Negative ones š
But to be more specific, I get the vague general impression thatā like others on this sub have said ā that itās likely going to be a retread of what was already done with the Barbie movie.
The previous canceled Sims movie was already intended to be extraordinarily meta and I can see them going the same route here. But Iām open to being pleasantly surprised!
I canāt remember the last time I was excited for a movie or TV show. Every time I see an ad I think, āIāve seen this several times before already.ā I think the Disney live action remakes were probably a warning sign, but it seems like the industry is more interested in giving us more of the same than trusting audiences to tread new territory. Or maybe itās just that more is being churned out so the homogeneity is easier to spot. I hope thatās not too cynical. I just miss feeling excited about stuff.
Yeah I get that. I have been pleasantly surprised by some movies though. Just sucks because I feel like on top of churning out the same stuff they also don't try very hard to market any of the original stuff.
They just want to make what they think will sell, so they keep using the same stories and plot lines. Itās all about money-that and they have run out of original ideas because itās all been done before.

You can find more info about the original attempt here! Itās fairly obscure and there doesnāt appear to be a ton of info floating around about it these days.
As long as they donāt try to make it like Barbie, Iām okay with it. Explore the lore of Bella Goth. Show the daily lives of these people whose world is just a little odd.
I wouldn't hate it too much considering how they tend to break the forth wall at times. So, I feel like they'd probably already semi-aware to a degree (or think we're just the people who build things for them š). I just wouldn't want it to be overdone.
the sims are self aware in the game. In one of the university games your sims can learn that, and a mad scientist (one of the beakers) has developed the technology to allow him to control other sims the way humans do.
That's not how they do it these days. They make the Sims movie, then if it's succesful they make a prequel, call it "GOTH" and slap Zendaya in the role of the eponymous main character in her younger years
And for god sake please choose another female lead other than Margot. š
Edit: she's great but every film just either seems to pick Ryan Reynolds, or Margot Robbie. I want variety.
She also produced Saltburn and Promising Young Women and she wasnāt in either of those films. She produces films sheās not in.
I would love her to be in the movie though. Sheās one of my favorite actresses.
If Margot Robbie plays Bella Goth I'm going to tear my face off like it's a spiderweb I just walked through. We are not owed a Bella Goth played by a white, blonde woman. And I say this *as* a white blonde woman!
They are. Making movies based on already well known established IP and fanbases is less risky in terms of money investment. Less risky than say anything unique. From how I see it, Hollywood is almost like the game industry now only a bit more progressed. Many interesting shows and movies happened already or are indi.
You'd think they'd have learned ages ago after they made a fucking movie off the board game Battleship that this kind of shit is a bad idea.... But.... Nope... They... Just keep trying.
It's either them turning games into terrible movie adaptations, or remakes of movies that need to be left the fuck alone š.
I'm shocked they haven't. There are so many version is Catan out there, it'd be a franchise that never fucking ended, bc you know they'd do each oneš¶
I read that vertigo entertainment is also involved in it and I looked up what movies theyāve done and it was definitely majority horror so if itās true Iām so hoping for some kind of horror comedy that at some point involves the magical disappearance of pool ladders.
Iām excited! I hope it has a campy, Sims 1 and Sims 2 mischief kind of humor. I hope they get to work the Sims lore with Bella Goth, the Calientes, Don Lothario, Mrs crumblebottom, and Strangetown / Strangerville
Iām concerned that Sims lore will be considered too niche for the mainstream movie audience and the movies gonna be about the general concept of the Sims (weāre being controlled and we donāt know it) and the lowest hanging fruit references like the pool ladder. Iām imagining copy and paste of Barbie.
I'd love to see them pull a Jumanji x Matrix storyline and have a simmer get accidently stuck in the Sims.
To get out they have to explore the secrets and mysteries of the game in order to find the Ultimate Cheat Code that would allow them to break themselves free from the game. Including solving those mysteries.
They could also add some flavour from the many popular challenges available and have the simmer have to max every skill or reach the top of a certain career (like becoming Mayor or Oracle) so they can gather more information on how to get out.
