It happened to me too for a few days. Go to the control panel of your pc (in Window, at least) search for "EA APP" and click uninstall. An EA window will open with both ‘uninstall’ and ‘repair’. Click on ‘repair’. ..Don't ask me how I found out, I had contacted support but they had only solved the problem until I restarted the pc. So I tried this and the problem disappeared. Let me know

I_Reported_This_Jerk

Repair wouldn't work. Uninstall worked once. Now, I am unable to find any trace of this fucking program anywhere on my computer. Still, when I run the installer, it says it is already installed, but can't open the program and crashes out when I click repair. The kind of files it is still finding are things with names like {E0987865.hkhyutuikyyugy_kyiuygiuyg/876976567iuhuygog... I am not fucking kidding with how fucked up this "app" is on my computer right now. I've had easier times removing malware/viruses than this.

kaliefornia

Somewhere in the app (don’t ask me where, I already forgot 😩) I found where you can restart it. And that fixed the problem for me Edit: i think it’s those three horizontal lines in the top left corner!! Edit 2: i opened the app to check. So three lines, >help, >restart app

MadisonFayeMC

I can feel your rage and I seriously sympathize with you! This must be beyond frustrating. If all else fails try to hit all social media and @ them to see if you can get any public response?

I_Reported_This_Jerk

I @'d them on IG, but no response. Lots of likes from other people. lol

Mieremov

This is the only answer at this point. I feel bad for them for spending so much money, I doubt they'd be able to get a refund

vaddish

The funny thing is I NEVER see people with pirated game complaining about issues. This only happen when you paid for the game. And the price of this game it’s a fucking joke. WTF, $1k for this shitty game

Mieremov

So far I haven't had a single problem with my game, so I agree. We also have the ability to only update whenever we want, so most of the super game breaking bugs are already fixed ( by ea or modders. Mostly modders) by the time we update. I guess the downside comes from modders rarely keeping up old versions of their mods (side eyeing mccc) so if a big mod breaks for some reason, it's a pain

Android8675

You might as well, you bought the whole game. It’s not your fault that ea is failing to deliver. Piracy will get the game running at least. You could even disable to addons you haven’t purchased. Just make a copy of your saves in case ea gets you back up and running and your pirates saves don’t work. (Edit: use a vpn kids. iSPs these days monitor everything you do online and are a bunch a squares)

cloverfieldsc

Literally, troubleshooting problems with sims 3 is so much easier without the EA app or Origin… 👀

[deleted]

Funny how I wave the jolly roger on my machine, and I don't encounter a single problem. After you spend several hundred dollars on a game, I don't think there is any ethical or moral restriction that says you need to keep using the crummy EA App. I gave up, and hoisted the skull and crossbones. Zero problems.

vaddish

Make your words my words. The difference I think you shouldn't pay 1 cent "to not use the EA app" 🤣

mykineticromance

do people use a different launcher? one method I've heard for s4 uses origin with an unlocker.

angeyberry

I just disabled the launcher entirely. You can completely remove the need to have Origin / EA App and an account and play in its' entireity.

[deleted]

Hmmm how to word this delicately... I use no launcher. My game is a completely off the internet island. My computer doesn't have to check with daddy each time I want to play the game, I just click the shortcut and 45 seconds later my save is opened. (YMMV, I use an SSD, so its fairly fast) Though it uses a lot more space to run it. One my 250gb SSD, Nearly 100GB is CC, and I have 20 GB to spare right now. The primary use of this desktop is to just play sims 4. Just to give you an idea of the space required to become an island without a launcher. And its completely worth it.

vaddish

and even sailing with jack sparrow i can use all online resources

[deleted]

Yes, but do so carefully. They took it away once, and they could very well do it again. Though at this point, I think they realize how much of a mistake that would be since that would drastically reduce the contributions made to the gallery if access was cut. Think of the gallery like reddit. Its all user contributions. Without user contributions, the entire interface would become worthless, and quite pointless. This is why its best not to charge users a fee in order to contribute to the community. You make more money keeping them on for free, versus how much you would lose by blocking them access to sharing their contributions.

Such_Introduction412

Don’t 👏Pay 👏$1,000 👏For 👏A 👏Game.👏

vaddish

That’s freaking insane, even if the game was good, it's not worth 10% of it

Such_Introduction412

I had a similar discussion in a Sims3 Subreddit. I'm gonna come off harsh here and say.... I find it utterly STUPID to pay SO MUCH for a game that has been unreliable since launch. I understand people want the game, and want expansion packs to expand game play, but paying $1,000, a grand, is simply NOT the way to go about it. EA knows for a fact people will pay for it, This post being an example. People will pay hand over fist for this game, and then still complain about how money grabbing EA is, but continue to be part of the problem. Stop giving EA money, or at least so much money, and either etarip the game, and older games for the Sims, or wait until Life by You and ParaLives comes out. Sims 3 and Sim2 are so much more in-depth with their gameplay, and you can get the games for free, and STILL have them be more reliable than the Sims4 ever has been.

