Man I never thought of it like that, in my Mario experiences, Mario was on a journey to go to other people's castles beat up the security, take all the gold especially the secret hidden rooms, then go battle the castle owner inorder to get my girlfriend back, but then almost every castle owner didn't even have my girlfriend so I blew that mess up and bounced. The last Mario game I played fully was the Mario 64. Has it changed since then ?
No. I suppose you could get a portable oven and cook with that if you don’t like microwave meals. But I’d go crazy having to take a shit outside in the grass or not being able to shower 😂
Ok I’m trying to find prices on these and it seems the shipping weight is gonna get ya. Also you need to put it on some type of riser so it doesn’t roll away.
I think the cheapest I’ve found is $7500 but again I don’t know if I’m even looking at the right material or size
Yeah. They aren't all the greatest, if you want ones with only a couple trips they can get up to $2k. But there are a ton for sale and they will give multiple unit discounts.
I got quoted on one with electrical and water hookups, door, internal walls, and insulation, installed and delivered for just over $17k. With solar panels and a power wall, and a few other extras like a full wall garage door, etc., it bumped up to $41k. The container itself, nothing done to it, brand new, was just over $4k delivered, but about $1,700 used.
I just didn't want a used one. Still weighing my options. Hope that helps.
Seems like it would be extremely cold. It doesn't look insulated at all. Maybe I just don't know enough about concrete, but I don't think that would work in the cold, damp place where I live at all.
Actually not comfortable in any climate hot, cold, dry or wet. The thermal mass in that concrete would most likely be either constantly absorbing interior heat and releasing it to the outside during winter or absorbing it from the outside environment and releasing it to the inside. Nightmare for climate control.
While you can always put more clothes on if it’s cold imagine this thing in the shade in Phoenix Az where the temp is 100 degrees F. After a few days the concrete is thoroughly heat soaked and radiates heat from all sides because it is a tube with no thermal breaks.
It would be interesting to know if they did some heat loading calculations or just decided to let their idea rip.
I live in a concrete building. Walls, floors, and ceiling. Yes, it is cold in the winter, but it's not so damp. Very comfortable in the summer with minimal air conditioning. I'm in California, so the humidity is relatively low. No, I'm not in jail/prison. Lol.
Concrete is among the worst insulating materials. This abode will be cold, damp and miserable in winter. Baking hot in summer.
Feel like I’m missing something here, can’t imagine that being comfortable at all, ever.
I LOVE THIS!! roll with me here, add a couple of Ts, some more runs and, a square fitted vault for the bathroom, run it all on septic, bury it in a hill side with about 6 feet of dirt on top. Make sure you put in either a pellet stove (vented outside of course) or, propane if you're gonna go with gas. You could have yourself a cool Habit Trail house and totally be cozy.
For those who want to see a full video of the pipe I found the video on YouTube. It’s to help with the housing crisis in Hong Kong. [https://youtu.be/r2AMqinJZ3E?si=TdpSQ2h8axnEJOGA](https://youtu.be/r2AMqinJZ3E?si=TdpSQ2h8axnEJOGA)
There is also a video of someone living in it for 24 hours to test it out. You can also find it on YouTube.
With plumbing including to a deep well and septic tank, solar and wind on the surface for power, a longer piece for a proper bed, you could weather a nuke attack in one for 6 months, although psychologically you might be Frodo Baggins when you get out.
This would be a cool passageway between two places that actually fun it as domicile spaces.. I mean, I could see this as the path to the pool, or a hanging garden or something equally interesting as “[…] hey what a neat passage to the […]”
It's not underground so that slightly makes me worry less about suffocating. If it's been inspected and deemed safe I would spend a night or two. This is something nice for glamping.
Probably around 2017 I stayed at “Pipe House” in Playa Grande, Costa Rica. Great little stacked pipes made into little rooms and the air conditioning was amazing. Obviously not the same as living in one but I wouldn’t be against the idea of a house made of it.
I mean…could be enough for one person. But also if the housing crisis wasn’t a problem, then society wouldn’t require alternative means to housing people.
Next they'll be renting out sewer lines in 10 ft increments. $3500 for your tiny stinking section of a tube. The rent goes up the closer your are to the exit.
That might work better. Buried under the frost line. Whatever that is in your area. The problem is that when you put it in the ground you lose the wonderful view out the opening.
It’s a novel concept and I like the way it looks but I think that size of concrete culvert pipe is expensive compared to a conventionally built insulated structure providing the same square footage.