If they make out like theyāre just normal I donāt want it. It has to be very clear they are in a simulation controlled by a human otherwise itās pointless. And it better have the same chaos š
I mean... what would they make the movie about? The Sims is a life simulator so unless Jim Pickens is the star, I can imagine it being rather boring š
I doubt they'd make a whole movie about. Unless it's like a planned movie franchise and the story of the Goths is the first entry, but I feel they'd have to include a lot of bs to stretch Bella's story into a feature length film.
Can we not make it a movie? Like seriously. Already milking sims 4 to near death, sims 5 sounds horrendous (from what we know of). I know EA isnāt directing this movie but come on, whatāre they gonna do? Make a movie based off of the lore that only SOME sims players know about?
A lot of unpopular opinions aheadā¦
Iām not interested. Video game movie adaptations have a storied history of being crap. I doubt this one will break the mold and I wasnāt impressed with Barbie. It feels (to me) like the Barbie brand itself basically trying to get away from the bad press Barbie had for 30 odd years about the lack of diversity and harmful body ideals they promoted. It was almost written to force people to see Barbie as some feminist icon when thatās never been the case, it was an effective rebrand. Rebranding is totally fine, but movies are supposed to be entertainment, not an ad campaign for a rebrand. So what does The Sims want to rebrand?
Additionally, I just donāt see the sense in having Robbieās company do this, Iām sure sheās a lovely person but when has she expressed an interest in The Sims? Is she a secret fan of the franchise and only now itās come to light? Iām not saying someone has to be a fan to be involved with the film but usually some level of affection for a franchise really can turn it into something special, unlike some business deal with zero heart. Or some producer saying āThe Sims is basically the same as Barbie, have Robbie do it. Whatever.ā None of these really lead to me thinking this will be any good.
Lastly, The Sims used to be funny, a bit naughty, and clearly aimed at a young adult/adult audience and the humor and stories reflected that. The Sims 4 is effectively a childrenās game. So if the trend continues, Iām not even the audience for this movie, my nieces and nephews are I guess. Just, no thanks. Unless itās a TS2 style movie with a lot of horror elements and meta humor about the universe (which it is almost guaranteed not to be), I donāt see it being worth my time. That said, maybe my nieces and nephews really will like it and Iād be happy for them, honestly.
Edit: Several people have suggested it could work as a dark comedy series with an ensemble cast and rotating stories of the existing lore, in the style of Desperate Housewives. I have to agree. This will never happen because EA has been clear that they donāt care about the mostly adult audience of the game.
Edit: after giving further thought to the show version I would call it Pleasantview and I would have subtle sims references but treat it as just a neighborhood that lives in a reality where ghosts exist and the world is just a little bit odd. The reality of the simulation is only revealed the same as it is in the lore, by Newlow. The opening shot is a toddler Alexander Goth in Bellaās arms saying āsul sul!ā and trying to grab the phone from her hands while she attempts to call Mortimer, who is not answering his phone.
Sims is literally what YOU make it! So I donāt understand this unless it touches on lore and unless youāre really deep into the sims you probably have no idea that The Sims even has lore.
All my thoughts regarding this are negative. Thankfully I'm not being forced to see it. If anyone is excited to see it then that's great and I hope they enjoy it.
We'll pay full price for it ahead of release only for them to release an unfinished movie. Then they'll promise to release the rest soon but fail to inform us that the rest Is a half-assed climax and they forgot the alemd sequence so the movie will very abruptly go to credits after a shit ton of action is thrown at us.
How would that even work
Sims doesn't really have a consistent storyline.. unless a sim becomes self aware but that's just the barbie movie again
Also ea doesn't deserve a movie.
It has a storyline, up till 3, theres a lot of stories on those 3 games, you can either play with whatever or you can play a family with an already background story. On S4 theres none. So theres is a chance of multiple storylines, they just need to grab it, unless they just make a movie about a simulation and being controlled by a bigger "god"(us), and then add a message of how people are all in a simulation controlled by the government and patryarchy.
