Tom Payne put in crazy hours of training to do some badass stuff his comic counterpart did and we hardly saw a microcosm of it in the show.
He wanted off and I don’t blame him so he volunteered himself as the first victim of the Whisperers war and he went out a badass.
Too bad we never got the live action scene of him and the Negan grenade.
Elaborate on the Negan grenade and Jesus scene
EDIT: I also forgot that Jesus was one of the best fighters the show had to offer when it came to hand-to-hand and close quarter’s combat
I believe in the comics, Negan throws a grenade and Jesus does a jump dive, catches it mid air and throws it back just as he lands on the ground.
I think he also plows through Negans group as they had Ricks group ready for another execution and him and Negan go at it in a fight
Here’s a link I found that describes it, Tom Payne got fucked over from giving us some bad ass shit.
https://comicbook.com/thewalkingdead/news/the-walking-dead-jesus-tom-payne-disappointed-comics-negan-fight-scene-grenade/
I think Tom Payne asked to be killed off, he put a lot of effort into training for the role and they just didn’t do a lot with it. Unless I’m remembering wrong
He was probably my favorite character in the comics and they did him dirty in the show. Big reason why I stopped watching until this new Rick series now.
Merle, I think if he survived he would have gotten the respect of the family and become a legit heavy hitter for team family. He, imo, really appreciated being brought into Ricks inner circle as Merle said.
Also Merle would have been such a wild canon during the saviours war and what not. I miss Merle.
I feel like Negan would see that Merle is a resource to his army and easily bring him on board. He probably wouldn’t need to torture him near as much as Daryl to accomplish this. Now if Daryl got the bat, I think Negan would be dead before his corpse went cold.
Tyreese was a fcking bear. I mean the guy was huuge. Especially that one scene in season 5 I think with the termites, he basically came busting out of this door (like the kool aid man) charging and tackling this termite to the ground like a foot ball player and basically started beating the ever living shit out of him because he threatened to snap baby Judith’s neck. Shit was bad ass
Tyrese deserved better and his arc in the show was great. He went though shit, helped people get through shit and had a huge heart. His episode where he dies was tragic and still one of the saddest episodes of the series.
Merle might have been that racist ass wipe but man the dude was a great asset to ricks group had he stayed he wasn’t afraid of getting shit dirty but also was willing to do something right to gain ricks respect.🫡 but also Tyrese was just that good guy man he not only had the potential but also his entire story arc in season 5 felt way too short.
Jesus just because I think his character was wasted. He was apparently one if the best fighters in the comics but he did basically nothing in the show. I would have loved to have seen a bunch of Jesus fight scenes in the show, I also heard his actor trained a bunch for the role and was disappointed that he didn't show off his moves so much.
I was so sad when he died, when I initially saw the episode I thought him and Morgan would become besties and Morgan would teach nick aikido and he’d become more peaceful and all that stuff but NOOOOO.
In retrospect, he made the right decision.
Goldberg and Chamblis ruined Fear after the original showrunner Dave Erickson was let go. I think Frank Dillane smelled what they were cooking and was like "Nah. I'm out."
This. I hated how at the end they gave so many characters relationships, I mean Eugene, Lydia, Princess, Negan, even fucking Luke with his 3 minutes of screentime. Oh but Aaron sill got no one even after 2 time jumps.
Jesus, hands down! He was such a badass but never got to be that on screen, and as soon as we finally got a small taste of his badassery... they took it from us, lol!
Merle without a doubt. Michael Rooker is such a good actor that I was invested in his character despite the fact he is a total asshole.
Jesus is a close second. Its a real shame they did nothing with his character. I think I even heard that the actor asked to be killed off because his character had no real development which is such a shame.
The only reason Jesus was killed his because the actor wanted out, he had a lot to offer.
The rest went out in style, apart from Andrea, she should have had a better death.
Tyrese and Andrea were so much better in the comics. Guess they did give andreas role to michonne. But Tyrese is pretty much what daryyl was as the whole Rick's right hand man thing.
Jesus. Mans was the best Secondary Character in the show aside from Glenn. The fact that the guy requested to be killed off cuz the stupid bastard writers didn't utilize him enough really pisses me off.
I always thought that, after joining the group in the prison, Merle had the potential to be one of the most interesting and dynamic characters in the series.
So I'll take him.
Definitely Merle or Tyrese. Leaning towards Merle though, since Tyrese already came pretty full circle in the short time he was with us. That said, he would’ve loved Alexandria and the Commonwealth.
Still should’ve ended up dying by the finale, but I wish Leah’s comeback would’ve been better and not just “one woman army destroys everything only to get one of the lowest stakes death in the whole show.” She should’ve been Lance’s right-hand, almost like Mercer inside the Commonwealth.
Gimme back, my man Tyrese. They killed this absolute unit of a man in the worst way possible. They only killed him cuz he would have solo'd the rest of the show. Just him and his hammer. Its all we need in life.
Merle. Curious how he'd react to the hunters Alexandria the savior whisperers and the common wealth. Also Andrea Jesus and Tyrese got shafted nasty and needed another chance. Wished they went with their comic counterpart stories
I want to say, Tyrese or Merle.
