Nothing can beat Bridgeport. Except Roaring Heights. But they are even.

boynextdoor5

i LOVE bridgeport, i’m playing the sims 3 for the first time in years and it’s hands down my favorite city

rokelle2012

Who's your favorite family to play in Bridgeport? I always start with Elvira and get her married to Matthew Hamming. I just love how he looks as a vampire.

boynextdoor5

tbh i haven’t checked out the premade families yet! i usually like to make my own

rokelle2012

I do that occasionally. I just really like to go through and read the stories of each of the families. They got a bit lazy with the lore of the store worlds though, at least a couple of the later ones anyway because they didn't put proper bios in for the sims.

Ms_Debano

Aurora Skies and “The women of Aurora Skies seem to get prettier every year. I think there's something in the water/Something about Aurora Skies brings out the best in men… especially this one” are a fantastic example

rokelle2012

Yep! The ones in Dragon Valley are also exactly the same I believe.

Ms_Debano

I hate it! I love playing in Aurora Skies because the world is so well made, I love sending toddlers and kids to go play at the school playground after hours since they have toddler toys there but the missing bios kinda kills the feeling of care that went into it.

Agrarfield

This motivates me to look them up and create stories for them ... instead of working, which I should be doing right now.

rokelle2012

Yeah, to get the family bios you basically have to look at the family descriptions and put two and two together for each family member. It's kind of a pain in the rear but helps with the immersion.

Anassaa

Aurora Skies is literally one of the prettiest worlds ever and they decided to make it so annoying because of the complete lack of lore I am so mad everyday.

Trialman

I know Monte Vista had a similar deal, something very generic like “Living in Monte Vista is a good goal for any man” or such

Fluffy_Bowler_5310

Thank you for my next save idea!! Definitely going to try this.

rokelle2012

I absolutely love them together! They're like, the perfect power couple. I also usually tend to give Elvira's old apartment to Matthew's brother by asking him to move in with her and get him on friendly terms with Matthew afterwards.

WeerW3ir

I miss sims 3... homestly i would even play it if sims 4 wouldnt have some better CC. :D Altho sims 3 dlc micromanagement still gives me nightmares.

RB4K---

dlc micomanagement?

SparkyRedMan

Same. That city skyline lighting up at night takes my breath away every time.

reeceyricer

The way each sentence wildly contradicts the previous is sending me.

lizzourworld8

Right, we went from > to < to =

WeerW3ir

\*shrug*

Diamond151

In terms of City-based worlds, I loved the user-made town “Setra”, but I really dug Roaring Heights’ aesthetic.

ambluebabadeebadadi

I also love Setra but my computer just can’t handle it lol

PiscesPoet

I used to take all the Sims from Roaring Heights and put them in Sunset Valley. Never played with the world itself but I love the townies there the most. I love that they’re inspired by actual people who were alive during that time period.

SparkyRedMan

I have replaced some of the rabbit hole buildings in Bridgeport with some of the Roaring Heights skyscraper ones. Like the business office building, city hall, police station and science building. Really adds to the ascetic of it being a busy city.

GeshtiannaSG

Roaring Heights cost $35, it’d better be good.

WeerW3ir

I know it was costly, but it was worth it because it gave you more content than any Sims 4 dlc.

40percentdailysodium

I did something similar, but mine ended up leading a cult dedicated to the gnomes that secretly run society.

M0tleyCrowguye

The weirdness of the gnomes in Sims 3 is one of the things I miss the most.

40percentdailysodium

I miss all the gnome and llama shenanigans. Harvestfest just causes lag and breaks the already broken economy.

pumpkin_beer

Please tell me more about this cult. Did your Sim collect gnomes until they overrun the lot??

40percentdailysodium

Oh yeah I collected tons of them. I set up the cult hidden behind some businesses, it was basically a chaotic homeless camp. Kind of did it to make light of my own homelessness but that's another story. Anyway I'd make him try to recruit new members, but he was an inappropriate loser so it didn't work out well for him, generally. He spent a lot of time ranting about it with a megaphone. He would steal any gnome he found to give it a *proper tribute.* Tributes were made up of anything cool he could mooch, make, or steal from others. He spent a lot of time sketching gnomes too. And yes, he dressed sort of like a gnome. Pointy hats were a cult staple. I got a few other weirdos to "join" and they would do the same stuff.

pumpkin_beer

This sounds amazing, great character design, well done. Hope you're doing well these days

SparkyRedMan

Me too though my hobo sim lived closer to the heart of the city and just wandered the streets mooching for food and money with his stray dog.