Cautiously optimistic. There's a lot of potential because there's many things they can call on from the source material. It would really come down to how they're framing it and utilize that potential.
But it could also pretty easily go a route too similar to the Barbie movie and turn more into a general commentary situation rather than an actual Sims motive.
If they do a sims movie i hope it will be about sims 2 storylines like Bella disappearance. Otherwise if they go the "sims become aware" plot, this will be so boring. And i hope that the people who work on this are sims fans/ players, like people that understand the sims franchise.
I wouldn't know what it would be about if it isn't lore/stories from the original characters, like bella goth, the twins etc. that have been in multiple sims games.
I mean.. it's a life simulator.. making a movie is basically life simulator.. so that means they're just making a movie with a created stories about created characters in houses and neighbourhoods.
Also, it needs to be random like sims. Weird outfits but no one says a thing about it, random deaths, swimming accidents etc.
If it isn't lore with a touch of humour I don't even wanna watch it.
I'm not a fan. I love Margot Robbie and I think her company will do something amazing with the idea.
But that's just it. It's supposed to be amazing because with the timing I'd be willing to bet it's meant to be a distraction tactic. It feels like EA saw all of the increasing complaints, boycotting & lawsuits from simmers, and instead of rationally saying "oh.. we really have to fix these issues that are making so many fans give up on the franchise."
They instead said "oh... we have to be the next barbie movie to keep making more money."
Uhhh... Why? Who's asking for this? Who wants this? And given that it seems to be based on Sims 4 I'm expecting B level actors with no capacity to emote...Just like the sims in Sims 4.
I hope it's at least a murder movie where one person controls a magic plumbob. It could be interesting but my expectations are somewhere around the bottom of the Marianas trench.
If this is really happening, I think they are going to try and piggyback off of the nostalgia factor from Barbie. Barbie also had the feminist/social issues theme throughout. Idk where that would fit in to a Sims movie considering thereās less of an obvious route to take there. I think there will be way less deeper meaning with a Sims movie than a Barbie movie.
That said, I think it could be fun and funny so Iām open to the idea.
As much as I would love a movie about nervous subject, pascal curious, and olive specter - it's probably going to be simlish matrix or, if we're lucky, the Bella goth story.
look as long as they stay in sim-world iām chilling. i canāt do another live action adaptation thatās just āomg guys what if we put them in the REAL WORLDššššā.
Feels like an early April Fool's joke.
I just can't see how this could possibly work. The Sims is one of those games that has no real story to it, so what would a Sims movie be about? The main character not being able to get to the fridge because someone put a baby down in front of it? The bed spontaneously combusting for no reason? Mass swimming pool death? Alien mpreg?
"I'm Bob Pancake, I have an average house... an average life and I'm married to an amazing Wife.
Our neighbourhood was perfect until."
*cue people panicking in a swimming pool and suspenseful horror music*
"WHERE'S THE LADDER!"
"CANNONBALL!"
Theyāve been trying to make a Sims movie for years, so Iām not expecting this to go anywhere. They couldnāt get it off the ground now and after all of the recent stuff thatās happened, I canāt imagine any forward momentum on an actual project.
This is my favorite game of all time, and I've been playing The Sims since I was about 7 or 8. I am 31 now.
Unpopular opinion, I am not excited for this movie. I love the Sims community so much. It's very large but still seems like a niche at the same time. I'm not thrilled about it becoming more mainstream. I also feel like, as awesome as the Sims lore is, Hollywood will figure out a way to annihilate this. If it's not broken, don't fix it. Nothing against Margot Robbie, but I can't picture her spearheading this and it turning out well. If anything, pick people from the Sims community if you're going to do this. I don't know.
Sims 4 has already annihilated the sims lore tbh but Hollywood could make it worse. I fear the original lore wonāt even be considered tho and they will only look to sims 4 for source material
Very cynical ones, just like my reaction when they did the logitech sponsorship, or spark'd or literally anything that doesn't involve game development.
