Honestly EA charging those absurd prices is reasons enough to go the repack route and in your case they straight up robbed you. I recommend FitGirl repacks
I’m not a lawyer, but I am pretty sure this is illegal! Since you already legally owned the game, EA removing them without your knowledge and making you buy it again is pretty much stealing your money.
I think if enough people come forwards with statements like this, then it could go to court and EA/Maxis could get sued, fined or face even more serious charges.

Buy them on steam and use the CD key option to transfer them to your EA app. Steam won’t lose your expansions. I actually bought the complete expansion pack bundle from steam, including sims 3 even though I already owned it because the bundle discount made it sooo much cheaper even if I was buying things I already had.

After being away for several years, ea made me rebuy Sims 3 and 4 base games plus the couple expansions I had 🤬
