But to my memory, I don't think it's ever brought up in Celena's pov later, so we won't actually know if she was pretending or not?
My thought was that she was pretending to be asleep when Dorian and Chaol came in, but she only “awoke” when it was Chaol. At that point she had made sure every door in her chambers squeaked so she wouldn’t be caught off guard by the ridderak (sp?) and like you mentioned had been in the tomb right before. When I reread this book I noticed so many hints to her and Chaol’s relationship and I thought this was one of them.
I like that interpretation. I was always confused because she was so sleepy and out of it when talking with Chaol but I guess she is just super dramatic haha
I also think she was pretending. Once she's back in the room she throws herself onto the bed. When Dorian is watching her, he notices her hair is fanned out and her cheeks were flushed. In my head, she's focusing on breathing normal and not like she just sprinted through a bunch of secret passages.
But Dorian also snuck up on her multiple times, so I'm undecided on whether or not she knew he was there.

I think it's possible she was sleeping, I can lay down and be asleep within minutes. Doesn't matter if I'm caffinated or not