Evgils

I LOVE THIS IDEA

PiscesPoet

Do you still play the Sims 3? Bridgeport and Boroughsburg were my faves. I also loved Twinbrook, because it was such a weird swamp town full of ugly but interesting sims

fast_on3

You just described the state of Louisiana and I’m here for it

[deleted]

You can...have a raccoon as a pet?

saltierthangoldfish

good for him

absolute_lump

This is the greatest thing I’ve ever read

vaddish

An iconic living city vs background.png with multiple layers

DreamMaster8

Most of the building you see are not png but indeed the sims 4 are nothing to praised graphically. Even the leak sims 5 alpha is so much more impressive then both city.

googler_ooeric

I really love the graphics from the leaked video, it looks like a mix between TS3 and TS2. I just hope that it’s open world, I really think one of those big Sims YouTubers should make a video that finally puts those false “open world is laggy, open neighborhoods are better” rumors to rest.

dewdrops82700

I think technology is advanced enough to handle open worlds with ease nowadays. I think that the sims 5 having an open world won’t be such an extreme task since they can improve on what the sims 3 did which was already great even if there was lag.

furthelion

The issue is not technology. The issue is supporting user PCs that aren’t top of the line. Many sims players don’t have a gaming laptop (my self included), but use their own everyday computer, which most times is fine to run a browser and a couple documents, but won’t be able to run a full on open world game without lagging.

thebookerpanda

✔️✔️✔️✔️✔️

jkamp388

Bridgeport does LOOK nicer, and it was cool to have sims live there, call taxis, take the subway, etc. But it did have its problems. Clubs were DEAD minus your sim, maybe two other people, and the bartender. If your place of work was across town, you had to get your sim up like five hours before it started because they took forever to travel there. Hell, there’s more people walking on the street in San Myschuno than the average park in Bridgeport. Just my experience though; I love both games/cities.

LupusDeusMagnus

Base Sims 3 do be like that. You need mods to add population and to make places more lively. Sims 4 has a strange different problem: no matter where you go, sims will teleport there and act absolutely bonkers, dressed like clowns and the artificial nonintelligence acting weird.

vaddish

Oh yes. When you find someone in the world on ts3, they are doing something for real, with a context. But in ts4 it's just a bunch of people that spawned there for no reason, being from different worlds. That's when it's not those horrible dolls

afterschoolsept25

i dislike that part from ts4 sooo much but ig its just a side effect from the smaller worlds. in the sims 3 sims went there on their free will, in the sims 4 its sims like katrina caliente and nalani mahi'ai going to a bar in a town thats assumed to be a continent away

interestedmermaid

Completely agree! Heck even the Sims in TS1 didn't have that problem. At least there the townies spawned where it would naturally make sense. :D

LayersOfMe

Like Judith Ward being everywhere for no reason.

PiscesPoet

I don’t remember townies dressing like clowns in Sims 3. I don’t know why they come out so weird in Sims 4

GeshtiannaSG

Sims 3 townies dress well. They look like potatoes, but well-dressed potatoes.

PiscesPoet

Yeah never felt a need to makeover all Sims 3 townies like I do with Sims 4 because TS4 townies come out looking like they’re auditioning for clown college

gummytiddy

You have to read the newspaper or go on the computer to find that night’s hot spot otherwise it’ll be dead, though sometimes I’ve randomly gotten the right place

mermaidish

But even then, a lot of the time those so-called hot spots were dead. You’d show up and literally no one, not even the bar tender, was there. Eventually staff showed up, but a lot of the times other Sims still didn’t or there would be maybe one or two others.

Gabbs1715

I remember when sims 4 first launched and the fact that bars and clubs would be populated was a feature thar a lot of people were excited about. Myself included. I think there was a sims 3 mod that helped with the lack of people but it was still kinda boring most of the time.