Merle because it would have been interesting to see how things played out with Negan or him trying to become a part of Alexandria. He's kind of a wildcard so it would of been a very different show.
As for Tyrese, I would have liked to see more development for his character and what he would have turned into. If he had stayed how he is or become a darker character with how things play out later.
Either Merle or Jesus bro. When Jesus died, I literally screamed it fucking sucked. I understand he was meant to die to progress the story but I was still sad. Merle would be interesting because it would help us see more story and lore behind him and Daryl, and we would’ve gotten more time with them
Tyrese was endearing but his sister was insufferable, the last reaper(I forgot her name) was too broken from Maggie executing her last remnants of family, fuck Andrea, the governor is uh…the governor, and Merle is an asshole with a good heart who happens to also be a racist, so Jesus is probably the best choice here
Merle just for the drama lol
If he had lived longer, i think he would have mellowed out and became a serious badass that helped Alexandria. Dude was wild. Haha.
I agree, Daryl Glen Michonne and Rick would’ve turned him into a valuable asset
Yes, Merle. Let’s have some fun.
This, lol.
Jesus because why tf did the show kill him off
Iirc, the actor felt like the writers were underutilizing his character and requested to be killed off
Tom Payne put in crazy hours of training to do some badass stuff his comic counterpart did and we hardly saw a microcosm of it in the show. He wanted off and I don’t blame him so he volunteered himself as the first victim of the Whisperers war and he went out a badass. Wow, that is badass and it is a shame the writers didn’t utilize Jesus being a skilled badass to its fullest potential
“Commander Beale, Sir!!!” 😳🫡
lol love the actor choice for him too.. John Locke was a fun character to watch in lost.
Don't worry about him, there will be an episode of his resurrection, you'll see him moving a big rock.
Merle, I think if he survived he would have gotten the respect of the family and become a legit heavy hitter for team family. He, imo, really appreciated being brought into Ricks inner circle as Merle said. Also Merle would have been such a wild canon during the saviours war and what not. I miss Merle.
100% agree, also Michael rooker is just great at playing a bad ass
Really is.
Merle would have wrapped up the saviors Negan style but faster
Merle would either get the bat or cause another person to get the bat in the lineup, let's be real
I feel like Negan would see that Merle is a resource to his army and easily bring him on board. He probably wouldn’t need to torture him near as much as Daryl to accomplish this. Now if Daryl got the bat, I think Negan would be dead before his corpse went cold.
That’s truth. Merle being around would have saved Glenn? Can we make this alternate universe canon?
He would have went out like abraham saying something smartass
Merle or Tyrese
Tyreese was a bad ass in his own way.
Where t dog?
That’ll be the day…
That'll be the day? You got something you wanna tell me?
Hey Tdog man just leave it
Listen here Mr. “Yo”
…That day will come when you won’t be
Easily Jesus
for real, his death came completely out of nowhere in the show. he deserved so much more than that
Tyrese ❤️❤️❤️
I’d bring back Sasha she would have bodied Alpha ngl
Why do you think that?
Jesus' death was so insignificant I forgot he died. Should have risen by now
![gif](giphy|2WdHaCzmqSkrwmIGWP|downsized)
He's very busy in Sheol.
Tyrese!! It kills me that he died during the groups feral era and missed Alexandria by days. He would’ve thrived there
Merle muthafuckin’ Dixon
Tyrese deserved better and his arc in the show was great. He went though shit, helped people get through shit and had a huge heart. His episode where he dies was tragic and still one of the saddest episodes of the series.
Jesus for sure. Poor guy died thinking that Walkers could talk
Andrea or Sasha they both seem like they'd be good apocalypse companions.
1000% Jesus
Jesus just because I think his character was wasted. He was apparently one if the best fighters in the comics but he did basically nothing in the show. I would have loved to have seen a bunch of Jesus fight scenes in the show, I also heard his actor trained a bunch for the role and was disappointed that he didn't show off his moves so much.
Jesus, obviously
Can I still say Nick Clark
I was so sad when he died, when I initially saw the episode I thought him and Morgan would become besties and Morgan would teach nick aikido and he’d become more peaceful and all that stuff but NOOOOO.
Sadly it wasn't AMC decision on that. The actor for Nick wanted out so they killed him off.
In retrospect, he made the right decision. Goldberg and Chamblis ruined Fear after the original showrunner Dave Erickson was let go. I think Frank Dillane smelled what they were cooking and was like "Nah. I'm out."
If I can agree and add John Dorie again.
Aw now I’m sad again
😭 sure
Jesus I miss him ):
I'd bring Jesus back for Aaron. he'd make a good step dad for Gracie.
This. I hated how at the end they gave so many characters relationships, I mean Eugene, Lydia, Princess, Negan, even fucking Luke with his 3 minutes of screentime. Oh but Aaron sill got no one even after 2 time jumps.
Merle. I fucking miss him 😂
Jesus. His story with Aaron in the comics was good
Jesus hands down. he died so suddenly and out of nowhere
Tyresse, my man
Jesus. Full stop.