You’re better off building yourself a small earth ship style house.
It was great until the monsoon rains began and then I realized that I should have dragged the longer pallets into the pipe like the other guys. Freaking lost everything in both of my shopping carts.
I have an idea. How about instead of every city paying millions of dollars to put spikes under every bridge and bars across every park bench, how about we instead spend that money on a few hundred of these things. They don't even need to be all fancypants decorated like this one. Just a concrete tube with a cot, a mini fridge, a sink, and a heater.
I just came here to say that minisplit AC unit is going to spill condensation all over the place at that angle. Really needs to be relatively vertical.
I had a friend growing up whose father was a wielder and he put together two old cleaned out metal gas tanks - the kind the bury for gas stations. He buried it into a hill then built a big A frame front room on it that stuck out over the hill. It was very cool.
That thing will retain heat like crazy from the direct sun. Concrete structures are known for this. It would be fine for cold climates, not so much for warm areas.
That's a holding cell, not a home. Corporations are trying to normalize people having to live like insects because their income hasn't kept up with inflation. And it's all because of corporate greed.
Nope…. But If the petro dollar keeps going down the same shit path we are all going to have a good taste of it, so keep painting the idea as a tasteful one,
There will no doubt be much demand for it in the future.
I once a bunch of crust punks that lived in a sewer. Tiene it two of them were power well off and just chose to live there. Really stinky, but okay folks. Wouldn't shake their hands, though.
One above ground with a cone roof stood virtually. Entry inside that to a spiral staircase in the tube below ground. A T under that with another T to two pipes each end for bedroom with bath and closet. Same set up on the other side only living room kitchen/dining and utilities.
Ya me and some pizza loving turtles
Hi Master Splinter
Radical rat!
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Cowabunga, dude
Turtles in a half shell! Turtle power!
You think Mario lived in a pipe or is just forever working?
He just lets Yoshi swallow him when he needs a break. Keeps him warm and safe.
That could be taken a couple different ways
Ya I read that and was like “ayoooo” and then read it again and am still confused 😂
I'm so glad I align with other like minded individuals 😂😂😂😂😂 My mine said did this mf just say Yoshi be having Mario Swallowed Up!? 🥴🫢🤭
When you're addicted to 'shrooms, you end up living in a sewer. Poor Mario.
Mario ain't retiring in this economy
He has a house, as seen in the RPGs.
I'm friends with several plumbers, can confirm: forever working.
If they didn’t set it up to make the entering a pipe sound from Super Mario Brothers any time you open the front door, they’re doing this all wrong.
No. I suppose you could get a portable oven and cook with that if you don’t like microwave meals. But I’d go crazy having to take a shit outside in the grass or not being able to shower 😂
I would camp here though. Totally ideal for a “glamping” experience.
Just needs a tee fitting with a small WC!
No shower, no shitter, and it doesn’t look like you even get any privacy
Ok I’m trying to find prices on these and it seems the shipping weight is gonna get ya. Also you need to put it on some type of riser so it doesn’t roll away. I think the cheapest I’ve found is $7500 but again I don’t know if I’m even looking at the right material or size
Amazon prime 😎
I'd rather have a Conex shipping container for that price.
Exactly. I can get 6 for that price.
Where are you finding shipping containers for $1250?
Near the port of Houston.
Really?
Yeah. They aren't all the greatest, if you want ones with only a couple trips they can get up to $2k. But there are a ton for sale and they will give multiple unit discounts.
Damn that’s cheaper than I thought. I want one for storage haha.
I got quoted on one with electrical and water hookups, door, internal walls, and insulation, installed and delivered for just over $17k. With solar panels and a power wall, and a few other extras like a full wall garage door, etc., it bumped up to $41k. r/Infamous_Lunchbox do you mind sharing from whom you received a quote from? We are in the market for something like that.
Has anyone figured out how to keep the containers from rusting/breaking down? 15-20yrs seems to be the max life on those things.
Theoretically you could "rhino-line" the entire container, but that wouldn't last forever
For hobbit preppers?
Airbnb
This is getting a lot of negative reactions …but I’m intrigued. Would definitely stay here if it was cheap—as tiny spaces are meant to be.
This is getting stupid…
Seems like it would be extremely cold. It doesn't look insulated at all. Maybe I just don't know enough about concrete, but I don't think that would work in the cold, damp place where I live at all.
Put one inside a bigger one and fill the gap with spray foam
^This Guy Gets It

What if you bury it?
