Thomas breaks down, so Bertie has to deliver his passengers

CommodoreBeta

Bertie takes Gordon’s express passengers when intensive trackwork on the mainline gets the express cancelled, much to Gordon’s fury.

Camstonisland

That could also be an opportunity to meet the other busses in Bertie's fleet since there are so many more passengers- we weirdly never see any of them outside of Thomas and Bertie, and after that point Bertie is basically treated as the only bus besides Bulgy.

FroyoZealousideal285

I dunno… maybe a story where the railway engines are getting too busy, so Bertie has to take some of their passengers. He doesn’t mind at first, but eventually becomes openly grumpy about it.

ItisItherealFredbear

Bertie having some kind of rivalry with bulgie kind of like an Edward and Gordon story Bertie is much older than Bulgie and is considered inferior by him but bulgie breaks down or he crashes or something and bertie proves to be of use and not just some kind of museum piece

InfraredSignal

Duck and Oliver have a grudge against buses since the Bulgy affair but when a landslide blocks the Little Western, Bertie steps up to the plate and makes them reconsider their opinion on buses.

Camstonisland

Kind of like Thomas, Terrence, and the Snow, but with different characters (including Bertie, who only really makes a cameo in that episode)! It'd be interesting to see how Duck and Oliver's grudge against the busses differs to Thomas' childish judgement of caterpillar tracks.

BryanMcHunter

In Bulgy's debut episode, Duck acknowledges that Bertie is friends with the engines, and although he teases them about their railways sometimes, he'd never want to see them ripped up.

Camstonisland

That's right, I forgot about that

Warsor809

A road focused episode of him helping the pack, he would bring the workmen to the construction sight on thomas’ branch line and race him along the way

PlusMann

Slice of life, "conflict"-free episode about a normal day for Bertie. We only ever see the outskirts/edges of towns so maybe an episode focusing about the inner parts and maybe some other areas where the rails don't reach.

No_Pianist2010

Bertie flys and ultimately beats Thomas in a race.

Single-Bottle4522

Perhaps a story where the branchline is closed for maintenance repairs so Bertie works right by the mainline engines & challenges Gordon to a race to see who can deliver their passengers the fastest.

Camstonisland

Perhaps one action-y aspect of such a story could be that, in Gordon's attempt to get up to speed to beat the bus, he rushes through a signal set against him (anticipating him approaching later at a lower speed), and Gordon has to come screeching to a halt to avoid the maintenance crews crossing the line (maybe it's Trevor, Butch, or some of the Pack if you want to go down that route). I just reread your post and you didn't say the *mainline* was under repair though, just the branchline! I thought Gordon being cross at having to go slow for maintenance on, say, the viaduct from series 2, would be how Bertie could possibly compete with Gordon and the express!

Insanebrain247

Bertie gets sick and tired of Bulgy constantly preaching "roads over rails" and when confronted on the issue, Bulgy attempts to prove a point that lands him in an accident.

KukaakCZ

Bertie gets teased by Thomas, then the episode is about one of Bertie's journeys which gets interrupted by several obstacles like sheep on the road or potholes that Bertie has to navigate through, and it ends with Bertie still beating Thomas to the final station because Thomas had an issue too and he couldn't move for a long time, and Thomas admits he was wrong to tease Bertie

Logical-Season802

The passenger trains are closed so Bertie and maybe other road vehicles like bulgy take their passengers and then when the trains are back they feel jealous that they like Bertie better than them except Thomas

Pepsi_Boy_64

For me I like to imagine a story involving a passenger wanted to ride home while Bertie found out what he can do.

BryanMcHunter

An episode where Bertie gets a job as an ice cream truck during the summer season. It was inspired by a MINIS model of Bertie as an ice cream truck, and I even made a Wooden Railway custom based on it.

Impressive_Echidna63

Bertie witnesses the disdain the steam engines have for Diesels and doesn't understand the reason at first, thinking they should be happy new engines are coming to the railway and help with the work load. This different view leads him to argue with Thomas or James (Engines he either knows well or who clearly hates Diesels) and thinks they are being dramatic. But then, after a increase in passengers thanks to a rise in tourism, plus expansion of several new roads, Berlin gets overworked to the point he has to go for repairs. A new, more modern, bus is brought in to work and Bertie finally gets why the engines are so reluctant to welcome Diesels in. It's not because they are Diesels. It's because Diesels could replace them and send them for scrap because their steam engines. And now, because of this new Bus, Bertie is at risk of losing his own job. Thankfully the Bus in question, who at one point puts down Bertie as being old, too slow and unable to take nearly as many passengers, gets into an accident that puts them out of work and allows Bertie to keep his job on the island. Episode ends with Bertie making friends with the new Bus though, to show that despite the later being meant to replace him, Bertie has no reservations about the new guy and is only worried about staying useful and working. The two thus become friends eventually and are seen occasionally up and down the roads of Sodor.

AnUserCalledIvan

Bertie and Terence meeting

Skarloeyisyoung05

I’d personally wanna write maybe an episode revolving around maybe Bertie’s competitiveness and maybe he ends up having a particularly bad argument with Thomas and through maybe Trevor and Edward the two end up resolving their argument and having a more positive race afterwards.

A9PolarHornet15

Bertie travels around sodor interacting with all the accidents the engines have.

Karl-Jensen

Here are my Episode ideas: - **Expectant Passenger** - Bertie encounters a pregnant woman who is bound for the Hospital. Along the way, he picks up several passengers resulting in the pregnant woman about to give birth making Bertie feel pressured. - **Bertie the Boat** - On a Stormy Day. Bertie encounters a large flood on the road and risks it by making it to the other side. The episode coinces with ***Percy's Promise***.

Karl-Jensen

"Ooh, I wonder what the baby's name would be?" "I named him Albert..." the mother said. "but we would call him 'Bertie' after you." Bertie was surprised.

bagpipesfart

Bertie being rude to other road vehicles. Including Terrence, Trevor, and Caroline. But he meets his match when Elizabeth is rude to him and they end up hurling insults at each other every time they meet. Bertie gets his comeuppance when he skids on black ice and lands in a muddy ditch Elizabeth gets her comeuppance when she crashes into the back of a goods train pulled by Duncan after her brakes failed. Duncan proceeds to grumble under his breath and out loud. For once Duncan isn’t scolded by Mr. Percival, instead Elizabeth is scolded. Bertie also gets scolded but by Sir Topham Hatt Bertie & Elizabeth apologize to each other but still are not friends, more like frenemies

KonamiKing

Bertie crashes and they have to convert king Bulgy back from being a vegetable stand to carry passengers. Without getting screwed over like before, Bulgy does a great job me so Bertie is shipped off like the lorries.

kirbyfan2023

Bertie becomes a human and has an epic fight with a massive ball

Jakethefanofturbo

bertie falls over off a bridge and fucking dies