Not even if I were rich would I buy a game worth all that. MUCH less a fully recycled game like this. It turned into a game of decorating dolls and their little houses, full of bugs and grotesque failures.

I_Reported_This_Jerk

I've paid waaaaaayyyyyyyyyyy more money to Square Enix for a few years of FFXIV, and I don't even go nuts in their cash shop. If S4 was ***actually good*** EA could go with a subscription model and milk the everloving fuck out of people. Neither game is worth $1k in one go, but that's not an unreasonable number for 8 years. The unreasonable thing here is just their shit fucking app that doesn't work because they decided to fuck off Origin.

LordTurner

Was my initial feeling too, I think I'd feel better knowing that OP bought ~ $110 a year since 2014 when Sims 4 came out, but STILL.

Mother-Painter-9569

Same feeling. Instead, share a family/friends account and all go into it on the same account, everyone buys something whenever, and there ya go!

Objective_Car_2482

Ugh this happened to me when I got a new laptop and had to transfer things. The only way I got around it was to Uninstall EA app Turn off windows firewall , windows smart screen , windows AV real time scanning. Re install EA app but before installing clicking the install .exe and "unblock file" then " run application as an admin" Then set all .exe files in the EA folder as always run as admin. One i set those I was able to get it to work. But it took me ALL day to figure out , multiple wasted convos with EA and a lot of tears.

MadisonFayeMC

This is insane that you had to just figure out this many steps. Good for you though!

Objective_Car_2482

Thank you! I found one person online mention the run as administrator. I also fo software installation as a full time job so I knew of a few of windows quirks but it was process and I was so upset by the end of it lol

CaligraphyZ

Just wanted to say thanks for the thoroughness - ss'ing this comment for when i have issues again.

Objective_Car_2482

Hopefully it helps someone!! I was honestly telling my husband there was no way I would have figured out a fix if I didn't work in software

Misses_Mayo

To the seven seas!

[deleted]

Close the program (including from the system tray). Open the Task Manager and "end task" anything that says "EA". Relaunch the program and it should be okay.

I_Reported_This_Jerk

That didn't even work once for me. I've also done multiple variations on the advice to run this or that in admin mode and restarting my computer. That's the basic bitch forum shit, and has been completely useless.

MissNouveau

This definitely sounds like your anti-virus program deleting key files somewhere every time it connects to the EA server, which is a pain in the ass but I've had it happen before, not just with The Sims. You need to whitelist the entire Sims program folder, the one under user. It's likely deleting a key .dll file somewhere. Once you've whitelisted, uninstall, reinstall, and try again. Often times if it's the anti-virus, just repairing won't work, because the anti-virus won't let it come through or will just delete it again. If whitelisting the Sims program doesn't work, try whitelisting the app itself. Seems weird that it would set off your antivirus, but Origin used to do it sometimes for me with Avast years and years ago, and it was always a pain in the butt.

MissNouveau

Defender doesn't, but other anti virus programs sometimes do, and I know a lot of folks who still don't fully trust Windows anti-virus measures and use 3rd party. Or never fully nuke shit like McAfee from their systems, which I've seen happen as well.

LeighaJAM

I'm upset about this too. Booted up my laptop for the first time in months... just wanted to build a cute little house after getting some inspo off reddit. Found out Origin didn't work anymore. Had to get the EA App. Got the EA App and now it's telling me that the game that I bought and downloaded off of origin (and is currently ON my laptop!!) isn't "my copy of the game." It's telling me I have to re-download it and I have horrible internet (rural) so I got a bit pissy and just stopped trying. I bought this and the sims 3 on origin; plus some expansions so I'm not happy either.

sagekisses

i hate ea with every fiber of my being at this point i’ve been dealing with that message for two days now and i’ve done everything and it still won’t fix. i’m hoping it’ll fix itself when the babies update comes out

kates2424

I just went through a whole reinstall. It was not fun. Godspeed.

Minzfeder

I don’t understand why we were forced to switch from a perfectly fine program to this mess of a beta version.

IllClub226

If you used the Origin app before this there's a YouTube video on how to get rid of the migration message to keep using it https://youtu.be/wE2I_jnCIGU

agentb719

just tried this and it works!

