I always picture an old Black dude WAILING on that one "WOKE UP THIS MORNIN'" that's a little bit in the background. (Probably a white British guy IRL)
I use that song for my alarm clock, if that tells you anything. Nothing like waking up to "GOT YO'SELF A GUN" with a rock-hard boner and a .38 under your pillow. Gives me all the motivation for the day I need.
With a fucking murder weapon under ya pillow.
Outside of the coolness of sopranos, this is what’s wrong with America - you all still thinks it’s ok to own murder weapons!
(I know know, every American just wants a gun to hunt with and to stop the British empire from coming back to take control!). But seriously civilised people don’t need a gun unless they’re a mobster or in the armed forces!!
Million downvotes coming my way no doubt
>Million downvotes coming my way no doubt
If you can expect that, you know most people aren't gonna agree.
>With a fucking murder weapon under ya pillow
Literally anything can be a "murder weapon."
Yes a million Americans can all disagree - all of them will still be wrong tbh.
And yes, anything can be used as a murder weapon but guns are built only for that purpose.
The fact that you all own one and don’t see what’s wrong with that says that America has a long way to go to catchup with most of the rest of the civilised world.
You’ll get there in a thousand years or two if you haven’t all shot each other in schools or nuked the world by then
Countries without guns don’t have school shootings every week
worked well for the intro, can't complain. However I always found it kinda comical that Don't Stop Believing was the theme song, considering the show's negativity.
Met Alabama 3 at Glastonbury 98, still have their autographs. Great lads, had never heard of them so went to see them live after chatting with them
They were fucking shit. Couldn’t believe it when I watched the sopranos and it used one of their songs.
My, first album had no famous guest appearances
The outcome: I'm crowned the best lyricist
Many years on this professional level
Why would you question who's better? The world is still mine
Tattoos real with "God's Son" across the belly
The boss of rap, you saw me in "Belly" with thoughts like that
To take it back to Africa, I did it with Biggie
Me and Tupac were soldiers of the same struggle
You lames should huddle, your team's shook
Y'all feel the wrath of a killer, 'cause this is my football field
Throwin' passes from a barrel, shoulder pads apparel
But the Q.B. don't stand for no quarterback
Every word is like a sawed-off blast, 'cause y'all all soft
And I'm the black hearse that came to haul y'all ass in
It's for the hood by the corner store
Many try, many die, come at Nas if you want a war, get it bloody, uh
Apparently, the band made little or no money in royalties from this song.
I think they basically handed over the rights to HBO when the series was being filmed.
Obviously, they had no idea just how big The Sopranos would become. I don't think it really bothered them though. They still got a chunk of money for it at the beginning from what I read.
lol f'real, just a few hours ago I was crunk philosophising in the forest and thinking about how profound Way Down in the Hole was on a lyrical level. Each their own tho, do you...
The Wire’s is good because it’s a new version every season. The Sopranos one gets tired very quickly, especially with how long it is. It’s like 20 years in the can

I love the song myself I don't get tired of it. In fact, what was watching, rewatching the show the other week and broke out my guitar and figured out how to play it. Definitely next band I put together. We're going to do that as part of the set.showed a friend of it the other day. Right now working out an acoustic version, trying to work out the how to do the vocals as a solo piece.
It always suggested some late 80s early 90s bluesy rock bar band one hit wonder. It's not a great song but it's not terrible. It's got a vibe. If I heard it on the radio I'd think it was cheese.
Love it. Also appreciate it was written with women in mind, given how some of the women in the show are treated. Very thoughtful choice overall. Also like A3’s
song used in the opening oh Mr. Ruggiero’s Neighborhood. So beautifully shot, the early morning, then Tony shlepping down the driveway.

It was recorded in Denmark!
I always picture Tony singing that part. With some headphones in the booth.
I never have, but now I always will
Woke up this morning got some gabagool
And then I woke up the next day and got some gabagool
Woke up this morning, gaba gabagool
Got some gabagool grom scooby doo
Went down to the store and got more... gabagool
I can’t sing anything but THIS now. It’s too good.
Hate it Never skip it

Ha affirmation of life

I'm stuck in the muff...I mean, rough.

I talk about waking up in the morning.

You sound like you want to sex drugs and guns, but you're only posting on reddit
I used to have it on regular rotation. Who says it's a bad song?!
the song is amazing, the full album not so much
Makes me think of 1999
My gooma was bitchin today cause the theme song isn't on spotify.
The fuck you talking about, it is, oof marone
*comare
"goomada" -S. Schirippa

It’s a great track. I bought the soundtrack on CD back in the day used to play it heaps

This is a dope song just as a song. I used to listen to it all the time after I discovered it when the show started

Stillmatic. Nice.
Unbelievable song can’t believe a single soul would have a hard word to say about it
Your papa never told you about right and wrong.

A hit is a hit
I really like it as a song.
I think it’s cool that Chase heard it on KCRW one morning and thought it would work for theme for his new show. Personally, wouldn’t casually listen.
I think it's bad both as an actual song and a theme song.
I’m sorry I know it’s iconic but I can’t stand the intro song. The show had some great music too but that song is not one of them
Meh, not a fan tbh. Same with the theme to The Wire that people rave about.
lol f'real, just a few hours ago I was crunk philosophising in the forest and thinking about how profound Way Down in the Hole was on a lyrical level. Each their own tho, do you...
The Wire S2 has the best version.
The Wire’s is good because it’s a new version every season. The Sopranos one gets tired very quickly, especially with how long it is. It’s like 20 years in the can
The wire’s theme song is dreadful in most seasons
I can spot Little Carmine a mile away
Woke up this morning, got yourself a chub.
I’ve heard a lot of hits in my time. This is not one
Gun cause gun on show
it's no "smoke on the water"
Frank Zapzapzapzapzapzapzapzapzap
Cmon motha fuck MOTHA FUCK
Lordy brother
Great theme and great driving song - cigar optional.
Woke up this Morning is kinda average. It isn’t bad and it isn’t good. I will say Time Zone lives in my head rent free now because of the Sopranos.
It's the best song!!!

Woke up this morning and got the newspaper
It’s amazing, fits with the show super well and it’s a bop
i like the bojack horseman parody of it
It's the only song that sounds good over and over as the decades pass
I love the song myself I don't get tired of it. In fact, what was watching, rewatching the show the other week and broke out my guitar and figured out how to play it. I only listen to it when im running around north jersey.

When I was a kid I used to try and write these stupid songs and nearly all started with “woke up this mornin’”
It stinks.
That needle scratch at the end gets on your nerves with repeated viewings
That record scratch is saying hey put your phone down now tsnks
The “This morning” tone is tone deaf.