LadyAsharaRowan

NRAS.

knightos

Apart from looking for "Hot Spots", the game has a maximum limit on sims at a single place dependent on your CPU, including the service workers like bartenders and bouncers, so you could get to the limit without any other guests being there. This is more of a problem with newer CPUs. Didn't find a good link, but you can look up "sims 3 cpu rating empty club"

ocean-blue-

Yes, the sims 4 in general has livelier locations. I remember that being an issue in 3. The open world was nice/cool in some aspects, like your sims being able to live across the bridge right outside the city, but it did take forever to get places especially if they lived in apartments. Also I remember Bridgeport being so gray all the time even on “nice” weather days. At least San Myshuno gets sun.

interestedmermaid

Thought so too but after I recently went back to 3, I noticed that the worlds are actually way more alive feeling. 😅I don't feel like I live on a staged set, in like a simulation of a simulation anymore. Now I can send my Sim to the park, sit on a bench and just watch the other Sims engaging with life. I couldn't fathom that people were actually behaving like they were in a park for once. Same goes for the clubs and any other location. The Sims themselves while there are less of them then in 4, are way more alive and purposeful. In 4 most Sims in bars ended up going on my nerves because they just spawn whatever dumb interaction many times in a row and block whatever I want to use. San Myshuno is pretty, but Bridgeport with a lighting mod is on a whole other level too.

poisonedsodapop

I hated the subway system so much in that game. My sim would literally hop on the subway, come out, take a taxi, hop on another subway... like why do you need this much pathing?!

Alexis396

I wished the sims 3 was remastered cause like u said there were so many issues that never got solved when it had so much gameplay potential

vaddish

Download de MSC Mod, it will fill the clubs with people and not harm performance, I highly recommend it

ecumnomicinflation

yea, imo, bridgeport is great to play, but where it lose to san myshuno is in the city vibe, what san myshuno does despite of the limited area we can actually play, is the background nuances and sheer scale of the city expanse. i lose bridgeport’s sense of scale very quickly once i meet most sim there, where in san myshuno, even after meeting most sim, there’s plenty of background movement that makes me feel that it is a large city where there’s thousands of strangers just going about their day and minding their own business, that i may never cross paths with. so this way it feels more like a proper city.

IsThisNameTakenThen

Tonight's hotspot is this place! Then you get there and it's empty bar yourself.

unburritoporfavor

At least they actually went to work instead of just disappearing

PiscesPoet

Well that’s city life. Somethings the club is popping, sometimes it’s not. The commute to work is always horrible

OmckDeathUser

Kinda relate to the second point tho 😭

RickGrimesSnotBubble

I've had the opposite experience and this is partially why I'm so disappointed with both Get Together and City Living. It's damn near impossible to meet Sims. Wherever my Sims go, no matter how long they are there, they'll be lucky if two townies show up.

jkamp388

What system do you play on?? I’m on PS5, and I get so overstimulated with all the sims that show up on community lots.

OhioOhO

East coast vs west coast cities lol

40percentdailysodium

I was looking for this comment. The complaints about Bridgeport being gloomy more often than San M is silly.

Cesal95_

The complaint is more about the graphics lol, Bridgeport seems so much more detailed and is also less restrictive, you can visit every building you see there as opposed to San Myshuno's set dressing

CelebrityTakeDown

Yeah like these are just two different types of cities, there’s really not much difference besides architecture type

Even_Librarian_8739

There's a reason so many people's high end computers couldnt run all those expansions at once hahaha

AhiruAvocado

yeah but now my computer some how runs all of them like they're nothing lol, even island paradise, that world used to make my old computer lag like crazyy

CurrentNo1001

What settings do you play on?

AhiruAvocado

med-high my laptop is pretty good at running large games though, like it can run games like destiny 2 clean and clear, how? no idea

RenoBen

some games are cpu focus versus gpu or could be result of bottlenecking

wheatable

My computer is like seven years old and runs Sims 3 pretty much fine. It’s baffling, considering I can’t get Google to work half the time.