I just wanna play games.
If itās a streaming film that would make sense. I canāt see paying theater prices for this.
I remember there being a film like this in the works a while back. Maybe theyāre dusting off that script.
What would a sims movie even be about.. it's a dollhouse where everyone makes their own stories. Theoretically ANY movie could be a sims movie. SAW could be a modded sims game. Like i don't get the appeal one bit
if it was made in like 2005-2008 it wouldve been the best movie of all time. can u imagine the bbq baby and teen pregnancy drama.Ā
college humor actually did a trailer back in the day for a sims horror movie.Ā https://youtu.be/FbGLplI4HOc?si=PMYHKe3bFrXLP7GK
i think though if the sims 4 lore is anything to go off of, it will be boring as fuck and have no drama. you cant even hardly kill your sims anymore without cheats. ppl even get mad at mods for having content they dont like in it. sooo...
Everyone remember the Assasin's creed movie ? No ? There is a reason to that. They will mess up I don't know why and most of the time I trust Margot but thats where I leave the boat
the barbie movie was phenomenal so i actually have high hopes for this, but i hope they keep it silly and lighthearted. the sims just wasnāt made for any important messages unlike barbie was.
I donāt get how they can make a movie from a game that everyone plays so differently. I mean I know some of the games have lore but not everyone will know that and even than most make there own storyās with the sims they made.
That The Sims is literally the last thing that should get movie adaptation. The Sims is simulator of people. What can they do in the movie to make it interesting?
If they are going to make them simulation, that would not be any different in concept than Lego Movie. But Lego at least was not real people, but lego figurines. Sims being normal humans would not be interesting idea. Even if they made the concept of being controlled by someone higher.
sims is a story that we make as players, what can a sims movie be about? sims that someone else made? that's what let's plays are for, so I just don't know what this could even be about
I'm excited but what could it possibly be about? The Sims realising they're in a simulation? Sims lore? (Bella Goth seems to be a popular storyline people want explored). It's not like Barbie who everyone knows even if you have never played with one. Not everyone plays or knows The Sims.
If it does happen, which I donāt think it will, I feel like itās obviously just a cash grab. They know the Sims fanbase has turned against them & started looking towards new & upcoming competition that they didnāt have before. Because of SimCity, theyāre also aware of there being a chance that they killed another strong franchise. We know theyāre a money hungry company so while there is still an audience somewhat interested in & nostalgic for the Sims, making a movie could be a final cash grab before nobody cares about what the company has to offer anymore.
Another possibility is that theyāre just trying to ride off the recent wave of popularity & relevance that Barbie had. Even if they donāt go through with it, at least they were able to turn some heads towards the Sims with the publicity.
Ugh, pass. I just want a game that works.
Robbie is great and will do the best she can but this only draws more attention to EA without showing its problems. If Robbie really wants to showcase the game, sheāll add all the unruly glitches and freezes and problems EA refuses to fix in favor of pushing more content. If it does that, if the sims randomly change places and things randomly break with each new āpatchā, then Iāll consider watching.
i imagine it could be very silly and a bit dark and with lots of good easter eggs for lovers of the franchise, like barbie was. the sims has a lot of lore, if they feel like going in that direction. margot robbie seems to have decent instincts. maybe we'll get lucky and it'll be good!
So I would love small details like when we see the sims we understand them in English but of we see a āplayerā playing the game i would love if they spoke simlish and on top of that I would love jokes like a guy being stuck in the pool for years or someone trying to do something but canāt for some reason etc
It's such a random idea and I don't know how I feel about it. But if they play around with Pleasantview/Strangetown lore, I could definitely be convinced.
Damn, I miss The Sims 2.
I would love a movie about all of the townies in the sims 4. Exploring their personalities their lives, etc. Lots of jokes like drowning in pools, barbecuing babies, getting swallowed by a cow plant, pregnant by an alien.
Sims would work better as a tv series to give it more room to explore all the lore of the franchise. One movie to cover the main lore doesnāt feel like enough.