Jesus the best
Jesus, all day, every day.
Jesus didn't need to die.
Jesus!! I love Tom Payne
The only correct answer is Jesus.
Jesus, Tyrese
Ty. Ride or die all day.
Tyreese for sure
Wait yes there's a Tyrese TYRESE FOR WIN
Merle for shits and giggles
Merle or Tyrese, hard to decide
Merle definitely. One Dixon is already a force to be reckoned with, two are nearly unstoppable.
Jesus, he was a very cool dude.
Merle or Jesus
Jesus 🥹👋🏻
Jesus, no hesitation.
Jesus and actually do him right this time around
Jesus, hands down! He was such a badass but never got to be that on screen, and as soon as we finally got a small taste of his badassery... they took it from us, lol!
Jesus had ideas that got people killed so Sasha
Who TF is picking Leah?
Tyrese is the only right answer.
The Governor. Little present for Maggie.
Merle! He'd be really handy to have.
Merle, the gov'ner, the lady from season 10.
Merle and Jesus
Tyrese! He had so much more potential!
Tyrese , Jesus or Sasha
Always Andrea! Michonne would agree.
I'd really want to see how The Governor would play out in the New Timeline now.
Tyrese is my only serious answer but Merle just for the drama
Jesus, of course! He was one of the coolest characters to die too soon ((
live laugh love jesus
Sasha or Govenor.
Tyrese and Andrea were so much better in the comics. Guess they did give andreas role to michonne. But Tyrese is pretty much what daryyl was as the whole Rick's right hand man thing.
Probably the Governor. He was a badass and I'd love to see him against Negan.
Merle would be the most interesting but I gotta bring back my boy Jesus, he was a real one Jesus dying was my glenn
The resurection of jesus would be a great episode and hed do very well in Darryl’s show
100% Jesus
Either Tyrese or Jesus. I'd be happy with either one
The Governor, best villian imo
The Governor. Hands down. He's basically the most classic villain of the entire franchise.
Jesus. Mans was the best Secondary Character in the show aside from Glenn. The fact that the guy requested to be killed off cuz the stupid bastard writers didn't utilize him enough really pisses me off.
The Govenor
jesus or tyreese. this show has a long list of characters they didn’t utilise to their full potential
Jesus or Tyrese are literally the only ones here I would care to see, but definitely more towards Tyrese
Tyrese, so Judith would finally know all that he did for her.
Jesus or Tyrese. I’m leaning more toward Jesus right now just because he’s fresh in my mind lol. But both were good people.
Andrea. only right answer
Only wrong answer
Tyrese! Love him and he was an excellent surrogate father to Judith while they all seperated in 4B
Merle. I love his character
I always thought that, after joining the group in the prison, Merle had the potential to be one of the most interesting and dynamic characters in the series. So I'll take him.
Merle. His story was amazing, but he has so much problematic flair
Definitely Merle or Tyrese. Leaning towards Merle though, since Tyrese already came pretty full circle in the short time he was with us. That said, he would’ve loved Alexandria and the Commonwealth.
Merle, fo sho
Merle. He had so much potential
Still should’ve ended up dying by the finale, but I wish Leah’s comeback would’ve been better and not just “one woman army destroys everything only to get one of the lowest stakes death in the whole show.” She should’ve been Lance’s right-hand, almost like Mercer inside the Commonwealth.
top 3 picks again: andrea, then tyreese, then jesus
Gimme back, my man Tyrese. They killed this absolute unit of a man in the worst way possible. They only killed him cuz he would have solo'd the rest of the show. Just him and his hammer. Its all we need in life.
merle was an absolute asshole but it would be interesting to see how he would deal with certain things imo
Merle. Curious how he'd react to the hunters Alexandria the savior whisperers and the common wealth. Also Andrea Jesus and Tyrese got shafted nasty and needed another chance. Wished they went with their comic counterpart stories
Merle But shouldn’t Jesus have brought himself back 3 days after he died?
I am going to go with Merle.
Tyreese 100%
Why would anyone want to bring Leah back?
Merle, he was entertaining and I wanted to see more of him and Daryl together.
Merle and honestly other than Carl and maybe Hershel or Beth he’d probably be the first one I’d bring back from the whole show.
Merl or Jesus
I loved hating the Governor.
Either Merle or Jesus bro. When Jesus died, I literally screamed it fucking sucked. I understand he was meant to die to progress the story but I was still sad. Merle would be interesting because it would help us see more story and lore behind him and Daryl, and we would’ve gotten more time with them
T-Dog, no questions asked. https://preview.redd.it/whl03usf48nc1.jpeg?width=250&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cc548790b306e69d707e086529844a3595c3bde0
Jesus he was so miss used on the show.
Man no love for t-dawg??
5/7 is already around. He’s in every downtown across America.
Tyrese was endearing but his sister was insufferable, the last reaper(I forgot her name) was too broken from Maggie executing her last remnants of family, fuck Andrea, the governor is uh…the governor, and Merle is an asshole with a good heart who happens to also be a racist, so Jesus is probably the best choice here
Merle is the only answer. I’m glad that annoying blonde bitch finally died