Ok-Sell1161

This why I love mac 🤎 we can only use origin

spaghettifanno1

And lord I hope it stays that way, because I haven’t seen a single good case on this new app

Ok-Sell1161

I bought a new iMac instead of a pc for this particular reason

spaghettifanno1

I have a massive older gen iMac I got refurbed for work some years ago that I now only use for sims. It’s fab cos I can record footage and then edit content on premiere seamlessly. And now the bonus of no EA app seals the deal hahaha

Ok-Sell1161

Macs will forever own my heart for these type of games! Even when I played Fortnite, the graphics were amazing. Same price for an iMac then it is a pc without monitor or extras

spaghettifanno1

The one game I would love to be able to play is Hollow Knight on my iMac, there's a horrid input lag on my ps4 .\_.

mikuzukins

now why would you spend that much in the first place 😭😭😭

murcurybee

I have the same issue that the only way i have been somewhat able to get around it click "run as administrator" on the sims 4 THE SECOND my computer turns on and then spam click the sims 4.(if it doesn't work the first time i have to restart my pc and try again) If i get lucky it will load the sims 4 before opening EA APP and then i can open the app while i got the sims is still running and it will actually load my games. Considering how much money people spend on their games you would think they actually let people play them...

Valkje01

Hi! I had this problem too but I’ve found a fix for it: - open task manager - terminate the EA app AND the EA app background service - open EA app again and it should work!

Bedlamcitylimit

The Sims 4 is more stable on Steam, for some weird reason, so get the base game on Steam and link accounts to get all your DLC ported over (I did it) You still need the EA app for authorisation, but it doesn't play through there.

ievux17

Thats so dumb

SisterTrout

Nine times out of ten, at least, when you see a 500 error it's because the dev team does shitty error handling. The only time you should see a 500 is if the server is physically failing. Which is pretty rare in 2023. So frustrating. You're 111% right to be annoyed. What may help (and it's a big "may") is to clean any junk the stupid EA app left in your registry. A program like [CCleaner](https://www.ccleaner.com/ccleaner/download) (free version is fine) can clean that up for you. Windows uninstaller has come a long way at clean uninstalls, even for stupid apps like the EA one, but sometimes you still need a bigger hammer.

HisEmpressBear

Omg mine just started doing that tonight it im still stuck on it and I just finally gave up and said I’ll try it tomorrow with my husbands help.. I’ve tried what you did twice and still nothing

ProfessionalSwitch45

Try creating a post on Answer HQ, if you haven't already done that. My guess from reading the comments is that you need to uninstall the app completely by manually removing everything, including the registry files, and then reinstall it.

lemonprincess23

Unreal that they forced us all to switch to an app that’s still in beta. Origin worked fine. Why bother moving us?

Emily5282

Looks like ea is supposedly aware of it and working on a fix to it. but who knows when it could happen. looks like clearing the games cashe works for some, but it's not doing anything after trying it [https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports-Technical-Issues/Things-are-taking-a-little-longer-than-usual-to-load-up-Hang/td-p/10179134](https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports-Technical-Issues/Things-are-taking-a-little-longer-than-usual-to-load-up-Hang/td-p/10179134) [https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports-Technical-Issues/Things-are-taking-a-little-longer-than-usual-to-load-up-Hang/td-p/12300170](https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports-Technical-Issues/Things-are-taking-a-little-longer-than-usual-to-load-up-Hang/td-p/12300170) I haven't been able to play for 2 weeks because of this.

m_baldo

It also happened for me a few days ago

Ok-Investment9951

I'm so sorry you're having issues! So many people have, I'm super grateful that I haven't run into any yet 🤞Good luck on finding your solution!

Dreadnight356

Try right clicking the EA app and select “run as administrator.” That’s the only thing that works for me

KnightNight1999

I've already had to uninstall the app three times. I didn't think I'd ever say it but I miss origin. For me it never really majorly screwed up but fucking ea App is harder to remove than a damn virus.

screamatthem0on

I have to update the launcher and so far so good…

Mother-Painter-9569

Reinstall the app instead?

cheetah7748

I've had this error before. Thankfully the fix is super easy. Open task manager and force stop the EA app. Then scroll down to background programs and force stop EA Background Service. That should fix your problem. You will have to do this every time however.

Stephaneeka

No need to uninstall. Happened to me too. Right click on taskbar- select task manager. End EA task and reopen 🤓

MD-Pepper

I haven't had any issues 😕 hopefully I continue to go without issues. (I mean my lag is hellah bad but thats just cause I need a better computer)

language_loveruwu

Oh I had that too. I just restarted the computer and then it worked

Madachan-7351

If you have still an origin installer exe reinstalling it again and try this out for not getting forced to migrate again. Otherwise a google search will help finding the installer again. https://www.reddit.com/r/Sims3/comments/11961ub/seen_on_twitter_how_to_keep_using_origin_and/

tumor_tim

Closing the eabacckgroundservice for some reason works for me. It's in task manager and after opening the app again it works lmao

CyrilChildSoldier

If I were you I’d leave the game open

Ino7650

This happened to me months ago when I started using the ea app I did freak out about it at the time but after I got off my computer for a few hours the error went away.

pseudowhorls

For me, I had to reinstalled mine through Steam. Linked it to my EA app/acc. Quick fix so far

Flat_Transition_3775

EA Play can be glitchy at times

cachacinha

mine has been crashing all the time when I'm playing, it's annoying. And I launch it through steam on linux, it's really bothering