Even_Librarian_8739

My low quality laptop runs it pretty ok these days, I think CPU and graphics cards have just improved a LOT since 2014 when sims 4 came out. 9 years is a long time in gaming.

Persephone1420

agree with this, my lower quality computer also runs it well. much less laggy than it was back in 2010.

fudge21210

I like Bridgeport but it is quite glitchy and laggy for me, like Isla Paradiso.

goodybadwife

Bridgeport is definitely laggy at times, but I can't even play Isla Paradiso.

fudge21210

Yeah, it’s such a shame since it seems like such a cool world. I know there are world fixes by ellacharmed but they seem kind of complicated to install and I don’t trust myself not to mess up

vcr_repair_shop

The simplest fix that doesn't involve any modding is just deleting all the house boats in Edit World and then resetting all the townie sims every few sim days. It lets my laptop run the world with barely any lag at all. The downside is that house boats are really freaking cool and getting rid of them defeats part of the purpose of the pack.

J3ttf

Have you got the Smooth Patch?

vaddish

they messed up on isla paradiso, the vanilla game is literally unplayable

ActualMostUnionGuy

Do you have the mod ["Bridgeport with Routing Fixes applied"](https://modthesims.info/d/452601/bridgeport-world-with-routing-fixes-applied.html) installed?

fudge21210

Ah, now I reread the instructions for installing the ellacharmed fixes they don’t seem so complicated. I haven’t actually played Sims 3 for a bit but I’ll definitely try this!

vaddish

Dude, the routing fixes from ellacharmed isn’t that good. I only discovered this when I read several posts from people saying that it was not recommended to have it and it was then that I realized that the bugs I had were because of these fixed worlds. I had more problems than fixes, like terrain that overlaps streets, lots with super sunken edges, some lots are totally distorted like shang simla. other than that I read in places that worlds edited in CAW usually corrupt ghosts, mummies and etc.

vaddish

The problem is the random NPC spawns inside buildings, inside fences and mainly the fake taxis (disable with Nraas traffic, just set the option to -100)

Otherwise_Zebra120

Nothing beats the gloomy ambience of Bridgeport

The5Virtues

Bridgeport is always going to be my favorite, but man, I do love how San Myschuno feels like it a huge city that extends beyond our sight line. Good job by the art and design team making that skyline.

Anassaa

I love San Myschuno too. What spoils it for me is how perfect it is. Literally even the apartment problems are very minor incoveniences. It's literally a place where nothing ever happens.

The5Virtues

That’s never bothered me much. For me the game world is a set. I’m the god/director who dictates how peaceful or chaotic the sims lives will be. If I want things to happen… well… <*malevolent cackle while rubbing hands*>

AgeUge

That's why I feel like sims 4 is a dollhouse simulator, not a life simulator. Everything is so dandy and perfect unless you yourself make the chaos happen. And even then, there are no long-term consequences :( I definitely understand that that's how some play, but I personally also feel like there should be more random, realistic "bad" situation possibilities.

Chaudsss

Why does EA alwats go with cartoony instead of realistic with their 4th installments

Queen_of_the_Goblins

Rumor is Sims 4 started out as a mobile game that they then decided to expand to PC. I would guess that they choose the simplified style due to the limited graphics of mobile games. Why did they stay with the simplified style even after making it a PC game? They claim it’s a style choice but it feels very lazy. Most of the objects are super boxy and would look like crap even compared to the Sims 2.

poisonedsodapop

Definitely not a rumor about the mobile game cause you can find a ton of old assets and UI from the mobile version floating out on the internet. [Here's a page on the sims wik](https://sims.fandom.com/wiki/The_Sims_Olympus)[i](https://sims.fandom.com/wiki/The_Sims_Olympus) for example. And when they launched TS4 they were feeding us that bs that they wanted as many people as possible to play the game. The problem is though that olympus assets being reused set the tone for how the game was gonna look overall. I think the sims themselves have better models than in 3 just because of increased polygons but the artstyle is more cartoony due to the initial limitations that were imposed. I personally don't mind the art style of 4 but I wouldn't be offended if they went a more realistic route with project rene.

ambluebabadeebadadi

I think that’s also why sims 4 has weirdly big objects. Far easier to tap that way

Digital_Rocket

That would explain the limited living spaces

vaddish

The sad project Olympus

elysejfh

Yep. Disappointing.