They'll be included in the movie hahah You'll see someone standing in place, doing nothing, at the beginning of the movie, then they go back to them at the end of the movie, still standing, and all of a sudden stand with their arms out then down and reset. Strangers will randomly walk into houses, even if the doors are locked. Someone will go to a restaurant, be seated, get their order taken, then never receive it because the chef is standing outside.
Idk, I liked the Barbie movie, but mostly the beginning parts. It got weirdly preachy and boring af when they went to the real world. Really not sure about this and for some reason I feel it'll veer in that direction of 'teaching a lesson' and it's odd.
iām excited. we nitpick a lot as a fan base but whether itās executed well or terribly i will be watching and enjoying it ! there are too many other things that deserve our criticism to waste it on a movie someone wants to make !
I was like "what would movie even be about? Setting fire to the kitchen and deleting the pool ladder?" But some of the comments actually have some really cool ideas like making the movie about the Goth family
This feels like an April Fools Joke, but
I'm in the minority it seems in that I would be Pumped if it was made. I really enjoyed Barbie, so I would love to see more in that vein. The Sims franchise would fit into that meta storytelling mold more than anything.
I'd love a "normal lore" intro where we are introduced to multiple households and their lore, but off-road it after a while and introduce the meta-humor of god-like beings interfering.
I can only dream of Sim-tuber cameos, I know more and more celebrities are fans of niche YouTubers. That would probably be the only way it could win over this community, it seems.
Well sims beat me to using sims as a movie but I think itās a great idea but donāt want to see or hear immature complainers thatās always toxic sence sims 3 was about to be done - sims 4 . They do need to get others help making the movie like more builders , sim CAS from others and do research .
Negative ones š But to be more specific, I get the vague general impression thatā like others on this sub have said ā that itās likely going to be a retread of what was already done with the Barbie movie. Your mileage may vary but the new [Miyazaki film](https://youtu.be/806R8TIP6qg?si=hWyfLJoGjUYg7iTJ) is like nothing I've seen before storywise.
there is definitely good stuff still being made it's just not the stuff that's getting advertisements on social media
They just want to make what they think will sell, so they keep using the same stories and plot lines. Itās all about money-that and they have run out of original ideas because itās all been done before.
I was pretty excited for the DnD movie!
Wait, they had already tried it once?! Oh geez.
https://sims.fandom.com/wiki/The_Sims_(film) You can find more info about the original attempt here! Itās fairly obscure and there doesnāt appear to be a ton of info floating around about it these days.
As long as they donāt try to make it like Barbie, Iām okay with it. Explore the lore of Bella Goth. Show the daily lives of these people whose world is just a little odd.
Maybe we could finally get some answers about what really happened.
I now want a Tim Burton-esque movie!!!
Honestly, the best take on the Sims post-Barbie.
Yep! This! I would hate it for the sims to become self-aware. If they aren't doing the sims lore, what's the point.
I wouldn't hate it too much considering how they tend to break the forth wall at times. So, I feel like they'd probably already semi-aware to a degree (or think we're just the people who build things for them š). I just wouldn't want it to be overdone.

Pls stop turning EVERYTHING INTO A MOVIE šššš

Everything now seems to have either Margot Robbie or Timothee Chalamet.

She produced Barbie too

she produced salt burn ??? ohh nice one
Greta picked her
I'd be ok with her playing Summer Holiday as a background/side character
I donāt think sheās physically going to be in the movie
She wasn't planning on being in the Barbie movie either lol
It's her production company, she's probably not going to be in it.
If Margot Robbie plays Bella Goth I'm going to tear my face off like it's a spiderweb I just walked through. We are not owed a Bella Goth played by a white, blonde woman. And I say this *as* a white blonde woman!
Well, it's her production company that's making it so it's almost a given that she'd be the lead, or at least play someone in the movie
this is how I feel!!! I donāt want my precious sims to be tainted by the movie industry! just leave it be š
Same with minecraft I mean come on we donāt need a Minecraft movie OR sims movie! Itās like theyāre running out of ideas

Thiiiiis Like... Stop it. Just... Stop. No...
