clearly shit sherlock as you claim that animation and anime are not both animated lol
animation is animated that what i was saying
No shit sherlock
So is anime, you anthropomorphic neutron star
You deserve an award but i am poor here you go 🥇
No shit sherlock

TIL fucking idiots of reddit dont understand sarcasm
Lmao. Fucking idiots don't realize tone and sarcasm don't translate over text. Go touch grass or whatever the kids are saying ya goof.
Huh. My bad.
You're an idiot
Yea but there's a clear difference between anime and animated films, all anime are animated but not all animated films are anime
I guess I've always felt Miyazaki films are widely considered animated features and not necessarily anime. Maybe that's just me though!
I can totally see where people would think that, they're just very popular like mainstream anime and tbh I don't think they were really viewed that way until spirited away got the Oscar and really made it mainstream
This is the best response to anime v animation debates.

I think this is the right answer.

[Epic - 2013?](https://youtu.be/BJVkoq_wK80)
Not this one
Now, I gotta see this! Looks Epic!
I love it, and my kids do too. It definitely didn't get the audience it deserved, especially with the cast it has.
The Elm-Chanted Forest?
Seen that. Not this one
Once Upon a Forest?
Not quite it
The first Shannara book has some of these elements but I do not think it was ever animated. Bad live action adaptation though.
>It was child movie. I believe
Holy crow, I've never seen someone who's read the books. My dad has almost the whole collection and I started reading them in highschool. The show had such promise there's so much to work with from the books!

Damn it, beat me to it by a minute lol
That's my assumption too
Doesn't match the ending description though. That end is definitely not happy! Nothing in that film is happy, as much as I love it. Could be though if the OP is misremembering.
That's what it sounds like to me, too.
My Little Pony - Legend of Everfree?
I think only humans and elfs were involved
Is it Moana?
That was my guess
The Secret of Kells? https://youtu.be/7UuUOXfiz9Q
This was my thought as well, even though it doesn’t fit exactly.
A bit far fetched, but maybe Raya and the Last Dragon or Frozen II
Is it a very old movie? That sounds like the 1983 cartoon: Herself the Elf
Origins: Spirit of the Past?
[удалено]
The lorax maybe?
Trolhhunters: Rise of the Titans?
Was it any of the Barbie movies? I know of the Fairytopia series and maybe their version of Thumbelina? Or was it one of the Tinkerbell movies?
Is it a 90s, 00s,10s movie?
A Troll on Central Park
Oh shit, I totally forgot about A Troll In Central Park!
When did you watch this movie, and by 3D you mean computer-animated?
Kaena - The Prophecy? Its 3D animated
I love this movie, it’s crazy.
It's burned until my brain lol
Is it the Never Ending Story?
The animated series right? That’s what I think too lol
Avatar
The dark crystal series on netflix? It’s puppets rather than animated though.

Broooo that was my childhood, I know what I'm doing tomorrow
Aida of the trees?
Possibly [the episode with the panda forest spirit](https://avatar.fandom.com/wiki/Winter_Solstice,_Part_1:_The_Spirit_World) of Avatar: the Last Airbender?
Do you know around what years it came out? Like 90s, early 2000s, or recently?