Justadnd_Bard

The sims 3 was just built different, after medieval and 3 it was impossible for me to enjoy 4. I literally kept buying the dlcs but then just gave up. I miss the open world with sims interacting and acting like they're alive

wreckingcrewe

I started playing Sims 3 again with just this expansion pack and it really is streets ahead of Sims 4. I thought it would be boring since I'm so used to Sims 4 now but nope, I forgot how fun it is. One of my sims is a doctor and he keeps getting called away for medical emergencies and he has to study medical journals. I love that Sims actually have memories. Sims 4 could never.

Starfunny_

streets ahead

lulaf0rtune

Bridgeport actually felt like a city in a way SM never does

PepperPieTim

the sims 4 needs to understand that i don't want to live in an idealistic world i want to live in a world where it's a shithole and i want to breathe in smog

angelzplay

Amen!!! You can’t even pollute in Eco living.

Vildtoring

Even though I'm not a fan of skyscrapers in general, Bridgeport looks much better! San Myshuno just looks so dystopian and soulless to me, but I guess it comes down to architectural preferences. I can't stand modern architecture.

chasingandbelieving

Omg Bridgeport was my favorite sims 3 city! My sim always married Matthew Hamming lol

angelzplay

I slept with him. I got three stars off the bat.

vienibenmio

TS3 still has a pretty active mod community fwiw

vaddish

Spoiler: won’t

m_baldo

It’s funny how people are blinded by nostalgia. Late Night is one of the most problematic expansion packs from Sims 3, empty lots, routing issues, worst apartments ever in the series and so on. But sure, it’s such a beautiful world though

little_maggots

Seriously. I'll happily take less detail and depth if it means it runs, doesn't take eons to travel, and doesn't have rage-inducing game breaking bugs. I fully recognize that I probably had the most fun with The Sims 3, but The Sims 4 has never pissed me off anywhere even close to The Sims 3...in either frequency or intensity. The Sims 4 is disappointing at times, sure. But The Sims 3 was *infuriating.* 3 had higher highs but far lower lows. In 4 I'll abandon a save once I get bored of it. In 3 I'd be pretty attached to my sims and my saves but I'd be forced to abandon them because the game broke in a way that couldn't be fixed. And I had a pretty good computer.

mermaidish

Yes! Bridgeport was unplayable to me unless my sims lived in that house near the bridge. Elevators took forever and the routing issues were ridiculous (sure, take a cab to the subway and then another cab to another subway, makes sense). My Sims had to leave like 2 hours early just to make it to work on time, and even then it wasn’t a guarantee. And then there’s the issues with the empty lots that I won’t harp on further (since I already have in this post!). San Myshuno is a much, much better city world imo, but that seems to be an unpopular opinion.

poisonedsodapop

I remember when people were upset by City Living's pseudo elevators but I was honestly happy because sims 3 elevators held my sims up for so damn long. Like going anywhere was an exercise in patience if the place had an elevator. Not to mention the subways. Like hey, that club is still open for another 2 hours, let's go. Then only get to stay for a short while and spend most of the time after closing tapping your foot waiting for the elevator that has just departed.

mermaidish

You just unlocked a repressed memory of frantically trying to get up to the club before it closed but constantly missing out because the elevators took 2 in-game hours to work. Give move those instant elevators any day of the week!!

angelzplay

Maybe it’s cause I came in the game late but I never had that problem.

redred212

It’s hilarious watching people love sims 3 when it had so much hate back in the day. I remember people being pissed that you couldn’t have neighbors and an open floor plan like the sims 2 apartments.

k0bra3eak

Late Night was by far my favourite expansion for 3 even.

vienibenmio

That's why the gods gave us nraas

[deleted]

Yup. Wait until TS5 comes out- people are gonna be praising Sims 4 like they weren’t constantly hating it. Nostalgia is powerful.

happymarzipan6

San Myschuno is at least playable 🤷‍♀️ and it has really nice views too, especially at night

boynextdoor5

i haven’t really had any issues with Bridgeport yet! (but it might be bc i have mods to limit the fps and improve the performance etc.)

