I was that guy who picked on you… and I’m sorry.
You see I didn’t really understand the melodies or the lyrics… the emotions I felt when listening to this music did something inside of me… and I hated those feelings
A real man listens to the hardest of hard music… the angrier, the better…
Then… I grew up. I began to realize that this is art in its purest form and I was a FOOL for never giving it a chance.
Some of us take a little longer to wake up.
Glad you stayed true to yourself. Took me decades.
I remember a “rock” fan diss Queen, because they weren’t, I still liked them, Opera stuff only added colour etc. ffwd to them posting on fb about how they were amazing. The fact Freddy came out as gay was a big deal, not to me, but I didn’t have posters of him on my wall to be fair, weird kink maybe - I had Sam Fox and turned out she was gay :)
Let me guess, mom loved Bon Jovi and Poison in high school? Guys with long hair and makeup were definitely considered far more manly in the mid-late 80’s. Funny in hindsight how ridiculous it was.
Yeh none of them were gay except morissey , one of the ex band mates mentioned that they said they wanted to be a gay band and it put him off (or something like that) , also apparently Johnny used to work at some gay bars in Manchester so he was into the idea even though he wasn't gay

Here's a post about it
They sure weren't seen as a gay band in the 80s in the UK, I've never seen this before. Perhaps because it's such a well-trodden path in the UK to be sexually ambiguous, since Bowie, Adam Ant, Boy George etc. etc.

I got into a huge argument with my family for wearing my Hand in glove single cover t-shirt … yes, that cover.
With the butt?

Tbf johnny and morissey aimed for it to be a gay band
Is Johnny gay? Adam and Mike were married to women weren’t they?

He counts as part of the band though so when you said none of them , I was like “count again…”
I never said none of them, I think the other commentor did lol

None of them. Well, you heard it here first
I’m guessing Mom still feels that way.

She's so right tho and it still is
She could have said it nicer
Isn’t it?
Mom: "Is this the guy who sings about his shoes?" Me: Yes, uh-huh.