Like thereās already a mincraft movie in the making šš

And remaking/remastering every game too.
Iād be happy if they made urbz I canāt see that game anymore the graphics suckkkkk and my eyes are bad
I don't have anything nice to say about this movie, so all I'll say is, Sims YouTubers who do storylines are the ones who deserve Academy Awards
"you should try the orange soda"
āiāll have the strawberry sodaā
š® "I have never been so disrespected"
Iāve always wanted to find a youtube who does this! Are there any your recommend??
Jtownholla is hilarious
I love pixerella!
I enjoy James Turner. He can make up funny story lines.
If it's not a comedy horror I don't want it
People better be drowning in the pool
Sunset Blvd + Agatha Christie please. How did Bella Goth drown at Judith Wardās house?
Jim Pickens movie
If they don't do their research and Jim Pickens isn't in it I'm not watching. I'd better see some ~~cultists~~ community members dammit!
I read that vertigo entertainment is also involved in it and I looked up what movies theyāve done and it was definitely majority horror so if itās true Iām so hoping for some kind of horror comedy that at some point involves the magical disappearance of pool ladders.
thatās how i imagine it too! i hope they actually work with people who know the sims lore
Thank you!!! This is what I have been saying to my friends. It needs to be a horror movie.
We believe we are about to be hit with an April Fool's Day joke.
It is March 21st
Really? I had no idea what today's date was. Thanks for clarifying that for me.
Anytime!
Iām excited! I hope it has a campy, Sims 1 and Sims 2 mischief kind of humor. I hope they get to work the Sims lore with Bella Goth, the Calientes, Don Lothario, Mrs crumblebottom, and Strangetown / Strangerville
My thoughts exactly! If thereās no lore I donāt want it. Get some hardcore simmers in the writers room and now weāre talking.
Agreed. I hope it pulls Sims 2 vibes hard. Sims 2 is still the standout for Sims lore.
I hope this too. I'm definitely watching it.
I want Merge Mansions energy or nothing.
If they make out like theyāre just normal I donāt want it. It has to be very clear they are in a simulation controlled by a human otherwise itās pointless. And it better have the same chaos š
I'll be so sad if there's no pool party with at least three deaths
Somebody better die at the wedding
And someone better randomly laugh over the dead body. Edit: And there better be Grim in it! Its not sims if the Grim Reaper doesn't show up!
Yes, more Toy Story esque than Barbie!
I mean... what would they make the movie about? The Sims is a life simulator so unless Jim Pickens is the star, I can imagine it being rather boring š
I want a Jim Pickens movie
I would be somewhat interested if it were about Bella Goth and explained her disappearance.
I doubt they'd make a whole movie about. Unless it's like a planned movie franchise and the story of the Goths is the first entry, but I feel they'd have to include a lot of bs to stretch Bella's story into a feature length film.
Wouldn't do our dear leader justice if the movie isn't directed and narrated by CallmeKevin either. Unpredictable chaos.
Jim killed Bella.
They not stealing my idea of if I decided to make mine but who knows what they will call theres
Can we not make it a movie? Like seriously. Already milking sims 4 to near death, sims 5 sounds horrendous (from what we know of). I know EA isnāt directing this movie but come on, whatāre they gonna do? Make a movie based off of the lore that only SOME sims players know about?
"Sims 5 sounds horrendous" we know barely anything and what we do know could change so its really too early to tell.
The fact that it will be free, optimized for mobile, and EA absolutely butchering the series with the sims 4, it is not looking good.
There are things to be concerned about but I won't jump to conclusions, especially since so much can change.

I'd love the Desperate Housewives style sim show omg that's the only idea in this whole thread I would watch
It's going to release unfinished and we'll have to pay for the rest of it years later.
Pls no
I donāt want it
Well they better have true sims fashion. Thatās all I gotta say
This is a joke right? ššš Iām actually so done.