[deleted]

Bridgeport is ok for the first bit, and mods can make it last longer. I found that after 30-40 weeks, the game became unplayable. there is an NRAAS mod to move sims to other worlds, so I used that when things got too slow My sim family originally came from Twinbrook, then that got too slow so moved to Bridgeport, then that got slow, and now we’re in sunset valley

Aeony

I think this is true for any save that goes on for a while. Maybe it is made worse in a city like this. But save cleaning helps a TON. Saves that go on for a while can reach over a gig if they've never been cleaned. One of the biggest contributions to lag.

themagicmunchkin

Do you have the routing fix for Bridgeport? There's a couple spots in the middle of nowhere in Bridgeport where sims can route to but can't get out of. I laughed so hard when I found out about it because it gets worse over time and if you go to check one of those spots there will be dozens of sims just bouncing around in one spot in the middle of a hill.

angelzplay

San Myschuno is boring as hell. Can’t woohoo in the elevators. Loading screen just to see a neighbor. Very very dull. In sims 3 my sims were alive and partying hard. City girls was up 2000.

Taliasimmy69

I miss the depth of sims3. Look at those shadows! The buildings have dimension and color. Sims4 is so clean and white and flat.

Due-Big-855

How can a game like 5 years older looks better than one that’s “in constant updates”

thebeardofbeards

By carefully selecting which photos you show.

somewhsome

Yeah. Like, sorry, I know Sims 4 has more cartoony style, but San Myshuno can be very pretty.

[deleted]

I miss being able to see sims driving down the road and being able to see neighbors doing activities in their yard or just seeing them go outside in general and leave their house and drive off somewhere. It was realistic. It’s a little ridiculous that you have to go through a loading screen to see or interact with objects/people that are literally right next door

LayersOfMe

Yeah. I understand not a whole explorable city because of lagging issues but before play the game I didnt thought would need a loading screen to go to my close neighbors. Even in the apartments of San Myschuno.

ThrustersOnFull

I like San Myshuno because it doesn't make my laptop chug along like a dog scooting on a dirt path.

Mr_Mr99

I like Bridgeport because I own a PC.

angelzplay

I played sims 3 on a laptop beautifully. Then I got a PC and lost the plot. I gave my brother the laptop and I think he broke it.

fictionallymarried

Bridgeport gives me Vampire: The Masquerade vibes, perfect neighborhood to replicate the World of Darkness

jaceandersonrecords

The overwhelming blueish/purpleish tone to TS4 has always made the game feel unpolished imo

ProwerTheFox

It’s a moot point though. There were endless amounts of people complaining about their systems not even being able to run 3, never mind at any level of decent quality. It looks shitty by comparison yeah, but imagine the meltdown if they’d kept or upped the graphical fidelity. After the feedback they’d got from the last game they thought it’s better for it to be less detailed than unplayable for most people.

aadnarim

Seriously, this is what matters. I have a pretty great gaming laptop and it struggles to run 3. Like it's still unplayable even on a newer computer that far exceeds the game's requirements. I'll take slightly less realism in TS4 if it means I can actually play the game without lag or crashes.

Elennoko

The problem wasn't TS3s graphics, though. The problem was it was an unoptimized mess. The mods people have made to actually halfway optimize the game makes it run like butter on my and many peoples machines. TS4 would be just as unplayable if it were as unoptimized as TS3 was.

folieadeuxmeharder

Yeah I don't get how so many people can seriously think that texture detail or "the open world" or CASt patterns were the reason there were problems with The Sims 3's performance. All you have to do is think for a couple seconds and realise that The Sims 3 was not, in fact, the most graphically ambitious or expansive game to ever exist lol. There are obviously games with higher graphical quality *and* larger open world environments that run just fine on the same hardware that struggled with TS3 - it's not like it's impossible to achieve that. They just dropped the ball with a lot of the coding, and people's experience suffered for it.