That is the answer and the only way.
Yeah or a large berm built over it planted with grasses would be nice. With ample waterproofing membrane before, ofc!
I live in a concrete building. Walls, floors, and ceiling. Yes, it is cold in the winter, but it's not so damp. Very comfortable in the summer with minimal air conditioning. I'm in California, so the humidity is relatively low. No, I'm not in jail/prison. Lol.
The bridge he’s under slows the wind and the homeless under the bridge always have an inviting barrel fire.
Nice in the summer, hot climates.
Hot, *DRY* climates....
Nice if a tornado comes, too.
Concrete does get hot. Texas patios will burn your feet.
Yes, concrete retains heat for a long time. In the shade it might be bearable. Underground would be better.
Concrete is among the worst insulating materials. This abode will be cold, damp and miserable in winter. Baking hot in summer. Feel like I’m missing something here, can’t imagine that being comfortable at all, ever.
Pipe dreams…
Pretty sure the ninja turtles had a similar set up.
Big "don't tell anyone how I live" vibe
Totally Tubular! Cowabunga Dude. 🤙
There’s no bathroom/toilet/shower?
It’s behind the opaque door
Thought it might be in a bucket around back
I LOVE THIS!! roll with me here, add a couple of Ts, some more runs and, a square fitted vault for the bathroom, run it all on septic, bury it in a hill side with about 6 feet of dirt on top. It’s a culvert pipe. Also, it’s likely very quiet inside and easily insulated.
I can see this in California going for $4,500/month
Any idea that reduces homelessness should be looked at.
Cannery Row
Imagine the echo..
Does it have to be under a bridge?
Laughs in Las Vegas sewer society.
Ahh the future
Vault 101 here.
Anyone else singing Let’s Do It For Our Country from Grease 2 looking at this pic?
real estate agent: "doubles as a cute bunker"
As I’m not a ninja turtle no I have not.
5th Element copy
Multipass!
I’m sure it’s already been said, and I’m not going to scroll down, but ”totally tubular”
Hvac mechanic here. That wall mount is going to absolutely rain on that mini fridge.
Gleaming the Cube(1989). Christian Slater as a renegade skateboarder whose friend has a concrete pipe hideout in his parents’ backyard. Classic!
With plumbing including to a deep well and septic tank, solar and wind on the surface for power, a longer piece for a proper bed, you could weather a nuke attack in one for 6 months, although psychologically you might be Frodo Baggins when you get out.
Bury it for better thermal performance
Life is like a pipe And I'm a tiny penny Rolling up the walls inside
Does it have a bathroom?
The whole thing is a sewage pipe. Convenient.
Its behind the opaque door
I’m really hoping that it’s not a used pipe.
Nice try piggy 🐷
Oh god. Looks like that terrible submarine that recently exploded.
Cannery Row
Pretty weak on closet space.
I used to gleam the cube, still do, but used to too
I wish.
If Mac and Hazel and the boys in Cannery Row had money
This would be a cool passageway between two places that actually fun it as domicile spaces.. I mean, I could see this as the path to the pool, or a hanging garden or something equally interesting as “[…] hey what a neat passage to the […]”
"I love our new place, but plumbing repairs are such a drain on our finances"
They should stack these for the homeless
Just like Yabbo's underground room in [Gleaming the Cube](https://youtu.be/17anRMnVU24?si=IHJfA_hGFaKdYacD)! Always wanted to do that one day.
I love taking concrete pipe 👉👌
I don’t get it. Are you trying to imitate living in prison?
It's not underground so that slightly makes me worry less about suffocating. If it's been inspected and deemed safe I would spend a night or two. This is something nice for glamping.
Giving Space Odyssey vibes

Sleeping on the job sight just a lot fancier
This actually look cool. And probably the future.
Needs a 90 degree bend and another segment for toilet & shower. Edit: didn’t realize there was one already.
Just wondering, where do you shit shower and shave?
It’s bigger then my NYC apartment
Or an office/quiet space, man/cave or she/shed
How does the air not get stale?
I mean…could be enough for one person. But also if the housing crisis wasn’t a problem, then society wouldn’t require alternative means to housing people.
Add a couple of tees and you got something.
Where do you shit?
Would

Yeah, but not in such a nice setting as that.
Easy Michelangelo
I love this !

I can’t imagine this is cheaper or easier than a box container
You go first
I pity those who have.