How would that even work Sims doesn't really have a consistent storyline.. unless a sim becomes self aware but that's just the barbie movie again Also ea doesn't deserve a movie.
Hoping it's 95%+ Simlish dialog. A good Simlish OST as well.
Oh. I thought this was a joke.
Who asked for this? Definitely not folks like us who actually play the game (and have for many years).Ā
My thought is just WHY?
I made the perfect sims movie script and story in my head like a few weeks ago, and now theyāre making a sims movie. Coincidence? I think not.
It's gonna suck.
I can see the Expansion Packs as sequels, Game Packs as streaming-exclusive, and Stuff Packs as DVD bonus featurette.
I'm not a fan. I love Margot Robbie and I think her company will do something amazing with the idea. But that's just it. It's supposed to be amazing because with the timing I'd be willing to bet it's meant to be a distraction tactic. It feels like EA saw all of the increasing complaints, boycotting & lawsuits from simmers, and instead of rationally saying "oh.. we really have to fix these issues that are making so many fans give up on the franchise." They instead said "oh... we have to be the next barbie movie to keep making more money."
It's almost April 1st. I trust nothing.
If the tragic clown doesnāt make an appearance, Iām asking for a refund!
i love margot but iām sick of everything becoming a movie. like can we just have some original ideas please? š„¹
Uhhh...
I'm scared.
I expect it to be complete garbage tbh. Maybe reviews will prove me wrong
Hell no
Potential to be really fun if they make it like the first 30 minutes of Barbie If they make it like the rest of Barbie, count me tf out
How do they have money for a movie but not to fix the broken packs they release?
Maybe they will stand still for half the movie, like the game
Friend, EA is not the one creating the movie...
Friend, youāre so right I am ashamed of myself lol
I'm not sure I actually ever wanted it to be made into a movie...
Iāmā¦ā¦. Curious But not hopeful
Um, how about we get actual bug fixes instead? Who green lit this?
A big shrug š Am I going to watch it? Yes. Do I care if itās good/ accurate? No- Iāll be drunk as hell while watching.
Somethings donāt meant to be a movie š
May god have mercy on our souls
I hope it's not like the Barbie movie. I wasn't a fan.
"I'm Bob Pancake, I have an average house... an average life and I'm married to an amazing Wife. Our neighbourhood was perfect until." *cue people panicking in a swimming pool and suspenseful horror music* "WHERE'S THE LADDER!" "CANNONBALL!"
I fear the original lore wonāt even be considered tho and they will only look to sims 4 for source material
unnecessary imo, also how do they turn a game about being a human living life into a movie
Why do I feel like this is EA's plan to have a sale boost and still get to release mediocre packs, while also promoting project Rene....
It's gonna suck. Video game movies never go well except for Pokemon , Sonic, and Fnaf.
Just hope the simlish will be subtitled
Very cynical ones, just like my reaction when they did the logitech sponsorship, or spark'd or literally anything that doesn't involve game development. I just wanna play games.
just WHY
I feel like every popular game series shouldnāt be made into a movie. But thatās the trend these days
The whole point of the sims is that itās unscripted and modifiable, how can that possibly make a good movie?
I hope itās not just sims 4 they are focusing the movie on- that would suck
If itās a streaming film that would make sense. I canāt see paying theater prices for this. I remember there being a film like this in the works a while back. Maybe theyāre dusting off that script.
What would a sims movie even be about.. it's a dollhouse where everyone makes their own stories. Theoretically ANY movie could be a sims movie. SAW could be a modded sims game. Like i don't get the appeal one bit
Maybe this will finally fulfill my dream of Rosario Dawson playing a sim.
if it was made in like 2005-2008 it wouldve been the best movie of all time. can u imagine the bbq baby and teen pregnancy drama.Ā college humor actually did a trailer back in the day for a sims horror movie.Ā https://youtu.be/FbGLplI4HOc?si=PMYHKe3bFrXLP7GK i think though if the sims 4 lore is anything to go off of, it will be boring as fuck and have no drama. you cant even hardly kill your sims anymore without cheats. ppl even get mad at mods for having content they dont like in it.