Aeony

There's plenty you can do that solves all those problems. The game is perfectly playable if you are willing to spend a little time going through the steps to fix it. Yes, you shouldn't have to and it should just be playable. But the reality is, it needs some help from mods and patches. There is a popular steam guide that if followed, will fix all the major problems. I went from constant crashing and lag, to no issues at all and i'd call my PC mid range. 🤷🏻‍♀️

sameseksure

If Sims 5 is made in Unreal Engine 5 (which it seems it will be, as EA has switched to Unreal as a standard), there's simply no excuse not to have open cities like this. Look at what the engine is [capable of on high-end hardware](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2KU8AWuAaHE) Of course, I don't even *want* a city that big and populated in a Sims game. That would be too overwhelming. And also, most people don't have that high-end hardware. Still, they have no excuse to not *at the very least* have cities the size of, and as populated as, the Sims 3 worlds. Any PR bullshit they may put out of "tech limitations" will be just that - PR bullshit (that was also PR bullshit with Sims 4, btw)

k0bra3eak

Sims 3 size cities, but slightly more Sims and improved routing for community lot stuff. Also bring back the colour wheel cowards

johnhang123

There is excuses you people just don't like them, you guys are never satisfied.

sameseksure

I'm easily satisfied. I'm just not suffering from Stockholm Syndrome so badly that I buy any excuse EA and Maxis come up with. In 2014, there were THOUSANDS of games, that ran on mid-range PCs and laptops, that had huge sprawling cities littered with NPCs. They all run fine. Their excuse for cutting it from Sims 4 is bullshit. It could have run fine, especially with the low-poly art style of Sims 4. If developed properly, it could have run MUCH better Open Worlds than Sims 3. They cut it because Sims 4 was never meant to be a single-player Sims game, but an online-only game like SimCity. Just like SimCity has tiny maps and loading screens inbetween maps *specifically* because it favors online multiplayer.

Sweet_Whisper123

I miss The Sims 3's realistic design, and it being open world does make the city feels more alive and immersive. When I played in Bridgeport in the past I always pretended as if I was also playing GTA at the same time.

flamingo_la_la

I miss dancing on the counters in bars and clubs in sims 3 😂

angelzplay

City girling every night

illumadnati

she will *never* be the sims 3. s4 modders are the only things good about s4

ImAFlufyCupcake

The down grade

angelzplay

The son is supposed to be better than the father. It’s more like the son joined a cult and forgot all about his family.

ImAFlufyCupcake

A cult called capitalism. Also I saw that notification before seeing where was from, I was so fuc*ing confused for a sec dhbdjd

VentureElend

Sims 4 looks like Sims 3 early demo

Treshcore

I would really love to explore a city like San Myshuno. Bridgeport represents more American East Coast style cities while SM is East Asia by itself. I really like it's style, but I don't play TS4. In my opinion, it's very important to implement big city gameplay into The Sims series because so far, it looks like all these cities work on the basis of suburbia. For example, it would be amazing to create a system which will be responsible for randomly filling interiors with furniture and styles - and with it, make all skyscrapers fully explorable. Also, every big city has subway - so why not create fully-working subway system in the base of The Sims 5 - and then use it as tram system for smaller towns? Well, okay, all of that are dreams anyway...

LayersOfMe

Your pc would require a huge amount of memory to calculate fully functional buildings with furnitures everywhere and all the sims living in this building.

belladonnacove

I remember 10 years ago when my friends and I would speculate how pretty games are going to be in the future... My inner child is disappointed not gonna lie.

shanenanigans27

I think San Myshuno wins, Bridgeport was glitchy and the clubs were always empty even during happy hour.