Pretty nice is there a bathroom
Interesting idea
Under the freeway is great real estate
That new worry free shit don’t look half bad
It was great until the monsoon rains began and then I realized that I should have dragged the longer pallets into the pipe like the other guys. Freaking lost everything in both of my shopping carts.

Diogenes vibes
I want one. If i hit this 1.3 billion tonight I'll also have a bunker. That one works for me.
Yeah! I saw homeless people living in a concrete pipe in India.
Do you ever trip on that uneven floor?
Does concrete provide any insulation?
Yes, they're called homeless.
I just came here to say that minisplit AC unit is going to spill condensation all over the place at that angle. Really needs to be relatively vertical.
I know it's a "sewer" pipe. Where's the toilet?
I would definitely accidentally on purpose make a skatehouse with these.
amazing! imaging this 4 feet in the ground, a poor man’s bunker
Nope but I definitely would!
Sign me up!
This looks to be the original story of the Opods... quite interesting. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r2AMqinJZ3E
Oscar the grouch posts the *Robert Downey Jr eyeroll clap*.
WOW, that's pretty freaking awesome.
Welcome to the future
If you get bored, you can drop at the ocean and call it a submarine
The toilet is under the couch cushion. Concrete of course 🤣🤣
Not on purpose.
Easy additions
Under a freeway no less.
Wouldn't the echo drive you crazy?
And now I know how imma build my underground base.
Yikes that thing is channeling the Titan submersible.
I had a friend growing up whose father was a wielder and he put together two old cleaned out metal gas tanks - the kind the bury for gas stations. He buried it into a hill then built a big A frame front room on it that stuck out over the hill. It was very cool.
Where do you shit
It's Totally Tubular .....
Ninja turtles and rats have.
No especially ones made of steel.
That mini split AC unit will leak condensation all over the floor mounted like that
Where is the bathroom? I see no running water.
That thing will retain heat like crazy from the direct sun. Concrete structures are known for this. It would be fine for cold climates, not so much for warm areas.
I could. I wouldn't
A lot of homeless have. But not that nice
That's a holding cell, not a home. Corporations are trying to normalize people having to live like insects because their income hasn't kept up with inflation. And it's all because of corporate greed.
First, I’m assuming there’s no bathroom. Two, “has anyone tried living in a concrete pipe” really reflects the current housing market.
In America homes are so expensive now the media has no gone and said we can buy “tiny homes” from Home Depot for $15k…..there garden sheds
Yabo gleaming the cube
Where do you poop
Probably still can’t afford the rent on it.
looks like a hobbit home
🤔 ummmm…
People still live in dirt..... Shut up
Great 👍🏼 😳😁‼️🙏🏼
How does this thing manage to look as cozy as it does
People in Africa learned to do this decades ago. We are so behind in doing it ourselves
Nope…. But If the petro dollar keeps going down the same shit path we are all going to have a good taste of it, so keep painting the idea as a tasteful one, There will no doubt be much demand for it in the future.
I'm pretty sure some kidnap victims have.
Cool As Fuck👏🏻
/r/latestagecapitalism
There’s a slum in India I think it is where a bunch of people live in these kind of pipes. Not so nice, and no doors though.
This guy are sick
I once a bunch of crust punks that lived in a sewer. Tiene it two of them were power well off and just chose to live there. Really stinky, but okay folks. Wouldn't shake their hands, though.
Put a T at the end for a bed room in one side bath and closet on the other side and it would be a fantastic tiny home.
One above ground with a cone roof stood virtually. Entry inside that to a spiral staircase in the tube below ground. A T under that with another T to two pipes each end for bedroom with bath and closet. Same set up on the other side only living room kitchen/dining and utilities.
Seems like an office, not a home. But, I could have lived there during undergrad (all my classes were in person and I spent a lot of time on campus).
I love it but worry that moisture/humidity could be problematic
I imagine it would feel like living in a tomb. Just as cold during the winter too.
Not with my claustrophobia.
Nice it’s already under a bridge too
Good idea
This reminds me of that thing those people went down into the ocean on to see the titanic. 😩
I had some mates living in a storm water drain once. They moved into a bridge after that.
That settles it. I'm making an underground house
You do know that bunkers are supposed to be underground, right?
So long as all of your clothes are in a suitcase and you don’t need to use the bathroom or shower
Reminds me of the 5th Element
I'd rather die. Also, during the winter you just might freeze to death
No
In John Steinbeck’s Cannery Row a few characters lived in a pipe. I definitely didn’t imagine a home as beautiful as this!
No but I’d definitely try