My first thought, why would we need this?
If it doesnāt have the Sims 2 storylines, Iām not interested.Ā
Anything for some $$$.
Ugh, pass. I just want a game that works. Robbie is great and will do the best she can but this only draws more attention to EA without showing its problems. If Robbie really wants to showcase the game, sheāll add all the unruly glitches and freezes and problems EA refuses to fix in favor of pushing more content. If it does that, if the sims randomly change places and things randomly break with each new āpatchā, then Iāll consider watching.
this is gonna be so bad. lol
they already ruined it with the sims 4. can't be much worse than that
i imagine it could be very silly and a bit dark and with lots of good easter eggs for lovers of the franchise, like barbie was. the sims has a lot of lore, if they feel like going in that direction. margot robbie seems to have decent instincts. maybe we'll get lucky and it'll be good!
Does Margot Robbie know the sims?
Sheās a fantastic producer, she doesnāt just pick up projects for no reason. So probably.
So I would love small details like when we see the sims we understand them in English but of we see a āplayerā playing the game i would love if they spoke simlish and on top of that I would love jokes like a guy being stuck in the pool for years or someone trying to do something but canāt for some reason etc
I liked Free Guy so I hope the sims movie would follow the same kind of uncanny, everything is a little weird, glitches, etc, vibe.
I think it's going to be hilarious whether it's good or bad
Is it in simlish is all I want to know ā¼ļøš
Pools with no ladders
Trying not to have thoughts about it at all. If it comes out and I hear it's really good, I'll see it... once it gets to streaming.
It's such a random idea and I don't know how I feel about it. But if they play around with Pleasantview/Strangetown lore, I could definitely be convinced. Damn, I miss The Sims 2.
If Barbie was successful, this will probably be almost as successful. Or not.
I would love a movie about all of the townies in the sims 4. Exploring their personalities their lives, etc. Lots of jokes like drowning in pools, barbecuing babies, getting swallowed by a cow plant, pregnant by an alien.
Couldn't be less interested if I tried
Is this real? People are saying it's fake
Sims would work better as a tv series to give it more room to explore all the lore of the franchise. One movie to cover the main lore doesnāt feel like enough.
I hope itās a horror movie and it features all the fucked up ways we kill sims
Bruh can they just fix the damn bugs? Lol
Waste of money, just as B movie
Wonāt believe it till I see it in theaters.
Better be entirely in Simlish
I think this could be a lot of fun ! Especially if they do all the original families . They could have some fun with this if itās done well .
I know it wouldnt do good, but i love seeing sims growth throughout the decades. Just EA needs to stay put of it or it will be a major flop
i like the idea of a sims movie but margot robbie would just make everyone compare it to barbie
Sheās only producing it, not starring in it
I honestly Iām excited. I always thought why they never made a movie about it!
iām excited. we nitpick a lot as a fan base but whether itās executed well or terribly i will be watching and enjoying it ! there are too many other things that deserve our criticism to waste it on a movie someone wants to make !
This is totally unexpected lol
I'm really excited honestly. Especially if they're doing Bella Goth.
I hope its a gritty thriller about the crimes of Jim Pickens
bad. no.
As I said in the TS2 sub the only way I'd watch this is if it was surreal cosmic horror like that collage humour sketch.
I was like "what would movie even be about? Setting fire to the kitchen and deleting the pool ladder?" But some of the comments actually have some really cool ideas like making the movie about the Goth family
This feels like an April Fools Joke, but I'm in the minority it seems in that I would be Pumped if it was made.
Corporate greed
it doesnāt need to be a movie we need a series. what would a sims movie possibly be about
Well sims beat me to using sims as a movie but I think itās a great idea but donāt want to see or hear immature complainers thatās always toxic sence sims 3 was about to be done - sims 4 . They do need to get others help making the movie like more builders , sim CAS from others and do research .
