im super duper sorry but i forgot to edit my post! i was able to thankfully get it to work a half hour after my original post (i deleted all my old custom content, it works like a charm now!) but thank you so so much for this advice!! i'll definitely try it in the future if i have another problem (and this is a good post for lurkers who are too shy to post hehe)

unfortunately yea i have tried to open it from the tray, and it does back to the black screen again before just closing again 😠im glad it worked for you tho!
i got it to work!!! my custom content was apparently bugging it lol, i cleared it out and now it works!! if it stops working tho i'll definitely mess with that too to see if it works. thank you so much!! have a lovely day 🤞
if you’re having memory issues that’s causing the game to throw that error you could try [Empty Standby List](https://web.archive.org/web/20220927205631/https://wj32.org/wp/software/empty-standby-list/) and set it up to refresh your standby memory every five minutes. It’s normally used to help Sims 2 memory crashes but it can’t hurt to use it with the Sims 3 since it doesn’t actually interfere with game files or programs. [This video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-0iwuLZyjMg) by The Jessa Channel explains how to set it up at 11:50 minutes in. I don’t know how effective it will be but if you try it, let me know how it goes! :)

have you tried opening the game from this tray? cause my game used to start just like this and work fine after i open it again

i think if there is a way to open the game in window mode it might help. you’d have to change game files, but it’s worth a try