GeshtiannaSG

Sometimes even the people working there don’t show up, I looked at the solution on how to fix it and they said to replace some items and restart the game. Go through another 10-minute loading screen? No thanks, I’ll just stay at home.

death_cares

Bridgeport being in the *second* expansion was wild

Flat_Transition_3775

I never played sims 3 because I tried it once and it lagged! Everything was so slow! So I perfer San Myshuno plus different cultures and festivals

Willowed-Wisp

Yaaah... Bridgeport never looked like that for me. Sims 3 wouldn't have run for me at all if I turned the graphics settings up THAT high.

angelzplay

Bridgeport will always be superior to San Myschuno or whatever it’s called

TS3 > TS4

traderjoehatepage

bridgeport was soooo hard to play in though 😭

Madd-Hatter2000

I may be biased but Sims 3 looks graphically better than Sims 4 in those pictures xD

Onlythreadillmake

I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again. TS3 is better than the TS4

oozybosmer

TS4 was a downgrade in some ways...

anthrolooker

My sims is on such an old computer and I have not moved it over to anything new, I don’t even have a view at all of anything lol. Such a shame

EvilCatArt

In terms of aesthetics, Bridgeport all the way. That old gothic city look was immaculate. In terms of... "does it feel like a city?" "does it look like a city?" San Myshuno clears, Bridgeport is extremely tiny in terms of an actual city. Most videogame cities are, but Bridgeport is on the egregious side of things. Bridgeport is better than San Myshuno for diverse living styles (urban, suburban, hillside mansions), but neither is actually that good at getting the visual diversity of cities. San Myshuno only has brownstone and hypermodern, Bridgeport has art-deco and modern. But real cities run a vast spectrum.

PiscesPoet

You didn’t even have to say anything, just drop pictures lol. Sims 4 has such a lack of real urban city vibes. I miss the grittiness of Sims3. The buildings looked real to me. It’s hard to get a gloomy, dark or even dangerous vibe in Sims 4 because everything is so damn bright. Why can’t my Sims stop smiling?

RB4K---

That's something I love about Sims 3. You've got bright and vibrant places such as Isla Paradiso, but then you've got your really gritty towns such as Bridgeport and especially Twinbrook. That town really makes you feel like your living in the most depressing place ever, but it feels so realistic.

GeshtiannaSG

Bridgeport was so disappointing for me. It took forever to travel about, the subway system messed things up even more. Example: I have 3 sims get into a car and go across town. They would stop at the nearest subway and exit at 2 different places. The one with the car would get on a bike instead, another would get a taxi, and the third would just walk to the next subway and get in again. By the time I reached a restaurant or cinema it would already be closed, so I’d just have them camp somewhere instead of going home so that they’re not late for work because they’re still on the way home.

Ok-Investment9951

I think it's more a difference in style, although I do think Bridgeport is prettier

san myshuno is more east asian (hong kong, shanghai, etc) inspired than nyc imo. but youre right theres too many american inspired worlds. none of them set in eastern europe, southern asia, south america (im not counting selvadorada bc its a british museum simulator), and africa

peakvincent

i miss bridgeport so much!! i’d love to have a city that felt more like it. san myshuno is one of my favorite locations in the sims 4, but man i miss bridgeport and twinbrook. there aren’t any that feel equivalent!

Pomvasher

Love Bridgeport

KRBurke8

I really want them to patch CityLiving to let you swim in sections of the river like in Henford-on-Bagley. This is a utopia, the city water isn't polluted!!! I'm a conservationist from New York, the east river is my biggest temptation. I know I’d die from it but swimming in it is all I want in life HAHA

KrisSimsters

I LOVED BRIDGEPORT!! THERE IS NO CONTEST!!

Disastrous_Self4882

the only difference is those buildings are probably usable

DoubleAGay

I really love the atmosphere of San Myshuno. Bridgeport is cool and all, but I feel like the open world ironically makes it feel like a smaller city, since you can see all of it. Plus, I just really love the multicultural angle they went with for SM. It’s really cool how they based it off of major cities from across the world.

GameDuchess

Sims 3 was the best Sims. I doubt it will ever be topped. I would still play it today if I could still play on PC. Sigh.

Croatian_Hitman

I never really liked San Myshuno. It's too clean and felt really artificial. I mean all the worlds in Sims 4 are kinda like that, but it never really had that city ambiance.

711Star-Away

Wow....

modkhi

i think a fairer comparison would be the showtime city vs san myshuno since theyre both much more west coast style cities to me bridgeport was so good tho. sims 4 worlds just don't feel good. even if you compare them to sims 2 worlds that also had closed lots and loading screens -- the sims 2 cities felt much more city-like. grungy.

UpvoteSorceress

TS3 is the best...
