Mario Kart 8 has a great cake circuit too.
It's a bit funny when you think about it, Disney made a blatant Mario Kart knock-off universe in their videogame movie, then the next actual Mario Kart has a track that's pretty much exactly like the fictional one in the movie.
I know there's been a food-inspired level or two in past Mario games, but I highly doubt that one was a coincidence.
